Jayne Amelia speaks with artist and foster sibling, Elle Fox. Elle, a high school student, has been sketching for as long as she can remember. Growing up in a family that fostered children, Elle draws on her experience of life, love, and loss while sharing her heart and home for a period of time with numerous babies and children. As an author, illustrator, and entrepreneur, Elle launched Elle Fox Art to showcase her illustrations and share the aspects of life that Inspire her. "Hello, I'm Elle Fox and I love to create! I first declared my passion for making art at the age of three, then at five I received my first sketchbook and decided to become an artist! Since then, I've been busy developing my skills in various mediums and cultivating my own artistic perspective. I was born in Buffalo, NY but moved to South Australia after preschool, where my experiences at the beach, markets, parks, and art classes inspired me to draw. I've always been ambitious, and with the influence of my grandmother and various other mentors, I decided early on that I would be an art teacher. When I was eight, my family relocated to the Philadelphia area and we welcomed the first of many foster children into our home the following year. The subject matter of many of my projects has been greatly influenced by the children that we've known and loved; they always seem to find their way into the meaning, story, or purpose of my art. Family is vitally important to me, and mine has enormously supported my creativity and allowed me to grow far more than I could have on my own.  Over the years, I have experimented greatly with how to share my work when I stumbled across an idea for a children's book that I couldn't let go to waste. Now, thanks to the goodness of God and the amazing people who've helped me along the way, I have been able to fully embrace this medium of storytelling."ellefoxart.comIG @ellefoxartMeatball and Little Birdie available on Amazon and elsewhere.See bonusbabies.org to know more about what we are doing and please donate to support us by making a 100% tax-deductible contribution. Episode 359: Little Birdie Buddies of Minnesota with Heather Boschke Episode Notes Even though crystallized snowflakes continue falling in the Midwest, signs of spring surround us. Longer days of sunlight melt the most recent snowfall. You can hear birds chirping on walks outside. Today is a perfect time to talk about Guest Mentor Heather Boschke's first book, Little Birdie Buddies of Minnesota, now available.  Little Birdie Buddies of Minnesota is part of Heather's lifework to leave pieces of her heart wherever she goes. “Set free that voice that lives inside you,” she suggests. Heather dedicated her book “to anyone who hasn't yet discovered their wings to fly – they are always there and ready for takeoff.” And she writes, “to my lovebird, Tom; thank you for making me feel both held and free.” We discuss the meaning of being held and free in her marriage. Throughout our conversation, Heather describes Universal winks that she notices when it is time to change. Before Heather felt held and free with her lovebird Tom, she was engaged to someone else. The wedding date was set. The dress was purchased, and then a wink from the Universe arrived. The wedding preparations gave Heather a preview of her future. A future she realized she didn't want. Heather acted upon that Universe wink by calling off the wedding. Letting go of conformity is transformative. And so is being in a relationship without judgment, conditions, and free of unsolicited advice. That's how Heather felt when she brought up the idea of illustrating and publishing a book to Tom. Tom encourages her to spread her wings. She knows she is loveable and can let out what is in her heart. She enables you to follow the tugs of your heart and flex your wings. “Hard times prepare us for the next part of our life,” says Heather. Her life reflects the fulfilling outcomes of responding to winks from the Universe. Her heart sings and dances with joy. We also explore a few other business and life topics—the book publishing process. Naming the birds in Heather's book, we are most like; how Heather is healing from the death of a pet; our new arrival; and how Heather uses LinkedIn. Book Publishing. Heather used print-on-demand to publish Little Birdie Buddies of Minnesota. The Universe wink came to her through a voice she heard in 2020 telling her to start drawing again. Find out if Heather will self-publish her second book. I found her unique insights helpful to any emerging author.    