All Parties Are Proven Innocent Until Proven Guilty In A Court Of Law. News Article By Alyssa Williams Published: May. 7, 2023 at 6:23 PM EDT WYMT Mountain News Weekend Edition newscast at 6 p.m. on Sunday. HARLAN COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - The family of Harlan County native Mike Lamb is continuing to search for answers following his disappearance last year. It was March of 2022 when Lamb, 53, vanished from the Evarts community. Lamb's family said he walked outside the home he shared with his brother to go to his neighbor's house, but he never made it there. I mean, he left his phone and his wallet and everything like that, and my brother that is disabled, he also took care of, and he had left him there so I know he hadn't planned on being gone for long,” said Lamb's sister, Chasity Lamb. Once Lamb was declared missing, his family hit the ground running with the search for him. ”We went actually just everywhere. We went to the different places that we thought he could have been,” said Lamb's cousin, Janice Brewer. “We went searching the river banks to make sure he hadn't fell off the side of the road or anything. We searched the ditches. We searched everywhere.” More than one year later, the search for answers continues. ”We urge everybody that if you hear anything at all, no matter how crazy it sounds, to tell one of us or the sheriff's office so we can check into it,” said Lamb's son, Aaron Lamb. “It might sound off the wall and crazy, but it could have some truth to it, and that one little piece of information could very well be what leads us to finding my dad.” Although the family said this search has been difficult, they continue to hold hope that justice will be served for Lamb. “Whatever happened, he didn't deserve it,” said Aaron Lamb. “We know for sure he doesn't deserve to be laying up on the mountain somewhere or something. He deserves to be brought home.” In a statement to WYMT, Harlan County Sheriff Chris Brewer said his department's efforts in the search for Lamb are also continuing. The Mike Lamb case remains open as a missing persons case with foul play involved. There isn't a lot we can comment on due to the case remaining active but the Harlan County Sheriff's Office is still following any and all leads. I spoke with Mr. Lambs family not long after I was sworn in as Sheriff and informed them that we would continue on with the investigation and do everything in our power to bring justice and closure to the family. We are currently following new leads but also revisiting old leads to ensure we are doing everything possible to find Mr. Lamb and the ones responsible for his disappearance. In the meantime, Mr. Lamb's family remains in my prayers because I could not imagine the nightmare they are living. I ask anyone that if you have any information to please do the right thing and contact the Harlan County Sheriff's Office. Chris Brewer, Harlan County Sheriff Lamb's family said they are grateful for Sheriff Brewer's dedication to finding Lamb. They added they plan to host a large search party in the future. #mikelamb #where #walkededaway #kentucky #wymt #Summerwells #murder #coldcase #grizzlyonthehunt #unsolved #police #fbi #forensics #water #shallowgrave #missing #missingperson #kidnapoed #raped #stabbed #tied #body #buried localpolice #news #media #detectives #hotline #tips #sheriffs #deputy#deputies #drugs #narcotics #sex #dumpster #hotel #needle #heroin #prostitution #Xanax #pills #lost @TrueCrime @CrimeNews @CriminalJustice @kentucky @grizzlyonthehunt @HomicideCases @MurderMystery @CrimeSceneInvestigation @ForensicScience @ColdCase @CrimeDocumentary @SerialKiller @JusticeSystem @Criminology @CrimePrevention @LawEnforcement @VictimAdvocacy @CriminalProfiling @PrisonSystem @CrimeStatistics @GangViolence @CrimeAnalysis --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/grizzly-onthehunt/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/grizzly-onthehunt/support

If you have been wondering where the July episode of Uniquely Kentucky has been, do not worry you did not miss a thing. We decided to hit the pause button out of respect to several major tragedies making the headlines in eastern Kentucky in June and July. First the funerals for the deadly ambush on three Floyd Co county officers and a K9 in early July and then the historic and catastrophic flooding that swept across parts of eastern Kentucky in late July. WKYT''s Amber Philpott is someone who holds eastern Kentucky very close to her heart. It's a place that gave Amber her start in television news, it's the place she got her college education and to her the mountains and its people will always have a place in her heart. This past month has been so incredibly hard on so many of our neighbors in eastern Kentucky, they have endured trauma, lost loved ones and watched as everything they worked so very hard for was washed away by the power of mother nature. The flooding turned creeks like Troublesome Creek, normally mild and meandering into raging torrents of water. Over the last month Amber and the WKYT team has spent time on the ground in places like Perry and Breathitt Counties, the devastation and destruction they have witnessed up close is immense, but they have also seen the kindness of strangers, been able to personally hug those who just needed to know someone cared and watched as a resilient region started to pick itself up and lean on others to get by. In this episode we found it only fitting to introduce you to someone that uses his creative passion and soul to bring to life stories through video documenting eastern Kentucky and its people. Justin Skeens is an award-winning digital storyteller, in fact he is the Director of Digital Storytelling at Berea College. Skeens is an eastern Kentucky native, a former WYMT and WKYT videographer and in the last month he has picked up his camera not to document, but help preserve the history and struggles that have unfolded during this chaotic time. His love for Appalachia and everything it stands for is quite evident when you talk with him or watch one of his beautifully crafted pieces. He is a boy from the mountains living out a dream behind the lens using his talents to share with the world a place so many of us hold dear, Appalachia.

