Should the school be able to keep kid's personal information away from the parents?? AOC does and it's a hilariously bad take, but I'm only talking about it because I want to date her of course. Anyways today's episode is a great one that's short and just goofy news. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/theramblingviking/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/theramblingviking/support

The old debate: Who should be responsible for what children see? Parents have been up in arms with movies, TV shows, video games, and now social media. Who should take responsibility when things go wrong? Do parents have a case against social media if their child losses their life when doing a TikTok “challenge”, or if relentless bulling causes a child to take their own life, or if a child develops an eating disorder because underweight models and pro-ED images are constantly shown on their feed?Have a topic you want Rachel and Theon to debate? Imagine hearing the words "Your child has a very aggressive form of childhood cancer. Imagine being told he has a 20% chance to live 5 years." My guest today is Silvia Vanni born and raised in South Florida. She has five amazing children, Steven, Adrian, Samantha, Sergio, and her baby Salvatore who tragically died one month shy of his 8th Birthday on March 19th, 2011. Silvia founded the Mystic Force Foundation with her husband in 2008 when they realized how little money goes to research for childhood cancer. They were determined to find a cure for their son Sal and all the other children like him. They also started a lab at the University of Miami for childhood cancer research, where the Mystic Force Foundation continues to fund groundbreaking research. Since her baby died she made it her mission in life to save all the kids she can and to make their time during treatment as happy & 'fun' as possible. Let's continue the conversation! Does it seem like everyone is doing a better job at parenting than you? Today I have author, speaker and radio host Ann Wilson on the show. It was such a treat to have her on today, she shared her experience raising her 3 sons and the things that she learned. Ann started off talking about the "minivan days" ages 5-12 and how fun those ages were and how she took advantage of being in the car with her kids for so many hours. She also shared with us how they decided that when the kids were younger that they wanted their home to be the home the kids all wanted to go to and how they went about creating that space. Ann also talked about the teen years and what she learned from that time frame and what things she would of changed. One topic that stood out to me, that it's so easy to compare yourself to other moms that you feel like are doing it better. Hear what she has to say about this topic and more on the podcast. If you liked this episode make sure to listen to this one about the difference your family can make. Click HERE I have something exciting to share with you.... Three years after Chris Miller and Phil Lord's film of The LEGO Movie hit theaters, a spinoff (sort of) sequel, The LEGO Batman Movie, gives us more Batman. But what Batman, you might ask (and once again voiced by Will Arnett)? Hoo-boy. There's more than one, and it seems different ages get the Batman they deserve (or, if they're lucky, want). This Batman is... not like the others. Certainly not how he sees his 9 ab muscles (yes, 9), or how he prefers his solitude with his reruns of Jerry Maguire (hilarious to laugh at 'You had me at hello') and his lobsters he eats whole. But what about... family? Could he bring in an orphan to be a "padre" to? What if Robin becomes like he did - you know, DARKNESS! NO PARENTS! Mighty Blue On The Appalachian Trail: The Ultimate Mid-Life Crisis
James Claiborne was a fellow member of the Class of 2014. I only met him a few times, though once, memorably, at the Curly Maple Shelter, just outside Erwin, TN. He was with the self-styled team of No Parents, No Bedtime, with Hawkeye, True Story, Science Tooth, and James, or Buchanan, himself. Their joy at being on the trail was infectious, with the team sticking together, in one iteration or another, for about 1,900 miles. They took time off the trail together, they camped together and, for a lot of the time, they hiked together. From left to right, No Parents, No Bedtime are James (Buchanan), True Story, Hawkeye, and Science Tooth. I still can't get over the fact that these crazy hikers did this. By the look of the picture, nor can they. You can find James on Facebook by clicking here, and you can email him directly at raven2543@mail.com. Jessa Hackman gives her first update in this week's episode, with her choice of footwear her main focus. Jessa is still hoping to be named by our listeners, with a prize of the print versions of my books, My Appalachian Trial I: Three Weddings and a Sabbatical and My Appalachian Trial II: Creaking Geezer, Hidden Flagon for the winner. Please don't forget to rate the show on iTunes and leave a review; it really helps and I appreciate the effort. To make it easier, click here, and you'll be taken straight to the podcast on iTunes. In this episode Chris and Dennis follow Bruce Wayne to an underground fight club. What's that? We're not supposed to talk about fight club? Sorry. We didn't know the rules... Then we head to Daily Planet, where Perry White is being a jerk to Clark Kent because Clark thinks the paper should do some actual journalism. Senator Finch pays a visit to Lex Luthor, who is getting philosophical and vaguely threatening. Then we take a trip into Bruce's mind during a dream sequence, where he finds darkness and no parents. Ladies, gents and everything in between, welcome to Episode 49 of Stacey's Pop Culture Parlour; the podcast best served with tea and cake! (Except there's no cake...Someone bring cake!!) Joining Stacey in The Parlour this month is comics colourist and creator and all-around cracking chap, Kris Carter! Kris and Stacey discuss some of Kris' comic work, including Transformers (and how Stacey suffers from the rare condition of Transformers Blindness (i.e. the inability to tell most robots apart)), Doctor Who (and Kris' love/hate relationship with pinstripes) and the soon-to-be-Kickstarted Bruce Outback! Stacey raves about how fantastic Giant Days is, how terrible the Jem and The Holograms movie is and how she thought she'd taken hallucinogenic drugs when she was actually just watching the Japanese movie House, whilst Kris discusses Druid Investigations, gives his thoughts on the upcoming Preacher series and loads more! All this, plus Stacey spoils the entire plot of Predestination in a bid to understand it. She still doesn't understand it. Enjoy!
