This is an Encore Presentation of my January 2024 interview with Randy Brecker, one of the greatest trumpet players of this generation. His incredible work runs the gamut from Blood Sweat & Tears, where he was an original member, to The Brecker Brothers, the band that he formed with his brother Michael, to his work with a Who's Who of artists including these one-name wonders: Clapton, Springsteen, Elton, Aretha, Tina, Bette, Chaka, Carly and Jaco. And he's a 6x Grammy winner. My featured song is “Child's Play” from my “lost” 1994 debut album called Miles Behind. The Jazz Show takes a side-step this long weekend from its usual programming, Host Blind Mango Chutney calling a Rock Jazz theme. Blind Mango invites local vinyl collector Johnny Dambuster as special guest Selector —with the Rock Jazz theme being a much talked about concept between Blind Mango & the Dambuster for quite some time. The pair have a blast taking a deep dive & a somewhat wild ride into the Rock-Jazz milieu. First selections come from the early Rock' n' Roll period with key vocalists Big Mama Thornton & Big Maybelle. Things get a tad trippy with psychedelic selections from Hendrix, Les Paul, & Blood Sweat & Tears, unfolding later with some unlikely surprises, as Dambuster unearths some buried nuggets from Alice Cooper, Snakefinger (the Residents), & Throbbing Gristle. Plus The MC5 enter for a totally Sonic moment! - (It's all about the track's epic Drum intro, & the Saxophones mid track folks!). Blind Mango knocks it into the End-Zone with essential tracks from King Crimson, John McLaughlin, & Larry Coryell, ending the show on a total high with Charlie Hunter's great version of Nirvana's Come as You Are — all making for an eclectic, & indeed an *electric* mix of Rock-Jazz Vibes with a busy text machine keeping the Crew busy with ppl diggin' the show's selections. (A part 2 perhaps, guys?) DJ Sassy pops in to host the Jazz Gig Guide, & adds a refreshing beverage twist — & Miss Dom to present the Vinyl Fair Guide. Rock on Folks! With big thanks to our show sponsors: San Ray at 118 Ponsonby Road

This is the WORLD PREMIERE of “THE RICH ONES ALL STARS”, the new extended version of my recent single, “The Rich Ones”. The new version features me and my band, Project Grand Slam, along with 8 World Class musicians who previously have been guests on this podcast. Here's the back story.A few months ago I released a single, “The Rich Ones”, featuring Randy Brecker of Blood Sweat & Tears fame on flugelhorn. The single was very popular, and I decided to do something a bit daring and different. I've had many World Class musicians as guests on the podcast. So I asked several of them if they would record a new solo for the track and I would release a new, extended version of the tune. I'm pleased to say that everyone who I asked agreed. The new version, “The Rich Ones All Stars”, features the following musicians in this order.BILLY COBHAM of Mahavishnu Orchestra fame, recorded a new drum track for the tune. Billy is one of the most revered drummers of all time.I kept RANDY BRECKER'S flugelhorn solo from the original version of the tune because it's just so darn good.JOHN HELLIWELL was the saxophonist in Supertramp, one of the greatest bands of the rock era. John contributed a fantastic sax solo to the piece.PAT COIL is an acclaimed jazz pianist who has performed with Michael McDonald, Carmen McRae and many others. He added a sublime piano solo.PETER TIEHUIS is the heralded Dutch guitarist who performs with the Metropole Orkest. He contributed a wonderful guitar solo.ANTONIO FARAO is the extraordinary Italian jazz keyboard player who has performed with Joe Lovano and Jack DeJohnette among others. Antonio contributed a smokin' Fender Rhodes keyboard solo.ELLIOTT RANDALL is the incredible guitarist who gave the world the unforgettable solo on Steely Dan's “Reelin' In The Years”. Elliott gave me a classic guitar solo for the new track. And last, but certainly not least, is DAVID AMRAM, who is, simply put, a National Treasure at 96 years young. He was Leonard Bernstein's first composer in residence for the New York Philharmonic and also the composer for Shakespeare In The Park among many other accomplishments. David contributed a stunning Pennywhistle solo for the track. So there it is. 8 World Class musicians who have contributed their talent to this project.TO WATCH THE OFFICIAL VIDEO CLICK HERETO LISTEN AND STREAM THE TRACK AND FOR ALL LINKS CLICK HERE---------------------------------------------The Follow Your Dream Podcast:Top 1% of all podcasts with Listeners in 200 countries! For more information and other episodes of the podcast click here. To subscribe to the podcast click here .To subscribe to our weekly Follow Your Dream Podcast email click here.To Rate and Review the podcast click here.“Dream With Robert”. In this message, Pastor Zach Martin delves into the concept of work from a biblical perspective, contrasting it with modern hustle culture. We see how God's plan for us includes work, but not in the stressful, overwhelming way that society often portrays it. Instead we learn the importance of the finished work of Christ, embracing the good work God has given us, and our role in walking slowly with the Holy Spirit.

