Timothy Zarley has written a wonderful new book, "1901: The War of the Baseball Magnates." (Yelraz Publishing 2024) about the chaotic birth of what we now call baseball's modern era. We talked about some of the franchise movements, contract battles (and lawsuits) with players and the backroom dealings that brought competition to the National League, opened new markets for American's pasttime, and triggered a series of events that led to the first AL/NL World Series in 1903.The episode opens with a tribute to the great Willie Mays and Craig accepts blame for the Aggies' disappointing loss in the College World Series final round. Zarley's interview begins around the 10 minute mark.Timothy Zarley website: https://www.timothyzarley.comErrata: When Mays caught Vic Wertz long fly in the 1954 World Series, Larry Doby was on second base, not third. Doby likely could have scored had he tagged -- but he didn't. Doby only got as far as third base.-->Join our Discord: https://discord.gg/tT8d3pVUsN-->You can support Hooks & Runs by purchasing books, including the books featured in this episode, through our store at Bookshop.org. Kermit Zarley was a professional golfer who had an interest in studying the Bible about the end times when he came across a disturbing verse. Reading Jesus's words in the Olivet Discourse, he noticed that only the Father knew the day and hour of the end. Neither the angels nor the son of God were privy to it. As a good trinitarian evangelical, Zarley was familiar with the dual natures idea, but just couldn't square that with the scripture. If Jesus was God in his being, he knew everything. Why did he say he didn't know the time of the end? Surely, Jesus couldn't be lying! This conundrum set Zarley down a path of research and investigation for many years until he slowly uncovered a different way of understanding Christ. Although he knew going public with his new belief would result in ostracism and rejection, he went ahead with it anyhow. This is his story. My guest today is Broadway veteran and award-winning recording artist Matt Zarley, who released his spectacular musical web series "11 O'Clock Number." The series features a dozen tunes by Broadway composers, all originally sung by women. Over 12 episodes, Zarley weaves those songs in between video testimonials as he copes with isolation during the pandemic lockdown. Each song - spectacularly imagined as a dream concert performance – becomes its own personal catharsis for our hero, Zack (played by Zarley). The result is, at times, touching, humorous, and relatable. Zarley – who can croon a quiet heartbreak or throw down rich, full-throated showstoppers with equal ease – is in peak vocal form. I really enjoyed the full series because…who doesn't love some great music theater songs? This episode is a review of the recently published paperback edition of the book called, The Restitution: Biblical Proof that Jesus is not God, by Kermit Zarley*. What? Biblical proofs that Jesus is NOT God? The average Christian has heard only the biblical proofs that supposedly declare that Jesus IS God. But anyone who thinks that the Bible claims that God is a Trinity, or that the Bible claims that Jesus Christ is God, should read this book. The Restitution: Biblical Proof that Jesus is NOT God is a comprehensive study of biblical Christology. What does the Bible say about who or what Christ (Messiah) is? For some 1700 years Christian churches have answered that question by saying that Jesus is God, or a God-Man. Zarley challenges that answer. He maintains that the biblical view is not “God is Christ”, but “God in Christ”. That is, the One God of the Bible, Yahweh, worked in and through His human Messiah, Jesus, to reveal Himself to mankind (John 1:18, Heb. 1:1), and to reconcile the world to Himself (2 Cor. 5:19). *Kermit Zarley is a retired professional golfer and Christian author. In 1965 he co-founded the PGA Tour Bible Study group which continues to this day. Still Hear Book Series Kermit Zarley pt 2 As everyone who listens to these programs know, I firmly believe we are living in the last of the last days before the return of Jesus to this earth. I can't help but look at the news we see every night on the television and relate it to Bible Prophecy. Our guest today, Kermit Zarley, has had a very interesting past, one that has been blessed by God, for sure. He is an expert on Bible Prophecy and has been studying the Bible for the last 50 years. What has he been doing in that 50 years? Kermit Zarley spent 30 years, full time, on the PGA Tour and afterwards, on the Senior/Champions Tour. In those 30 years, he won 5 tournaments and was runner-up 17 times! He also co-founded and led the PGA Tour Bible Study, which still thrives today, 55 years later. Now retired, Kermit is a “pioneering author of books on biblical studies,” with 9 books published (and his first book, “The Gospel,” was endorsed by non-other than Billy Graham. Praise God)! Kermit is now writing a 12-book series on Bible prophecy entitled, “Still Here,” with four of these books already published. This is part two of a great two part interview! Book Two is “Warrior From Heaven” and it was published in 2009 and is about Jesus, our “warrior King” delivering the nation of Israel at His Second Coming… Book Three is a little more current, published in 2020, titled, “Moses Predicted COVID-19.” Let me ask you, “did Moses predict COVID-19?” Should we be eating Kosher from this point on in an effort to keep ourselves and our families healthy? Book