People think you shouldn't work for free and In small parts I believe that but there are so many areas where it works to collaborate where it can benefit both sides .On this episode I share the build up to the Awards event i'm hosting, Exposure is very important, Along with this I speak about the 2 day broker course I delivered the last 2 days, I am not the biggest fan of online courses but unfortunately this is how the people want to engage so it is what it is.
Calling clients is tough! The internal doubts we have, the fear of being screamed at, it all plays around in our head!Along with a mindset shift of believing you are someone of value, why not try this approach.Rather than asking a client if the're interesting in buying what you're sellingBtw, you're offering your services (something they know nothing about)Why not lead with value? Now think, what could be of value to the client?Watch this episode to learn techniques that will create value with your client and in turn lead to opportunities. This weeks episode I speak about networking but not in a place where you're uncomfortable standing aroundOn the golf course where you can have a general conversation and start to establish trust with someone .That's what happened with me!The good thing about what I do is that what I teach is shown pretty much in my conversation with someone,Nothing to do with 1 liners, its about establishing trust .Really enjoyed last week, got out the apartment, worked in an office environment, met lots of new people and gave value to the community!
Why do you want to be a leader? Last week I had the opportunity to speak at HR summit & Expo in Dubai, I had the chance to talk about anything I wanted Straight away though I knew what I wanted to speak about . Understanding if leadership is the right move for you. You will know people who got promoted and were gone from the business in 6 months. Why does this happen? In my presentation I showed it from 2 sides. Should they have been a leader in the first place? What should the company be doing to protect the person? During my presentation I like to ask thought provoking questions, reason being, everyone knows what they're doing but are they doing it? Along with my own experience I've been fortunate enough to have some incredible conversations with CHRO and senior leaders who not only talk but have proven strategies. I speak about these during my presentation. Do you think this can help you, your development and the development of people in your business? Want a copy of the presentation? I've put this together on 2 pages. If you want a copy! Comment in the box ‘YES' and I'll send it to you! Working with ICS Learn team, they wanted to make sure this presentation stayed evergreen so we recorded it. Comment YES YES for both
If you can overcome this, you won't care who you speak in front of. I'm the youngest of 3 boys, 1 of my brothers use to practice his wrestling moves on me, They would make me believe it was good business to swap a £5 note for a shiny 50 pence. I would get them back by informing my parents they had done bad things (like sneaking out) I'm no grass though
Failing my way (in public, in my car) to success On this episode I speak about hiring someone who was meant to raise the bar, a new benchmark on what success looks like, Trouble was, I made the wrong choice Now, if you make a bad choice you can either bite the bullet, hold or your hands up and solve the issue before it gets out of hand, Or you can drag it out and in the end, relationships , culture and all round energy can get effected watch this episode to see what happened to me, I do these videos to show the challenges, everyday is a struggle, I will tell you nothing comes easy and show you where I fail but I will fail my way to success. What happens when you don't make a decision as a leader?

As a leader, what would you do in this situation? This was a big eye opener for me. Around 6 years ago I decided I was leaving the company I worked at for 7 years, I have my own company now but back then I was looking for a leadership role at one of the flag ship companies In Dubai . During the interview I was asked a situational question. Mark, you're leading a team and the the online product goes down, no one can open the app, no one can use it, what do you do ? Now, on reflection, I completely messed up here! My response I'll do what ever I have to, I'll do this job , I'll do that job, I'll be up all night to ensure it's done and everyone is back on line!!At the time I thought it showed my grit and determination BUT The reason for the question was to see the level of trust I had in my team! What should I have done? Well I need to first of all picture that I know my team, I trust them and they are more than capable to get this issue resolved ! With that mindset I then can go about what is my role and that is to support them in the background Yes I have to still be hands on but in no way should I be trying to do the tech guys job when I don't even know how to set up a laptop! Why am I saying this? 2 things 1 - I realized that maybe I'm not the leader I thought I was.2 - don't be so eager during an interview to say you'll turn the world upside down to get it doneThink what you would actually do in that role and probably something you've already been doing for a number of months / years. If you want to know what else happened during this Interview, something that meant I wasn't even going to get the job in the first place, watch out for my “failing my way (in public) to success podcast Where I tell more of this story, you'll be SHOCKED and I'm hoping it questions some of the stupidity that goes on today! Leaders, recruiters, interviewers, interviewees , what's your thoughts on this? Has it happened to you? hashtag#leadership hashtag#interview hashtag#candidate hashtag#recruitment hashtag#grit hashtag#determination
