Our guest today is Michelle Tam, founder and co-creator of the renowned Nom Nom Paleo universe. Dubbed the Queen of Paleo Cooking, she's co-authored several cookbooks, The New York Times bestselling Nom Nom Paleo, Food for Humans, Ready or Not, and her most recent Nom Nom Paleo: Let's Go!. She is devoted to sharing paleo, gluten-free and Whole30 recipes, kitchen tips and tricks with a focus on ancestral health, quick and easy eats, and staying paleo while on the go. We chat about her initial discovery of paleo and how it successfully addressed digestion issues earlier in her life before delving into the ways the wide-reaching career that's come from it has impacted how she and her family eats on a daily basis. Along the way, we also get some great kitchen gadget recommendations, talk about boundaries and social media expectations, and hash out a Cracklin' Chicken recipe that will work for any busy family. More than a pure paleo evangelist, she thinks people should figure out what works for them in terms of diet, and actually pay attention to how food makes them feel. It's a fresh take, and one that we're hearing more and more of in the space as we move away from strict regimens and all-for-one wellness advice. It's another ZestHacks episode, featuring the world’s cleanest vodka, an update on the Footpads we spoke about last week, zero drop footwear that my feet love (this is an ongoing quest), the top clean sunscreen, a great way to cook healthy with my top gadget currently, and an eco-friendly clothing brand we love. Starting with the vodka. The idea is that the less impurities in an alcohol, the less likely you are to react to it. In other words, the less likely it is to give you a stinking hangover. And I am unfortunately Mr Sensitive these days when it comes to booze. But I might have cracked it with my new fave voddie. Listen on to find out more.
In support of my own autoimmune health, I'm taking a sabbatical for the rest of December and releasing two of my favorite episodes from the archives that you might have missed. Today's episode originally aired 3 years ago, but it's a timeless topic. When you first switch to a paleo diet, you lose a lot of your standard recipes, are introduced to a bunch of new ingredients, and it’s not uncommon to feel lost in your own kitchen. Today, we have expert paleo tour guides! Mel Joulwan is the author of the bestselling Well Fed Cookbook Series, Rachael Bryant is the author of the AIP cookbook Nourish, and Laura Vein from the blog Sweet Treats is a former pastry chef turned AIP baker. They share their best tips with us today.
GD Foodie Dr. Karen S. Lee talks about why she eats a primarily paleo diet and about her new book Paleo Cooking with Your Air Fryer. Yum.
Dr. Karen S Lee's journey to healthy cooking, eating and living began with the birth of her first child. As a mom, Dr. Lee found herself paying much closer attention to the foods she prepared and fed to her family, as well as the many ways her lifestyle was affecting her family's health. Years of positive experiences with her chiropractor and the tangible benefits of those treatments led Dr. Lee to enter the field herself to make a difference in the health and happiness of others. As a holistic practitioner with a Doctor of Chiropractic degree, Dr. Lee treated patients and their various ailments with standard chiropractic care, acupuncture, nutrition therapy and general wellness coaching. Dr. Lee believes many illnesses can be reversed through proper diet, supplements, and stress management protocols. Eventually, Dr. Lee left her successful practice to be a full time support to her family, but her learning journey continued as she pursued a healthier lifestyle and confronted her children's increasing health challenges. Today, she shares her knowledge on her website and works to build a community among like-minded people who would rather focus on prevention than sickness. Dr. Lee is retired and an Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Fellow. You can find her blogging about holistic health, real food recipes (mostly allergy friendly), and natural living tips on her website Dr Karen S Lee Dr. Lee's first cookbook, Paleo Cooking with Your Air Fryer: 80+ Recipes for Healthier Fried Food in Less Time, was released in October of 2018. Her next cookbook, Keto Cooking with Your Instant Pot,is scheduled to be published in January of 2019.

Hi friends! You may have noticed that I haven't recorded a podcast for several weeks! I'm sorry if you've been missing them! I promise you that the unfolding thats been happening in my life the last couple months and the fruits that are coming from it will makeup for the lapse. In this episode, I'm sharing the amazing new revelations that have been coming to me that has led to profound levels of peace, happiness and presence in my life. Whats happening for me is possible for you, and my intention is that you know yourself as capable of creating and receiving your hearts deepest desires, whether it be for family, career, relationship, adventure, contribution...or all of them like me! These are the classes I've been participating in lately that I referenced in the episode. This list is in no way exhaustive, just what I've called to me. If you're interested in going deeper into your life's purpose, my best advice is to check them out, talk with others about the stuff they've done, and ask yourself what is best for you now. Beyond the chatter of your mind, allow the answer to come to you. Once you have it, trust it, and go for it!! Also, be straight with yourself as to whether a "NO" is a real no or fear/resistance. I PROMISE you that the real you wants to experience greater self expression, peace and happiness, and the ego would much prefer to keep things status quo. Here and here are a couple posts about that if this is confusing to you. Beginner: Landmark Education: This is the gateway drug into the world of transformation. In my opinion, participating in the Landmark Forum it is the cheapest and fastest way to experience a radical shift in the quality of your life. I have dont most of their programs at this point, which were foundational in putting me on the beautiful path I'm on now. PAX: These are softer, fuzzier courses that shift your perception of and relationship to men and yourself as a woman (most courses are just for women or co-ed). I particularly loved the Queen Course. Men & Sex was fun, too :) FamilyCo.: Peter and Jennifer are good friends of mine. They're just getting started leading programs that transform whats possible for families and relationships. It is a similar flavor to Landmarks programs, but specific to relationship and partnership. Advanced: Tribal Truth: For sure sign-up for Tanya's mailing list. Her Tuesday emails are amazing. The focus here is empowering women as entrepreneurs, healing relationships between men and women, and integrating the masculine/feminine polarities in yourself. Many of her programs are in San Diego, but she has some new workshops popping up in other spots, too. Wonderful. Abraham Hicks: Holy guacamole, I've been listening to this YouTube channel everyday for the last couple weeks. AMAZING. Access Consciousness: I am about to embark on a 5-day course that I expect to rock my world. This is probably not the first step in ones journey of transformation. I have done just a couple short sessions so far, and the effects have been far-reaching. More to come :) Connect with Camille: Recipe Rx Facebook Paleo Cooking at Home: Fast Cheap & Easy (new program)
This was a webinar for the Recipe Rx community that turned into a podcast that will empower you to eat fast, easy and cheap paleo meals at home EVERY NIGHT of the week. These are the same skills I use to feed myself! Being a busy girl, single-handedly running a business on a tight budget isn't easy, and if I didn't implement these strategies in my life, I'd starve or be chained to a fast-food restaurant, desperately trying to find something paleo-ish or living off energy bars or some other weird pseudo-healthy-but-not-really stuff. Homie don't play that game. Over the years, I have distilled all of my fancy chef skills into just the ones you need, plus cherry-picked a couple strategies that allow me to spend about $125/week on food (all organic, paleo AND I drink 32oz of green juice everyday). If I wasn't juicing, it'd be about $75/week. For organic, paleo food?!?!??! That's cray-cray cheap. AND I spend 7.5 hours TOPS preparing all meals FROM SCRATCH. That's 20 minutes and $5.95 a meal ALL ORGANIC WITH GREEN JUICE! I believe so deep in my heart that being empowered to cook this way at home is the very best LIFE & HEALTH INSURANCE you can have, and its REALLY NOT HARD! You just need some skillz and a mindset shift around it all! Learn more: http://getpaleogasm.reciperx.com/fasteasycheap/
