Evangelos Marinakis is still making headlines as Nottingham Forest released a statement on social media about the seriousness of Taiwo Awoniyi's injury suffered at the weekend. But does it provide a suitable reason for him storming the pitch after the 2-2 draw with Leicester? Elsewhere, Everton are allowing Goodison Park to keep hosting football. The club have confirmed their women's team is set to play their games at the iconic ground, but is the news as good as it seems? And finally, Manchester United have revealed that they won't host a trophy parade if they win the Europa League. Instead, a low-key barbecue at the training ground will be held as Jim Ratcliffe continues to penny pinch. All that and more discussed on today's FSD! Dan Roan, the BBC's sports editor, speaks to Sir Jim Ratcliffe, billionaire businessman and co-owner of Manchester United Football Club. In this conversation, Sir Jim discusses the changes he's implementing both on and off the pitch, as well as his vision to transform the iconic club into one of the world's most profitable businesses. Born into a modest family, he's been a lifelong Manchester United supporter. After studying chemical engineering at university he set up his chemicals business, INEOS, in 1998. He is still the Chairman and Chief Executive. INEOS has invested in cycling, Formula One motor racing and sailing. He's been running Manchester United for just over a year and he himself admits its been a challenging 12 months. In this interview, you'll hear how he is applying his business skills to turn the club – currently struggling both on the pitch and financially – into a success. With a substantial debt estimated at around one billion pounds, the club has seen job cuts and ticket price increases. Sir Jim acknowledges that the anger directed at him is understandable but remains focused on his goal: to make Manchester United the most profitable club in the world. Have I got an idea for Netflix - although I'm unlikely the first to have it. The shock announcement late this week that Peter Burling was leaving Team New Zealand made me wish Netflix would take us inside the world of match racing and the America's Cup. It's got everything that's made F1 such a TV hit - big money, big personalities, big egos, big competition - with a solid dose of life-threatening risk thrown in. Who wouldn't watch it? You would, right? I don't really give a flying hoot whether the America's Cup comes back to New Zealand. I don't think a lot of Kiwis do, even if they have cherished memories of past Cups. I think we all now understand the nature of this sport. It's driven by a wealthy few, and paid for by aspirational brands. It will do whatever it needs to thrive as an event. It doesn't stop us getting behind the sailors and the incredible design teams when racing begins. But we don't feel attached in the same way we once were. But back to my point - it would make for great TV. There's always some kind of potential ‘blowup' lurking near the running of the America's Cup and Team New Zealand - location negotiations, rivalries and disputes, and fascinating characters all over it. In January, skipper Sir Ben Ainslie and INEOS chef Jim Ratcliffe suddenly split - and in the last couple of days, INEOS Britannia announced it was abandoning its challenge for the next America's Cup after failing to reach a settlement with Ainslie's team Athena Racing. Can't you just see Jimmy Spithill being the resident expert talking us through it all? What good fun! The parting of Peter Burling and Team New Zealand is probably as simple as it sounds. This is what Team New Zealand Chief Executive Grant Dalton told Ryan Bridge on Drive on Friday when he asked what happened…. AUDIO: We just ran out of time basically….. we couldn't get going… we're in new territory trying to win it for the fourth time… We got to get going.” Who knows if Burling was aware of the time constraints on him to make a decision. Dalton says money and time were issues. Burling is apparently surprised it has come to this. But they both claim to be parting on good terms, and I believe it. Burling stepped up when he was 26 with a bunch of cyclists and his trusty sidekick Blair Tuke to win the America's Cup in Bermuda. He then went on to defend it twice more. It's an incredible record for such a young athlete, and it's no surprise that in-between the four-year America's Cup cycle he's gone on to lead the Black Foils Sail GP team and set up an environmental charity. I wish him well. But once again, isn't it fascinating to watch a team do whatever they have to do to win? If you hate participation certificates, you'll love the cut throat nature of the America's Cup. Just like we do with F1. Except when it comes to Liam Lawson of course. There's cost cutting aplenty at Manchester United as Jim Ratcliffe ushers in a period of austerity, especially if you are a former player, a staff member without a packed lunch or, indeed, one without a job anymore. And yet, at the same time, United are trumpeting plans for a new stadium, albeit one that barely nods in the direction of their history. Is Ratcliffe's tin-eared PR sustainable or is cutting spending to the bine the only way to see the club prosper again? Alex Ireland and Rob Fletcher delve deep.
