The imagery of putting off the old nature like a dead carcass is particularly striking, urging us to embrace our new identity. As we grapple with the presence of sin in our lives, we're encouraged to remember that we're fighting a defeated foe - Satan has been disarmed, and we have the authority in Christ to resist him. This message calls us to live out our faith actively, submitting to God and resisting the devil, knowing that we have been given all things in Christ for godliness and power.### Sermon Notes#### Key Themes:1. **Sin and Grace:**  - Sin, deriving from the Greek word "hamartia," means to miss the mark, as in archery when one misses the bullseye. Even for Christians, the temptation to sin remains an ever-present danger. Mortifying our sin is thus a battle we must earnestly wage, as John Owen wisely said, “Be killing sin, or it will be killing you!” But how do we engage this mortal enemy? The Apostle Paul gives four points of wisdom in Romans 8:13-14: First, stop paying the flesh, because you owe it nothing. Second, if you’re fighting sin, know that you’re dead to sin and alive to God. Third, do it by the Spirit—not by asceticism or personal discipline—but by the power of sanctifying grace. And speaking of making the best, let's talk about the towing company fiasco. Ever dealt with a tow company that's more of a headache than help? Yeah, us too. From outrageous fees to the runaround, it's a saga you won't believe. We also had a blast at the pool party, celebrated with some Sun Cruisers (Joe's lemon, anyone?), and got hilariously wine drunk. Shout out to the 1.5-liter bottles of wine—those things are trouble! Ever had a wine hangover? It's no joke. Picture bloodshot eyes, a pounding headache, and feeling like you're breathing fire. Yep, we've been there. On a lighter note, we're diving back into some fun with Plungeons and Dragons on Patreon.
