Circuit on May 14, 2026. Argued by Paul Clement (on behalf of the Law Firm Appellees), Abbe Lowell (on behalf of Appellee Mark Zaid), and Abhishek Kambli (on behalf of the federal government).Case Summary, From the Brief of Appellee Perkins Coie LLP:  One year ago, the President did something no other president had done before: issue an executive order declaring a law firm whose clients and representations he dislikes “dishonest and dangerous” and deploying the levers of federal power to try to put the firm out of business. That was a perilous moment for appellee Perkins, the legal profession, and the rule of law. Nine law firms, cowed by the threat of firm-ending sanctions, “settled” with the President. But Perkins, followed by Jenner, WilmerHale, and Susman, sued to defend themselves and their clients. Four different district judges recognized the President's executive orders for what they are: shocking abuses of power that trample the constitutional rights of the law firms and their clients. This Court should recognize the same.The government cannot “use the power of the State to punish or suppress disfavored expression.” Yet here, the President did not hide his intent to punish Perkins for its expression and that of its clients. After threatening to destroy the "whole civilization" of Iran on April 7, 2026, Donald Trump backtracked on grounds that a temporary ceasefire had been reached thanks to negotiations held by Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. On the same day, we learned that the agreement included a "10-point proposal from Iran," which Trump said was a "workable basis on which to negotiate" further peace. Several news outlets reported on these ten points and Trump even posted them in an official statement of Iran on TruthSocial, including the "15-point" proposal from the United States. According to Shehbaz Sharif, "I am pleased to announce that the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America, along with their allies, have agreed to an immediate ceasefire everywhere including Lebanon and elsewhere." On April 8th, 2026, the Jerusalem post reported, "Iran violates ceasefire agreement hours after Trump announced truce." The proof Fox News showed of this involved small lights in the sky claimed to be Iranian missiles breaking the agreement as they fell on Tel Aviv. No context or details were provided. The Times of Israel then reported as quickly as it had been announced "open" that the Straight of Hormuz was being closed "over Israeli strikes in Lebanon." According to the man negotiating the temporary truce, this would constitute a violation of the agreement.Perhaps to save face and once more give more rope to the Israelis to hang the world, the United States claimed, as per CNN, the "two-week ceasefire" was strictly "between the US and Iran." If that was the case then Iran bombing Israel should not violate the agreement. However, Israel's nonstop bombardment of Lebanon, and reportedly Iran too, led to Hormuz being shut down once more and claims the Iranians violated the ceasefire because the agreement was "contingent on the 'COMPLETE, IMMEDIATE, and SAFFE OPENING' of the critical waterway." This is plainly an inversion of the order of events. Vice President Vance also told the press that the agreement did not include Lebanon, which is obviously a contradiction of what Shehbaz Sharif had explicitly stated.As the ten-points from Iran circulated the Internet, and the public noticed they seemed to imply that the US had lost a war, the White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt claimed those points were "fundamentally unserious" and "literally thrown in the garbage," a statement obviously contradicting the President's official statement, which was published on official Executive Office paper. Benjamin Netanyahu told the press that his war objectives had not been met and: "we are ready to resume the fighting at any moment. Our finger is on the trigger." So what was happening here? It appears that as with the fake peace deal in Gaza, broken by the Israelis instantly and blamed on the Arabs and Muslims, the same theater was being offered for public consumption in Iran. And from the shadows again was Jared Kushner acting as a central negotiator. Whatever may be said of Kushner and what he sold to the White House at the behest of Israel and the Mossad, it seems strange he could obtain any details when, according to various confirmed reports, including from the Wall Street Journal on April 7, 2026, "Iran Cuts Off Direct Diplomacy With U.S." The article reported that "it is unclear if direct talks will resume before the deadline," which of course refers to the threat about Iran's "whole civilization" and the Straight of Hormuz being opened - though it was never really closed.Meanwhile, Israel kept dropping bombs, targeting civilians, and providing false information to the White House that got Americans killed. Israel continued to undermine the wealth, perception, reputation, and economy of the United States. Clearly, Israel has no regard whatsoever for its allies or even its own people. Tens of thousands of Jews reside in Iran and call it home, as do large numbers of Christians. Yet no distinction was made by the United States and Israel in their threats to exterminate the Persian civilization, itself not merely a war crime but outright genocide and totally psychotic. The IDF even admitted to striking the Rafi Niya Synagogue, located near Palestine Square in central Tehran. Although the word "damaged" was used to soften the public perception of the destruction, the structure itself was rubble. Siamak Moreh-Sedgh, former Jewish-Iranian MP, summarized our point: "It shows that the Zionistic regime has not any belief in the Jewish principles. And they are not following Moses. He retired in both races. In 1974, he drove for Goldie