Episode #41: Real Talk: Going Back To Basics

Play Episode Listen Later May 4, 2022 15:52

Why fix what's not broken? When I first started this podcast it was an outlet to share my story. I had spent nearly 3 years in silence - most of the time dealing with the aftermath of my consequences in my own head. A lot of it was due to the shame of what had transpired and the other part was that there were other people involved and sharing my story would mean that I partially shared theirs too. I figured that the events that took place would eventually fade into the background and I could resume my life and try to get back to some sort of normalcy. But as we've all collectively seen in the last couple of years when we experience a big shift in our day to day - it's difficult to return back to "normal". Getting back to the subject of going back to basics, in the 40 episodes I've produced of this podcast, I can see how I've shifted the conversation away from my life and more into business. If you've listened to earlier episodes I often share that during the most difficult times in my life, I learned and became really good at compartmentalizing. This served me very well, as some of the events that happened would bring me to my knees each time I would dare to take the lid off. As time passed, it seemed best to just keep swimming ahead and not deal with the things I kept closed off. But, as you may already know, what we don't deal with has a way of showing back up in the most unexpected ways and times. Putting our heads in the sand and pretending doesn't do us or those around us any favors. This became more and more apparent in my coaching business as a lot of my clients have dealt with their own setbacks - and were experiencing feeling stuck, overwhelmed, and unable to move past a stage in their business (and thus life) that they've wanted to get past for years. So, it was during the coaching calls that I began to share more details of my own experiences (beyond what I've shared publicly) and in sharing real and raw situations, my clients would experience one big "aha" moment after another...This was a lightbulb moment for me! I realized once again (did I mention I'm a bit stubborn?), that a lot of what we go through in life and business are universal. It may not involve the same situations, but the feelings and emotions that we experience are usually very similar. So, just because my rock bottom was going to prison, going through a divorce, overwhelming guilt of missing a significant part of my daughter's early years, losing friends, jobs, trust, credibility, not to mention feeling shame, embarrassment, and so on (if you're new here you may want to listen to the first few episodes to get caught up :), doesn't mean that we didn't experience and share similar emotions while you were going through your own setback. Guilt is guilt. Shame is shame. Regret is regret...no matter how we arrived at those emotional gates. In all of this, here's one thing I've learned about myself (and those I'm lucky enough to work with) is that I/we are RESILIENT. And so, this brings me back to the podcast and that although I want to talk about business (cause I'm just so damn passionate about what I get to do), I also want to share more about my experiences so that even if you're not a client of mine, that maybe just maybe, you'll also experience your own "aha" moments and it will help you in some way too! Here's what one new listener sent me after recently finding my podcast: "....I am deeply touched by your story and thank you for sharing such intimate details. What you went through was really not for you, it was for us. Your testimony has healed me more than any doctor's prescription could have."... So while this podcast isn't broken, I know in my heart that going back to why I started it is important, not necessarily for me but for those that I know, it will help. So get ready for more stories that need to be shared! xx Cat

This day (10/10) exactly 8 years ago was the end of one significant time of my life and the beginning of another. I'm reflecting on what's happened since that time and I'm encouraged to celebrate where I am today and where I'm headed. Time stands still for no one is a reminder for you (and myself) that whatever you do with your time is your choice - we can spend it resentful or angry or full of regret or we can choose to look back in awe of where where and what we've been thru and what lies ahead. As I witness what's happening around the globe and right here in my own little corner of the world - I'm realizing more and more that time is promised to no one. And if I want to do the things I say I do and experience the things I want and have the all the things I desire - it's up to me how I spend my time to make it happen. So, if you're in a similar spot - give yourself some grace and then get moving in the direction you want your life to go. Hello friends! It's been a while since we were both here! This episode I'm talking to those of you out there who are on the fence about starting your own podcast and why I say "JUST DO IT!" Whether you think you don't have what it takes (you do!), that everything will be perfect (it won't) or that no one will ever listen to you (they will...I promise). You have nothing to lose here...and everything to gain.  I belong to several podcast groups and a lot of the questions in those groups are all about the fears! Fear of being judged, of not having the right equipment, the right voice or even qualified to run a podcast - my answer to all of that is "who cares!". Here's the deal, everyone will have their own opinion - and that's their prerogative. Let them have it - it shouldn't effect what you do with your own business/life.  So, if you've been on the fence and need a little encouragement - this episode is for you! Or if you've been on the fence about doing something other than podcasting - maybe writing a book, leaving a job you hate, leaving a relationship that's not good for you, moving to a different place...or maybe you're wanting to start a business of your own - this episode is for you too! Because taking scary action applies to all of it!  Of course it's scary - because it' s new. But how many new experiences have you overcome in the past and you're still here today to talk about it! Do it love - with grit and with grace! See in you in the episode! xoxo Cat Rate, Review, & Subscribe on Apple Podcast! “I love Cat and how she just puts it all out there!”

