What are your thoughts on the Dead Sea scrolls and the Book of Enoch? Can a Christian commit the unforgiveable sin, and can someone who commits the unforgiveable sin become a Christian? Please explain Titus 3:13. In Genesis 41:55, when the famine covered the face of the earth, was it referring to just the Middle Eastern region? Are there two holy days, Sunday and Saturday? Is it true that in this life that absolutely no one owes you anything? Do you think that God used Joseph's upbringing and time of captivity to train him for economic decisions he made in Egypt? How should Christians apply Jude 3 today? Can a true Christian be deceived? Shouldn't Christians avoid compromise like Moses's refusal to compromise with Pharoah? Has God's Word changed about women preachers? Listen as Pastor/Dr. David Murphy discusses this and other listener questions.

What does it take to climb a Himalayan peak, one identical twin in modern mountaineering kit and the other in the wool and leather of George Mallory's 1920s wardrobe? That's exactly the question adventurers Hugo and Ross Turner, better known as the Turner Twins, are about to answer. In this episode, recorded just before they set off for Mera Peak in Nepal, the brothers share the thinking behind their latest expedition: a side-by-side experiment pitting modern gear against vintage Mallory equipment at over 21,000 feet. With identical DNA and mirror-image physiology, the twins are uniquely placed to test how technology, or the lack of it, really impacts human performance. They talk candidly about what drew them into a life of extreme challenges, how a devastating neck injury sparked their first Atlantic crossing, and why the lure of risk and survival keeps pulling them back to the wild. There are stories of priceless hiking boots, mindset battles in the cold, and even a glimpse of the science they'll be running on the mountain, from sleep tracking to stress tests.Adventure, history, data, and brotherly rivalry, this one has a bit of all of it.________________________________The ainslie + ainslie Performance People podcast talks to high-performers in the world of sport and beyond, to bring defining moments, hard-earned insights and expert advice to everyday performance. A cutting-edge volume on current trends in sex work, from sugar relationships and cyber brothels to financial domination, sex worker activism, and feminist porn Sex is for sale in more ways than ever. It can be bought and sold online, in sex clubs, on the street, and around the world. As with many industries, discrimination, exploitation, and inequality persist in sex work. Yet it also offers autonomy, job satisfaction, and even pleasurable experiences for those involved. Sex Work Today: Erotic Labor in the Twenty-First Century by Dr. Bernadette Barton, Dr. Barbara G. Brents, and Dr. Angela N. Jones explores these contradictions, offering an intimate look at the benefits and challenges of sex work across geographic contexts. Featuring thirty-one original essays by sex workers, advocates, researchers, and activists, Sex Work Today is the first compilation of research on new forms of digital sex such as camming, sugar dating, and AI sex dolls. Providing a lens to understand contemporary labor dynamics and the nature of sex work itself, this collection captures formerly ignored aspects of the sex industry including: fatphobia and disability; transmasculine and nonbinary sex workers; racialized emotional labor in the digital sex industry; high job satisfaction among professional dominatrixes; and sex worker scholars. With federal policies ostensibly aimed at combating sex trafficking–affecting all sex workers–understanding this industry is more vital than ever. Decentering Western, white, cisgender voices, Sex Work Today underscores the global repercussions of these misaligned policies, which make sex work more challenging and less safe, and provides valuable insights for those seeking to shape policies, challenge prejudices, and foster a safer and more equitable world for all. Michael O. Johnston, Ph.D. is a Assistant Professor of Sociology at William Penn University. He is the author of The Social Construction of a Cultural Spectacle: Floatzilla (Lexington Books, 2023) and Community Media Representations of Place and Identity at Tug Fest: Reconstructing the Mississippi River (Lexington Books, 2022). His general area of study is at the intersection of space, behavior, and identity. He is currently conducting research about: escape rooms, the use of urban design in downtown historical neighborhoods of rural communities, and what it means for college students to belong in college and university. The best podcast for military veterans, police officers, firefighters, and first responders preparing for veteran transition and life after service. Helping you plan and implement strategies to prepare for your transition into civilian life. In this episode, former Army Soldier Travis Lane shares a candid and compelling look at his journey—from struggling young adult to military veteran, and ultimately to business leader and advocate for veteran transition success. Raised in a hardworking blue-collar family in Norwich, Connecticut, Travis