what values do you want in your team and as a leader? on this episode I speak about key questions you need to be asking if you want to be building a strong team Along with this I speak about the importance of having the right personalities in the team, WIDGET Working genius www.workinggenius.com (1) Wonder - is there a better way (day dream when younger) (2) Genius of invention - joy and energy of coming up with new ideas (3) Discernment (gut feel) good at seeing patterns , integrative thinkers (4) Galvanize - rally the troops, enjoy getting people up (5) Enablement - people that get joy and energy out of saying yes and they love to help. If you think it's a good idea , I'm going to follow you (6) Tenacity - they like to get it done, they like to get it finished You might have the right people but are they sitting on the right seat on the bus
because of my behaviors and my intentions I was given an opportunity within the company to be promoted So going through the interview process my director he said to me Mark what do you think about going for a promotion? And I said well I'm not sure but I'll give it a go I asked him what are you expecting to see in my presentation? And he actually gave me an overview So when you're banging your head against the wall thinking what should I be presenting What is this person going to expect Ask the question What are you expecting to see from this? And he gave me a breakdown And it wasn't that he gave me the answers I still had to put it together go through the presentation And that was tough But at least I had a sort of expectation of what he wanted to see and that really helped he comes up with a question and he says why should you get this job over the other person? And I said bluntly and to the point I'm not here to talk about the other person I'm here to talk about myself If I do not get this job I will leave the business Now for about 7 years in my head I've told myself that the reason why I've said that is because I'm the man and what a line to drop and everything And the truth is that actually isn't true And it's only through going for a presentation I did last week about the social pressures of leadership and why people decide to be a leader in the first place And one of the reasons is the social pressure of oh you're not a manager yet Oh you're still doing a sales job Oh I thought you'd be a bit more than that by now And it wasn't that I fell for that particular trap It was that everyone would have known that I would have gone for this promotion And if I wouldn't have got the job I said to myself oh now I've got a taste of it I have to go for a leadership role But the truth is I thought I'll be so embarrassed going back into what I was doing when everybody across the business you know everyone saw that I was interviewing for it Everyone knew that I was going for that position So that was a little bit of an awakening in the last couple of weeks really because even though yes I felt that oh I couldn't once I got a taste for leadership I couldn't go back into doing just what I was doing But also I came to a realisation that yeah I would have been embarrassed i would have been embarrassed to go back and have that person who i was a team member with have a promotion and me just continue with what what i was doing which you know i was pretty happy with coming in making good money uh but it's 2 ways here one is that i've been identified as a leader my director saw something in me now whether he thought and again this is the journey I've been on you know was I coachable enough Did he see me as the person that could be coachable? And I honestly believe that in the last you know from working with him getting things wrong multiple times but putting my hands up challenging him as well You know you might not think To be coachable you can challenge but he wanted me to challenge him because it was a sort of mentor-mentee thing

On the show today is someone i have known for since 2009, someone who today is going to share some real knowledge about building a career but also being part of business that got acquired for an 8 figure sum USD, earning a % of this, He is on this show because he has some real insights into rising up the ranks, transferring from sales to a technical director and has a mindset and knowledge we should all look to reach, With his straight talking and no bullshit attitude, he can be ruthless but he himself says he has learned to be more understanding and that has allowed him to excel. What do we discuss on the show, see below. promotion from sales director to technical director, not many people would be capable of that, could you tell me about how that was for you, challenges faced and what you learned? Recently, BIOS was acquired by zaintech, part of Zain Group. Companies love an acquisition, what was it about BIOS that stood out to them and why couldn't they just do it themselves? Sales is sales (is not correct) , especially with the type of service you offer, what are the mistakes you see sales people/ technical people making and what actions can people take to get better People working in the middle east always give off this impression that it's easy for white British men but in an industry that is mostly Indian, Pakistani, Egyptian, Jordanian, how do you adapt? What's been some differences that have happened (good or bad) since zain group? I want to highlight as well (major point to this podcast really,) about building a career, showing your loyalty, getting rewarded for that and then the journey is getting even better because you've now been promoted again. Too much is pushed on people to be entrepreneurs and there is nothing wrong with building a career and having the success like you're having. Thank you for being on the show, Adam, your success is only just beginning. How to build a successful career and be rewarded for it through tech acquisition

