Was erwartet euch? Also: Conversion-Rate optimieren, Gin Tonic kaltstellen – und ab ins auditivste A/B-Testing der Podcastwelt!

Aerotude: The Story Behind the Whisky Origins of Aerotude Aerotude was born in the skies, inspired by its founder, David Dobson, a pilot who combined his love for whisky with the flavors of his global travels. His vision was to break whisky stereotypes, creating a drink that is easy to enjoy and versatile for a wider audience. The name "Aerotude"is derived from the words Aeroplane and Attitude. In aviation, attitude refers to the orientation of an aircraft in relation to the horizon, but it also reflects a person's way of thinking—making it a clever play on words. Aerotude is crafted for the rule breakers, those who dare to challenge the norm. The Launch Range The Aerotude launch range offers a Taste of Cape Town, featuring four unique variants: - Beachside Days - Ruby Spice - Fynbosity - The Original Flyer Additionally, Aerotude has introduced "Karoo Kiss", a 100% Karoo Agave spirit. Spotlight on Beachside Days Currently the bestselling whisky spirit aperitif, "Beachside Days" is known for its smooth and refreshing profile. It is infused with "Naartjie, Pineapple, and Ginger", making it the "Ladies' Choice". This variant pairs well with tonic (similar to a Gin & Tonic) or lemonade, though many also enjoy it neat due to its smoothness. How to Enjoy Beachside Days Aerotude embraces the philosophy: "Shake It, Mix It, Share It – Whisky Your Way!" Beachside Days can be enjoyed neat, on the rocks, or mixed with tonic or lemonade for a refreshing twist. Crafting Aerotude Aerotude's range is made using a "3-Year Single Grain Whisky", meaning the whisky comes from a single distillery. The maturation process involves finishing the whisky in "American Medium Toast Oak Casks". For "The Original Flyer", the whisky undergoes an additional finishing process in "French Oak, Cape Brandy, and Sherry Casks", enhancing its smoothness and flavor complexity. Behind the Scenes Aerotude is proudly produced in "Woodstock, Cape Town". The brand remains committed to authenticity, infusing its whisky with "only natural ingredients", ensuring no artificial flavors are used. Tom Colicchio is a gastronomic icon. He also likes his tomato sauce out of a jar. Colicchio, who is the head judge and an executive producer of acclaimed TV reality competition “Top Chef” and the owner of award-winning restaurant group Crafted Hospitality, is a partner in Colicchio Kitchen, a premium brand of sauces and condiments that are positioned as high-quality and convenient products for home chefs. Recently rebranded from The Jersey Tomato Company, Colicchio Kitchen debuted at the 2023 Summer Fancy Food Show held from June 25-27, and showcased a broad range of products, including its Colicchio Collection of ultra-premium cooking and pairing sauces. In this episode, Colicchio spoke about his involvement in the brand and his role in the development of its products, his perspective on adding an ethnic-themed line, how he defines “good food” and why he's less intimidating than you might think. From tomato sauce in jars to cocktails in cans, this episode also highlights a remarkable partnership between upstart beverage company Social Hour and iconic spirit brand George Dickel. Launched in 2020, Social Hour markets premium RTD craft cocktails made with high-quality ingredients, including a Gin & Tonic, Whiskey Mule and Yuzu Sunset Fizz. In 2021, Social Hour aligned with legacy whiskey brand George Dickel to launch its seasonally-inspired Harvest Whiskey Sour, an expression made with Dickel's 13-year-old Tennessee whiskey and re-released the following year. The companies teamed up once again in 2023 to create the summer-themed Social Hour Bourbon Smash made with Dickel Bourbon, which was introduced in late June. Social Hour co-founder Tom Macy and Nicole Austin, the general manager and distiller of George Dickel whiskey spoke about the origins of the partnership, how the collaboration aligned the aims of both brands and how the relationship may develop down the line. Show notes: 0:48: Interview: Tom Colicchio, Partner, Colicchio Kitchen – Colicchio met with Taste Radio editor Ray Latif in New York City and spoke about his experience at the 2023 Summer Fancy Food, why growing up in New Jersey had a significant impact on his initial decision to develop a consumer brand and the companies expansion into condiments. He also discussed his evaluation of flavor and functional ingredients when it comes to great tasting food and Italian cuisine is the primary focus for Colicchio Kitchen. 14:04 Interview: Tom Macy, Co-Founder, Social Hour & Nicole Austin, General Manager/Distiller, George Dickel — Macy recalled his experience in BevNET Cocktail Showdown 2 competition and discussed how he has navigated an increasingly crowded RTD cocktail category. Austin spoke about her interest in creating a canned cocktail and why she jumped at the opportunity to work with Social Hour, how she and Macy attempted to reduce the red tape when creating the partnership between the two companies, why they chose to develop a Bourbon Smash and why they're not looking too far down the line for the next product. Visit North Dakota this summer, and plan to catch the Chancy Williams Concert and the 144th Mandan Rodeo Days in North Dakota over the Fourth of July! NEWS Columbia - This was the biggest story last weekend, one that touched all heartstrings. Four children were found last weekend alive in a jungle in Columbia. The siblings had been missing for 40 days following a plane crash that took the life of their mother and pilots. The children were ages 13, 9, 4, and 11 months. They were able to stay alive thanks to the 13-year-olds knowledge of survivor skills. Small footprints were discovered at the crash site leading search teams to believe the children were still alive in the rainforest, which is home to jaguars, snakes, and other predators. The knowledge of fruits and jungle survival skills kept the siblings alive. Florida - Officials are warning people not to walk dogs near bodies of water, especially as it is alligator mating season. Recently a Florida man saved his dog from an alligator attack. The man was walking the dog along a river bank when an alligator came