Thomas Tuchel had a dig at Gareth Southgate, claiming England played with no identity last summer, more focused on avoiding elimination than chasing glory. Manchester United used to dominate the Premier League.During Alex Ferguson's reign as manager, the team won 13 league titles – a record that's unlikely to be beaten.Since he stepped down in the 2012-2013 season it's been a trying time for Man U's loyal fans who have looked on as successive managers made poor choices and owners wasted eye-watering sums.To understand just why the team's glory days are a distant memory look beyond what happens on the pitch and take a closer look at how the owners – the American Glazer family who are the majority shareholders, and Jim Ratcliffe who bought 25 per cent of the club – are doing their business.Irish Times sports columnist Ken Early lays out the club's problems.Presented by Bernice Harrison. This week on The Sports Agents...From sneaking a disguised Novak Djokovic into a team talk, to lessons from Ben Stokes and the LIV/PGA divide, we chatted to European Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald for an exclusive interview (02:15). One day Jim Ratcliffe said Manchester United were on track to be 'bust by Christmas', and the next they announced plans for a £2bn stadium... so we asked Professor of Football Finance at the University of Liverpool, Kieran Maguire, how that makes sense (08:45). Michael Jordan, Usain Bolt, Sarah Storey... lots of famous sportspeople have tried switching sports. We got into what that's like with double Olympic champion Jade Jones, who's swapping taekwondo for boxing. We also chatted to Usain Bolt's football coach, Mike Mulvey (16:30). And comedian Adam Hills chatted to us about his new role as President of the Rugby Football league, which seems to involve a big gold chain, hearing stories from his Ukrainian counterpart and spending his spare time at the Para-Standing Tennis World Championships (21:30).

We are very excited to share this Special Edition COBT on the 5th Anniversary of We are very excited to share this Special Edition COBT on the 5th Anniversary of COBT. Our very first show was March 10, 2020 (exactly 5 years ago today!), and we are beyond thrilled that Secretary Chris Wright joined us to commemorate the event. This week will be his debut party at CERAWeek, so the timing could not have been better for a discussion. Secretary Wright was nominated by President Trump to serve as the 17th Secretary of Energy on November 16, 2024, and confirmed by the U.S. Senate on February 3rd, 2025. If you have not yet watched his confirmation hearing, it's a must-see for energy policy insights and is linked here. CERAWeek officially starts today in Houston (agenda linked here) and Secretary Wright was the kickoff speaker Monday morning. In our COBT discussion with Secretary Wright, we explore the expanding role of natural gas in the global energy mix, the rising costs of electricity, and the importance of grid stability supported by natural gas, nuclear, and coal. We discuss regulatory barriers affecting the construction of pipelines, transmission lines, and large-scale energy projects in the U.S. and how AI is shaping the future of energy from advancing fusion energy and grid optimization to breakthroughs in drug discovery and national security applications. Secretary Wright shares his observations that policymakers are becoming more pragmatic about energy affordability and reliability, the need for tailored energy solutions in the U.S. with many states relying on different energy sources, Puerto Rico's ongoing energy crisis and the determination of the current Governor to fix it, pipeline infrastructure challenges in the Northeast, and the important work that U.S. National Labs are doing to advance scientific achievements. We ask Secretary Wright for his thoughts on Europe's energy policies and the unfortunate industrial decline that's happening there, Africa's urgent need for reliable energy, and the complex realities of climate change. Secretary Wright emphasizes the importance of intellectual honesty in energy and climate discussions and shares insights on navigating government bureaucracy, building a high-performing team at DOE, and shaping energy policies that balance security, cost, and sustainability. As anyone who has listened to him knows, the message is “energy addition” and not “energy subtraction.” The other thing that resonates is his clear determination to do what he can to help the nation. A huge thank you to Secretary Wright for joining us today. To start the show, Mike Bradley provided an update on the year-to-date performance for a number of key flavors: the 10-year bond, broader equity markets, energy and power equities, and energy commodities, with an emphasis on the surge in U.S. natural gas prices. A few items were mentioned during the discussion: Secretary Wright's first Secretarial Order is linked here, Jim Ratcliffe's letter on the challenges facing Europe's chemical industry is linked here, and the Bettering Human Lives report is linked here. Today marks Secretary Wright's third appearance on COBT. We previously had the pleasure of hosting him on October 11, 2022 (episode linked here) and September 27, 2023 (episode linked here). As we look back on the past 5 years of COBT, we have had 269 regular Tuesday episodes, 32 Special Edition episodes, and over 320 guests from across the energy sector. For a fun look back from the archives, the first ever episode of COBT from Marc

Shoot outs, red cards and moments of madness – the FA Cup delivers. At old Trafford cup holders Man Utd were dumped out by Fulham and the fans made their feelings clear - the focus of their ire was Sir Jim Ratcliffe. Is his efficiency drive having an adverse effect on the club? On the pitch Amorim persists with a 3:4:3 formation. Millwall goalkeeper Liam Roberts will get a three game ban for a horrendous challenge on Crystal Palace striker Jena-Phillippe Mateta…is that enough? Anthony Gordon saw red and will miss the cup final, is that too harsh? And Matheus Cunha snapped against Bournemouth, does incidents like that put off big clubs from signing him? Finally, as Danny Welbeck scored the winner for Brighton, who is the most universally loved player?