Checking in to make sure that you are all doing okay and doing what's best for you, your family and your business. I know that its been a while since I've uploaded an episode. But just like everyone else around the world - we've all had to pause and re-calibrate these past few months. I want to always be intentional with the things that I put out in the world and I want to always be a source of value to my audience. I've felt a heaviness in these past few months and needed some time to as I said before, pause and reflect. I think that we're all doing a little (or a lot) of that lately. Our day to day lives have been upended and our what was once our normal is no longer that. But I'm hopeful that throughout this ordeal, we can all come out on the other side, enlightened, changed and better than where we were before. It's going to of course take time to get to that place, so give be kind to yourself and others. This pandemic, social unrest and economic turmoil happening all at once is unprecedented. There is not one person out there that has gone through all three all at the same time - so allow yourself some room to unpack all that's happening. Don't think that you have to have all your sh!t together all the time - because none of us do. Be mindful of where your thoughts go - as the title of this episode says, 'Watch the road, not the potholes'. Focusing solely on the potholes will only lead you to more potholes - look out at the vast landscape ahead of you. Focus your thoughts and energy on what is possible. Find the good in your situation even if it's faint. I promise to upload more episodes - but I too am being mindful of what I put out into the world. Be safe, stay healthy, be kind to yourself and others and please wear a mask. xo Cat

Episode #36 10 Easy and Practical Tips to Survive Self-Isolation

Well, this is a whole new world and no, not the Ariel kind in Little Mermaid either. It's a lot scarier than Ursula could ever be. That said, there's also a lot to be hopeful and grateful for. One thing is if you're reading this and/or listening to me then you're alive and hopefully well. So that is a great place to start from...the rest is a little bit more complicated to say the least. A month ago the entire world looked totally different from what it is now. As you well know life has almost instantaneously stopped for a huge part of the global population. We've all had to press the pause button in our lives and businesses. If there was a time that we wished we could work from home (to avoid that darn commute) or that we would stop saying "yes" to everything that we're invited too and spend time at home - we may be wishing for the opposite right about now. To a lot of people being ordered to stay at home can be really difficult...and I get it. It's different when you have the choice to stay in and not want to see other people. It's a totally another thing to be ordered to stay home. It's in our nature to want something we can't have - and right now, what we can't have is the freedom to move about this world in the way we want and choose to. But here we are, in the middle of this pandemic and we know that staying home is what we must do to not only protect ourselves and our family, but also other people in our community. But it does't make staying home any easier. Having had some personal experience in this space, I wanted to offer my tips on how to survive self-isolation. The tips I'm giving will seem like no-brainers, but you would be surprised that many skip doing them because of that exact reason. These are the steps I personally took to get through 18 months of self-isolation and I know they can work for you too - if you apply them on a daily basis. And if by chance you fall off the wagon and binge watch a few days of Netflix - it's okay, just get back on again. We're just trying to figure this out as we go. Everything that we are experiencing individually and as a human race is new to all of us, no one knows exactly what's going to happen - the experts may have more information to go on than we do, and even they are giving it their best guess. So take comfort that we're all in this together and the only way out is through. We will see each other on the other side of our new normal and we will be more resilient than ever. In the episode I mentioned that it's important for you to reach out to your community of friends, family and/or colleagues, but if they are not available to you, then call the numbers below to speak to someone that's here to help and lend an ear. We all need each other more than ever before right now. It seems that we've barely scratched the surface of 2020 and already so many things around us are changing the way in which we look at life...don't you agree? From the unexpected passing of people I know and those whom I've admired from a far, to the current world situation of the latest virus taking this globe by storm - it seems that change is always upon us. How we react to these situations will set the course of our path. For me there's one moment in my life that's changed who I am and where I'm going and every year at this time - I'm reminded of that moment. I can look back now and connect the dots, but I can tell you that it's taken a lot of time and self reflecting to get there. But I believe we all go through those defining moments - where one moment changes everything. For some of us, we have several of those moments, for others one is all they need. In this episode I'm sharing the exact moment that life changed for me and how I've looked back at that moment years later - knowing that in that instant my life was never going to be the same. I can't wait for you to tune in and also if you're curious about the photo I talk about in this episode - you can find it on Instagram, so be sure to follow here! See you inside :) xoxo Cat

...But if you try sometimes, you find, you get what you need ~ The Rolling Stones There is so much truth to that verse, don't you think? Hindsight is always 20/20 of course. So many things in my life that I thought I wanted but didn't get - and it was all for the better. Even though at the time it was heartbreaking to comprehend, looking back so much of what I thought I wanted would have led me to different outcomes that weren't necessarily what I needed (the enjoyment of having that thing would have probably been short lived) . The inspiration for this episode is actually a movie that I watched a month or so ago called "A Marriage Story". The story of a couple with a child who have found themselves on the verge of ending their marriage and all the intricacies that's involved with that decision - especially when an innocent child is involved. It spoke to me on so many levels - of course due to my own experience with this exact same situation. Even if the stories are different and these are fictional characters, I can imagine that a lot of people can probably see themselves in these characters. I'm grateful with the path that my daughter's dad and I ended up choosing for our unique situation. I realize that not everyone is as fortunate as we were - in that we were both on the same page and we're both willing to truly set aside our differences to focus solely on our daughter. This movie shows the ins/outs of such a trying time during the ending of a relationship. Not just the heartbreak of walking away from someone you once loved - which is so difficult. But also, how to find your own footing again, how to regain your independence and how to find your place in the world - without your partner. I can't recommend this film enough and you don't need to be in a marriage or relationship to enjoy it either...but it certainly hits home even more if you are. Life is always working out in our favor. I have to remind myself of this fact at times - especially when I want something so badly and it doesn't up the way I thought I wanted it. In the end, I have to remember that I always get what I need out of it . I'll see you inside the episode! xx Cat