Key topics of discussion To be a leader you can't just assume everyone can do what you can do Be careful on the reasons your actually taking the job, is it really aligning with what you want to do and be. On the show today I share with you a presentation I did to a packed audience, What was the topic? How to develop talent. Working as a development coach but also being around businesses for the past 20 years I see a lot of good intentions but rarely do the behaviors match up. 1st - are our behaviors matching our intentions? I will speak about how the company that has invested to bring me in to train the team, its a time where we disconnect and really focus on learning and developing, What happens? the manager comes in and disturbs the whole session to speak with someone about an on going deal. 2 - disconnect between company goal and personal goal, there is not a clear defined line on what that journey, that vision looks like. 3 - training is so much more than a tick box exercise - how much planning is going into this? 4 - too much flip flopping, no consistency - this creates lack of trust. 5 - listen to the full episode It is clear that if you want to keep talent you have to be willing to invest, be patient, show growth opportunities, create a culture of learning and be agile to changing of the times. Not even NASA has all the answers, they potentially are killing people off Leadership is a whole skill set on its own. Sales Professionals, Welcome to another episode of Failing my way, in public, to success, the Mark Sclaire podcast, you could have been anywhere else but you're here with me and I appreciate that, so lets get started . On the show today I ask with a question, What is the most important part of the sales process? When I ask this question in my live events most people will say, the closing of the sale, Some will say, negotiation, qualification, demo/presentation, I don't want you just to read this and not watch the video, its one thing to read but I go into further detail about the importance of this part of the sales process, I share stories about sales people contacting me and not checking my history with the company, Sales people demo'ing / presenting and making mistakes that cost them deals, No qualification being done at the start so you're wasting time on deals that should never have started .In this podcast I document my journey, its easy to highlight the great parts but people can really like from the mistakes we make and those are what I try to share.Thank you for joining me on this journey Connect with me: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/marksclairetraining/ LinkedIn: MarkSclaire https://www.linkedin.com/in/mark-sclaire-97202045/ Website: www.marksclaire.com Email: mark@marksclaire.com Phone: +971566556093 ======================= Please support this channel by giving me a like, subscribing or leaving a comment.Ep 97 What is the most important part of the sales process?
Welcome to another episode of failing my way (in public) to success. 3 weeks in a row now, getting some consistency going again. This is the journey of Mark, lots of downs, many ups but just trying to find my way to success. Most shows you only see the highlight reels, the great successes that people claim every day, That's not real though and even if they are being upfront, many times its not authentic and part of the plan. I hope on this show people get an insight into the challenges I face on a weekly basis, both externally and internally, On the pod this week, I talk about the 2 interviews that I recorded for my new season I have 2 podcasts, 1 is the show you're listening to now (thank you) and the other is where I interview people to get insights and knowledge so I can be better at what I do and because you're listening, you might learn something also. The 1st recording was on Thursday, 4th April and as much as i prepared, there were issues,I felt like I wasn't seated right and because of that I was not engaged enough with the person I was interviewing. My biggest problem was that I got into my head that I could not look at my notes whilst the person was talking, I felt that if they saw this they would think I was disrespecting them and that's not the case AT ALL!!I t is very normal for the person doing the interview to look at their notes but for some reason I could not do it. Why does this matter? because I feel I ended up asking questions that yes meant something but did not go with the objective of the interview. The show was for 1 hour and we ran out of time, It easily could have gone on another hour, If you are reading down this far, I really appreciate it :) What I want to say hear though is that I had a chance the next day to do better, I wrote down what I felt went wrong and I made sure that I did better the next time, I can say that everything i wanted to better, I did, The seating, the mic position, asking 2 questions at the end that were important to me, I looked down at the questions (i informed the new guest I would be doing that) There is something that I need to say as well though, I really don't know what this is yet but what I do know, the point of the show is to interview people that I can learn from and be inspired, people I respect, its not for clickbait or having people on because its a popular topic and will get views. I'm being selfish, I want to learn and get the edge, the great news is, you can listen and get the edge also. Biography Myles Gage is the Co-founder and Chief Marketing Officer of Rapunzl Investments, a mobile application that allows individuals to simulate stock portfolios for utilizing real-time market data. Myles has been an advocate for encouraging young people to invest in the stock market given his exposure to learning about it in elementary school where he won stock trading competitions and even got to hold Warren Buffet's wallet once! Myles began his career as a credit analyst at CIBC. He and his co-founder, Brian Curcio, realized that ordinary investors have paid a price to learn to invest — and that price typically was real money ending up in Wall Street's pocket. Rapunzl was founded to provide an unparalleled investing education through fun (and free) investment competitions with scholarship and cash prizes. Will update this when I'm home
