It's National Dog Day, and a perfect excuse to talk about everyone's favorite Austinites: Dogs! It can be a ruff life for canines, but in Central Texas, we sure do love our pooches. To celebrate them, host Nikki DaVaughn is joined by Luis Sanchez, the spokesman for Austin Pets Alive!, and executive producer and dog-lover Eva Ruth Moravec. We're sharing our best tips for dog parents, including where to find and request low-cost resources for pets, the many off-leash dog spots in ATX, and how you can foster a pet for a few hours, a few days, or longer. We'd like to thank Tecovas, who makes our favorite Western wear in town, for being our exclusive launch sponsor. Want some more Austin news? Then make sure to sign up for our Hey Austin newsletter. Today's show opens with a recap of a huge news day on Sunday and the reverberations it made throughout the weekend. Needless to say, the biggest story is the one that popped the DNC's bubble one day after Kamala Harris's coronation. It was the announcement by RFK, Jr. that he was going to drop out of the battleground states and support Donald Trump. Later on Friday, RFK, Jr. then spoke at the Trump rally in Arizona and was met with thunderous applause. Let's be clear, these two are not blanket endorsing the other. But, on the issues of endless wars, censorship, lack of democratic ideals and keeping Americans sick, they are in total alignment and that was enough to bring them together. Naturally, this led the Left to wage an even bigger war against Robert Kennedy, Junior. The Left plays nasty and when challenged, can get even nastier. But, underneath it, they are in full panic. They know the margins in the battleground states is razor-thin (if the polling is to be believed) and a swing of 5% or 6% is huge in changing the outcome. Looks like the Left is going to need to print more ballots! The walking male member with eyebrows, Alejandro Mayorkas has decided, after only putting them in place for just over a month, to pull RFK, Jr.'s Secret Service team. Hell hath no fury like a temper-tantrum-throwing toddler. Today is also the three year anniversary of 13 service members being killed in the Biden-Harris regime's disastrous surrender and withdrawal from Afghanistan. While Joe stayed on vacation and Kamala ignored it, Donald Trump was at Arlington to place a wreath in their remembrance. No matter how the Left wants to gas-light, Afghanistan is owned in whole by Harris and Biden. As we wind down, reporters who just 5 years ago were appalled at Harris's policy of putting parents of truants in jail to then saying that never happened. They are willing to bald-face lie about the past in an effort to support their anointed queen. They need you to hate Donald Trump more than you want to see our problems fixed. Finally, we have another fake element to Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN). Today is National Dog Day. In light of that, we remind you he put out a post about his dog, Scout, on June 15, 2022. It's a great picture of a Black Lab mix. Then, just a few months later, on October 19, 2022, he shares another picture of Scout, only this time, it's a brown and white non-Lab mix. What an amazing dog to be able to change it's color and morph it's breed in the space of four months. Is there anything real about Tim Walz at all? Take a moment to rate and review the show and then share the episode on social media. You can find me on Facebook, X, Instagram, GETTR and TRUTH Social by searching for The Alan Sanders Show. 8/26/24 7am CT Hour - Preston Allex/ Kendra Von Esh John and Sarah chat about RFK Jr stepping down, back to school, Little League Championship and National Dog Day. Preston explains what Catholic Legacy is and why it's important for all parents to have a will. Another steamy one today with a high near 96° expected. Talked about Trump coming to town for a visit later this week, and a new Trump item you might want for your office or man-cave! There was a wild finish to the Little League World Series yesterday, and a wild finish on Saturday night during the NASCAR race! Today is "National Dog Day", so we discussed some of the deals you can take advantage of for your pooch! Great story about the Cat Tour in Minneapolis and a truly heart-warming story about a teacher who adopted one of his students, along with the kids other siblings! This week's "Monday Morning Throwback" was from 2011 and dealt with Shaw's infatuation with his Spanish teacher in college. The jersey that Babe Ruth wore when he "called his shot" just sold at auction for a TON of money. Check out this HILARIOUS video of Lucy May the new bat-dog for the Clearwater Threshers! During today's "Bad News with Happy Music", we had stories about a guy in Iowa who got arrested for making "animal crush" videos, an update on the NASA astronauts stuck in space, some parents in Missouri that got arrested for feeding their 