Interview by Kris PetersUS metal outfit Fire From The Gods consolidated their growing stature in October 2022 with the release of their third album, Soul Revolution.Featuring the singles SOS, Thousand Lifetimes, World So Cold and Soul Revolution, the album quickly became a fan favourite and propelled the band into a fresh legion of fans and supporters.Fans quickly demanded more, so Fire From The Gods have provided with Soul Revolution Deluxe - The Collabs, an extension of the original album featuring the tracks found on the first recording, plus four of the songs re-recorded with collaborations from Yung Mosh, Nate Vickers, Corey Glover and Jayden Panesso as well as a cover of Guerilla Radio by Rage Against The Machine. It portrays the four reworked songs in a different light with the use of guest artists and showcases a different musical side of the band.Vocalist AJ Channer joined HEAVY to dive deeper into the new album which will be released on June 14, starting with if he still feels the same excitement releasing a deluxe version of an album."You know what, I'm happy about this one because as I have told everyone it's about the family with this one," he explained. "It's about the homies and some really solid, close individuals for Fire From The Gods, so I'm really excited about this one. I am excited about the release. Typically, Fire From The Gods will release a record, then we'll do some reimagined version of it. We've done it since our first record, Narrative, and people are really excited about hearing the different version of the solo or a different take or reimagining of the record. But with this one, it's collabs. It's people that specifically are close to our hearts as brothers, as bands, as musicians. We hand-picked those that we wanted for this. I didn't wanna blow it up and get a massive name on it and spend a tonne of money going after Jonathan Davis or some big name to try and boost sales or anything. We really wanted to do it as some homies that we wanted to show love and some people that we know really respect our band and respect what we've got going on."In the full interview, AJ talks more about how fans embraced the original album version, how he measures success in the modern age, runs through each of the collaborations individually and offers more about the songs and why each person was asked to collaborate on it, the Rage Against The Machine cover and why it was chosen, the selection process for which songs appeared on the Deluxe version, touring plans and more.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/heavy-music-interviews--2687660/support.

In this episode of The Journey of my Mother's Son podcast, I sit down with Shane Anderson. Shane is the husband half of the indie/folk husband and wife duo, Arbour Season. They draw inspiration from the incredible adventures they experience all across North America in their converted school bus/home. Their unique journey inspires the ambient folk sound that captures the serenity of the Western vistas, the rhythms of the Eastern coastlines, and the brilliance of the national forests. They express their passion for life through music and invite listeners to travel along with them by listening to the intricate instrumentation, layered harmonies and lyrics that tell their stories. I discovered Arbour Season on Instagram. Their song, Roam is certainly an anthem for nomads everywhere. It's a beautiful song and I encourage everyone to check it out, by clicking here. To find out more about Shane, Arbour Season, their music and their travel adventures, check out their website at https://www.arbourseason.com/.

