Remembering what is exciting to you about Spirituality and why you got interested in Spirituality in the first place. This week on the podcast Grace shares about the energy of the moment, how the end of summer/ back to school vibes will help you implement some structure and schedule to your life and spiritual practices. Grace talks about shifting into a schedule and some personal tools and organizational hacks she has been using to begin to support her personal organizational style and self sabotage tendencies. How this energy supports honestly looking at behaviors within yourself and getting your "paperwork" together. We talk about learning to shift your mindset around consistency, learning to enjoy the simplicity of small habits. How those habits can reflect a feeling to yourself, learning to trust yourself and seeing the value in following through. Asking yourself, when I follow through with my intended actions how does that make me feel in my body? Healing the shadow of flakiness and allowing for self forgiveness when it comes to actions or decisions you made in the past. What is spirituality? Grace talks about some of her personal belief systems as a medium. Creating a space for self exploration and questioning. Relationships and interactions, timelines, reflecting on your energetic imprint and influences. Beliefs around the afterlife, reincarnation, crossing over spirits, shamanic soul retrieval, past life healing, and more! The headmaster sighed and shut out the old memory. He leaned forward on his desk. “Edwards, your marks and behaviour this year have been poor enough to earn expulsion several times over.” Hamilton watched the boy's chin drop. He shook his head and sighed again.Back to School is a short story from the Tall And True writers’ website, written and narrated by Robert Fairhead. The podcast version of the story is presented in six instalments, one per chapter. In the handwritten draft, the working title for the story was A Second Chance. But when I typed it up on my old Amstrad PC, I changed the title to Another Chance. Like Charlie in the story, I left school when I was sixteen and worked for a while in the building trade. For many years in my early adulthood, I dreamed of being sixteen again and back at school, imagining different alternatives had I sat my final exams. One day in 1992, I decided to exorcise those dreams and give myself “another chance” by writing this short story. When I shared the story on Tall And True in 2017, I renamed it Back to School. By now, I was a father with a fifteen-year-old son about to enter his final years of high school. And around this time, my dreams of being back at school returned. Only now, I dreamed of being my middle-aged self, sitting in a classroom with my son, studying for our exams. And this prompted me to rename the short story, Back to School.I’ve been fascinated with exploring the cross over between dreams and reality for many years in my writing. Perhaps I was inspired by Franz Kafka. Or by the tale of the 3rd century BC Chinese philosopher Chuang Chou, who dreamed he was a butterfly. Afterwards, Chou was left confused. Was he was a man who had dreamed he was a butterfly or a butterfly dreaming he was a man?In Back to School, I leave it to you to decide if the sixteen-year-old Charlie dreamed of his future as an unemployed father or whether the adult Charlie dreamed of a past visit to his old headmaster’s office. Maybe there’s a third option, and the two Charlies exist in separate realities? Truthfully, I’m not sure of the answer— and I wrote the short story! Thanks for listening to the podcast. Hamilton leaned back, tapping the tips of his fingers together in contemplation. “An interesting dream, Edwards. What do you make of it?” Charlie shifted nervously from leg to leg. “Well, sir, I’ve been giving it a lot of thought since last night, and I think it was a premonition.” Back to School is a short story from the Tall And True writers’ website, written and narrated by Robert Fairhead. Initially titled A Second Chance, the story became Another Chance in subsequent drafts. And when I shared it on Tall And True in 2017, I renamed it again to Back to School. In Chapter Five, Charlie is sixteen again and still attempting to convince his headmaster, Heavy Handed Hamilton, that the dream of his adult self, and his house and family, and his being unemployed again was a premonition.“It was a warning of how my life will be if I don't finish high school and sit my exams next year.”Hamilton has school reports to sign and a pile of paperwork but indulges the boy. “If it was a premonition, as you say, Edwards, do you believe you can alter your future, your destiny?” Because the headmaster had a dream or premonition back in his army days. And acting on it saved the lives of his patrol and his own.Unlike Charlie and Hamilton, I don’t believe I’ve ever had a dream that’s come true, a premonition. But I’ve had vivid dreams and experienced déjà vu many times. Thanks for listening to this podcast. I hope you enjoyed Chapter Five of Back to School. And how he recognised “his family” in it, his wife and daughters and two sons, the oldest of whom is the same age as