Episode Overview:In this episode, I have the absolute pleasure of sitting down with Hebe Dickins, a somatic therapist, energy psychologist, and yoga and meditation teacher. Hebe's journey started in the world of acting, but her deep curiosity about the mind-body connection led her into the fields of trauma healing, energy psychology, and somatic therapy. We dive deep into what trauma really is, how it can show up in our lives (often without us realizing it), and the power of the body in processing and healing emotional wounds. Whether you've explored somatic work before or are just hearing about it for the first time, this episode will give you a fresh perspective on the ways trauma can manifest and how we can reconnect with ourselves through the body. What We Discuss:What trauma really is and how it affects the nervous systemThe difference between “talk therapy” and somatic therapyWhy so many people feel “stuck” and how trauma can be at the root of itThe body's role in storing and processing traumaHow trauma can impact relationships, intimacy, and self-worthWays to tell if you're embodied or disconnected from your bodyPractical steps to start reconnecting with your body and emotionsThe importance of honoring our nervous system's capacity and not pushing beyond our limitsHow Hebe's own journey with trauma healing has shaped her work todayHow to Know if Trauma is Affecting YouHebe shares some key signs that you might be carrying unresolved trauma in your body:You feel stuck in life, unable to move forward despite wanting to.You experience chronic stress, fatigue, or a feeling of "shutting down".You tend to be in a constant state of hypervigilance or overthinking. You struggle with intimacy, emotional numbness, or disconnection from loved ones. You feel like you're always on autopilot, disconnected from your emotions or physical sensations. If any of these resonate with you, Hebe offers insight into gentle, body-based healing approaches that can help. How to Start Reconnecting with Your Body:Pay attention to your body signals. Start noticing when you feel tension, numbness, or ease.Engage in body-based practices. This could be as simple as stretching, yoga, dance, or breathwork.Ask yourself, "What's great about this that I'm not getting?" This question can shift your perspective when facing challenges.Slow down and practice self-compassion. Your body is always working for you—listen to what it's trying to say.Resources & How to Connect with Hebe:Hebe's Website: AliveUK.co.ukFinal Thoughts:This conversation with Hebe was rich, insightful, and deeply grounding. If you've ever felt disconnected from your body, struggled with unprocessed emotions, or wanted a deeper understanding of trauma and healing, this episode is for you.I hope you take something valuable from it and, most importantly, give yourself the grace to explore your own journey at your own pace. A few moments after birth we begin to use our lungs for the first time. From then on, we must continue breathing for as long as we are alive. And although this mostly happens unconsciously, in a society plagued by anxiety, climate change, environmental racism, and illness, there are more and more instances that “teach us about the privilege that is breathing.” Why do we so easily forget the air that we breathe in common? What does it mean to breathe when the environment that sustains life now threatens it? And how can life continue to flourish under conditions that are increasingly toxic? To approach these questions, Jamieson Webster draws on psychoanalytic theory and reflects on her own experiences as an asthmatic teenager, a deep-sea diver, a palliative psychologist during COVID, a psychoanalyst attentive to the somatic, and a new mother. The result is a compassionate and timely exploration of air and breathing as a way to undo the pervasive myth of the individual by considering our dependence on invisible systems, on one another, and the way we have violently neglected this important aspect of life. Jamieson Webster is a psychoanalyst in private practice in New York City and faculty at The New School for Social Research. This week on From Mrs. to Ms., we're joined by the remarkable Dr. Nadine Macaluso, aka Dr. Nae—a licensed marriage and family therapist, trauma expert, and author of Run Like Hell: A Therapist's Guide to Recognizing, Escaping, and Healing from Trauma Bonds. As a 22-year-old, Nadine was swept up in a fairy tale romance with Jordan Belfort, the infamous "Wolf of Wall Street," played by Leonardo DiCaprio in the hit movie. Their eight-year marriage started with extravagant gifts, romantic dinners, and lavish parties, but soon turned into a nightmare filled with infidelity, narcissistic abuse, and uncontrollable addiction. Nadine, like so many others in toxic relationships, remained trauma-bonded—believing her love could save him—until the pain became unbearable. At 30, Nadine made the courageous decision to leave Jordan, pack up her children, and start over in Los Angeles. Through intensive therapy and deep self-reflection, she not only healed but discovered her passion for helping others break free from similar cycles of abuse. By 39, she returned to school and later earned her PhD in Counseling and Somatic Psychology, becoming an industry expert in narcissistic abuse, trauma bonds, and complex PTSD. In this powerful conversation, Dr. Nae shares her personal journey