Blues and Cubes - это четвертый альбом The Jazz Professors, вдохновленый искусством Пикассо и новаторским блюзом прошлого века. Восемь оригинальных треков профессоров и пара каверов Sidney Bechet и Charlie Parker рисуют звуковую картину, которая не может не понравиться, ведь секстет, в отличии от художника, играет не абстрактный, а понятный и легкий свинговый бибоп. Создается такое впечатление, что педагоги специально записали альбом для своих учеников, который дает современный взгляд на мейнстримовый джаз и показывает, как правильно надо взаимодействовать в ансамбле. Имею ввиду отсутствие лидера, доминирующего инструмента, ненавязчивые и уместные соло каждого исполнителя. Чувствуется профессиональный подход каждого, не только к технике исполнения, но и к умению слушать и поддерживать друг-друга. А еще хочется отметить сами произведения и аранжировки, которые как будто написаны для следующих поколений. Они имеют разную сложность, ритм и отличные мелодии, делая этот альбом стилистически разнообразным.