This episode is inspired by an unfortunate tragic event here in Los Angeles, CA but undoubtedly was felt around the world. That tragedy is of course the untimely death of the bigger than life Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna and the seven other precious lives lost that day. This news hit like a ton of bricks and as the day unfolded I couldn't tear myself away from my phone. Half not wanting to believe and the other half wanting to know how this could have happened. As the days have passed by I have read and watched so many millions of people share their own Kobe story of how he had touched and inspired them with his greatness, his tenacity, his drive, his focus, his pursuit of being the best he could be, his kindness, his generosity and his genuineness. There's no doubt that he was a legend not just in the sporting world, buy beyond and he will be greatly missed. As shock and disbelief has turned into sadness and anguish, I know that time will continue ticking - as I've said before, time stops for no one - not even someone who has inspired millions of people around the world. Of those that knew him well the one sentiment that I've heard being repeated over and over is "I wish I had spoken to him just one last time..." But that is how we are designed - we always think that there's going to be tomorrow so we put off the things that we should be doing today. Kobe's tragic death along with the 8 others reminds us that time is not guaranteed - not even to someone the world sees as unbreakable and unsinkable. We have watched Kobe take the clutch shot time and time again, we've seen him play through injuries that would put nearly anyone in the ER, he has worked 100x harder than those who aren't as talented as he was, he's made mistakes and made bad choices with huge consequences and he's persevered, his accomplishments are massive and awe inspiring, he's played through criticism, judgement and intense pain. He had so much more to give the world - so much more to contribute - but from all that I've read about him was....he didn't waste a day. He didn't put off tomorrow what he could do today. And although we will never see the silver lining with all the lives lost - I hope that what we can take away is we must go after the life we want with the same tenacity and drive that Kobe did. We must not waste time overthinking the process and JUST DO IT. That we never put off what can be and should be done today for tomorrow...because it's never promised. Happy Happy New Years my fellow BADASSES! Thank you for being here. I hope that you had the most amazing holiday spent with your loved ones, doing the things that excite you and bring you joy! And that's what this episode is all about...figuring out what brings you joy and executing on it to really get super clear on what you want! But it's not always that easy, right? First we need to do some inner work (btw just in case you've yet figured it out - it's always about inner work ;). We spend so much of our time trying to find the solution to our problems and fix what seems to be broken - by searching for it outside of us. Whether that's through burying ourselves in our work, giving to everyone around you other than yourself, scrolling...scrolling...scrolling until your fingers are numb, shopping for anything and everything or trying to fill every second of our lives with things to do - so that we don't actually have to spend alone time with ourselves. Those are some of the sneaky ways we avoid going inward. But in this episode I'm going to 'force' you to do just that! The only way to figure out what you want is to know where you're at. And the only way to do that is to ask some tough questions and for you to be truly open and honest with yourself. Now, I've done these assessments before and honestly, I've lied to myself about where I was at because it was just too difficult to face my truth. But doing so was a disservice to myself, because the only person that loses out is me. So, I hope that when you go through the 3 things I'm going to ask you to do - that you are open and honest with yourself and not allow your own self judgement get in the way of getting real clarity on what it is that ignites you from the inside. Wishing you the most amazing start to this brand new year! I hope this episode inspires you to get super clear on what it is you want and take the next steps to create that life! So, we've all been there - no one is immune to the chaos that sometimes lands in our laps. Because we all have free will - someone else's chaos can and will definitely slam into us, in the most unexpected ways at times. So knowing that we can't control anyone else but ourselves - how do we get ourselves out of the rabbit hole? In this episode, I go back a little ways in my story and talk about the times that I was definitely in my own version of hell. It may be many people's version of hell too - but hopefully no one went through it in the way that I did. So my hell was prison of course (if this is the first time you're hearing or reading about this - then I suggest listening to the first few episodes to get caught up :). So, there I was in my own literal prison and I had to figure out how to continue to function knowing that there was nothing I could do to change my fate. Without knowing what I was doing - I started to find the answers internally. That's also the place I found strength and had faith that I would be okay, despite what I was having to deal with in the outside. My journey to my own 'bounce back' was filled with a lot of trial and error but in the end, I realized how resilient we all really are and that we all have the power inside of us. I also explain how we find ourselves experiencing the same thing over and over again - and how the mechanics (or actually the energy field) of our brain and heart can work against us or for us. I can't wait for you to listen in on this episode and apply the tools I've provided for you to implement when you find yourself in a funk that you can't get out of. And also reveal a little bit more about my journey to where l am today... See you inside...xoxo, Cat