Twenty Minnesota birds are outlined in her book. “Lucy the Loon is Minnesota's state bird. She is shy and thoughtful, and the water is her favorite place to be.” She has named each bird and its characteristics. Heather encourages us to name the birds most like us. You'll find out which birds we identify with the most. Who is Gilda the Goldfinch? Always cheerful, friendly, and loves to dance. What about Winnie, the red-headed woodpecker who is bold, strong, and likes to lead? Who chose three birds? The hardworking, helpful, and adventurous tree swallow named Sydney. Betty the black-capped chickadee who's tough, daring, and good at making new friends. And Owen, the Baltimore oriole with a good imagination, likes building things. Everyone can learn a few things about birds and themselves by reading Little Birdie Buddies of Minnesota. Pets and LinkedIn. As Heather and I began getting to know each other, Heather shared the recent loss of Rex, her dog. After our conversation, she emailed the following LinkedIn post of a spontaneous leap Rex took onto her lap before a zoom meeting. With her permission, click here to see it.   The video of Rex Heather shared on LinkedIn, and to her surprise, caused an outpouring of love from humans. I love how she describes this experience, the sweet little moment she shared with Rex. I asked Heather why she chose to share this personal post on LinkedIn. While the Twitter Files revealed...not much at all...the right continues to push Elon Musk's "revelations" as hard as Hunter Biden's magical laptop, which seems to absorb every ill in society like Pandora's infamous box. And then there's Russell Brand, who can't turn away from a good conspiracy, or a bad one. He talks about Hunter's laptop and more with Matt Taibbi in a recent hour-long Rumble session. This week is part one of Derek and Julian's deconstruction of what went down, why it ultimately doesn't matter, and why it matters very much to both Brand's and Taibbi's brand building. Show NotesWill the Real Tesla Founder Please Stand Up? -- -- --Support us on PatreonPre-order Conspirituality: How New Age Conspiracy Theories Became a Health Threat: America | Canada Follow us on Instagram | Twitter: Derek | Matthew | JulianOriginal music by EarthRise SoundSystem

Yes, we're talking about Metroid: Other M again, the most controversial Metroid game that Metroid fans can't seem to be able to forgive or forget. But this week, Andy is arguing that the basic premise of the game ("Samus, emotionally reeling following the events of Zebes, answers a distress call on a mysterious GF ship where she meets her old commanding officer and learns of a sinister conspiracy involving GF-made biological weapons, all while dealing with a traitor amongst the ranks trying to keep the conspiracy a secret.") isn't all that bad, and with a few tweaks and character changes, it could be really good! Andy is trying to sell our pal KiwiTalkz on his new version of the story with a different payoff for the Deleter, a retooled MD and Madeline Bergman, a more Alien-esq approach to Little Birdie and Ridley, and a complete change in the way that Samus and Adam interact! All this, PLUS we touch on the recent comments from former Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aimé about Metroid: Other M missing the mark. Come let us know if you think Andy's story draft is an improvement, or if the basic premise is too flawed to succeed! This episode of the Tell Us Something podcast was recorded live in person in front of a sold-out crowd at The Wilma in Missoula, MT. Four storytellers share their true personal stories live without notes on the theme “Stone Soup”. Four storytellers share their true personal stories live without notes on the theme “Stone Soup”. A dramatic river rescue, bullets confiscated at TSA, a middle-aged woman cookin’ up an incredible stew and a man, a porcupine, a jar of pickles, and a little birdie. Our podcast today was recorded in front of a live audience on March 30, 2022, at The Wilma in Missoula, MT. 8 storytellers shared their true personal stories on the theme “Stone Soup”. Today we hear from 4 of those storytellers. Our first story comes to us from Tess Sneeringer. After her friend falls down a hill on rock scree, Tess Sneeringer puts her training to work. She, along with several of her friends, paddle through the night to bring their injured friend to safety. Tess calls her story “All Aboard the River Ambulance ”. Tess Sneeringer grew up escaping the suits and the stress of Washington, DC by following her older brother down the current of the Potomac River every summer. She is now settled in Missoula and works for Parks and Recreation. Our next storyteller is a Tell Us Something storyteller alumni. You can listen to all of the stories that she’s shared right here. Joyce Gibbs has some very special hunting bullets confiscated at TSA, she resolves to get them back. Joyce calls her story “Only in Missoula. Only on Christmas.” or “If You Don't Ask, You Can't Hear Yes.” (Hat tip to Chris LaTray) Joyce Gibbs is a resilient, creative, and adventurous woman who was raised in Missoula. After a brief stint in New York City and then in New Orleans, she bought a dilapidated railroad house on Missoula's Northside and spent the next 15 years remodeling it and making it her own. Joyce loves being in nature on Montana's abundant rivers, and hiking and hunting in the woods. When she is not busy building beautiful spaces with her tile installation at Joyce of Tile, you can find her riding her motorcycle, gardening, going for neighborhood walks with her husband of 12 years, Marc (that’s me!), and their kitten Ziggy. In our next story, Lizzie Juda finds awakening after middle age in a story that she calls “Something's Cookin' in My Pot”. Lizzi Juda has been a proud resident of the westside of Missoula for nearly 33 years. She is the founder and co-director of Turning the Wheel Missoula and has over 25 years of experience teaching improvisational movement classes, expressive arts groups, and ceremonial rituals. She is passionate about providing opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to play, move and connect deeply with themselves and express their creative spark. She is an absolutely avid advocate for accordion and alliteration artistry and is a wannabe beat poet. She considers movement and touch her first languages and is finding her way with words. She identifies most with being a mojo sprinkling pixie Rounding out this episode of the Tell Us Something podcast, Brent Ruby buys a jar of pickles for a gathering with friends. No one ever opens the jar of pickles, so he brings it home. The hitchhiker he picks up along the way is very happy to learn about this magic pickle jar.”Paws, Claws, Pickles and a Little Birdie” Brent Ruby is a research professor at the University of Montana and has been on a nearly 30-year quest to do good science. He also is committed to writing his own brand of ornery poetry during his relentless study of applied human physiology. One of Brent’s research goals is to effectively share his research findings to improve the health and performance of wildland firefighters. Brent spends time outside of his research in the great outdoors of Montana with his wife Jo and their border collies, Wrango and Banjo. Brent also enjoys building hollow wood stand-up paddleboards, woodwork, art, and writing children's books. Check out his books, download free coloring book pages, and more at wrangoandbanjo.com.

Today's podcast guest is Matthew Papuchis, a dear friend, author, and communications expert. We worked together at Ritz-Carlton where he led the internal communications team for conveying service values to all of the properties globally. Matt is very unique because he approached this role looking to gather input and resources from others, instead of simply sharing his own personal ideas and vision. We discuss: -The role of internal communications for driving success across the enterprise -How sharing information inspires performance, creates buzz, and develops brand ambassadors -Why not sharing updates is a disservice and that its OK to not KNOW everything -How writing his book, "A Little Birdie Told Me..." allowed him to heal, find hope, and offered him encouragement to FLY during the pandemic Matthew Papuchis is an award-winning corporate communications strategist and internal communications leader currently serving as Director of Internal Communications for Inova Health System, Northern Virginia's leading nonprofit healthcare provider. He recently published his first book in March 2021, a nonfiction work titled A Little Birdie Told Me... A Journey to Find Hope, Happiness and the Wings to Fly, based on his experiences and the lessons learned as he dealt with unemployment and battled self-doubt amid the global pandemic in the summer of 2020. Matt has worked for some of the world's leading brands and most admired companies, where he has led internal and executive communications at organizations such as Marriott International, The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, Carnival Cruise Line, and Sodexo, Inc. Matt has also been a guest speaker at various conferences on internal communications, including how to leverage the power of storytelling to inspire employee performance. Matt received his M.A. in Strategic Communication and Leadership from Seton Hall University and his B.S. in Mass Communication from Towson University, where he was the sports editor of the university newspaper, The Towerlight. Matt also has been a freelance journalist, with articles published in numerous publications including the Washington Post, Baltimore Sun, and the Gazette Newspapers of Montgomery County, Maryland.
