KISS. - Aerosmith debuterer, de transvestit klædte The New York Dolls lancerer deres præ-punk/glam og Iggy & The Stooges udviser frenetisk rå kraft.

Closer to My Home” is the long-awaited, new album from legendary guitarist and singer/songwriter Mark Farner. Bridging past and present, the grit of industry and the calloused hard work of a rural man,“ Closer to My Home” champions Farner's multi-faceted artistry.     “The songs on the Closer to My Home are honest and from my heart,” Farner said.  “The collaboration with Jim (Peterik) and Mark (Slaughter) came from a place of trust and that makes the whole experience so much more rewarding as songwriters. The audience can feel that and these songs reflect those very human moments that you can't find creating a song from a computer.”     ‘Closer to My Home' comes from the idea that love is at the heart of all that I do, and music is my home.” As one of the founding members, lead singer, lead guitarist, and wrote more than 90% of the Grand Funk music catalog, Farner has always been known as the energetic driving force on stage, the engine that pulled the original Grand Funk Railroad to the top. ‘Anymore' is the latest single released, Here is one passage:     “In the beginning it was me and my band It's sad to say, that we don't play together anymore It's not the quantity, it's the honesty my friends The story ends, and I'm not angry with ‘em anymore.” “Love keep on shinnin', shinnin' on me.” Markfarner.com – to download the “Closer to my home” album and the single, “Anymore.” Also you can learn more about Mark's upcoming tour dates.

- The MC5 besørger Motörheads senere eksistens.

Jeremy Clark of Tracer Heights was in the house for Episode No. 128, and dang it if it isn't always refreshing to chat with a fellow Phishhead.Trust me: I'm not trying to pigeonhole Jeremy or say that that's all there is to say about him. There's a ton more. Rare is the opportunity, though.Anyway...Jeremy's a son and a brother and a bandmate and one heck of a sharp dude; I really enjoyed getting to know him a little bit. We talked a fair amount about Tracer Heights, what they're all about, and what his role as the bassist looks like. We also talked about a few of Jeremy's favorite albums. Those were these:Pet Sounds (1966), The Beach BoysNine Inch Nails' Broken (1992)Mellon Collie & the Infinite Sadness (1995), The Smashing PumpkinsThe Flaming Lips' The Soft Bulletin (1999)Person Pitch (2007), Panda BearSo, please check out our conversation. These chats are almost always awesome; this one was no exception. And please check out Tracer Heights. Find out more about them at tracerheights.com, on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and Bandcamp. They're rock, blues, and bluegrass with the spirit of psychedelic improvisational music, and they're gigging often here in K.C.copyright disclaimer: I do not own the rights to the audio samples contained within this episode. In 1969, Mark Farner, along with Don Brewer (drums and vocals) and Mel Schacher (bass), formed the band Grand Funk Railroad.  They quickly gained recognition for their energetic, bluesy rock sound.  The band's name was a play on words, inspired by the Grand Trunk Western Railroad that ran through their hometown of Flint, Michigan.  Grand Funk Railroad achieved massive success in the early 1970s. Their music was characterized by a blend of rock, funk, and blues.  The band released a series of hit albums, including "On Time" (1969), "Grand Funk" (1970), "Closer to Home" (1970), and "E Pluribus Funk" (1971). These albums produced chart-topping singles such as "We're an American Band" and "Some Kind of Wonderful.”  Known for their high-energy live performances, Grand Funk Railroad played to large crowds and set attendance records, including a legendary performance at the Shea Stadium in New York City.  Their music resonated with the counterculture of the time and made them one of the most popular and commercially successful rock bands of the era.  In 1972, Mark Farner left Grand Funk Railroad due to creative and contractual disputes.  He embarked on a solo career, releasing albums like "Mark Farner" (1977) and "No Frills" (1978). He continued to tour and record as a solo artist while Grand Funk Railroad continued with a modified lineup.  Grand Funk Railroad reunited in various lineups over the years, with Mark Farner rejoining the band for several reunions.  Their music continued to be celebrated, and they received numerous accolades and honours for their contributions to rock music.  Farner's guitar work and powerful vocals remained iconic in the world of rock. Some 50 years later something magical still happens when Farner takes the stage.  His voice is still strong and on key, his guitar playing still slick and lighting quick, and his trademark prancing still commands the stage and mesmerizes his audiences around the world. “I love playing live where I can connect with people of all backgrounds,” he said. “ It's all about the fans…and all about love.” Mark is also known for his philanthropic work and his strong Christian faith, which has been a central part of his life.  This week MARK FARNER joins us to share his story and incredible music. To learn more about Mark head for his website https://markfarner.com/ To connect with me with feedback or a request for a future guest on the show, send me a message through my website https://abreathoffreshair.com.au/ I hope you enjoy Mark Farner's story.

Most of the A-listers like: Iron Maiden, Saxon, and Def Leppard went on to major success, but bands from around the globe were inspired and aspired to carry the torch of heavy metal in the early 80s. Chuck full of heavy fuzz bass, and amazing guitar work and singing from Mark Farner, this indeed is a classic album in our opinion. This week we offer up the 9th installment of our series called, “Degrees Of Separation…” where we discuss the more obscure side projects and solo releases from some not-so-obscure artists. This time around we are paying homage to one of the original classic rock gunslingers that helped design the template for hard rock in the 80s and beyond: the amazingly talented RONNIE MONTROSE! While he's no longer with us, his spirit carries on in strength and numbers in his vast body of work from the various bands he fronted or participated in.New to InObscuria? It's all about digging up obscure Rock n' Punk n' Metal from one of 3 categories: the Lost, the Forgotten, or the Should Have Beens. While we may be talking about a band or artist that many of you know in this episode, perhaps you are not aware of the depth of side projects he has had over his long career. Our hope is that we turn you on to something new!Songs this week include:The Edgar Winter Group - “Undercover Man” from They Only Come Out At Night (1972)Montrose - “Make It Last” from Montrose (1973)Gamma - “Razor King” from Gamma 1 (1979)Montrose - “M Is For Machine” from Mean (1987)Ronnie Montrose - “New Kid In Town” from The Diva Station (1990)Glenn Hughes - “Justified Man” from Addiction (1996)Ronnie Montrose - “The Kingdom's Come Undone” from 10 X 10 (2017)Gamma - “Open Fire” from Legends Live In Concert Vol. 17 (2015)Ronnie Montrose - “Another Brick In The Wall, Pt. 2” from Backs Against The Wall – A Tribute To Pink Floyd (2006)Visit us: https://inobscuria.com/https://www.facebook.com/InObscuriahttps://twitter.com/inobscuriahttps://www.instagram.com/inobscuria/Buy cool stuff with our logo on it!: https://www.redbubble.com/people/InObscuria?asc=uCheck out Robert's amazing fire sculptures and metal workings here: http://flamewerx.com/If you'd like to check out Kevin's band THE SWEAR, take a listen on all streaming services or pick up a digital copy of their latest release here: https://theswear.bandcamp.com/If you want to hear Robert and Kevin's band from the late 90s – early 00s BIG JACK PNEUMATIC, check it out here: https://bigjackpnuematic.bandcamp.com/