When the first thing you do in the morning is bombard your mind with the latest world news cycle, your to do list,  your favorite social media app or your email inbox - you fill your mind with exhaustion and stress the very second you wake up. Having even just 5-10 minutes of silence time to yourself can help set the tone for your day. Whether you spend your time in silence during meditation, writing in your journal, thinking about the things you're grateful or setting an intention for your day - you can do all of those things within that time period or just one of them. All you're doing is raising your vibration so that energy is you put out in the universe in the morning attracts more in the same throughout your day. This helps you work through stressful situations and handle all the little things that come up that may take you off your game.  Also inside the episode I'm going to walk you through how to set intentions for the day and how to not confuse setting intentions with your to-do list. Episode #28 How Can You Use Quantum Physics to Manifest Your Desires

Play Episode Listen Later Oct 8, 2019 36:29

So what does quantum physics have to do with manifestation....well as it turns out everything! Yes, you read that right - everything! Quantum physics (also referred to as Quantum Mechanics and the Quantum Theory) plays a fundamental role in explaining how the world works. Quantum physics govern the behavior of all physical systems, regardless of size. Since everything in this world is energy - including our physical bodies and our thoughts - we are part of the quantum theory! In the quantum field there exist endless possibilities of different realms of reality/desires that we could ever hope for. Our job is to match our energy vibration with that of the vibration of our desires and we will attract that which we want into our physical reality. I know that seems so simplified that it seems unbelievable that it really is that simple and the answer is yes, it really is that easy. The difficult part is that we are limited in our physical reality to change and increase our vibration because we don't have the ability to quantum leap into a new reality that we so desire! But we do have one tool that we can use to our advantage that will allow us to change our frequency dial and turn it up to match our desires...and its something that we have access to all the time! We just have to get used to using it! So head in to the episode to find out about this "tool" that is at your disposal to be able to manifest your desires into your physical reality in quantum speed! For those that have been listening to me for a while or follow me on social media - you know how passionate I am about quantum physics and how we can use it to create our own amazing reality. I've taken courses, studied peer reviewed scientific research, read dozens upon dozens of books, sat through hours upon ours of videos and have collected dozens of notebooks of notes on this subject - and still there is so much to learn. When I decided to embark on this subject it was just for myself - because this subject intrigued me and I wanted to know as much as I possibly could about it - but as I started to dig deeper and deeper and writing about what I was learning - I realized that I wasn't the only one that was intrigued about it. Now after years of doing my own research and applying bits in pieces in my coaching and on my self - I've decided that there was enough interest in this subject (and I've done enough research and implementing in my life and those I coach with great success) that it was time to create a program about it! I so excited to finally launch this program - "Quantum Manifesting - The Science Behind Manifestation"....It's packed full of what I've learned and tested in the last several years from the findings and research of physicist, biologist, neouroscientist, theorist and those that study epigenetics, neuroplasticity and quantum theories. But I've put it together in terms that don't require you to have a PhD in physics that understand! I'm so excited about this program that I'm beaming with gratitude that all of this information is out there for us to better understand the universe that we live in and more importantly that we have the ability to use these tools to create a better life for ourselves and for those around us! So, please check out the links below to see the details of what's in this incredible program and to get in at the pre-launch pricing! You don't want to miss out on the bonuses as well as they go away after the pre-launch sale ends! After you go to the link and sign up - come back to the episode so you can start applying the first step into quantum manifesting BEFORE the program begins at the end of the month! Ever feel like you're stuck? Like you don't have the ability or know how to move from where you're at in life, business, relationship or career to get to the other side? Well, I have great news for you - we've all been there (so don't feel alone in this) and even better news - youhave the ability to get yourself unstuck! Life sometimes just happens - one day we wake up and find ourselves in a life that seems like we can't wake up from. Like all we're doing is pushing the play button and the rest of the day plays out like all the others - and maybe every once in a while we get to experience something different or new - when we're on vacation or maybe when we can escape from our normal day to day. But is that really a way to live? Do we want to look at your life as something you want to escape from a few times out of the year? But the reality is a lot of people live that life or have lived that life - me included and maybe you find yourself in that same category at the moment too. Here's the thing - the only difference between where you're at compared to others who are living the life that they've always dreamed of, is that they made a choice to take action. They stopped living in the dream and decided to make that dream a reality. And you may think that maybe it's because they have connections or all the resources in the world or whatever you think people have to create the life of their dreams...but here's the truth - the majority of the people that are actually living that life that you so desire - faced their fears and took a leap anyways. That is the difference between the dreamers and those actually living that dream life - it's not