from a trauma-bonded marriage to finding healing, purpose, and ultimately, love again. She breaks down what trauma bonds are, why they're so hard to escape, and the steps you can take to reclaim your authentic self. Whether you're navigating a difficult relationship or simply curious about the psychology of toxic dynamics, this episode is filled with valuable insights and hope. Don't miss this heartfelt discussion with a woman who turned her pain into power and is now helping countless others do the same. In this episode, we explore these instinctive behaviors and their impact on emotional regulation, decision-making, and relationships. The four trauma responses most commonly recognized are: Fight – when we believe that if we are able to maintain power over the threat, we will gain control. This can look like physical fights, yelling, physical aggression, throwing things, and property destruction. It can also look like balling your hands into fists, feeling a knot in your stomach, crying, being argumentative, or experiencing a tight jaw.Flight – when we believe that if we are able to escape the threat and avoid conflict, then we will not be harmed. This can look like running away and avoiding interactions with others," notes Moronu. To avoid uncomfortable feelings, you may escape the situation by staying busy or fleeing for the exit whenever things get tough. Freeze – it might look like being at a loss for words, retreating into your mind, having a hard time breaking out and being present, sleeping, dissociating/spacing out, and going emotionally or physically numb.”Fawn – people-pleasing and engaging in pacifying behaviors. It's characterized by prioritizing people above all else by doing whatever they want to diffuse conflict and receive their approval. It seems good to be well liked and defer to others to secure safety, but not when it's at the cost of losing yourself. It can reach a point where you abandon yourself and your needs by merging so thoroughly with others.“Fight, Flight, Freeze, Fawn: Examining The 4 Trauma Responses” – Julie NguyenTamara SlaytonPeter LevinePersonal Geometry and Family Constellation Work The Big Leap by Gay HendricksSo Barbara Stanny Overcoming Under Earning Mikelann ValterraENCOURAGE US!: Donate $5 THE WIND BENEATH OUR WINGS. Krista's experience of watching and working with women giving birth to new life, feeling love and loss, and embracing the highs and lows of the transition into motherhood, she has identified that these these rights of passage that happen in women are powerful and deserve acknowledgment. Birth is so much more than the physical act of birth - a powerful emotional and spiritual shift takes place and when a child is born, so is a mother. Krista is honored to walk with women through these shifts and has been moved to encourage her patients to embrace them openly and fully. These transformational experiences have opened her eyes to the importance of conscious health care and postpartum wellness. Teaching women to find guidance through informed choice, community, and within themselves has become her mission. She believes that when women are educated and empowered, our wellness can be an intuitive art. Krista loves making herbal infusions, spending time in nature, being in the ocean, traveling, meditating and teaching women about connecting to our natural cycles and traditional postpartum healing modalities. She holds a Master's in Somatic Psychology and is a Certified Hakomi Therapist, with extensive training in Somatic Experiencing and Biodynamic Cranio-Sacral Therapy. A solo mama, death doula, sex therapist, and lifelong learner, Dev is passionate about guiding couples and individuals in deepening their relationships. As the founder of HoneyRoot, she leads a somatic education organisation dedicated to inclusive embodiment, social justice, and intergenerational community. At her core, Dev is a dancer, bridger, and ceremonialist. She is also a certified Soul Motion™ teacher, bringing her unique blend of movement and mindfulness to every space she inhabits, often alongside her child. Our conversation explores the journey of becoming trauma-informed and the intersection of trauma-informed facilitation and somatic psychology. Dev Bry shares how being trauma-informed aligns with her somatic training and how it has become a crucial part of her work. We discuss the importance of positive regard and creating a safe space for individuals to explore and heal. Dev also talks about their organisation, Honeyroot, and how it provides a practice ground for building a coherent sense of self and empowering individuals. The conversation highlights the transformation and relaxation that participants experience in these spaces. As well as the empowerment that comes from knowing how to navigate moments of tension and complexity. It emphasizes the importance of embracing both reverence and irreverence within oneself and in relationships. The discussion highlights the value of acceptance, choice, and bringing consciousness to relating and showing up in the world. The ability to listen to the body's sensations and use mindfulness to inform actions is seen as a powerful tool. The conversation also touches on the balance between awareness and embodiment, and the need for trauma-informed facilitators to be aware of language and context. The importance of relaxation, presence, and the ability to do nothing in