He fought for what he knew was right and wasn't influenced by party politics. He showed us how to mix church and state and never backed away from his faith. His ability to work across party lines made him one of the most powerful United States senators in history. His devotion to doing the right thing despite the political pressures is inspiring. His dedication to his country, family, and living the principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ became his legacy. I am so grateful for the three decades, he influenced my life for good. He loved me and everyone around him and knew how to support and love and lift others. She is a trustee on the J Willard and Alice S Marriott Foundation, the Bill and Donna Marriott Foundation, Bridges from School to work and the Wilmer Eye institute board, associated with Johns Hopkins.One of her passions is being an advocate for those suffering from mental health issues and she has been a member of several mental health nonprofits over the years including the National Institute of Mental Health.She is married to Ron Harrison. They have served as Mission leaders in the Brussels Belgium Netherlands Mission from 2000-2003. On May 29th 2021 Ridge lost consciousness while driving his family home from their hike on Mount Fuji, resulting in a fatal car crash causing the death of two Japanese pedestrians. In 2021 a Japanese court found Ridge guilty of negligent driving causing death and sentenced him to a three-year prison term. After over 509 days of incarceration in a Japanese prison, Alkonis was transferred to US custody and released 28 days later. Ridge talks about his spiritual wrestle and how he survived his darkest days.