that they don't have the same fears, it's that they jumped despite having those fears - because the worse that can happen is that they fail which means they will likely get back up again and try again and again, until they get it right. But if you allow your fears to keep you stuck and unable to take any action, then yes - you will likely wake up one day feeling like you're inside the movie "Groundhog Day" - doing all the same things, talking to the same people about the same subjects, going the same places, eating the same food - experiencing the same thing - with the only difference is that it's a different day, a different year, a different decade. If you're done living the same life like you had last year and the year before that and you have dreams living inside your head of maybe someday - but not today - I want you to listen to this podcast and implement the very simple strategies I talk about TODAY - not tomorrow or the over the weekend or next week or over the holidays or January 2020 - I want you to take action TODAY! Honestly, tomorrow can look so much different if you start to take action today towards the life that you want. Whatever you're dreaming of - whether that's one segment of your life/business or a complete overhaul of everything - start with taking the leap today - even if it's something small. Reverse engineer your goals and break them up in small bite size pieces and I guarantee you that you WILL get there - but it's UP TO YOU! It starts and ends with you. No one is coming save you...sorry to break that to you! You have to save yourself...your dreams are yours alone - no one will nor should they do the work for you! If you find yourself needing to talk to someone about helping you in areas where you feel stuck and need some guidance or accountability - then I invite you to get on my calendar so we can talk. Whether that means possibly working together or that I simply help steer you into the right direction - it's you taking ACTION towards the life that you desire! There's a reason why time and time again I go back to these same 3 strategies when I work with my clients (and my own) business. These are the the core fundamentals to creating a successful and sustainable business - you can have the best strategies and systems in place but if any of these are not dialed in or not aligned with who you are as an entrepreneur then your success will be short-lived. I'm sure you've seen other business owners come and go and they may be hot at the moment - selling whatever services or products they may be selling at that hot minute - using sales tactics that may not seem transparent, lack integrity or it may come off as icky...and you may wonder how is this person making all this money? Well,  I'm going to go out on a limb and say that that person probably won't be in business long or they constantly change industries - so people don't catch on that they're a one hit wonder or jumping from one fad to the next. If you wan't to create an impact and really change the lives of your clients then you're going to need to implement some core strategies into your business - so you can create the kind of transformation you want to create in other peoples lives and in your own life and business. Because let's be honest here - you're not starting a business to stay broke or to just make enough - you started a business to also create a better life for you and your family - while also creating a better business and life for your future clients.  So, although what I mention in the episode seem simple and something I know you've likely heard before - they have been repeated over and over again because they actually work and without them your business will suffer - you will always feel like you're behind the ball and playing catch up or trying the next "new thing" in the market that will likely not work (yet again). After you conquer these 3 basic strategies - then yes, having or creating a system or a way to funnel in the right clients is essential to your success. One key thing to understand, I start out with the most important part of the 3 steps - but ultimately you're going to reverse engineer the process and start with the end in mind.  By working backwards - it allows you a place to start with versus starting to create something without knowing what it is that you actually want to create. I hope that you always keep these key foundation as your guide to growing your business and if you need additional help or accountability then I invite you to send me an email and let's get on a call to see how I can help you!  See you inside! You may or may not geek out when it comes to manifestation and loa (law of attraction) but I do! I geek out even more when I talk about quantum physics and quantum reality. When I first started down this path - everything I read definitely sounded like gibberish. I would literally read the same sentence or paragraph at least 5x and still wouldn't understand what I was reading. At the time because I had limited resources (ie it's not like we were equipped with a computer or smart phones while in prison) there wasn't much I could do but try to get through what I was reading and take some very confusing notes. But when I came home I decided to dive in and see what this fascinating world was all about - this time armed with google and also videos that explained things in a way that my brain head could understand. In this episode I breakdown what the quantum field/physics is about and how you can use it to create the life and reality you want and desire. If you walk away with only one thing from this episode - I hope it’s the understanding that the quantum field/physics is a study in energy and the magnitude of energy frequency a matter represents - and that we and everything we see (from cars, money, animals to buildings) are created from atom and therefore we are all energy vibrating at different frequencies. Once you can wrap your head around that concept the rest of what I explain should make sense...and if not, and you want to hear more about it then send me an email and I would love to explain it to you in a way that makes sense to you. Understanding that we attract the energy vibration that we emit out - is essential to understanding how you can leverage your thoughts to create your dream life. I hope you enjoy the episode as much as I enjoyed making it for you.  See you inside the episode....xx Cat