grew up chasing basketball dreams and navigating early adulthood without much direction or mentorship. After years of bouncing between seasonal jobs and short-term wins, he sought structure and enlisted in the Army at age 30—later than most, but ready for change. Basic training at Fort Benning and life as a Cavalry Scout gave Travis more than military skills. It gave him perspective. He thrived as a leader but saw through the institution's limits. He realized quickly that a military career wouldn't provide the autonomy, wealth-building potential, or long-term control he wanted. So, he chose not to reenlist. Post-service, Travis made bold, strategic moves—leveraging his benefits, earning an MBA, and founding The Nucleus Company, a veteran-led organization that empowers military veterans to define and design their futures. His mission is clear: help others make informed decisions about education, finances, and careers beyond the uniform. Travis's story is a blueprint for life after service—equal parts grit, growth, and guidance. For any veteran considering a career change, for any service member wondering what comes next, this conversation is a must-listen.CONNECT WITH THE PODCAST:IG: WEBSITE: LinkedIn: SIGN-UP FOR THE NEWSLETTER:QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS:CONNECT WITH TRAVIS LANESPONSORS:Brothers & Arms USAGet 20% off your purchaseLink: https://brothersandarms.comPromo Code: Transition20Trident CoffeeGet 15% off your purchaseLink: https://tridentcoffee.comPromo Code: TDP15Human Performance TRTGet 30% off your purchaseWeb: https://hptrt.com/Promo Code: TDP
Welcome to episode #980 of Six Pixels of Separation - The ThinkersOne Podcast. Tamara Myles is one of the world's leading experts on meaningful work, with a career that bridges research, leadership consulting, and positive psychology. She's the author of The Secret To Peak Productivity, a sought-after speaker and advisor to companies like Microsoft and KPMG, and one of the first 600 people in the world to earn a master's in Applied Positive Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania. In her new book, Meaningful Work - How To Ignite Passion And Performance In Every Employee (co-authored with Wes Adams), Tamara brings both scientific rigor and real-world empathy to one of the most pressing challenges of our time: how to make work feel like it matters. In this conversation, Tamara shares the results of her multi-year study - the first of its kind - on how leaders influence meaning in the workplace. She introduces the three core drivers of meaningful work: community, contribution, and challenge, and explains why they're more relevant than ever in a world grappling with burnout, disconnection, and shifting values around work. We also talk about the lasting impact of the pandemic, the rise of employee apathy, and how social media has warped our collective expectations about fulfillment. Tamara, who teaches at both the University of Pennsylvania and Boston College, blends her academic insight with a deeply human perspective - reminding us that meaning is not just a nice-to-have, but a business imperative. Billy Carson, a Harvard-certified expert in ancient civilizations and an MIT-trained scholar in neuroscience, has spent decades decoding the mysteries of lost technology, quantum reality, and human optimization. Alongside Elisabeth Carson, a biohacker and neuroscience researcher, they bridge the gap between ancient wisdom and modern science—revealing secrets that could transform your mind, body, and reality. What if the Great Pyramid wasn't just a monument but a powerful energy device designed to amplify human potential? What if ancient civilizations understood frequency, grounding, and longevity in ways modern science is only beginning to grasp? In this episode, the Carsons connect the dots between lost technology, bioenergetics, and conscious relationships, showing how these ancient systems align with the latest research on vibrational healing, mitochondrial energy, and peak performance. They explore how quantum fields influence cellular regeneration, why high-frequency living affects health and relationships, and how suppressed knowledge could redefine the future of wellness. What You'll Learn: • How the Great Pyramid functioned as an energy generator—and how to apply its principles to longevity • The forgotten science of frequency and its effects on health, aging, and vitality • How quantum energy and grounding can optimize mitochondrial function • The connection between biohacking, consciousness, and relationships • Why suppressed ancient knowledge holds the key to true human potential Resources: • 2025 Biohacking Conference: https://biohackingconference.com/2025 • 4biddenknowledge YouTube – https://www.youtube.com/@ForbiddenKnowledge1 • 4biddenknowledge Website – https://www.4biddenknowledge.com/ • Billy Carson Instagram – https://www.instagram.com/4biddenknowledge/?hl=en • Elisabeth Carson Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/elisabethicarson/?hl=en • Danger Coffee: https://dangercoffee.com • Dave Asprey's Website: https://daveasprey.com • Dave Asprey's Book – Smarter Not Harder: https://daveasprey.com/books • Dave Asprey's Linktree: https://linktr.ee/daveasprey • Upgrade Collective – Join The Human Upgrade Podcast Live: https://www.ourupgradecollective.com • Own an Upgrade Labs: https://ownanupgradelabs.com • Upgrade Labs: https://upgradelabs.com • 40 Years of Zen – Neurofeedback Training for Advanced Cognitive Enhancement: https://40yearsofzen.com SPONSORS: Zbiotics | Go to https://zbiotics.com/DAVE for 15% off your first order. This is a fascinating episode that takes up thinkers that the podcast has covered before—the Koch brothers, Austrian economists like Ludwig von Mises and Friedrich Hayek, and others—but from a different angle: that of the entrepreneurial work ethic. Historian Erik Baker's superb book on the topic, Make Your Own Job: How the Entrepreneurial Work Ethic Exhausted America, offers a genuinely absorbing tour of this most American of ideologies, one that has emerged again and again, in various guises and in different circumstances, to reconcile workers to the contradictions of the U.S. economy, especially the shortage of jobs that has come with its many "innovations" and changes. What are the historical and even spiritual sources of the entrepreneurial work ethic, and what ideological needs does it serve for bosses and managers? Why is it so seductive to Americans? How does it relate to deeply American impulses relating to responsibility, guilt, and shame? In what ways did the entrepreneurial work ethic serve U.S. aims during the Cold War? And how has it endured in our age of Silicon Valley tech overlords and Donald Trump, entrepreneur, being re-elected? We take up these questions and many more in this rich conversation.Sources:Erik Baker, Make Your Own Job: How the Entrepreneurial Work Ethic Exhausted America (2025)— "Fairytale in the Supermarket," The Baffler, Jan 14, 2025Dale Carnegie, How to Win Friends and Influence People (1936)Norman Vincent Peale, The Power of Positive Thinking (1952)Sarah Jaffe, Work Won't Love You Back: How Devotion to Our Jobs Keeps Us Exploited, Exhausted, and Alone, (2021)Listen again:"Bomb Power" (w/ Erik Baker), Dec 19, 2023...and don't forget to subscribe to Know Your Enemy on Patreon to listen to all of our premium episodes!
Sign-up for my free 20-day devotional, The Word Before Work Foundations, at http://TWBWFoundations.com--Series: Mere Christians of the BibleDevotional: 2 of 5Jesus traveled about from one town and village to another, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom of God. The Twelve were with him, and also some women…Mary (called Magdalene) …Joanna the wife of Chuza, the manager of Herod's household; Susanna; and many others. These women were helping to support them out of their own means. (Luke 8:1-3)We're in a series exploring wisdom for our work today from some of the “Mere Christians of the Bible”—believers who did not work as pastors or donor-supported missionaries, but as entrepreneurs, tax collectors, and more.Today's passage introduces us to three mere Christians: Mary, Joanna, and Susanna who “were helping to support” Jesus and the twelve disciples “out of their own means.”Most scholars believe that Joanna was likely the wealthiest of this trio, given her position in Herod's court. But many also believe these women were likely small business owners who worked hard to produce the profits needed to fund Jesus's ministry.Mary, Joanna, and Susanna remind us of three important truths.First, God frequently celebrates women who work “outside the home.” From Eve working alongside Adam in the garden (Genesis 1:26-28), to the midwives God used to defy Pharaoh (Exodus 1:15-21), to Deborah's leading of Israel (Judges 4:4-5), to Mary, Joanna, and Susanna supporting Jesus's ministry, Scripture consistently shows God delighting in the work of his daughters.Second, our work has intrinsic and instrumental value to God. I talk a lot in these devotionals about how your work has intrinsic value to God—in other words, it matters for eternity even when you're not leveraging it to some instrumental and spiritual end such as sharing the gospel or writing a check to the missionaries pictured on your refrigerator. But these women remind us that our work does have important instrumental value. In fact, Paul says that is one of the reasons why mere Christians ought to work: so “that they may have something to share with those in need” (see Ephesians 4:28) including those who rely on the generosity of others to preach the gospel (see 1 Corinthians 9:14).Finally, God values offstage work as much as he does onstage work. Scripture doesn't mention these women preaching or performing miracles like the twelve disciples, but their offstage roles were so valued by God that Luke records them in his gospel. If you're working in relative obscurity today, take heart—God “will not forget your work” either (Hebrews 6:10).How should we respond to the three truths above?Thank God for the gift of working women (and, if you're a woman, for a God who delights in the work you do inside and outside the home).Ask the Lord whose work he might be calling you to support “out of your own means.”Remind a mere Christian working “offstage” that God sees and values their work today.