facilitation is emphasized. We end the conversation with a reflection on the significance of being at ease with change and uncertainty, and the potential for greater connection and less reactivity in navigating challenging times. Happy Satiated Saturday! ALL of your food behaviors are a reflection of your nervous system state. This is why eating is a somatic practice. Every time you're in relationship with food, it will reveal if your body is feeling safe or threatened by your food cravings, hunger and satiation cues, pace of eating, and digestion. Your food impulses are body communication and what we will continue to explore together is what your body is trying to tell you.In this week's Satiated Podcast episode, I talk about: what your nervous system consists of your food impulses in each nervous system state what foods will turn on or off different states why eating is a somatic practiceYou can also read the transcript to this week's episode here: https://www.stephaniemara.com/blog/how-exactly-is-your-nervous-system-connected-to-your-food-behaviorsI'm taking the next month off from putting out new podcast episodes. Happy Satiated Saturday! I wish financial literacy was taught in schools earlier on in life. I've had so many conversations with others about the deep shame and personal judgment that can arise when you feel unclear about how to navigate your money life. And how does this connect with food?Well, often how we interact with one area of our life is how we respond to all other areas. Have you ever noticed that when you want to eat everything you also want to spend your money on things you potentially don't need? Have you ever noticed that when you're restricting your food intake you're worrying about not having enough money? Both food and money are a reflection of what's going on inside your body. Just as I talk about eating is a somatic practice, you can approach your relationship with money in a similar somatic way.In this week's Satiated Podcast episode, I talk with Bari Tessler, M.A. in Somatic Psychology, Financial Therapist and Author, about body check-ins when making financial decisions, money dates, emotional awareness in managing money, the connection between Enneagram types and money habits, and practical steps to start your journey toward a healthier relationship with money. As a young model living in New York City, Nadine Macaluso was “in” with the glamorous crowd of the 80's and 90's supermodel era, including the likes of Cindy Crawford and Naomi Campbell. It was during this time that she was swept off her feet and charmed by a powerful man who seemed to be able to give her everything…She married Jordan Belfort — a.k.a. The Wolf of Wall Street — taking her on a journey through hell and back, including abuse, a capsized yacht, and a fraud so big they'd made a blockbuster movie about it. In today's episode, she describes how with the lavish high life came frightening lows…recounting the exact moment she knew that she needed to free herself from her marriage. Now with her own practice, Dr. Nadine has found purpose in helping others escape abusive relationships. Tune in for a wild ride and some tips for identifying red flags, the telltale signs of a narcissist, and how to know if you're in a trauma bond (and when to get out).************Make sure to follow Jamie @NYCfitfam on Instagram for news & updates, and visit our companion Instagram account @gratitudeology for a sneak peek into the personal moments discussed on the show.************Thank you to Dr. Nadine Macaluso for sharing your truth with us today. But once they were bonded, Jordan's ‘mask' began to slip and acts of infidelity, narcissistic abuse, insatiable greed, and uncontrollable drug addiction became Nadine's living nightmare. Nadine naively believed that their connection was real, and that her love could save him, so she remained trauma-bonded until the pain of their relationship became too much to bear. It would be decades before she realized her story resembled thousands of other women's relational experiences. At 30, Nadine packed up her kids and her curtains and left Jordan, relocating to Los Angeles, California. She began a transformative process of intensive therapy and deep self-reflection, which required facing her pain, admitting, and owning her mistakes, and reconnecting with the authentic self she'd lost due to Jordan's abuse. Through her own healing, a passion for helping others was born. She returned to school at 39 to become a psychotherapist, and ten years later, graduated with a PhD in Counseling and Somatic Psychology.Dr. Nae's private practice quickly flooded with women recounting an all-too-familiar story of abuse with a pathological partner. Her goal of helping people develop healthy relationships took on a life of its own as she realized that trauma bonds were increasingly prevalent and destroying the lives of hundreds of women. Nadine embarked on a twelve-year journey of learning about domestic violence. She combined her academic background with her experience and that of her patients', eventually leading her to become an industry expert in narcissistic abuse, trauma bonds, and complex PTSD.Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brands