Now, their are of course different types of fears - some fears do require professional assistance from a physician or psychiatrist - and there's also actual physical fear for your safety - where your flight or fight mode kicks in and you listen intuitively to your gut for how to proceed next. The fear I'm talking about today are the kind that stops you from asking for a promotion or increase in pay, the kind that keeps you from creating the business you're meant to build and thrive in, the kind of fear that has you staying in the lack-luster relationship or from going after the kind of relationship you know you so deserve. The kind of fear I'm talking about are the ones that creep up when you want to go "all in" but feel a tug to "play it safe" - the fear that says you're not good enough, smart enough, tall enough, short enough, experienced enough to do whatever the heck it is that makes your heart sing and your soul sour! The type of fear that keeps you stuck on the perpetual wheel of your so-called mediocre life - while you're seeing people all around you taking the same leaps you've been wanting to make for months or years! But what if I told you that you can use fear to fuel you to take action? What if I told you that you can use fear to create the life you really want - that you can turn fear around and use the power you've given it to help you instead of hinder you? Well my friend - today is your lucky day because today in the episode I'm going to give 4 easy and practical ways you can use fear to help you do the things you've ever wanted to do. But...you have to face fear head on first...and that's exactly what I'll share with you today!! Let's face our fears together (because I'm not immune to them!!) and take the leap! See you inside...xx Cat

How To Take The Leap Into The Unknown, Even When You're Batsh*t Scared!

Well that title pretty much says it all, am I right? Usually when we're on the cusp of something that's groundbreaking or we just have a strong feeling that making a big change or taking the risk is going to change our life - our monkey mind takes over. We then spend time in our heads (that be me!) and overthink the process,  create our pros and cons list, waiver between yes - no to maybe - possibly....back to "I don't know". Only to decided to do one last research, one last check to see if we're going to land safely on the other side and before we know it we've talked ourselves out of the LEAP. And in doing so we tell our subconscious that we're not the type of person that takes those kinds of risks. The more we repeat this pattern - time and time again -  the more we ingrain in our subconscious that we're not the leaping kind of folk. We're the stay in our safe zone kind. Even when something incredible is literally standing in front of us - that requires us to take even the smallest of jumps (we're not even talking about a leap here) - we won't do it. Because we've trained ourselves (created the belief - therefore the habit) that we leap ONLY when we know with 1000% certainty that we're going to land safely on the other side.  Well, I hate to break it to you again love, that's never going to happen....so therefore you're never going to leap. So that life that you've always wanted, dreamed of, envisioned, lost sleep on, thought about since you can remember will be just that...a dream. Because nothing exciting ever happens in your comfort zone. Your wildest dreams will not be found in the confines of your sofa or hiding behind a laptop #sorrynotsorry. This life of ours is meant to be lived, not to be overthought and over calculated. You're not going to land safely every time you leap - but you will (if you allow it) be able to learn what to do the next time you do it. And I will tell you that the more you leap into the unknown - the more you tell your subconscious that you call the shots here and that you're no longer going to be living on autopilot - being guided by old beliefs and fears of what the future can look like for you.  So, if you're ready to leap in to the next phase - then I'll see you inside the episode as I explain The Top 4 Steps To Take Before You Leap Into The Unknown. They are simple (aren't they always?) but super helpful in helping you create the life that you're deserving of and are worthy of. And you my dear are absolutely capable of creating it!   Here's to your continued journey into becoming who you're meant to be and living the life you're meant to live! xx ~ Cat

