Send us a textAnother great interview with channel leader, Rob Rae, Corporate Vice President of Community and Ecosystems, at Pax8. Rob shared his positive outlook for 2024, particularly in cybersecurity and AI, noting a trend among small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) towards more strategic planning and budgeting in these areas. He emphasized the need for managed service providers (MSPs) to effectively monetize AI technologies, while Julian highlighted the importance of MSPs becoming knowledgeable about AI to confidently address client inquiries. Both acknowledged that being a reliable source of information will be essential for MSPs as the industry evolves. The managed services sector is experiencing significant growth, with Canalys reporting increases in Professional Services Automation (PSA) and Remote Monitoring and Management (RMM) technologies. This growth is driven by rising demand from SMBs, prompting MSPs to adopt automation and AI to improve service delivery and scalability. However, the industry faces challenges in attracting and retaining skilled talent, as new workforce entrants often lack essential technical troubleshooting skills. Additionally, there is a noticeable shift towards newer PSA solutions, indicating a dynamic market landscape.Concerns about outages and downtime, even among major providers like Microsoft, have led some MSPs to reconsider cloud solutions in favor of on-premises systems, reflecting the ongoing evolution in the IT landscape, and highlighting the complexities of transitioning to new technologies while addressing sustainability challenges posed by cloud data centers. The conversation also touched on generational shifts in consumer behavior, particularly the influence of Gen Z on the workforce and purchasing decisions. Rob noted that Gen Z's preferences for online shopping and engagement differ from previous generations, and they emphasized the need for MSPs to adapt their marketing strategies accordingly.Stay tuned for more on Pax8 in the upcoming months.

Therefore, it is crucial that we keep informed of what occurs. 12:01 – Kipp notes that while there are numerous distinct evolutionary programs, the owner's program's flagship is actually centered upon four planes. It is your strategy, as well as your life plan, and it is your personal and business legacy plan. Therefore, your life plan is "What are your one-year goals? What do you want, exactly, since it's only a one-year team goal?” 14:57 – Brian claims that Derek's clip is a fantastic episode since it will be the clip we share with you after you have listened to a journey. 15:40 – Derek shares his journey. He started looking for work but was turned down because of his lack of qualifications. He had applied to work as an installer, was using a headhunter, and had once been interviewed at Sprint for a position that sounded absolutely awful: database administrator for reporting, and creating reports for executives. But in the end, wanting a job with the least amount of responsibility. 19:24 – Robb claims that Vince's clip is his favorite episode because it was about how he felt about an anchor and how to deal with anchor network problems, and since Vince is a peer group facilitator and had so many smart things to say. 24:15 – Tim thinks that too many individuals do things well and likes the idea of not placing a lot of emphasis on the income standpoint. They place a lot of emphasis on the revenue generated by each client. You should be evaluated to determine if these are the proper people for you and if they are real. 24:36 – Brian said there are a lot of other variables you can consider besides just pure income and when you start growing to the level where you are at. He always looks at those plans to make sure they aren't overlooking those clients in the middle of the stack. That is also prepared for ascent. 27:27 – According to Rob Rae, it is simple to predict that, at some point, any organization, regardless of location or size, will find that having in-house IT personnel is no longer necessary. This may be the case in order to protect internal infrastructure, but as far as anything that is coming from the outside, things are moving too quickly. 34:50 – Robb's query is answered by John. It's always preferable to attempt and change a connection or get it moving in the proper manner when you're in that position. This is why we always give 110% effort to say when we're in that position. 40:30 – Abe states that there is so much competition that he has a merger of equal platforms that will be completed soon and he increasingly sees a competitive advantage to call potential clients and informing them that he has sixty-five nondisclosure agreements (NDAs) from all of these buyers for this assignment, which will encourage serious bids from prospective buyers. 45:56 – Brian thanks all of the listeners for their support as he wraps up the podcast.