The Somatic Leadership JourneyBio:Pavini Moray has started, failed, and succeeded in many businesses. A serial entrepreneur, they have built private practices, a worker collective, and a for-profit company. Pavini is a somatic leadership coach, specializing in helping relationships be easy. Moray holds an M.Ed in Montessori curriculum design, as well as a Ph.D. in Somatic Psychology. Pavini has authored, How to Hold Power: A Somatic Approach to Becoming a Leader People Love and Respect.Links: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/pavinicoakwellmoray/Website: https://www.pavinimoray.com/Episode Highlights:In this episode, Pavini delves into their experiences of cultural disconnect, sharing personal stories of their childhood and how counterculture and punk music provided a sense of belonging and freedom. They discuss the importance of somatic approaches in leadership and personal growth.Childhood Incidents:As a child, Pavini's mother decided that Pavini should have a cultural education of experiencing the arts. As a single mother, cultural education was a luxury she had to prioritize and save for. Contrastingly, Pavini's dad had season tickets and a box at the opera. One night, when mother and child were at the opera, they noticed the dad sitting in his box in the theatre which was Pavini's first awareness of wealth disparity. In January 1986, Pavini's friends invited them to a punk party. While there, Pavini felt the difference between the world they lived in and the current world they were experiencing then. This experience set Pavini on a journey to find spaces of belonging.Cultural Influences:Pavini's purpose comes from living a life informed by pleasure, embodiment, and communication, tempered with transparency and kindness. Leadership Influence:In 2008, Pavini attended an activist camp and experienced the power of transparency and power sharing along with strong organization. This shaped their foundational beliefs about leadership, elderhood and the importance of structure. To date, Pavini cannot stand being in a poorly organized meeting and strives to incorporate elderhood into leadership since it increases the capacity of an entire community.Temperaments and Personality:Pavini believes they came into this world as a dancer, with a sense of awe, magic and connection to nature and spirit. Curiosity is also part of Pavini's temperament. As a child, and later as an adult Pavini developed both a playful and pragmatic side to their personality. Cultural Epiphanies:Pavini lived in Bulgaria in the 90s and experienced the Bulgarians' sense of powerlessness and hopelessness as shocking. Pavini recalls a time they went to the mayor asking for transportation for books that had traveled 10,000 miles around the world, and now required transportation for the last 200 miles to get them to the destination. The mayor said it was impossible, but Pavini was able to show him how doable it was when he opened his mind to possibility. When Pavini was working with a worker collective, a sense of anger at late meetings arose frequently. One of the people they worked with told Pavini that the time intolerance and anger was white supremacy and not all people understand time the same way. What Brings out the Best in Pavini?Pavini enjoys working in environments where they can laugh and be playful. Soapbox Moment:Pavini encourages us to be attuned. They recognize how vulnerable it can be when we open ourselves to attune with someone else's needs, feelings, desires, fears, and grief. Trigger warning: Mental Health Welcome to Episode 118. Somatic psychology and archetypes with Dr Brian Tierney Imagine trying to do some inner work. You close your eyes and all you can see is greyscale. There are no other colours, just grey. You can sense that pain and suffering is there, but you have no words to recognise or express it. According to Dr Brian Tierney – this is the impact of toxic masculinity. We're not taught emotional intelligence; but we should be taught it so we can recognise our pain and express it in healthy ways. Dr Brian Tierney is a somatic psychologist in private practice and a professor of neuroscience and psychological assessment. He has been a facilitator of men's groups for many years, is a dancer, a trauma resolution expert, a drama therapist, a clown trainer, and a father of two. Brian sits down with me to discuss how somatic psychology and archetypes can be used to support men to recognise and release their trauma. It's a fascinating discussion that includes his work with men's groups; and the transformation men experience when they go deep with other men. Key points In the full episode Brian shares: The benefits of clown training How Somatic Psychology can help release trauma What archetypes are How our archetypes change over time Why social constructions of masculinity are toxic The transformations he sees in the men's groups he facilitates Key quotes "When we don't receive something, you can't really give it.” “The social construction of masculinity is toxic.” “You come to see a somatic psychologist and they are like a plumber." In today's episode, Embodied Philosophy Founder Jacob Kyle is interviewed by Kelly Blaser for the 2024 Power of Meditation Summit. They discussed the role of the scholar-practitioner, the philosophical significance of "zero," the important synergy of knowledge and experience, "reappropriating God," and the necessary role of spirituality in the lives of queer people. Jacob Kyle is a meditation teacher, writer, philosophy educator, and the Founding Director of Embodied Philosophy. He holds