8-week old baby nothing but Mt. Dew & Vienna sausages, a pet adoption that ended in a gun being drawn, a water buffalo that got loose, a gym teacher who got robbed by a hooker, a pharmacy in the UK that suggested changing condoms every half-hour if you have lengthy sex sessions, and a new service in Australia that allows employees to avoid texts/calls/emails from their job after work hours. This episode covered a wide range of topics, from recommendations vs feed drops to event experiences, audio engineering, and more. Here are three key takeaways that I think will be valuable for you: The Power of Clear Communication: As podcast hosts, it's crucial to provide clear information about your show's theme or target audience. This helps potential guests understand the interview questions better, leading to more engaging and insightful conversations. Navigating the Event Landscape: The episode delves into the speaker's experiences attending various conferences and events. They highlight the advantages of smaller, more intimate gatherings, such as Indipodcon in New Jersey. Smaller events foster meaningful connections and conversations, unlike larger conferences, which can sometimes feel overwhelming. Feed Drops for Promoting Podcasts: Dave explains the concept of feed drops, where podcasters share an episode from another show on their own platform. We discuss two options: playing the entire episode or providing a host-read endorsement and linking to the episode. Feed drops can be a great way to collaborate and introduce your audience to new content. National Dog Day is coming right up: The Maryland SPCA is celebrating at the Rotunda. We speak with Katie Flory, director of Community Care & Advocacy for the Maryland SPCA. Beyond this celebration, Flory says the length of stay for animals in the shelter has doubled in recent months, as families cope with inflation and other economic challenges. The non-profit is working to prevent pet surrenders by holding neighborhood wellness clinics and distributing pet food to those in need. National Dog Day at the Rotunda is tomorrow, from 11-5 pm. The Festival for the Animals is September 23rd at Padonia Park Club. Check out animals available in the shelter. Back The Blue K-9 Force became a 501c3 in March of 2016. We worked with K-9s from several different departments around Metro Denver. We purchased with donated funds 15 K-9s. Two of the SRO dogs K-9s Zeke and Riley are included in that number. We wanted to become involved with the SRO program when we learned about how therapy dogs calm kids with special needs in times of crisis and provide comfort to all the students. The goal is to raise funds and awareness of why School Resource Therapy K-9s are needed. To help raise money to purchase more SRO dogs as well as to cover their medical and needed safety gear. Also, to help with the apprehension, narcotics, explosive, and electronics detection K-9s who often partner with the SRO dogs. Join us for a pet friendly 5k trail run/walk to spread mental health awareness and PAWSitivity in schools with the help of more therapy K9's like Rex. Visit RexRun.com to sign up for this great event. Run/Walk Info: Come celebrate National Dog Day at our family fun 5K Trail run/walk event on August 26th! This is a year of celebration! Welcome to August 26th, 2022 on the National Day Calendar. Today we celebrate women's rights and man's best friend. On this day in 1920 the United States Congress passed the 19th Amendment to the Constitution granting women full and equal voting rights. While it may sound preposterous today, this amendment was 80 years in the making, if you take into account that the seeds of unrest were sown in the early 1800s. That's when Lucretia Mott and Elizabeth Cady Stanton, along with Martha Wright, Mary Ann McClintock and Jane Hunt set in motion plans for the first woman's rights convention in Seneca Falls, New York after being denied access to the Anti-Slavery Convention in London. Today we celebrate National Women's Equality Day and the one hundred years of progress we have made since the 19th Amendment was passed. Over 15,000 years ago, early humans domesticated wolves and created a friendship that has stood the test of time. Since then dogs have proven to be loyal, friendly and hardworking to boot. No other canine represents these traits better than the film star Lassie. While this collie was first played by a pedigree female, she refused to swim in the river and was replaced by a male dog named Pal. Since then, all nine Lassies have been male and all of them descendants of Pal. It turns out that male collies don't lose their coats as often as females and are therefore more suited to their movie closeups. On National Dog Day, celebrate your own furry friends who are awfully glad that you're in their pack. I'm Anna Devere and I'm Marlo Anderson. Thanks for joining us as we Celebrate Every Day!
