Jennie True is an absolute gem! I loved this conversation! The great exhale. If you don't mind a little profanity and shocking realism.. this episode is going to be the fresh air you've needed, this year.We cover from  being inclusive to the shocking realities of parenthood and doing “your thing” with littles around.Don't miss this!_________About Jennie:Jenny Pritchett (alias Jenny True) is a nationally recognized columnist for Romper, where she publishes advice on pregnancy and parenting, as well as on her popular blog Jenny True: An Excruciatingly Personal Mommy Blog, which was a finalist for the Mom 2.0 2019 People's Choice Awards. Her new book: You Look Tired: An Excruciatingly Honest Guide to New Parenthood is in the tradition of Ali Wong and Amy Schumer, and is a whip-smart, spit-out-your-coffee funny guide for new parents. Plenty of "new parent" guides cover the basics of breastfeeding, bonding, sleep, and "getting back in shape." But nowhere is there a guide that tells you about the medieval act of pumping, why one shouldn't turn to online pregnancy/parenting forums, and the answer to the question: WTF is this squeeze bottle thing from the hospital?YOU LOOK TIRED is a totally honest, tell-it-like-it-is guide for new moms and parents who don't want any more advice. Writing as Jenny True on her "Excruciatingly Personal Mommy Blog" and in the "Dear Jenny" column on Romper, Jenny has been called the "postpartum feelings doula," as she doles out her unique mix of humor, rage, and encouragement (with a smidge of practical advice), including:• Birth Hurts: Prenatal yoga is a waste of time.• Jabba the Hutt Was Just Postpartum: It explains so much.• and more.ADDITIONAL ADVANCE PRAISE:"In You Look Tired, Jenny Pritchett dishes out hilarious, in-your-face advice to overwhelmed moms and moms-to-be. If you don't have a trust fund, a live-in nanny, or the organizational skills to breastfeed elegantly while getting a pedicure, you need this book. In the voice of her popular alter ego Jenny True, Pritchett tells it like it really is, not the way it would be if you were floating through parenthood on a cloud of maternal fairy dust. When Gena Jaffe had a baby using her wife's egg, she learned that even though the baby was genetically her wife's, only she, as the woman giving birth, was considered the legal parent. Gena discovered just how much confusion and misinformation is out there concerning the legalities of LGBTQ+ families, even among lawyers. As an entrepreneur and lawyer herself, as well as a mom who has gone through fertility treatments to conceive two children, Gena has a wealth of knowledge on both fertility treatments and the legal implications relating to them. It was this expertise that led her to establish Connecting Rainbows, an organization that helps those in the LGBTQ+ community start, grow, and protect their families by offering legal and fertility resources. Today on Fertility Forward, Gena sheds light on some of the confusion around what the law actually says about LGBTQ+ families. Hear about what second-parent adoption is and why you may need to do it, the importance of having a will, and things you need to know before using a sperm donor. She also shares her advice and encouragement for anyone starting out on their own fertility journey, so be sure to tune in today!