an MPhil in Classical Indian Religions from the University of Oxford, an MA in Philosophy from the New School for Social Research in New York City, and an MSc in Political Theory from the London School of Economics and Political Science. Jacob is a student of Kashmir Śaivism scholar-practitioner Paul Muller-Ortega and is a devoted practitioner of the Śaiva-Śākta Darśana. Kelly Blaser is the founder of DharmaBridge and SomaPsychotherapy, and is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist with an emphasis in Buddhism, Shaiva and Shakta Tantra, and Somatic Psychology. Her background in feminist movements and Latin American Studies and experience living in Central America opened her up to the extent that our inner struggles are reflective of systemic structures that promote domination and disassociation. Her work is to help others experience the infinite compassion beneath the chaos of life and to remind them of their true nature. Her programs and courses focus largely on the power of applying the dharma to one's relationship with oneself and others. She helps people train themselves in meditation, mindfulness practices, and compassionate self-inquiry, so they can gain freedom from conditioned mind and open up to possibility. Explore the many upcoming offerings and follow Kelly's work at www.kellyblaser.com. In this episode, Jacob and Kelly discuss: how the history of "zero" as a mathematical disruptive discovery reflects the way our contemplative sādhana both disrupts and inspires different forms of knowledge the importance of studying yoga philosophy as a way to empower embodied experience how scholarship should take seriously and employ experientially the embodied epistemologies of ancient wisdom traditions what it means to let your subjective experience inform your practice without rejecting the knowledge systems of the tradition the symbolism of Nataraja (the dancing Shiva) and how it represents the five universe functions of reality the dance of revelation and concealment according to the Tantrik tradition how organized religions have rejected gay and queer people, and how this necessitates a "re-appropriation" of God in queer-inclusive theologies and philosophies that are simultaneously informed by an understanding of wisdom traditions. As a 22-year-old, Nadine never could have understood what she was committing to when marrying Jordan Belfort, the fraudulent stockbroker infamously known as "The Wolf of Wall Street."Their eight-year marriage began as a fairytale, filled with romantic dinners, expensive gifts, and lavish parties. But once they were bonded, Jordan's ‘mask' began to slip, and acts of infidelity, narcissistic abuse, insatiable greed, and uncontrollable drug addiction became Nadine's living nightmare. Nadine naively believed that their connection was real and that her love could save him, so she remained trauma-bonded until the pain of their relationship became too much to bear. It would be decades before she realized her story resembled thousands of other women's relational experiences. At 30, Nadine packed up her kids and her curtains and left Jordan, relocating to Los Angeles, California. She began a transformative process of intensive therapy and deep self-reflection, which required facing her pain, admitting and owning her mistakes, and reconnecting with the authentic self she'd lost due to Jordan's abuse. Through her healing, a passion for helping others was born. She returned to school at 39 to become a psychotherapist and, ten years later, graduated with a PhD in Counseling and Somatic Psychology.Dr. She combined her academic background with her experience and that of her patients, eventually leading her to become an industry expert in narcissistic abuse, trauma bonds, and complex PTSD. “It's you…it's your special medicine that's helping the people. It's not so much about the tools that you learn or the knowledge that you gain.” Today I have Dr. Leah Taylor with me, who is a dear client of mine, and an amazing professional. She explains part of her journey like this: “From a very young age, I noticed a disconnect between my mind and body. I felt proud of my head, but when I looked down at the rest of my body, I didn't recognize it as my own. My journey home to myself started with live music. Blown apart by the percussive beats of Rusted Root, it was my first spiritual experience and the first time I fully felt alive and integrated in my whole body. I was so intrigued, I pursued a Master's in Somatic Psychology and a Ph.D. in Mind-Body Medicine to learn about how our bodies work in an integrative way and what an experience like live music means for our healing and wellness. Even though I pursued the professional path of a therapist, I always knew my work and my own healing was bigger than what could fit in a small session room. I knew it was the things I did every day, not once a week for 50 mins, that would make the biggest impact on my life.” This is when she decided to come into my world and realized she needed to clear old programming in order to move forward and properly value her work and abilities. Today's conversation is with Don Hanlon Johnson Don is no stranger to the embodied and somatic work, he's been involved in this field since long before many of us have been born. Now in his 90's he has been involved with so many of the pioneers and lineage holders of this field. A blurp written by