“It's just the willingness to go where it takes you. And it will always take you somewhere.” This episode is sponsored in part by Urban Cat League, Doobert.com, and Maddie's Fund. In this special episode, the Cat Daddy himself, Jackson Galaxy, returns to the show (CCP Episode 175). Jackson, a New York Times bestselling author, renowned cat behavior and wellness expert, and longtime host of Animal Planet's My Cat from Hell, is also the founder of the Jackson Galaxy Project, a program of Greater Goods Charities. Jackson is accompanied by Steve Kaufman, Vice President of Operations of the GOODS Program at Greater Goods Charities. In their conversation with Stacy, Jackson and Steve discuss Cat Pawsitive 360, an initiative of The Galaxy Project. The initiative, Jackson explains, provides a 360-degree view of the feline experience on everything from behavioral models to environmental enrichment to save more lives and improve the well-being of cats both in and out of the shelter. He explains that understanding cats is essential to form a “rich, rewarding, and lasting relationship”. Finally, Jackson discusses his recent travel and work in Spain and highlights the importance of caring for community cats, stressing that they “are members of your community who deserve love and respect”. Space really is the final frontier. Since Star Trek first crossed TV screens in 1966, we have believed that humanity's destiny lies among the stars. And in the third decade of the third millennium, we are closer to that dream than ever before. Today, after decades of imagining the future, enterprising companies in partnership with governments are putting into place the practical foundations and critical components of a thriving space economy reaching from LEO to cislunar space. This podcast series will bring you the voices of some of these amazing partners on the journey to the final frontier. The third episode features a conversation with Steve Kaufman, Corporate & Finance Partner and Satellite Practice Co-head at Hogan Lovells and Dr. Adrian Guzman, LEO Satellite Constellation Manager at the Mexican Space Agency. A Corporate & Finance partner and Satellite practice co-head, Steve Kaufman uses industry knowledge and versatility to negotiate and close many types of deals globally. For 18 of his 30 years at the firm, Steve served as outside general counsel for satellite clients, leading strategic joint ventures, "bet-the-company" contracts, financings, and M&A. Dr. Adrian Guzman is LEO Satellite Constellation Manager for the Science and Research Coordination ISS National Laboratory at the Mexican Space Agency, a position he has served in for nearly 3 years. Throughout a long career in academia and the industry, Dr. Guzman has served in a variety of consulting and teaching roles, and he still serves today as Associate Data Rockstar for Tableau Software and as a Visiting Professor in the Applied Communication Ph.D. program at Universidad Anáhuac and the Political Science and Communication Studies departments at Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City. He is also a Marshall McLuhan Fellow at the University of Toronto, a position he has held for nearly 25 years.

It's not every day you get to speak with the owner of a 1,000-year-old company, but that's exactly what happened when Emanuela Stucchi Prinetti joined Meet the Maker. Emanuela traces the roots of her company, Badia, as an abbey before being purchased by her family in 1846, and how her family helped pioneer the bottling of extra virgin olive oil. Emanuela also shares other projects and interests Badia currently engages with, while DeMedici executive vice president Steve Kaufman shares his thoughts on the unique relationship between the two companies. More About Badia a Coltibuono: Since 1846 Badia a Coltibuono has belonged to the Stucchi Prinetti family. Six generations have succeeded with passion and respect for its extraordinary legacy. The Stucchi are to be considered pioneers of Chianti, having invested in this land since 1846 when their ancestor, Florentine banker Michele Giuntini bought the beautiful property. Since then the property begun to flourished. Passed along in the 1930's to Maria Luisa Giuntini, she managed and transformed the property until the late 1950's, when her son, Piero Stucchi Prinetti, took charge of the property. He began to bottle the best vintages of the estate's Chianti Classico Riserva, selling them both on the domestic and international markets. He was the first to realize the potential of another traditional product of the region: extra virgin olive oil. Piero's wife, Lorenza dé Medici di Ottajano, author of many book on recipes started in the 1980's a cooking school program. Emanuela, Paolo and Roberto Stucchi Prinetti, brothers are today's owners and managers of the property. Back in 2003, Steve Kaufman was the first partner who Clay brought on to teach the BSSE course with him, and he has subsequently had a tremendous impact on generations of our students. At the end of June, Steve officially retired from the Harvard Business School. As such, we wanted to sit down with him to have him to reflect on his career and time working with Clay, his thoughts on the course and its cases, and his forecast for the future of management education. Hosted by Derek van Bever, the two also discuss a number of Steve's “Kaufmanisms” (for instance, never try to teach a pig to sing; good judgment comes from experience and experience comes from bad judgement; if you can't hide it, feature it; and culture eats strategy for breakfast every morning!), along with his thoughts on the importance of mentorship, disruptive versus sustaining innovations, his favorite BSSE frameworks, whether incumbents have become better at warding off disruption, and so much more. Enjoy this lively conversation - and have a wonderful rest of your summer! The Disruptive Voice will be back in September with more conversations that we hope you'll find inspiring and useful.
