– ROGER EARL –Celebrating 50 years of Foghat in 2021, Roger Earl is still ferociously banging away! Born in London, England (Hampton Court & raised in Hounslow) in 1946 to a musical family where his father played piano at home and local pubs and there was always music in the house. Although he wanted to play piano, his older brother Colin Earl (keyboard player with the band Mungo Jerry of ‘In the Summertime' fame) won that right. Roger began to play drums at the age of 12, took lessons for two years, and played with local bands around London while working as a commercial artist. He had a measure of success before auditioning for and joining the British Blues band Savoy Brown at age 20, with whom he recorded 5 albums (1967-1970) and toured the U.S. extensively. In 1970, Roger and Lonesome Dave Peverett decided to leave Savoy Brown to form Foghat. They enlisted former Savoy bass player Tony Stevens and Slide guitarist Rod Price and the rest has been rock n' roll history.Moving from England to the North Shore of Long Island in 1973, the band settled around the Port Jefferson area since their manager lived there. Roger loved the area and being an avid fisherman, especially enjoyed the fishing.During the 70's Foghat had a series of hit records such as “I Just Want to Make Love to You”, “Fool for the City”, “Slow Ride”, “Stone Blue”, “Drivin' Wheel”, “Third Time Lucky” and more. They were known as the hardest working band in Rock n' Roll since they toured 10 out of 12 months during this period.FOGHAT has a new album out called SONIC MOJO! https://foghat.comhttps://foghat.com/tour

We'll also dig into the results of John's 'Battle In the Eclipse' motocross race between Give Me the Vin and Richard Rawlings' Gas Monkey Garage, look back at the life, career, and infamous criminal history of the late OJ Simpson, a new transgender ban in college athletics (and our own little opinions, of course), a knock down drag out round of Wolfe Pack Jeopardy, and as always, we've got our own inimitable take on what's going on in the car biz (including classics and exotics!), sports, world news and politics, and more! So grab a fresh Natty Light and prepare to be entertained--the Wolfe Pack has what you need!

Welcome to a Very Special Episode of the podcast celebrating the show's 3rd Anniversary! I started the podcast in March 2021 during the depths of the pandemic, when musicians like me couldn't play live. It was a bleak time for all of us. I needed to find a creative outlet and so I started this podcast. From the beginning it grew quickly and exponentially. It's been ranked for some time now in the Top 1% of all podcasts. I have listeners worldwide on every continent in 200 countries, and it has won several awards! My guests have included many of the world's most famous musicians and other creatives.Last year to celebrate the 2nd Anniversary I played excerpts from several guest interviews. But for this 3rd Anniversary show I wanted to do something different - and fun. So here's what I decided. After each interview I ask my guest to record a short promo for the podcast. I use these promos at the beginning of other guest interviews. Everyone does their promo a little differently in their own style. After all, they're artists! So I thought it would be fun to put together a montage of promos featuring a slew of my guests. The entire list is below.I want to thank my guests and my listeners for the success of the podcast. As I like to say - Keep On Rockin'! Episode # 209 Savoy Brown is proud and excited to have released its new album, Blues All Around, worldwide on Quarto Records, on February 17. The release of the new album is especially poignant in that it comes after the December 13 passing from cancer of band founder and sole constant Savoy Brown member guitarist/lead vocalist Kim Simmonds. Simmonds is considered one of music's premier blues/blues rock guitarists and songwriters and is also discussed as one of the architects of the 1960's British blues scene in London. Simmonds, an early pioneer of the British blues movement and a passionate proponent of the blues, lost his hard-fought battle with cancer just a week after turning 75. Blues All Around follows Savoy Brown's critically acclaimed 2022 album, Ain't Done Yet, and is lovingly dedicated to the band's families, friends, and Savoy Brown fans everywhere

Roger Earl was a documentarian who managed to capture intense BDSM and kink sessions in some of the truest forms of erotic cinema verité, often polarizing and definitely shocking viewers. Earl's Born to Raise Hell was made at the same time as the other gay landmark films. However, this film's focus is primarily on gay male sadomasochistic practices and mostly devoid of any traces of tenderness or romance. Val Martin was a fixture in the middle of the golden era of gay porn, starring in various films that teetered on S&M. In the BDSM subsection, Val Martin was a god. In this episode, we will celebrate Roger Earl, a documentarian of BDSM and gay erotic films who strategically planned in preproduction to ensure realism the minute he yelled "Action." We will discuss his film, Born to Raise Hell, that echoes the experimental filmmaking techniques of the 60's underground and It's presentation of a sexual subculture where the experimentation lies. And finally we will honor Val Martin, the underground gay porn icon that helped bring out the inner kink in many gay men during the early days of the porn industry.
Foghat's Roger Earl was on the phone (on his birthday!) to talk to Chaz and AJ about the important connection between the band and WPLR. Chaz invited him, repeatedly, to play at this year's Toy Drive in December, and mentioned their live album is one of the greatest entries in rock history. In 1971, the English rock band Foghat formed in London, quickly becoming known for its use of electric slide guitar and it's hard rocking blues hits. Over the last 51 years, the band has attained eight gold records, one platinum record and one double platinum record for some of the greatest anthems in classic rock. Roger Earl is one of the original founding members, and the only one to still rock on the drums and tour with the band. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Rockshow Episode 161 Foghat RockerMike and Rob discuss Foghat. Formed in 1971 when Lonesome Dave Peverett & Roger Earl left the British blues-rock band, Savoy Brown, Foghat has earned eight Gold records, one Platinum record and one Double-Platinum record. And they continue to release new music every few years. They have never stopped touring and recording although there have been several ups and downs and changes over the years. They sadly lost Lonesome Dave Peverett in 2000 and Rod Price in 2005, but Roger Earl kept banging & kicking to keep Foghat's musical legacy going. Foghat celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2021, and their live performances show why the band is still around and why they will be able to keep on rockin' as long as they want to play! Their music is timeless, and touring is part of their DNA. Foghat's live show is as intense as ever with the incredible energy and musicianship that one would expect and hope for from a seasoned band with such a long musical history and they are bringing their fans along for the ride.
