On this week's show, your host, Justin Mog, gets sunny about our city's energy future with Sam Avery and Margaret Stewart from REAL, the Renewable Energy Alliance of Louisville (https://renewableenergylouisville.org/). Tune in to learn about REAL's work to hold the city accountable for implementing Metro Council's Resolution that lays out an immediate goal of 100% renewable electricity for city government operations by 2030, or about 100M kwh, $12M/year, or 84MW. We discuss ways the city can achieve this goal, some obstacles in the way, and what role LG&E might play in all of this. We'll also give you a sneak preview of REAL's upcoming quarterly event this week: REAL Good News: A Solar Farm for Louisville? Wednesday, Jan. 11th, 7:00-8:30pm, on Zoom A solar power installation in Louisville could go a long way to meeting the city's renewable energy goal. A virtual event on Wednesday will explore how that could become a reality as “REAL Good News” holds its ninth in a series of quarterly public Zoom meetings aimed at making sure Louisville implements its green energy goals. In 2020 the Metro Council passed a resolution to move the city's operations to 100% clean renewable electricity by 2030. That resolution also sets a goal of 100% clean energy for the entire Louisville community by 2040. Wednesday's event will feature a description of a solar project that's underway in Hart County, and the steps required to build a similar project in Louisville. Speakers will include Rob Kalbouss, project manager for the Thoroughbred Solar Installation in Hart County, and Julie Donna, climate justice organizer with Kentuckians for the Commonwealth. Music by Louisville musician and activist John Gage will open and close the event. People attending will also learn about how to attend Metro Council meetings to speak in favor of implementing Louisville's clean energy resolution. The three sponsoring organizations are 100%REAL, Kentucky Interfaith Power and Light, and the Christian Action group of St. Paul United Methodist Church. Register and learn more at https://renewableenergylouisville.org/ As always, our feature is followed by your community action calendar for the week, so get your calendars out and get ready to take action for sustainability NOW! A startlingly original horror novel from the author of Hex. It's one thing to lose your life. It's another to lose your soul. When climber Nick Grevers is brought down from the mountains after a terrible accident, he has lost his looks, his hopes and his climbing companion. His account of what happened on the forbidden peak of the Maudit is garbled, almost hallucinogenic. Soon it becomes apparent more than his shattered body has returned: those who treat his disfigured face begin experiencing extraordinary and disturbing psychic events that suggest that Nick has unleashed some ancient and primal menace on his ill-fated expedition. Nick's partner, Sam Avery, has a terrible choice to make. He fell in love with Nick's youth, vitality and beauty. Now these are gone, and all that is left is a haunted mummy - worse, a glimpse beneath the bandages can literally send a person insane. Sam must decide: either to flee to America or to take Nick on a journey back to the mountains, the very source of the curse, the little Alpine village of Grimnetz, its soul-possesed Birds of Death and its legends of human sacrifice and, ultimately, its haunted mountain, the Maudit. Dutch writer Thomas Olde Heuvelt is a Hugo Award winner and has been hailed as the future of speculative fiction in Europe. His work combines a unique blend of popular culture and fairy-tale myth that is utterly unique. Echo follows his sensational debut English-language novel, Hex.

Facial bias is something we're all guilty of. We all do it every time we meet somebody. It's a human evolutionary response buried deep within us. So deep, in fact, that when we're *told* specifically to look out for facial biases, we do it even more. There are obvious evolutionary advantages to being able to recognise behaviours early on. Being able to see aggression coming will help us to survive longer. But do they have any advantages in this day and age? And what are the disadvantages? Kat Ford is a behavioural evolutionary psychologist who has studied facial bias. You can read her paper on Facial Masculinity and Agreeableness on Perceptions of Criminality online. Dad's Hour was back for another week with a bit of a Halloween special! With Halloween fast approaching we thought it would be best to ask the Dad's what sort of outfits they'll be dressing their kids up in and what is the most ridiculous costume they have worn? We also spoke about a recent survey that said 1 in 10 boys didn't know that milk came from a cow and how boys apparently spend a lot more money on proms now than girls. We had to ask Iain and Sam how much they'd be prepared to pay out on their children when the day come!

We done things a bit differently on Dad's Hour this week. We wanted to take a look at the highs and lows of being a Dad after we received the amazing news that Erin Cross is in remission following her Car-T cell treatment! Erin is a lovely 5 year old girl from Chester who needed to raise £100,000 to receive her treatment in Seattle to help with her battle with leukaemia. Erin's Dad, Anthony, told Mick of how overwhelmed he was by the generosity of people who have helped Erin and how ecstatic he was that she is in remission. We also caught up with Rugby legend and Question of Sport star, Matt Dawson, who told us of his struggles as a Dad. Matt's son suffered from meningitis and Matt wanted to come on to Dad's Hour to tell his story and raise awareness about this terrible disease.

On this week's Dad's Hour, there was another special guest in the form of Olympic silver medallist Mark Cavendish! Mark was fresh from Rio and joined the Dad's to tell them what life is like being an Olympic Dad. Also on Dad's Hour, a recent survey said that half of UK parents admitted to letting their kids under 14 have a drink in the house and 1 in 10 even admitted letting children as young as 5 drink alcohol. We wanted to get Sam's and Iain's thoughts on this and at what age they'd think it was acceptable to give their kids their first drink.

On this week's Dad's hour, we had a very special guest on the show, comedian and presenter... Rufus Hound! Rufus came on to tell the Dad's about how rubbish it is to take your kids on holiday with you and how you can stop it from happening. This also got the Dad's talking about where they used to go on holiday and what it's like to be a modern Dad on holiday. Also, would you neglect your kids to play Pokémon Go? A couple in America did exactly that! The Dad's gave their thoughts.