My, oh, my, we are excited about today's guest, a remarkable musician and guitarist who is about to bless the world with an unbelievably joyful album next week. It's coming out July 14, and it's called Wild & Precious Life. The man of the moment is Duane Betts, and the album is packed with soulful melodies, intricate guitar work, and a raw, heartfelt energy that will take you to the place that great music is supposed to take you. Dare we say, it will tickle you. Son of the legendary Allman Brothers guitarist Dickey Betts, Duane is his own force to be reckoned with in the guitar-based rock and blues scene. After cutting his teeth with the bands Backbone69 and Whitestarr, he spent a decade playing guitar alongside his father as a member of Dickey Betts and Great Southern. He then traveled the world as a touring member of Dawes. But in the last five years, he's been on a tear: He released an EP in 2018 and co-founded The Allman Betts Band, releasing two records in 2019 and 2020. And then, it was finally time for a solo album. Which brings us to Wild & Precious Life, which is being released by our friends at Royal Potato Family. A native of Sarasota, Duane says he wanted to capture “that old school Florida vibe” with this record. Well, he did that and more. Along with a powerhouse of a band - Johnny Stachela on guitar, Berry Duane Oakley on bass, John Ginty on keyboards – all three members of The Allman Betts Band, along with Tyler Greenwell on drums and special guests Marcus King, Nicki Bluhm, and Derek Trucks, Betts has gifted us with 10 scintillating tracks cut live at Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks Swamp Raga Studio in Jacksonville, Florida in 2022. In this episode of The Warrior Podcast, I speak with Steve Siler from the organization Music for the Soul. Steve is a singer/songwriter who has had over 500 of his songs recorded in the Christian, pop, and country music markets. He has been nominated for numerous Dove Awards and won Inspirational Song of the Year for the song I Will Follow Christ. Steve has had 9 #1 Contemporary Christian Songs as well as 45 top ten singles throughout his 30+ year career and we talk about all that during our conversation. But of course, the main area that we focus on in this episode is his work with Music for the Soul, a 501c3 organization that uses the power of music to help individuals who have experienced trauma to navigate through the grieving process, or individuals who are currently dealing with sin in their own life to find the healing they are so desperately in need of. We talk about the science behind how music effects the brain and his book, Music for the Soul, Healing for the Heart that I highly recommend for anyone dealing with grief, addiction, and so much more. Credenda is our musical guest today, they are a family band. I've only had a few of them on the show but I really enjoy this probably more than any other type of interview because of the family dynamics and interaction. I just love getting involved with that, and I'm sure you're going to love being part of this great conversation too. So strap up your seatbelts and let's take a ride to Nashville, Tennessee to visit the family vocal harmony trio, Credenda! Before we get into the show, I just want to remind you that my coaching program is open for you folks out there in need of coaching in these categories: Relationship coaching, Spiritual coaching, Life coaching, and of course, Podcast coaching. So for all my dHarmic Evolution fans and supporters who are looking for life-changing results in any of these areas, please email me at james@dharmicevolution.com I'll set up a 30-minute NO COST, NO OBLIGATION Zoom call for you and I to vet this out and see if we are a good fit together, because this is one-on-one coaching. It's not group coaching. Therefore, I can only handle a limited number of people and I hope it's you! Again, there will be limited spaces available as this is “one-on-one”, so reach out ASAP to reserve a spot! Back to Credenda! Music for the soul, that's what they are! They are a family vocal harmony trio consisting of mom, (Barbara), brother (Daniel), and sister (Anna). Their signature sound, which can be best described as Americana with the heart of Gospel, and it is marked by blood harmony, unique songwriting, and soaring melodies. With a retro yet modern sound, they pay tribute to the bands of the past and present while at the same time bringing a wholly unique and original sound that will bring peace to the listener. They also bring an approach to classic songs that is all their own! You will feel like part of the family as you join them for a time of stories and music! Barbara, Daniel, and Anna shared great stories and experiences, and you will love their sense of humor and most especially the music that we featured here today. It will absolutely be an enjoyable hour, so let us all give Credenda a warm dHarmic Evolution welcome! More about Credenda dHarmic Evolution has been a place for indie music and a lot of up and coming artists are here all the time, so let's show our support for Credenda and their music through different platforms. You can go check out their website, social media pages and music platforms and follow them through these. All the links are provided below! Quotes: 05:51 “I was just a mom. I actually was into classical music. I'm one of these prodigy kids that my parents had in lessons from a very young age, and I gave it up in my late teens, and went into a nursing program instead of following