Hexagon Racing team with a Brabham BT42 and BT44, scoring his first world championship point with a sixth place at Monaco. He scored a total of six points that season. He failed to score points in the following year when he drove for Team Surtees before switching to the American Penske squad. First Formula 1 victory with Penske at Austrian Grand Prix He secured his first podium with the third place at the 1976 French Grand Prix. Later that season came his first victory, driving for Penske in the Austrian Grand Prix. After the race, he shaved off his beard, the result of a bet with the team owner Roger Penske. In 1977 and 1978, Watson raced with Brabham-Alfa Romeo machinery, in the first year for Martini Racing and in the second for Parmalat Racing Team. In 1977, problems with the car, accidents and a disqualification resulted with Watson racing the full distance in only five of the 17 races. In 1978, he reached three podiums and notched up 25 points to earn sixth place in the championship. In McLaren Team since 1979 For the season of 1979, Watson moved to Marlboro McLaren Team. The next two seasons were without any victories, and finally in 1981, at British Grand Prix at Silverstone, Watson secured his second F1 win. It was a maiden victory for the trend-setting carbon fibre composite monocoque McLaren MP4 car, designed by John Barnard, and managed by the team's new boss, Ron Dennis. New monococque saved his life. Later in the season, the strength of the carbon fibre monocoque was demonstrated when John had a fiery crash at Monza during the Italian Grand Prix. He started seventh on the grid and raced for 19 laps. Watson lost control of the car, coming out of the high speed Lesmo bends and crashed backwards into the barriers. The car was halved but Watson walked away unhurt. Similar accidents had previously proven fatal, but Watson was uninjured, and that lucky break proved the strength of the new carbon fiber construction. Third place in the 1982 F1 championship His most successful year was 1982, when he finished third in the drivers' championship, winning two Grands Prix (Zolder and Detroit). Most impressive was his victory at the first ever Detroit Grand, on a tight and twisty track that was difficult to pass through. Watson worked his way from the 17th starting position on the grid and charged through the field scoring a victory. Master-class victory at Long Beach Watson made a similar master-class victory the following year at the final Formula One race in Long Beach (USA). On the street circuit, he started from 22nd on the grid and succeeded to win the race. Watson's final victory also included a fight for the position with his teammate Niki Lauda, who had started the race at the 23rd spot, but Watson ultimately finished 27 seconds ahead of his famous teammate. This mass immigration has also included vastly different cultures than the mostly Europeans we accepted then. War/Peace Europe’s Counter-Plan For Ukraine Peace Leaves Door Wide Open For NATO Admission  Even as the Trump White House is busy in Europe trying to get NATO and EU states on board its 28-point peace plan which controversially demands the Ukrainian side cede territory, the Europeans have leaked their own counter-plan which proposes much less in the way of compromise with Russia. The UK, France, and Germany have put forward their own counter-proposal, and the draft differs sharply from the US version. Like with prior proposed deals, it contains terms which Moscow is expected to flatly reject, mostly notably it does not provide guarantees that Ukraine will stay out of NATO, and also absent is the ceding of any territory. This Day in Legal History: Final Draft of the US Constitution EngrossedOn September 16, 1787, the final draft of the United States Constitution was signed by the Constitutional Convention delegates in Philadelphia. Although the official signing date was September 17, the 16th was the day the finished document was ordered to be engrossed — meaning it was written in its final, formal script on parchment. This step marked the culmination of four months of intense debate, compromise, and drafting by delegates from twelve of the thirteen original states. The Constitution replaced the failing Articles of Confederation and established a stronger federal government with distinct executive, legislative, and judicial branches.Debates on September 16 included last-minute details such as how amendments could be proposed and the extent of federal power over the militia. The delegates had already resolved key issues like the Great Compromise (creating a bicameral legislature), the Electoral College, and the Three-Fifths Compromise regarding the counting of enslaved individuals for representation. Policymakers often justify this inaction with fears about capital mobility, but I question whether we're really more vulnerable to capital flight than Norway is. The deeper issue is political will. Americans have long treated wealth taxation as politically toxic and bureaucratically unworkable, but that may be more a product of narrative than necessity.Norway's voters showed that fairness can be enough to win—even narrowly. But I emphasize that such policies require ongoing public defense; they don't sustain themselves. If we continue dodging the issue in the U.S., we'll be doing so not from a place of strength, but from a place of illusion. However, a subsequent DOJ document release on February 27, 2025, was criticized for lacking substantive revelations, as it primarily listed already known associates of Epstein. Judicial Watch argues that the DOJ's actions violate FOIA and hinder public transparency regarding Epstein's network. The organization seeks a court order compelling the DOJ to conduct thorough searches for responsive records, produce all non-exempt documents, and provide explanations for any withholdings.