On today's an episode we bring you a special presentation by L Amber O' Hearn, M. Sc. from the Ancestral Health Symposium. All of our past AHS presentations can be found on our YouTube channel Ancestral Health Today “For decades, the Dietary Guidelines of America have recommended strictly limiting added dietary salt primarily on the basis of real but largely clinically irrelevant effects on blood pressure. Members of the Low Carb and Paleo Diet communities have pointed out the senselessness of these recommendations, while also noting observational correlations between moderately higher salt intake and lower mortality. While it's true that salt has been highly prized in post-agricultural times, evidence does not support high sodium intake in either the Paleolithic or modern non-agrarian societies. In this talk I will present anthropological and biological evidence for and against increasing salt intake, with special attention to the ketogenic and animal-food-predominant dietary contexts” Get full access to Ancestral Health Today Substack at ancestralhealth.substack.com/subscribe

Steve Katz and Blood, Sweat & Tears (BS&T) are synonymous with the golden era of American rock and jazz fusion. This iconic band, known for its genre-blending music, was founded by Steve Katz and went on to achieve massive success in the late 1960s and early 1970s. In this episode, we explore the fascinating story of Steve Katz and his pivotal role in shaping BS&T's ground-breaking sound. Steve Katz was born in New York City and displayed a passion for music from a young age. His journey in the music world gained momentum in the early ‘60s when he joined The Even Dozen Jug Band, a folk collective. Later, he co-founded the influential rock band The Blues Project. In 1967, Steve co-founded Blood, Sweat & Tears, a band that aimed to fuse rock, jazz, and R&B elements to create a unique musical experience. His vision set the stage for a new era in popular music.  As a founding member, guitarist, and songwriter, Steve played a vital role in shaping BS&T's signature sound. His guitar work blended seamlessly with the brass section, creating a dynamic and unforgettable blend of rock and jazz. Under his creative leadership, BS&T released their eponymous album in 1968, which became a massive success, reaching the top of the charts. The album's hits like "You've Made Me So Very Happy" and "Spinning Wheel" showcased Katz's song-writing prowess and the band's ability to transcend traditional musical boundaries. Katz left BS&T in 1973 to concentrate on solo projects and collaborations with other artists including the late Lou Reed. He also delved into producing and engineering, contributing his expertise to various musical endeavours. BS&T's legacy remained strong, leading to reunion concerts and acknowledgments of their contributions. These reunions often highlighted Steve's role in the band's success and his ongoing impact on the music world. Steve Katz joins us this week to talk about his rock n roll life, his autobiography and the upcoming documentary ‘What the Hell Happened to Blood Sweat & Tears” that details the way the Nixon Government coerced and blackmailed the band to play for audiences behind the iron curtain. It's truly a fascinating story. I hope you enjoy it. For more information about Steve Katz head for his website https://stevekatzmusic.wordpress.com/ If you'd like to contact me with feedback, comments or suggestions for future guests please feel free to reach out through my website https://abreathoffreshair.com.au/ I'd love to hear from you!

Trumpeter/composer/arranger/bandleader/educator Tony Kadleck is one of the most sought-after trumpet players on the New York City scene, and has been for some time. He moved to NYC in 1986, following his studies at the New England Conservatory–and a stint in the trumpet section of The Buddy Rich Big Band–and his phone has been ringing ever since. For good reason; at every turn, Kadleck puts the music first, and more than takes care of business. He graduated from the Manhattan School of Music in 1989 and quickly hit the road with the likes of Frank Sinatra, Barbara Streisand, Blood Sweat & Tears, and others. Eventually, Kadleck was in such high demand locally, for studio and stage work, that touring took a back seat. He played on countless jingles, scores for TV and film, and worked with the cream of the crop, including Luther Vandross, Michael Jackson, Elton John, Celine Dion, Stevie Wonder, Ella Fitzgerald, Issac Hayes, and most recently Steely Dan, Tony Bennett/Lady Gaga, Santana, Weezer, Steve Tyrell, and many, many others. In addition to an on-going abundance of freelance sideman work with NYC's A-list artists, Kadleck is currently a member of many organizations, including the New York Pops, John Pizzarelli's “Swing Seven”, the Maria Schneider Orchestra, John Fedchock's NY Big Band, and can currently be heard on Broadway in the band for “MJ”.     To say that Kadleck is a rare bird is a major understatement. Possessing the expertise, musical acumen, phrasing, range, chops, and the desire to handle gigs as diverse as the New York Pops and The Who (for example) with straight-ahead professionalism and excellence is not common. His prowess now bears fruit on his own project, Sides (to be released on Marshall Gilkes' Alternate Side Records on February 10, 2023), which follows up his previous big band album, Around The Horn, and his debut as a leader, Extended Outlook.

Building a habitat on Mars or the Moon is hard work, but it's a lot easier if you can make your own building materials. Animal blood has historically been used as a binding agent for mortar, so could human blood help on Mars? You can make your own building materials on the Moon or Mars that are far stronger than on earth especially if you add tears and blood. Maybe you don't want to use blood in when building your martian home, but would you sacrifice your potato chips? Potato chips and some extra salt will can make for super strong building materials on the Moon or Mars. Is there ways to enhance the performance of concrete by using other industries waste byproducts? All waste has to be re-used when you're in space, but here on earth using waste water and waste steel can help boost concrete. Aled D. Roberts, Nigel S. It examines the way in which games are made by asking the very people who create them, though the questions asked aren't just about game design, they also cover how developers made their start and what inspires them as creators. Split into two halves, the first segment delves into what makes the developers tick by asking about how they started, what and who inspires them and what games they are currently playing, whereas the second part of the show covers the game that they are currently working on and the thought processes behind its development. So, if you really want to hear about a game's gestation in full and frank detail then you have found the right podcast.
