Rætt er við Lennart Keizer flugmann á Boeing 737 hjá KLM, en hann byrjaði sinn flugmannsferil hjá Icelandair árið 2017 þegar Icelandair réð nokkurn hóp erlendra flugmanna til starfa hjá félaginu. Lennart flutti aftur til heimalandsins í fyrra þegar honum bauðst vinna hjá KLM og er í dag með heimahöfn á Schiphol í Amsterdam, þar sem viðtalið var tekið upp. Lennart lærði flugvirkjun og verkfræði og vann ýmist störf tengd fluginu áður en hann lét af því verða að læra til atvinnuflugmanns. Hann var kominn á fertugsaldur þegar honum bauðst flugmannsstaða hjá Icelandair á Boeing 757 fyrir um 7 árum síðan. Hollendingurinn segir hér frá upplifuninni að koma til Íslands til að vinna sem flugmaður. Spjallað er um muninn á flugrekstri KLM og Icelandair, kosti og galla og af hverju Lennart valdi að snúa aftur heim til Hollands á þessum tímapunkti á ferlinum. KLM krijgt eind 2026 haar eerste Airbus A350. Wij vlogen vast een rondje in de gloednieuwe simulator op Schiphol. Daarnaast haalde Transavia het nieuws: wat is er met die saucijzenbroodjes? En waarom wil Schiphol in vredesnaam investeren in grensluchthavens? Dat en meer in de Luchtvaartnieuws Podcast. Schiphol steekt 10 miljard in de renovatie en uitbreiding van de terminal. Broodnodig, maar ook kostbaar. Airlines vrezen de rekening. Daarnaast zijn er vragen over het voornemen om 100 miljoen te steken in grensluchthavens. Waarom? Waar in Nederland zonder gêne over ‘krimp' wordt gesproken, krijgt Heathrow er definitief een derde startbaan bij. Daardoor komt het aantal vliegbewegingen op meer dan 700.000 te liggen. Most people are either rehashing the past or obsessing over the future - never living in the present moment. The result? Walking around with major incompletions that keep us from connection, creativity, and wholeness. Carrying unfinished conversations, unspoken words, unresolved feelings, and unfelt experiences. And that robs us of something precious…all the incredible things we could be creating right now! Completion isn't about perfection or checking every box. It's the deep, often uncomfortable practice of letting go of past regrets, imagined futures, buried emotions, and the need to control what can't be controlled. When we learn how to complete and release, we create space for what's trying to emerge right now, and that's where the richest experience can be found. Er worden miljarden verdiend, veel meer dan waarop analisten rekenden. Microsoft wordt beloond door beleggers. Het bedrijf werd meer dan 4000 miljard dollar waard. Iets dat alleen Nvidia is gelukt. Meta doet het ook beter dan verwacht. Daar valt vooral op dat beleggers de topman van Instagram en Facebook veel vergeven. Zoals een onderdeel dat tot nu toe al 70 miljard dollar heeft verloren...Verder ook aandacht aan de cijfers van AEX-bedrijven: ING, dat ziet dat klanten onzeker worden. Maar ook zelf onzeker is over de handelsdeal die Europa en de VS hebben gesloten. DSM Firmenich komt ook voorbij. Lijkt niet spannend, maar is het wel. Het is dicht bij de verkoop van een onderdeel dat ze bijna 3 miljard euro oplevert. Al is het wel het onderdeel dat het het best doet. Shell verwent al 15 (!) kwartalen op rij. Het geeft minstens 3 miljard dollar uit aan de aankoop van eigen aandelen. We kijken hoe lang het bedrijf dat nog volhoudt. Unilever is somber over de komende maanden en tóch verhoogt het de winstmarge. Ook belooft het dat de ijsjestak in november naar de beurs gaat. Air France-KLM is een hoogvlieger. Contributor: Taylor Lynch, MD Educational Pearls: The KLM Flight Disaster, also known as the Tenerife Airport Disaster, occurred on 27 March 1977. It involved the collision of two Boeing 747 passenger jets from KLM and Pan Am Airlines, resulting in 583 fatalities.  What fell through the cracks to cause this incident? The captain of the KLM flight believed he had received clearance from air traffic control to take off, when in fact he had not. This captain was one of the most senior pilots in the organization, and the culture often saw senior pilots as infallible and not to be questioned. The co-pilot, who noticed improper communication resulting from power dynamics, did not assertively speak up.  What lessons can be taken from the tragedy and applied to healthcare?  Aviation and healthcare are both high-stakes industries that require extensive communication for the safety of passengers and patients. Within medicine, an inherent hierarchy exists, and it is crucial not to let this hierarchy and perceived power imbalance prevent people from speaking up. In healthcare, providers such as nurses, paramedics, and technicians may spend more time with patients and thus may notice warning signs earlier. It is imperative to foster a culture where they can speak up freely and without hesitation if something concerning is caught in a patient.  When might mistakes happen most often? Hanna et al. found that radiological interpretation errors were more likely to occur later in shifts, peaking around the 10-to-12-hour mark. Leviatan et al. found that medication prescription errors were more likely to occur by physicians working on 2nd and 3rd consecutive shifts. Hendey et al. found medication ordering errors were higher on overnight and post-call shifts. Gatz et al. found that surgical procedural complication rates are higher during the last 4 hours of a 12-hour shift. In Short, Ends of shifts are when mistakes are most likely to occur.  Overall takeaway? In a healthcare team, it is critical to look after each other regardless of years of experience or post-nominal letters, and speak up for patient safety.