out of the water and snatched it. The man jumped on top of the alligator and freed his dog. This event spurred the Florida Wildlife Officials again to remind all walking near bodies of water to be on alert and definitely avoid if with pets. Illinois - a 9-year-old Wyoming, Illinois girl has gone viral for catching a Largemouth Bass with a McDonald's Chicken McNugget. The bass weighed 5 lbs. The girl stuck her McNugget on her hook before tossing her lure into a body of water. She reeled the bass in by herself… And this isn't the first time she's been adventurous with her choices of bait. She's had success too with crackers & gummy worms…. LOL… BEC says, HEY - WHATEVER WORKS, and WHATEVER gets kids outside!! FBI WARNING - These things noone is a fan of reporting on however, it is vital that we are all aware and up to date on the latest technology, especially when it could be a potential threat. The FBI is warning people to be careful when posting selfies online. Scammers and hackers are stealing the photos and then using artificial intelligence (AI) and deepfake technology to extort people. This is BAD stuff. The scam artists are placing people's faces on other people's naked bodies in which they then threaten to send pictures or videos to the victim's friends, family, and co-workers. The FBI says the scammers ask for money to not send the fake, X-rated material. THIS is a topic to discuss with your family too as our youth are becoming younger and younger having full access to various social media as well as with the elderly. One tip that BEC can offer is that before sharing photos on social media, like Facebook or Instagram, Snapchat, BeReal, etc... Take the time now to check your privacy settings, so that you are ONLY sharing information with people you want to be and to keep a close eye on your social media Friends Lists, that there have not been “Ghost accounts” created mirroring someone else which was added to your crew when they should not have been COOKING, FISHING & WILDLIFE QUESTIONS Tigger has reviewed the vast number of questions received from listeners and fans of The Bend Show. He reaches out to the experts, and past guests on The Bend Show, to get the answers. Meet our experts and past guests. BEC is a huge pickle fan, and where she is from - You love Ranch Dressing and DILL PICKLES of all varieties! The newest Pickle trend is the answer to your need for an easy recipe or easy appetizer. Dip mini or petite dill pickles into warm, melted chocolate and then set on wax paper to harden. If using Kosher pickles, dip them into the warmed chocolate and then roll the pickles in sea salt and let harden. As mentioned, if you know BEC she will be surprising all of her family and friends this summer with this easy Fourth of July appetizer recipe! If you have a fondue pot, consider this as a fun activity too for the kids. So many possibilities with these Pickle Recipes. Drinking Alcohol and Mosquitos. Another trend across social media has been debunked, drinking Gin & Tonic - we are sorry to report will not WARD OFF mosquitos! BEC & Tigger have heard of many reasons to have a cocktail or two, but not this one until I was approached and then had to investigate. It turns out that drinking alcohol actually makes you slightly more attractive to those biting skeeters, mosquitos. It is advised the best thing one can do is buy a true repellent. Personally, after trying many things; Tigger & BEC have weighed the pros and cons of tick-related diseases such as Lyme disease, one that is often overlooked by the medical world, and now stockpile their household with insect repellents that contain DEET. We know that some of you listening will not agree, and that is OKAY it has just been our family's decision to go after a Deep Woods product that contains preferably 40% Deet. Regardless, this year be sure to NOT be drinking that Gin & Tonic in hopes of warding off the mosquitos, and do plan ahead with some sort of bug repellent! Bussi, Baywatch & Baba. You may have heard me talking lately about how I've been enjoying an evening cocktail comprised of ketones instead of alcohol. This drink is a shockingly close equivalent to both the taste and effect of popular drinks like Gin & Tonic, Moscow Mule, Pina Colada, etc., but without any toxic side effects of alcohol (while I have no problem with a glass or two of organic, biodynamic red wine or a healthy cocktail here and there, it's been really nice to have a tasty alternative). The company that makes the drinks I've been consuming - KetoneAid - was founded by my guest on today's podcast, Mr. Frank LLosa, a serial entrepreneur who has an incredible track record of success in a number of fields from real estate, to highly technical photography for National Geographic, to one of the first cloud-based storage systems available to the public. Also formerly an elite Division I track athlete, Frank currently incorporates biohacking to stay competitive in all his endeavors, including a vegan ketogenic diet, hitting levels over 8.0mm on diet alone. In this lively chat with David T. Smith, spirits judge, consultant, and author of Gin Tonica, some of the topics we discuss include: A history of the Gin & Tonic cocktail, which turns out to be a bit more punk and DIY than it's often played up to be, as well as a bit more recent than we like to romanticize. The ways in which cultural differences in the US and the UK, like the widespread adoption of ice and the proximity to fresh citrus, worked to generate strikingly different conceptions of what we imagine as a “classic” gin & tonic. Then, of course, we explore how a few chefs in the Basque region of Spain took this drink into the kitchen in the last 20 years and completely transformed the way the cocktail can look, feel, and taste. We also take a moment to zoom out - as we gin nerds like to do - and examine some of the current trends in the gin world, both here in the US, and elsewhere in the world, such as the strategic deployment of local botanicals and the targeted deployment of distillate base AS a botanical. Along the way, we answer pressing questions like: why does David know what blood plasma tastes like?, is that a lego piece in your mixing glass?, did you just let Chat GPT write your tasting notes for you?, and much, much more.
