Dr. Albert Wong is a leading clinician and educator in the field of somatics. From Dr. Wong's perspective, not all trauma is created equal, particularly complex trauma. It can be challenging to identify and address when the one who hurt you is the one you love. Although this predicament can be overwhelming, Dr. Wong provides a message of hope for individuals still in this hurting stage: people are not alone in this hurt, it doesn't last forever, and trauma does not have to define you.  Dr. Wong shares that most of his work derives from the spirit of deep embodied listening, valuing the body's wisdom, the notion of somatic experience, and tuning in to what is incomplete in the body. He is also committed to bringing together others in the psychological world so that the field is less fragmented. About Dr. Albert Wong: Dr. Albert Wong is the Director of the Trauma Certificate Program at Somatopia and the former Director of Somatic Psychology at John F. Kennedy University. A leading educator in somatics, he trains students in somatic psychology, healing trauma, and the mind-body connection through his online platform, Somatopia. On the 48th episode of the Activist Files, advocacy associate maya finoh speaks with Andrea Ritchie, an attorney, author, organizer, and co-founder of Interrupting Criminalization and In Our Names Network, who has been documenting, organizing, advocating, litigating, and agitating around policing and criminalization of Black cis/trans women and girls and trans and gender non-conforming people for the past three decades. maya and Andrea discuss what it's like being ahead of the curve on these concepts; why it's critical to center Black women, girls, and queer and trans people; the experience of working with survivors on abolitionist projects; and the impact of previous feminist organizations and formations on creating the Black feminist and abolitionist futures being actualized today. Andrea's newest book, No More Police: A Case for Abolition, which is co-authored with Mariame Kaba, will be released this summer. “A lot of being human is… pinballing around in this world, versus realizing that there's a deeper intention behind why we're here.” — Stephen Dinan   A little more wisdom is never a bad thing. And it might be easier to access than you think, if you're open-minded. My guest on the podcast this week is Stephen Dinan, a lifelong learner who now helps others on their quest for spiritual growth and awareness. Dinan founded The Shift Network, an online educational platform offering courses and events on topics including enlightened business practices, previous lives, and energy medicine. He's also a member of the Transformational Leadership Council, made up of like-minded leaders trying to improve the world. Dinan used to be a self-described “atheist scientist type,” until the sudden death of a close friend shook up his worldview. Grappling with questions that science had no answer for, he turned to spiritualism.  He explored ways to reach higher levels of consciousness, psychic abilities, and reincarnation. Having initially planned to be a doctor, he realized he was supposed to make a difference through business. Dinan believes that conscious capitalism — using business as a force for good — is the key to making positive change in the world. In this episode of Leading With Genuine Care, you'll hear Dinan's advice on how to lead a business that shuns short-term wins for long-term victories, encouraging employees to meet their spiritual needs, why we should think planet-first, and more. You'll also learn: The journey of our souls and how we choose our bodies What Dinan's eighth grade self would think of him today How a trip to India helped him access a higher level of consciousness — and what that's really like Why an Apollo astronaut created an institute to study spiritualist theories How the overview effect — seeing the whole Earth as one entity— changes your perspective How the COVID-19 pandemic proved that the world can work together Why more individuals are achieving their full potential today than ever before   Connect with Stephen Dinan Facebookfacebook.com/stephendinan    Twitter twitter.com/StephenDinan    LinkedIn linkedin.com/in/stephen-dinan-5a717b/    Website stephendinan.com/    Learn More From Stephen Dinan Take a course or attend an event with The Shift Network   Learn more here: theshiftnetwork.com/    Buy Stephen Dinan's books Sacred America, Sacred World and Radical Spirit   stephendinan.com/book-inner    Get Rob's Weekly Newsletter Never miss an inspiring conversation about compassionate, positive leadership on the Leading with Genuine Care podcast plus other great articles and insights. Evolutionary leader, thinker, and founder of The Shift Network Stephen Dinan joins Terry to explore how conspiracy thinking and new paradigm ideas are sometimes merging in a phenomenon some call “Conspirituality” — which he articulated, with clarity and courage, in a Medium essay some months ago titled, “Anatomy of Delusion: How Otherwise Conscious People Descended into the Darkness.” Although this episode was recorded a couple weeks before the recent rioting and insurrection at the U.S. capitol, it’s more relevant than ever now. Stephen and Terry consider the psycho-social implications of the self-delusion and self-radicalization that is taking place in our online, algorithm-driven “preference bubbles” and which conscious efforts might nurture sanity, coherence, and trust. They explore the social artistry of raising our voices of wholeness and humility to counterbalance extremism and also sensing when our listening, curiosity, and depth of presence is even more valuable than speaking up. Stephen Dinan is the founder and CEO of The Shift Network, which has served over 3 million people worldwide, with customers in 150 countries. It delivers virtual summits, courses, and trainings in spirituality, peace, holistic health, psychology, parenting, enlightened business, shamanism, indigenous wisdom, and sustainability. Stephen is a member of the Transformational Leadership Council and Evolutionary Leaders, he helped create the Esalen Institute’s Center for Theory & Research and he led a number of noteworthy programs for the Institute of Noetic Sciences. Stephen has been a featured speaker at the World Cultural Forum in China, the Alliance for a New Humanity in Costa Rica, Renovemos Mexico in Mexico City, and the University of Cuenca in Ecuador, as well as many US events and summits. He is the author of Sacred America, Sacred World: Fulfilling Our Mission in Service to All and Radical Spirit.  Here are some additional questions Stephen and Terry explore:  How does “new paradigm thinking” in the consciousness movement sometimes lead to a countercultural distrust of mainstream information and an embrace of false narratives? In which ways might we enable people to have positive defenses from false truths and disastrous narratives while remaining open to emergent possibilities? How do our online echo chambers become self-radicalizing and contribute to collective manic episodes on a social level? Can voices of wholeness and humility grow “louder” to counterbalance the totalizing and radicalizing forces in our media ecosystem? How can our depth of presence and curiosity add a valuable buffer against toxic and totalizing narratives? When is listening even more valuable than saying something?