Four is an interesting book, titled, “Bible Predicts Trump Fall” and was published last year in 2022. From what I've read, you were not a “Trump fan” from the start. What did you see in the man that caused you to feel that way? You were writing these things extensively on your blog while Donald Trump was president. So these were not “hindsight” taking events that already occurred and then writing them down. How was your blog being received by fellow believers while this was going on? Can you share some of the Bible scriptures you shared about Donald Trump that applied to him while he was president? This book series is supposed to be a twelve book series. What is the next book in the series titled and when do you believe it will be published? When you see the huge, natural disasters happening, many in places that have not had to deal with things on this level before; and you see the “wars and rumors of wars” going on – mainly between China, Russia, Iran and the United States; inflation and crime out of control; the breakdown of social norms, etc., What is your opinion on what the short term future holds for this nation and for the world? Kermit shares his contact information and a very special offer for YOU (our listeners)! I'll put links to all of this in the show notes below. Folks, as we stated in the beginning, there can be no doubt we are living in the last day. Jesus return is immanent. Things are only going to get worse before they ever get better. Our guest today, Kermit Zarley, has had a very interesting past, one that has been blessed by God, for sure. He is an expert on Bible Prophecy and has been studying the Bible for the last 50 years. Kermit is now writing a 12-book series on Bible prophecy entitled, “Still Here,” with four of these books already published. That is what I would like to focus on today. Help me welcome to the program, Kermit Zarley! Kermit, it is such a blessing to have you on the program today! First question I always start with, other than that brief information I just shared, can you tell us in your own words, “Who is Kermit Zarley?” You were studying the Bible even before you went on tour, correct? How did you manage to write books on theology while managing a full time PGA career? After you wrote “The Gospels Interwoven,” did you realize you would continue to write book? When you co-founded the PGA Tour Bible Study group, did you think it would last as long as it has? I know the rounds start very early in the mornings. Then there is travel between events, etc. When did your Bible Study meet? You hold to the belief of the “historic premillennialist” and thus are a “post-tribulationist.” I can respect that. I hold to the same views, but at the same time, I have to admit, I pray to be taken out via the Rapture BEFORE all the trouble starts. But at the same time, I do believe we are going to be going through some troubling times in the not too distant future. Can you share with our listeners why you hold to the post-tribulation view point rather than the pre-tribulation theory that is popular today? Let's look at this book series, “Still Here.” You began this book series in 2006, with “The Third Day Bible Code.” Can you give us a synopsis of this first book in the series and has your premise changed since you first published the book? Folks, as we stated in the beginning, there can be no doubt we are living in the last day. Jesus return is immanent. Things are only going to get worse before they ever get better. We can see it happening every single night on the news. It should not be a shock to any believer. What will YOU do to prepare? What will YOU do to share the Gospel before it's too late? I recommend you drop down into the show notes and order one, two or more of these excellent books by Kermit Zarley. Amen! Do it right now before...

This episode is a discussion with Kermit Zarley, retired professional golfer, and now author of a number of books, including The Restitution of Jesus Christ (see links below). Formerly a Trinitarian Christian, Zarley briefly describes how he came to understand that the God of the Bible is one, and that Jesus is God’s human Messiah. Then, we discuss the following topics: · Did Jesus pre-exist as a person before he was a human being? · What did Jesus mean when Jesus said that he “came down from heaven” and was “sent from God”? · The use of figures of speech or metaphorical language in the Gospel of John, and the literary theme that many of Jesus’s listeners did not understand the metaphors. · The Christological motif in the Gospel of John is not “Incarnational Christology”, i.e., that God became man or took on human flesh) but “Agency Christology”, i.e., that Jesus is God’s human representative agent, who speaks and acts empowered by God and representing God). · At the end of the discussion, Zarley gives the most important tip for budding, amateur golfers. Should a Christian watch TV? There are many reasons why we should have not allowed TV into our homes. Shall I Pray or Watch TV? examines, from the Christian perspective, the history of television and how it has inhibited our creativity (especially when it comes to finding time or the initiative to pray). This short book is filled with humor as well as with many convicting Bible verses. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/voiceoverwork/message

"I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”
According to recent research, about 3 in 10 Americans are evangelical Christians. But what exactly is an evangelical?