Don about himself reads, “As I move into my twilight years, I am aware that the seeds that brought forth my current work were planted over half a century ago when I had my first post in teaching philosophy at what is now Loyola Marymount in Los Angeles while participating with Carl Rogers in his research project on the efficacy of student-centered learning in the school system of the Immaculate Heart sisters from kindergarten through their university. That intersection of Rogerian humanistic psychology with the experiential tradition of Socratic and Husserlian philosophy, my long history of meditation, and my first visits to the newly born Esalen Institute, gradually shaped a comprehensive approach to the education of therapists and healers, bringing together the cutting-edge theoretical, with relevant experiential dimensions, and the intellectual aspects of developing an embodied consciousness. After studying and practicing the work of Ida Rolf, I founded the first masters degree program in Somatic Psychology and succeeded in having it authorized by license-granting state boards. I was a professor in that program for some 30 years. I am now teaching in newly launched Somatics emphasis in the doctoral program of Integral and Transpersonal Psychologies. My website has more detailed information." This was really a dream come true for me. Don was one of the people I had in mind to talk with when I created this podcast. Further proof that with hard work and diligence, dreams can come true. And they can be even more rewarding than imagined. Todays talk ran the gamut of Rolfing history, phenomenology and other topics of which Don is an experienced and knowledgeable sage of. Instead of my usual forewords, let's just hop into this exciting and informative talk. The Essential Oil Revolution –– Aromatherapy, DIY, and Healthy Living w/ Samantha Lee Wright
Dr. Perkus is a Licensed Psychologist with over 25 years of clinical experience and has been guiding others in using essential oils for wellness support for over 20 years. He has extensive training in various therapeutic modalities including EMDR, NET, Polyvagal Theory, Somatic Psychology, Meditative Awareness, and Trauma Therapy. Dr. Perkus has succeeded in integrating the best of psychology, neuroscience, and aromatherapy by creating a unique process called the Aroma Freedom technique. It has been described as the fastest, gentlest, and easiest method to dissolve negative thoughts, feelings, and memories with essential oils. Dr. Perkus found the Aroma Freedom technique to be so successful that he left his private practice to teach and certify people in this method all around the world. There are currently over 800 certified practitioners in 39 states and 19 countries, and this movement is growing across the globe due to its universal effectiveness in so many areas of life. Dr. Perkus currently runs an online training academy for lay people and practitioners to learn how to use the Aroma Freedom technique with clients and with themselves. He is the author of two books, The Aroma Freedom Technique and The Aroma Reset Booklet . He currently lives in Florida and New York with his family. What You Will Learn: 1. How Dr. Perkus discovered that essential oils could release trauma and painful memories. This paved the way for the creation of the Aroma Freedom technique (AFT). 2. How the Aroma Freedom technique works: It incorporates feelings, thoughts, bodily sensations, and imagination while simultaneously smelling specific essential oils. This merger of psychology, neurology, and aromatherapy helps to release and rewire the memory/emotion complex through neuroplasticity and memory reconsolidation. 3. How the combination of different essential oils in the Aroma Freedom technique impacts various neurotransmitters all at once. This creates a powerful synergy influencing neurochemistry, psychology, and physiology. 4. How Aroma Freedom differs from traditional psychotherapy. It is a dual process of releasing old memories (deconsolidation) and creating new neural pathways (memory reconsolidation). It focuses on clearing blocks so one can live their life's goals vs. re-living and re-telling of one's trauma. 5. When to use the Aroma Freedom technique for self-care vs. when to seek a trained practitioner or additional help. 6. The connection between pain in the body and emotions. 7. How this technique is revolutionary in that it accomplishes emotional healing as it supports various aspects of life such as goal setting, stress reduction, relief from painful memories, and overall mood balance. 9. How to use the Aroma Reset technique, one of the six techniques that Dr. Perkus has invented. (Our DIY!) The Aroma Reset Technique: Picture a situation that is keeping you blocked. Name the feeling. Locate the feeling in body. Identify the negative thought that goes with feeling. Grab a relaxing oil and place a drop on palm, breathe the oil into situation, and notice what happens. Assess where you are now, it will be one of three scenarios: (a) You are good to go. (b) Something cleared but there is a residual feeling. In this case, do another round. (c) You opened up a bigger issue. This means you should do either a full session of AFT or seek out an AFT certified practitioner for support. 10. Closing Questions: What Dr. Perkus does for self-care and what he feels we should ditch and replace it with for better health.