Oh self doubt...why must you be so persistent in your quest to hold so many from moving forward and claiming what's rightfully theirs (myself included mind you). If you've ever found yourself not raising your hand in a meeting, not taking the leap of faith, not dreaming big or big enough, or stuck in the maybe one day mode (forever!), or waiting for the right time, or day, or night, or person, or circumstances...or well you kinda get where I'm going here, right? "Self doubt kills more dreams than failure." - wise words from Karim Seddiki It's wise because it's true! So many feel stuck in the same place for years or even decades waiting for the right opportunity or learning but never doing and guess what...what's standing in their way is DOUBT! Doubting your capabilities and your potential (or worse yet your dreams) starts with a thought, then it becomes your beliefs, which then forms your habit and thus your actions. And then guess what? You're on the train to nowhere fast - and this train doesn't actually ever leave the platform. You just keep boarding the same train (sit down - maybe read a book - get more research done - maybe you'll talk to someone on the train about all your dreams and what you're meant to do and what you feel you're called to do and the life you want to lead) and then right before the train is about to leave the platform - you decide that you're not ready and you're uncertain that this train is for you (maybe the next train will be better) so you hop off - and get back on the platform and wait for the next train. And the cycle continues. Hopping on and hopping off the train of life but never actually going anywhere. Does that sound familiar? I know it did to me once in my life...I know what it's like to hop on and off that train and then later wonder why success hadn't found me yet :) hmmm....I wonder why? lol This week we are dissecting what it looks like when self doubt shows up in your life. I talk very openly and candidly about my first BIG mistakes as an entrepreneur and how that experience kept me from ever leaving the platform. I hope that you can take away some nuggets of value from my experience and if you're experiencing some self doubt in your business and in life - that you take my advice on how to get off the merry-go-round of self doubt and start kicking some a$$ in your life and business and start crushing your goals!! Don't you love a good story? I know I do. It's why we can get lost in a great book or movie for hours at a time - never once wanting to check our phones! And you know how addicted we are to our phones, right? The most successful companies know how to incorporate storytelling into their brand, so it connects deeply with their target audience. They know that telling a story that bonds with their customers will keep them loyal to their brand and also capture new customers that resonates with the narrative they are trying to convey. These companies spend millions upon millions of dollars to hire advertising firms who help them tell their story through advertising. That said, you don't need to hire a big name advertising firm (at least not yet :) to do the same for your business. The business of storytelling has been around since companies realized that they needed to find a way to better differentiate themselves without slamming their competitors (basically what's happens in the political world called "mudslinging" - but that's a whole other topic!!) - because that's just not good business sense and doesn't actually convey why you're business is different. In this digital day and age - your brand becomes your story and your story becomes your brand. If you're not able to clearly articulate your story through your content - unfortunately you will get lost in the shuffle of the thousands upon thousands of brands that have a business similar to yours. Just like you are unique - so is the story of your business. Maybe you created your business because you found a gap in your niche and decided to create what you felt was missing (your story - you found a way to create a product or service that fills that gap), maybe you found a better way to provide a service due to your experience working in that industry (your story - is the experience you had in that business and finding a different way for customers to have a better experience), maybe (like me) you created your business because of your story (our story - is how to thrive despite and because of our past and we show others how to do the same). There are thousands of coaches out there and what differentiates my business from them, is my story. It's unique to me. It's unique to my journey. It's unique to my experience. It's unique to how I approach coaching. It's unique in how I get my clients results. My story about strength, resilience, empowerment and vulnerability is different than the next person and I convey that through my storytelling. Infusing my story in my business has been instrumental to my growth and expansion. It's provided my business with clarity and a vision of what the future looks like. I hope that you find I hope you find this episode helpful in your business and you either continue telling your story or that you start sharing your brand story with your audience Do you know what your brand story is? Can you clearly and effectively convey it to your audience? At the end of this episode I share with you an opportunity to be part of a beta program I've created focused on Storytelling for your Business. If you're not sure how to clearly articulate your story into your business, I invite you to take part on my beta program starting in August 2019 - in this program, we dive into your story from beginning to (it's current) end and create a concise and succinct narrative to tie your story with your brand. I've chosen to keep this beta group small - to ensure that everyone involved receives ample time to fully immerse themselves into their brand story. So, if you are interested, please send me an email at cat@catcoley.com and we can start the selection process! Thanks for continuing to listen - I appreciate your love and support! xx - Cat

Episode #17 How to Make Money Work For You Instead of Against You

Play Episode Listen Later Jul 16, 2019 48:36

There's a song by a 70's group The O'Jay's called "For The Love of Money"...its' a popular song that's in countless of ads and movies and it talks all about MONEY of course - but if one were to actually read the lyrics (hint: click on the link to read the lyrics :) to that song - oh my geez - it's cringe-worthy, especially in this day and age! I mean talk about having a negative view about money! There's another famous song by (yet another) 70's group, ABBA aptly titled "Money Money Money" it's found on the soundtrack of the famous musical, Mama Mia (btw...what the heck 70's?!? why all the negative vibes about money?!?) and it's even worse than the first song! Seriously...one of the lines of the ABBA song actually says..."in my dreams I have plan, if I got me a wealthy man, I wouldn't have to work at all, I'd fool around and have a ball...money money money, must be funny in rich man's world...." *gulp! Why am I talking about these famous 70's songs that several generations have listened to and possibly imprinted into their subconscious? Because how we view, think and talk about money is crucial to how easily or difficult money comes into our lives. In the first song (and I didn't even know this until I actually read the lyrics - although hummed along to this song for ages)...they actually say "I know that money is the root of all evil..." wow imagine an impressionable little kid already walking around at that time not having the best views about money and then listening to a song that affirms what they believe to be true? Well, we don't need song lyrics for us to manifest some pretty terrible things about money these days - we need only look to the things we learned as kids from our parents, family and close friends. In this episode, I explain what money blocks and money stories really mean and how you can begin to identify them in your own life. I talk about the top 3 money blocks that I've come across from my clients (and from myself) and I give you steps in how to rewrite your own money story to allow for a more positive flow of money into your life and business. I also explain how to use money as a tool instead of putting it on a pedestal and giving up all of your power and control to an innate object. This episode isn't to convince you that we don't need money or that it's not important in the world that we live in now...because the truth is that money is in everything we want and in everything we do. It is important because it allows us the ability to fund our adventures, donate to the causes we believe in, provide for our family and help our clients. That said we need to have a better understanding of our personal relationship with money and this starts by figuring out what stories we tell ourselves about it. For some (dat be me!), conversations about money is still a tough subject! My own skewed beliefs about money ran incredibly deep, changing my perception about money is a work in progress. But it's been a necessary and cathartic journey that's turned my world around! I hope this episode helps you sort through your own stories and take action towards clearing out your old beliefs. In turn, switching out your old limiting thoughts for new ones, that will soon manifest into more abundance in your life + business! xx - Cat