Charlie, sixteen. Charlie then goes on to describe his birthday party in the dream. And his realisation of why his sixteen-year-old son glares at him with loathing, because Charlie won’t let him leave school. And the source of the dread Charlie feels: he’s lost his job and is unemployed again. At his daughter’s urging, Charlie makes a wish when he cuts his birthday cake, something perhaps we’ve all wished once or twice in our adult lives: “I wish I’d known what I know now, as an unemployed husband and father. Back when I was the same age as my son. When I was still at school, and life wasn’t a bad dream.”Charlie opens his eyes after making the wish and finds he’s sixteen again. Charlie took another deep breath to calm himself. “Well, Mr Hamilton, it was the weirdest dream I've ever had. It was more like watching TV than a dream. And finally, when I shared the short story on Tall And True in 2017, I renamed it Back to School. I quit high school at the same age and in similar circumstances to Charlie. And for many years, I dreamed of being sixteen again and back at school. This short story was an attempt to exorcise those dreams. In Chapter Three, Charlie recounts to Heavy-Handed Hamilton the “weird” dream that prompted his visit to the headmaster’s office. The scene of Charlie driving a “beat-up old van loaded with tools, ladders and building equipment” is taken from my experience as an electrician in my early twenties. If I close my eyes, I can still hear them “crashing about in the back” of the van whenever I hit a pothole. As for Charlie’s dread in walking to the house, reading and listening to those lines now remind me of Franz Kafka’s The Castle: “The path to the front door seemed long. It felt like Charlie was heading in the wrong direction on a moving walkway. Or perhaps he didn't want to reach the house? Charlie sensed a looming dread but didn't know why.”I read Kafka’s books around this time. Perhaps I was trying to emulate his dreamlike sequences? And the confusion we sometimes feel between reality and dreams? Thanks for listening to this podcast. I hope you enjoyed Chapter Three of Back to School. This episode we’ll probe the Tenerife disaster on 27 March 1977 which remains the most deadly aviation accident in history. 583 people died when two Boeing 747s collided on the Canary Island of Tenerife - one operated by KLM and the other by Pan Am. This led to a major aviation safety initiative the known as Cockpit Resource Management or CRM which is now part of pilot training where combined crew input is encouraged and the captain can be questioned. It also led to other changes in communication methodology between planes waiting to take off and the tower as well as setting English as the language of aviation. The problem with CRM is that it comes up against different cultures in the world, where the decisions by the strong man in charge are generally not contradicted. This is thought to be behind the accident in Pakistan during Covid-19 lockdown in May 2020 where authorities say not only was CRM ignored by the senior pilot, he also apparently tried to land an Airbus at 240 knots – well over its recommended landing speed. Back to Tenerife 1977 – an incident which still shocks those who hear the details for the first time. There were no survivors from the KLM aircraft and only 61 of the 396 passengers and crew on the Pan Am aircraft survived. Pilot error was the primary cause, as the KLM captain began his take-off run without obtaining air traffic control clearance in extremely dense fog. But as you’ll hear, there is more to this story. The conversation between PanAm, KLM and the ATC was peppered with confusing messages. Other contributing factors were a terrorist incident at Gran Canaria Airport on a separate island that had caused many flights to be diverted to Los Rodeos, a small airport on the island of Tenerife not well equipped to handle aircraft of such size arriving together. This increased the stress on the Air Traffic Controller and mistakes were bound to be made. The Canary Islands are infamous among pilots for the extreme wind and weather conditions that spring up on this archipelago off the coast of Africa in the Atlantic Ocean. The weather was to play a major role in this catastrophe.

Who doesn't love Julia Donaldson? This is a curated selection of 9 books previously read by E3D on this podcast. At a time where children are told not to go to school, to stay home, and stay safe I wanted to create a series of extended episodes that could be listened to for a while to fill a gap in a day that now needs to be filled by lots of other little things in order to keep inquisitive minds active. The 9 stories in order1. Zog2. Tabby Mctatt3. The Highway Rat4. The Ugly Five5. The Singing Mermaid6. The Rhyming Rabbit7. Tiddler8. The Grufflalo's Child9. (Feb 7, 2020) I remember friends who only read what was required, and nothing more. They weren’t interested in reading for fun. Textbooks aren’t my thing. Assigned reading was more my speed, and free reading was most certainly my favorite part of English classes growing up. That’s why I wanted to dig deeper and find out what other people enjoyed in their middle/high school years.