Rob Rae, senior vice president of Datto, joins Channelnomics' Changing Channels host Larry Walsh to discuss why vendors often struggle when building service channels and how to get the most out of MSP relationships. As the shift away from transactional sales models and toward service- and consumption-based paradigms progresses, vendors are realizing that managed service providers may be the ideal target for building out their indirect sales. That's because MSPs are entrenched in current revenue models, are used to selling to their customers, and already have a good installed base of customer and consumer services. But one problem remains – the mistaken presumption that MSPs will act in a way that aligns with what vendors know about their resellers and integrators. Vendors are designing channel programs around how they want to work with the market, not necessarily how partners or MSPs are working with their customers. That creates a gap between what the vendors are trying to do and what they're actually doing. One vendor with a keen awareness of what it takes to bridge that gap is Datto. The company has long been a key player in working with MSPs – championing them as bona fide partners and supporting them in getting their products to end users. Datto has developed MSP relationships that not only ensure its success in a changing industry but also allow it to work side by side with competitors and other service providers. The goal: to cultivate an integrative community that facilitates constant support for MSPs while stimulating the continued buildout of the consumption model. By persistently networking, communicating, and building on its relationships with partners, Datto fosters a climate of collaboration to keep MSPs running smoothly and create a positive partner experience. Rob Rae, senior vice president of Datto, joins Channelnomics' Changing Channels host Larry Walsh to discuss how Datto is leveraging its years of experience to ground its partner program in the concept of community and help MSPs grow their businesses. Abstract: CIS Control 3 is Data Protection and data is pretty much what's at stake for a high percentage of cyber attacks. Data is more valuable than oil and it fuels many organizations. Many of the baseline security recommendations from all of the security frameworks out there now recommend, or REQUIRE if you're in a regulated industry such as healthcare, that certain things like full disk encryption are simply put into place no matter your risk profile. Much of what's in the Data Protection Control represents the modern reality of cybersecurity.Note: we split up Data Protection into two shorter podcasts (about 20 minutes each) and therefore, you will see a "part 1 & part 2". Part 2 focuses in depth into CIS Control 3 and the Safeguards 3 - 7 (formerly called sub controls).Co-hosts in part 2 are: Ryan Weeks, CISO of Datto and Wes Spencer, CISO of Perch Security.Ryan Weeks: https://www.linkedin.com/in/ryanweeks/Wes Spencer: https://www.linkedin.com/in/wesspencer/Sponsor: Datto - https://www.datto.com/Rob Rae, SVP of Business Development: https://www.linkedin.com/in/robtrae/DattoCon: https://seattle.dattocon.com/

The average ransomware attack costs $4,300 dollars and companies pay 10 times that much in downtime, says Datto’s Rob Rae in this episode of Breaking Barriers. He sits down with Cisco’s Amy Hodge, who is vice chair of the Managed Services Community, to talk about Datto’s 2018 State of the Channel Ransomware Report. “The ransomware report is a tool MSPs can use to lead into a security discussion,” Hodge said. MSPs can also repackage information from the report it and use the paper to get end users interested in their managed services. The ransomware report includes data for UK, Canada, Australia and U.S. markets, and is in its third publication. This episode also includes tips on how to sell customers on ransomware solutions without playing on fear, and how to stay on top of GDPR as the standards change across the globe. “Let’s get everything in line so when the laws do change, you don’t have to worry about it,” Rae said. Download the State of the Channel Ransomware Report from the resource library at datto.com. “You can use it as an asset to get your end users interested in your managed services,” Rae said. What an irony! The week Matt and Rich invite managed security provider Rory Sanchez to join them as guest host there’s no security news to discuss. There is, however, a bunch of news from Ingram Micro to talk about, not to mention a big shakeup atop Datto, a big year for D&H, and holiday decorations for the geek in your life. Plus, it turns out Rory does a pretty decent Mr. T impression. Bonus! Subscribe to ChannelPro Weekly! Last week we had a report from Robin Robins’ Big Seminar – www.robinsbigseminar.com. This is the second report on that event – featuring an interview with Robin herself on why this event is different from other events in the community. In this podcast, I interview four folks: Nadia Karatsoreos from MAXfocus, Stephen Swavley from Documentation Toolkit, Rob Rae from Datto, and Robin Robins from Technology Marketing Toolkit. The first three are vendors. As you know, I love vendors because the pay the bills at these events. They literally make it possible for us to have channel-related events.