As a journalist now for 19 years WKYT's Amber Philpott says there have been stories that have quite frankly just fascinated her. There are stories that when simply mentioned she is compelled to click on our watch to learn the latest in the case or story. One of those stories is that of disgraced eastern Kentucky lawyer Eric C. Conn. The Floyd County attorney managed to pull off the largest social security fraud scheme in U.S. history. Conn's story is one that is almost unbelievable and one that you might think was ripped from the pages of a Hollywood script. Conn's story was recently released as part of a new docuseries, The Big Conn on Apple TV+. For this episode of Uniquely Kentucky host Amber Philpott is talking with former WKYT and WYMT reporter and anchor Tanner Hesterberg. He has worked on this case in his reporter days, but now is back in eastern Kentucky as an attorney and fighting to help some of Conn's clients try and get their benefits back.

Stacie and Billy speak with special guest and long-time friend Tanner Hesterberg! Eastern Kentucky native, former WYMT news anchor, and now recent Cincinnati University Law School Graduate, Tanner talks with us about his successful journalism career and what it means to get to serve the people of Eastern Kentucky through many different facets.
In early May, a woman hiking with friends in the Clifty Wilderness area of eastern Kentucky injured her leg and could not walk. The Wolfe County Search and Rescue team was dispatched to carry her out. She was several miles off the trail. They arrived and gave first aid. Then they placed her on a rescue stretcher. They carried her several miles over rugged terrain. At one point they waded a mile down a creek. It took nearly 33 hours for the rescue team to bring her to safety.* Wow! Talk about bearing a load. Can you imagine being one of a few people carrying another up and down steep hills and through the water and rocks of a stream bed for over a day? That was hard work! You and I would be exhausted! I want you to keep that picture in mind when you hear Ephesians 4:2, which says, "Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love."(NIV) In this verse, being patient is described as “bearing with one another.” The same word can be translated “put up with one another” or “endure one another.” It is the picture of that rescue squad carrying the injured woman. Patience is sometimes very hard work. We may have to put up with irritating people. We may feel exhausted with the effort. But God's Spirit gives us the patience to endure. *TJ Caudill, "One for the record books: Wolfe County Search and Rescue team rescues hiker," WYMT.com, May. 3, 2021, https://www.wymt.com/2021/05/03/one-for-the-record-books-wolfe-county-search-and-rescue-team-rescues-hiker/ Please provide feedback and suggestions at: https://www.sparkingfaith.com/feedback/ Bumper music “Landing Place” performed by Mark July, used under license from Shutterstock.

On this episode of The Critical Hour, Dr. Wilmer Leon is joined by Dr. Jack Rasmus, professor of economics at Saint Mary's College of California and author of "Central Bankers at the End of Their Ropes: Monetary Policy and the Coming Depression." In the latest escalation of a long-running and savagely bitter bilateral dispute that has already bounced from the historical space to the economic, Seoul took a cleaver on Thursday to a military intelligence-sharing pact with Tokyo, shifting the damage into the military space. So, the General Security of Military Information Agreement was up for renewal on Saturday, but Seoul, in a move that had been widely signaled, announced Thursday that it was “terminating” the pact. It was the brainchild of US President Barack Obama's administration, which sought to promote greater defense cooperation between its two Northeast Asian allies. Both shared separate treaties with Washington, but no official ties linked Seoul and Tokyo until GSOMIA went into effect in 2016. It had been renewed yearly since then. How have we gone from the historic to the economic to the military sphere? This has been the summer of crippling ransomware attacks. Wilmer — a town of almost 5,000 people just south of Dallas — is one of 22 cities across Texas that are simultaneously being held hostage for millions of dollars after a sophisticated hacker, perhaps a group of them, infiltrated government computer systems and encrypted their data. More than 40 municipalities have been the victims of cyberattacks this year, from major cities such as Baltimore, Maryland; Albany, New York; and Laredo, Texas; to smaller towns including Lake City, Florida. What's going on here, what's at stake, and is the national government taking appropriate action? The Trump administration is planning to hold migrant families in detention for the entire duration of their immigration proceedings. Acting Homeland Security Secretary Kevin McAleenan says the current standards incentivize illegal entry, which has "caused and fueled" the family crisis at our southern border. Here we go again. Almost every day, or at least every week, there's a new assault on immigrants. The American Civil Liberties Union of Maryland is weighing in on the possible return of a surveillance plane to help spot crime in Baltimore. In a statement, the group says the program is a privacy nightmare come to life, and it's the equivalent of requiring residents to wear GPS trackers whenever they leave home. The ACLU says a city with a terrible history of racism and lack of accountability by police should be the last place a secret program of mass surveillance is used. ACLU Maryland Executive Director Dana Vickers Shelley says surveillance technology designed for a military battlefield has no place in American cities, adding that Baltimore is not a battlefield, and its residents are not the enemy. A group of miners is continuing to block a coal train from leaving a mine in eastern Kentucky in protest of unpaid wages.