In this show Tim gives you more information about protecting your ideas and specific advice on how to succeed as an entrepreneur and inventor.
In this second conversation, Mr. Kermit Zarley and I discuss a number of themes from his book The Restitution of Jesus Christ, including the evangelical tradition of saying that "Jesus is God" or "Jesus is divine," the biblical phrases "Son of God" and "the Son of God," the texts commonly read as teaching that Jesus existed before his conception in Mary.
Mr. Kermit Zarley is a retired professional golfer and Christian author, having written books on christology and eschatology. In this episode he describes being born again as a teen, his evangelical identity, and his discovery that in the New Testament, Jesus and God are two, namely the human Son of God (Jesus) and the one true God, Yahweh (aka the Father).

Starting with this week's fresh new episode...we're even FRESHER! Instead of taping the show early in the week and waiting until Thursday to release it, we're dropping our new episode just as soon as it comes out of the oven. Fresher content. Quicker release. Dirtier and funnier than ever! This week, Dale & Scott welcome back to the studio Chris Doucette and Zach Toczynski, the two funniest guys they know. As guest hosts (filling in for the still-vacationing Steven J. Walker), Chris & Zach will keep you in stitches with their quick wit and dirty minds. Gotta love that! The guys are the masterminds behind DC's monthly Gaylarious comedy showcase at the Riot Act theater, dontcha know. If you find yourself in your nation's capital on the first Wednesday of each month (save for July & August), you've gotta check out one of the funniest shows around. Also up this week, singer and Broadway vet Matt Zarley returns to the show to talk about his new music video contest and we have his latest single, Trust Me for ya. Matt is so nice and so cute...a cuddly and fun pop singer who works hard for our community, too. The boys also talk about gays in straight strip clubs; Pride celebrations in DC and elsewhere; bath salts and zombies; the Oscars of the fragrance world; Gay Days' dueling airplane banners; actor Luke Macfarlane's penis; Mayor Bloomberg's increasingly imposing nanny state; the Black Spark returns (maybe); JCPenney fights back with gay dads; and, much more gay hilarity. (It ain't PC, people.) Today's show is brought to you in part by Caribbean Heat, a week-long, world-class, all-male gay dance party event held August 31 – September 7, 2012 at the Adonis Gay Beach Resort in Tulum, Riviera Maya in Mexico. Be a part of all the fun. Click the link above for more information and to register for a free 7-night trip! Also, if you'll be at Washington, DC's Capital Pride Festival this Sunday, June 10, stop by the Caribbean Heat booth and check out their scantily clad male models.
Recorded in the brand new Swish Edition studios (the "secret underground studio" no more...the boys are finally outside of Scott's basement, it can now be revealed), this episode features the return of out pop singer MATT ZARLEY to the program. He brings to us his hot new single, "Perfect," as well as a remix of his fun "What The Fuck" track. He tells us about his new record label, his L.A. listening party hosted by Instinct Magazine on November 8, and what's been happening in his life since we last chatted in early June. We love Matt and we think you'll dig his catchy tunes and his love for giving back. Also on this episode, Dale, Scott & Steve break down their weekend, which included the soggy and bone chilling AIDS Walk Washington event, a rather eventful Halloween party, and a trip to Red Lobster. They discuss Kim Kardashian's slap-in-the-face-to-all-gay-people 72 day marriage, doctors' recommending that kids as young as 16 start getting HIV tests, the world welcomes the 7 billionth person (that's a lot of gays!), the scariest movies of all time, old gays have no where to live, and much more. Episode 158 is called, "Underground No More," because it's true. Listen with a friend...naked, of course.