through on my music. And so when we had tons of kids, and they all started showing that they were very musical. I just heard of them all together. We did music together, I would write a bit and they'd sing it and, and it just evolved, but the sound just produces itself, I think.” - Barbara 12:30 “And we go on this sort of little family, with sweet, angelic harmonies. And it was kind of interesting, it didn't matter how drunk people were, everybody just stopped doing anything, and they didn't turn around from the bar. And watch, and listen. So we knew that what we were delivering was having an impact in some way. And somebody told us later that the harmonies bring peace to them. I think there's something about harmony when musicians put harmony together.” - Barbara 22:41 “I wasn't this kid, this millennial that would be glued to my phone growing up. I loved books and literature and the influence of parents that they brought into the house, but the music and just family culture was important to me.” - Anna 26:47 “I'll kind of build everything around that melody, and the lyrics just kind of incidentally, fall into it. And mom was the original lyricist, but she kind of gave me the self belief that I could start contributing to that department. So I've been doing a lot more recently.” - Daniel 42:16 “If I had to go with a word for our recording process, it's casual. We're not like, “I want to do that again, do it again.” People are really doing vocal bits over and over until it's just perfect. A lot of our best work is done like “One Take Jake” style, if we can.” - Credenda 50:42 “When people ask us, “What do you like to do besides music?” And then I always had this saying that musicians don't have a social life in general. We sort of make time to do things in periods throughout the day.” - Daniel 53:40 “My inspiration to any up and coming songwriter that's just hit Nashville or is just trying to make it in music in general, is keep at it. Be patient with yourself, your growth. Always have a circle of friends around you, even if it's just one or two people that kind of anchor you, and have conviction. Don't go for a deal just when it's offered to you, because sometimes it's not the right decision to make. So be patient. Be patient. Just keep at it. It will happen.” - Credenda Timestamps: 01:00 Introducing Credenda 02:30 Introducing the three members of Credenda and how the band was formulated. 04:38 Barbara shares who she was listening to growing up and her influences in music. 07:45How did the name Credenda come about? 09:32 The importance of the dictionary in songwriting. 11:21 How was their experience on Puckett's and if they played there often. 15:04 Listen to “A Bridge in Dickson County” by Credenda 19:14 How did “A Bridge in Dickson County” come to have a life of its own? 22:22 The heroes in music that Anna had as she was growing up. 23:33 Anna shares her journey on bringing out her voice. 25:55 How is Daniel's process in creating and coming up with sounds? 27:02 How do Credenda come up with things and contribute as individuals? 28:43 The story of how Credenda went to Nashville and where they were before that. 34:25 How was Credenda's transition as they stayed in Nashville? 35:36 Listen to “Far Side Of The River” by Credenda 38:52 Who is behind “Far Side Of The River” and what is it about? 40:14 Credenda shares their recording process and how they get their songs completed. 44:55 What do Ann, Daniel and Barbara like to do during their chill time besides music? 52:45 Credenda's sign off message to the audience and inspirational wisdom to the upcoming artists. 54:58 Listen to “Ride On” by James Kevin O'Connor Spotify Playlist: Make sure you're not missing out on all our “Rising dHarmic Stars Spotify Playlists”. Music Therapy is a highly accessible medium for active, goal-oriented engagement in a fun and empowering way. Music therapy activities led by a board-certified music therapist provide children with opportunities to practice non-music-related skills in all developmental areas, including cognitive, motor, communication and language, social, behavioral, psychosocial, and emotional areas - regardless of musical skill or experience. Research-based music interventions are designed and implemented by music therapists to target individualized goals while simultaneously providing opportunities to practice leadership skills, foster independence, improve relationships, and allowing for freedom of expression in individual and group settings. Music is relatable, in some way, to all people regardless of age or ability and is a part of every culture; therefore, engaging in music therapy through singing, moving, listening, and/or playing instruments is an accessible and adaptable medium through which girls can become empowered. My Guest today is Eric Ervast. Eric is a board certified music therapist and he received his bachelor's and master's degrees in music therapy from Florida State University. He completed his internship at University of Kentucky HealthCare and has a background in primarily medical and pediatric music therapy with a variety of additional clinical experience. Prior to joining the Tampa Bay Institute for Music Therapy in May of 2017, he provided music therapy services to patients at Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare and to individuals and groups in the Tallahassee Community. Eric has a passion for working with infants and children in a variety of settings, and is an active member of the American Music Therapy Association.