Summary98 Max talks about pilot communications. Some pilots repeat everything to ATC. This is better than not repeating key items, as ATC will have to say it again and ask you to read it back. The problem is there’s limited bandwidth, and only one person can talk at a time. On quiet frequencies this isn’t a problem. But in time critical situations, ATC can’t talk until you stop talking. How do you show up as a better leader, and how do you do it in a world that’s constantly distracting us?   Technology has changed our lives in profoundly positive ways, but it’s also created more distrations than ever before – and if you’re like most people, you probably feel more disconnected than ever before.   So we sat down with the author of Back to Human: How Great Leaders Create Connection in the Age of Isolation, Dan Schawbel, to discuss how we can do a better job at facilitating connections in the workplace, in spite of the technology that’s constantly surrounding us.   We recorded this conversation as part of our monthly ONE Thing webinar series. Every month, we feature an incredible author so that you can learn directly from them and ask questions. If you want to sign up for our next FREE monthly webinar, head over to the1thing.com/webinars.     In this episode, you will learn... [6:25] What’s at stake if we keep using technology the way we are now. [11:30] What it looks like to start developing trust between the people you lead. [16:15] How do you help people get clear on the team’s purpose and what fulfills people on an individual level? [24:00] How you can create connection (and the ONE thing that makes it easier or unnecessary)   The ONE Thing to Implement From This Episode:   What is the ONE thing you can do, such that by doing it, everything else will be easier or unnecessary when it comes to making connections with people?   Dan says the most important skill is being able to work with other people. As a leader, as a manager, as a human, this will always be important. So what’s ONE thing you can do to improve your ability to work with others?   Links & Tools From This Episode Learn more at https://danschawbel.com/ Read: Back to Human: How Great Leaders Create Connection in the Age of Isolation Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/danschawbel/   AWESOME FREE RESOURCES FOR YOU! In the 8th episode of Aider & Abettor, Sajid and Avi discuss the first trial of Bill Cosby in the "Opening Statement" segment. They talk about the judge’s rulings in the case, the hung jury and what, if anything, the result means for our community. In a new segment called “Read Back,” they revisit a topic from Episode 4: the arrest and prosecution of Lauren Kirk-Coehlo for the vandalism of a mosque in Davis, California. They dive into the layers of her recent sentence of probation and jail time and discuss the Muslim community’s reaction to the outcome. Some of Sajid’s thoughts on the sentence in written form are here: http://thesajidakhan.tumblr.com/post/161940665954/debriefing-and-defending-the-sentence-of-lauren In the "Deep Dive" segment, Sajid and Avi reflect on the death of Philando Castile and the trial of officer Jeronimo Yanez. They break down the tragic incident and the acquittal of Mr. Yanez, including how Supreme Court cases permitted the initial car stop, the dashcam video of the officer shooting Mr. Castile, how the jury might have received the evidence in reaching their decision and what the not guilty verdict means and doesn’t mean. Sajid tried to flesh out some of his thoughts on the tragedy here: http://thesajidakhan.tumblr.com/post/162039596474/on-the-death-of-philando-castile-the-trial-of Sajid and Avi finish up with their "Thing(s)." I responded to what is arguably the most desperate argument defending that the Greek noun apostasia in 2 Thessalonians 2:3 refers to the rapture. Those who argue for this, claim that because some early sixteenth English translations use the English term “departure” (e.g. Coverdale, Tyndale, Geneva Bible) that means the translators thought that the Greek […] Related Posts: What Andy Woods Is Not Telling You about 'the… The Greek GRAMMAR in 2 Thessalonians 2:3 Supports… Use THIS Effective Strategy on Your Pretrib Friends… The post Do NOT Read Back 16th Century English Translations into Apostasia in 2 Thessalonians 2:3 to Mean a Physical Departure! – Ep. 87 appeared first on ESCHATOS MINISTRIES.

Do you know what you are required to read back when ATC issues a clearance to you? Apparently a lot of pilots–including high-time pros–don’t know what they are required to read back. A contact of mine at Chicago Approach Control said he is pulling his hair out because many pilots do not read back his […]