This week I feel compelled about talking about relationships and not just romantic but also friendships and business relationships. I probably have about 100 life lessons and advice about relationships (as I'm sure you do too) but I believe that these 3 core advice can be applied to all types of relationships. These are lessons that I learned (or continuing to learn) about and the reason why I'm passionate about talking about them. People come into our lives for different reasons - and we need to embrace the reasons why they are here and also be able to let them go when it's time. The letting go part is usually really hard for us to actually do - whether we're hanging on for the wrong reasons or that we can't admit defeat and realize that the person no longer fits in our life. Hopefully you can take a few of the tidbits and use them in your life or put them in your back pocket for a later time - if you ever find yourself where you're contemplating your next move. Relationships are difficult - there's a lot of grey area - and we sometimes over complicate the situation by not realizing some components that signal when it's time to go or when it's time to give it another try. I would love for you to share your relationship takeaways - either leave a comment here or follow me on Instagram and leave a comment there (IG: catcoleycoach) I am always wanting to learn and who better from than all of you! Here's to creating a happy and supporting relationships in all areas of your life....see you in the episode! xx cat

Ahh Manifestation and Law of Attraction...why is this a topic I continue to talk about you wonder? Well, just as The Law of Gravity exists without us questioning or thinking about it - as does The Law Of Attraction. Whether you believe in this governing law or not - it exists. Your current reality is a manifestation of your past thoughts. Manifestation are the thoughts you think about day in - day out (also known as your beliefs/mindsets) that you play over and over in your subconscious mind - which in turn create your current reality. I go back to this often because for most of my life I was unaware that I created my own reality - I just assumed that life was just happening to me. That I had no control and that I had no other choice but to role with the punches. Realizing that I actually had more power to create my life the way I want to create it has been a game changer for me and I want to share that wealth of knowledge with you! Listen, I realize that it may seem as if this whole manifestation thing seems a bit mystical and out there - I felt the same way too - and before I really dove into the science of loa - I was on the fence about it too. I would waver from OK I totally believe this to asking myself if I could really get behind this fully. After studying research after research done b highly respected scientist, biologist, biochemist and experts - I can wholeheartedly say that the evidence is overwhelming at how much power we humans possess in creating our own future. And how we've been conditioned from birth to think otherwise... I invite you to take a listen about the 3 big myths that people often do when they begin their manifestation journey and the one thing (well it's actually two parts of one thing) you can start doing today to expedite your manifestation. These three myths are what kept my manifestation stalled for sometime - especially during the times I felt I needed The Universe to help me out a bit - these days, I manifest with much more ease and less stress. I know that I'm co-creating with The Universe and hopefully you will come to realize the same about your own abilities. See you in the episode! xx Cat

Why do I keep talking about the subconscious mind? Well because it's literally the thing that governs our reality...so it's pretty damn important if you ask me. And really you don't need to ask me - just take a look around and you'll see that a lot of other people are also realizing the same thing. I don't hide that I'm a big fan of the law of attraction and manifestation - but I'm an even bigger fan of quantum physics, epigenetics and neuroplasticity - which is where loa + manifestation are born from. And as much as I'm into spirituality - I can grasp theories more when there's a bit of science to support it. If you would have told me years ago that I would be studying peer reviewed scientific research about our brain and heart energies and diving into atoms, electrons and protons - well, if you knew me then this isn't even a subject you would have asked me about - cause it was never on my radar. But now, I nerd out by just the mention of quantum fields and neuroscience! My quest in diving into this subject is to understand truly how our thoughts create our reality - this proven theory has been the driving force to why I wanted to desperately find some answers, first for myself and then for the amazing clients that I'm honored to help guide in their own transformation. I am soaking up as much as I'm able to - then I simplify what I've learned - implement them in my life - and pass this knowledge onto my clients, audience and those intrigued about this subject as much as I am! So I hope you come away with some new found knowledge - a tool you can use in your own life today - or even just something to ponder about. Truly I so appreciate you tuning in and even happier if you're able to walk away with something new as well! Can't wait for you to tune in! xx cat

We’ve all had to make changes in our lives, some are forced on us and some we decide to change for ourselves. This week I talk about the science behind why change is so difficult to come by and it has a lot to do with the way we are wired as humans. Even when we know we MUST make a change we desperately cling to what is familiar because it’s what we know. And what we know and what is familiar is what brings us comfort and makes us feels safe...and we’re taught from an early age that safe is a good thing - the right thing - and although I agree with that from a physical state of being - from a growth and expansion state - safe keeps you stuck. Unable to make decisions that could make a great impact in your future because the new landscape is untraveled, unknown and risky. I know that world all too well. I stayed in relationships that I needed to walk away from, in jobs, friendships and mindsets that kept me from creating any lasting change. Ultimately I was forced to change because of my new surroundings- even though at the time I swore to myself this change was only temporary - only until I was home then I was going back to the same person. And well as we now know...that wasn’t possible. The old me was gone and a new me emerged. Changed forever. A change that required me to unravel myself down to my foundation and rebuild from a new perspective. Hope that after listening you’re able to take away with ways in which you can apply change into your own life as well. Thank you again for tuning in...see you in the episode
