544. We chat with David Ervin, creator of the drive-thru daiquiri stand. "The humble history of the drive-thru daiquiri dates back to 1981, when David Ervin first opened the Daiquiri Factory in Lafayette, Lousiana. Ervin got the idea from a liquor store he frequented during his college days, which had a frozen drink stand on the side. He saw that model's success and thought he could take it a step further by replicating just the frozen drinks part of the equation. He wasn't sure about the legal status, though, and so he did some investigating to see if there was a precedent so he'd know if his business could withstand legal scrutiny. But Ervin couldn't find anyone else who'd tried, and he couldn't afford to pay someone to figure it out for him. As he put it in NOLA, 'It was the first business in the nation dedicated to specializing in frozen cocktails, drive-thru or otherwise'" (Mashed.com). This week in Louisiana history. October 13, 1931. After decades of abandonment, the neon lights are glowing at the Rusty Pick tavern as Chad's gang hosts a grand reopening celebration. As new faces drift through the crowd, outsiders have come in search of the "Treasure of Appalachia" and one group will stumble upon something far more valuable. Elsewhere Commander Johns and Charles Bishop still are hunting for Hugo Warren, their trail ending at Sugar Grove. With the help of an old ally, they uncover dark secrets that raise even more questions about Project Lazarus and the Appalachia Experiment. The Judge is on the move, about to fire the first shot that will mark the beginning of the Battle for Appalachia. The board is set, the pieces are in place. It all starts now. These episodes are in loving memory to long time Bethesda Game Studios developer Ferret Baudoin, who recorded his lines prior to his untimely passing. His family has graciously allowed us to use them posthumously and it is fitting that in these episodes he will save the day, one last time. It's time to, um, arrange some war in this week's episode Arrangements For War! Following on from the events of Project Lazarus, how has the Doctor and Evelyn's relationship been altered? Can there ever be an understanding between these two deeply wounded characters again? It's time to see what happens before the dog-monsters invade and how it affects the characters we've come to love.

Scientists are now learning how to "re-wild" our ecosystems. Ecosystems are now being re-wilded and it is being referred to as "Project Lazarus." We re-wild ecosystems by "re-homing" the native, undomesticated, displaced inhabitants. Many of our ecosystems that were in a massive state of decline are now experiencing what scientists are calling a "revival." A revival is coming to the ecosystems by way of re-homing the undomesticated original inhabitants back to where they were designed to be. Whenever we attempt to domesticate things that God intended to be wild, we begin to have a negative impact on the culture around us.

Hey All, I’d like to write a very special thank you to everyone who came out for Halloween New Orleans this year. It was truly one of the most amazing nights of my DJ career to date and Saturday night’s “Fall of the Pharaohs” event was definitely one for the record books. I felt like Daft Punk spinning in that pyramid. I don’t always post my sets, but this one I did indeed record. I hope you enjoy re-living the memories from the night… throw it on at the gym and hopefully the gold body paint will practically re-emerge in your sweat. While mine was a warm-up set, Joe Gauthreaux’s set the second half of the night was probably 3 of the best hours of dance music that I’ve ever heard. I can’t thank the incomparably talented Joe and Stephen Massey (DJ Grind) enough for their amazing camaraderie this year! And thank you also to everyone who helped make HNO XXXII so special this year! Dustin & Jeff, Ryan W., Ryan C. Neil, Brent, Joe & Stephen and everyone else involved in volunteering for this one-of-a-kind weekend to benefit Project Lazarus. I was honored to be a part of it two years in a row. New Orleans has truly become like a second home to me over the past several years, and I look forward to many return trips in the very near future! As an extra “thank you,” here also is the tracklist to my set (in case you’d like to seek out the remixes). I lead the night off with a track in tribute to last year’s HNO Saturday night DJ, my friend Tristan Jaxx. Several of my remixes and edits are available on my hearthis.at account - https://hearthis.at/djblacklow/ (In case you haven’t heard, Soundcloud is done.