If you have been following my podcast over the past 2 years, (1st of all, thank you) At the start of the podcast, I'd started the journey to build a sales training company (for the 2nd time) The update now is that I have done what I said I would do (after changing the model of the business) and I have recorded, edited and sequenced an online sales program. The next step (5 months into this step is getting it where people can see it and that takes money and ALOT of effort. Along with this I came to the realisation (again) that I don't want to work for myself, I want to be part of a business where I can grow, develop but also lead a team. That happened at the start of 2022 and in the podcast I document this journey in a way where people get to see what most people don't show, (their struggles and failures, This podcast will cover topics such as... Starting in a company where I have been out the game for a number of years Family issues that I have to block out because If I think about them it can screw up my whole day. Balancing a relationship with trying to excel at work Trying to launch a side business that will create a passive income Overcoming many challenges, both mentally & physically, Trying to lose the belly but enjoying chocolate and crisps too much. The goal of this is to document my journey to look back on and see how far i've come but also to help others who think the people they admire have their sh*t together but really they're pretty f**kd up but know if they keep going and stay consistent, they will get there. On a bi-weekly basis I put together a podcast about what I am doing a long the journey of failing my way (in public to success) Me doing this show is quite conflicting because obviously I should be this finished polished article that can show you exactly what you need to do to be successful but like us all, I make mistakes and I'm on this journey to find out just how far I can go I really hope you appreciate that and don't judge me too much because you as well have a journey to go and if you are judging me then you are judging yourself and I would hate to see that happen It's important this podcast is put out there because so many people portray a life of success when really so much sh+t goes on. In this weeks episode I speak about Event success but its all in the follow Being too impatient with others and expecting more Communication at the event that helps me learn and develop unnecessary 'debates' when we just should be getting on with our jobs The importance of guidelines, even if they are your mates. I don't want people to be deterred from taking the leap but I feel people should be aware and prepared Connect with me: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/marksclairetraining/ LinkedIn: MarkSclaire https://www.linkedin.com/in/mark-sclaire-97202045/ Website: www.marksclaire.com Email: mark@marksclaire.com Phone: +971566556093 ======================= Please support this channel by giving me a like, subscribing or leaving a comment.

I love interviewing people that have a real passion for what they do and there is no one I know with more drive and will to see where he can get to than, Michael Kenner. This is the 2nd interview I have done with Michael, This is really a fly on the wall experience I recently joined a company and become the regional manager, leading a team and working closely with marketing. After 1 day of going through the marketing plan, I knew I needed the help from someone who, yes they know what they're talking about but has also 'paid to play' the game, spending into the hundreds of thousands of pounds just to know if a certain keyword is hot that month. Willing to risk it all, you cant help but be inspired by how Michael just keeps on going and going.

I BROKE - I FAILED - I LET MYSELF DOWN - I DON'T FOLLOW STUFF THROUGH - that's what goes through your head when you against what you said you were doing. I have an issue, what others think of me does not drive me to overcome adversity, many people will thrive in that environment but when im sat there not wanting to have the same crap happening to me each day, I knew I had to bite the bullet and take a leap back into the 'real world' There is a lot of good that has come from this journey, a lot to be proud of and a lot more to do but as I have always said, I like working for a company, there is nothing wrong with that. I can't tell you how happy I was to see her and sad I am that she left. Thank G-d for video call the last 2 weeks have been amazing but I also have to stay focused on the business. I decided to focus in the mornings where I am most active, I wake up at 5am and by 11am my full focus was on my parents. These are big struggles we can face as entrepreneurs because we must find balance in our lives What's the point of building the business and not spending quality time with my mum Hope you enjoy the podcast and me being me and thank you for listening. It's important this podcast is put out there because so many people portray a life of success when really so much sh+t goes on. I don't want people to be deterred from taking the leap but I feel people should be aware and prepared The last few months for me have been tough, all the video content is complete for my online course and yet I have not launched anything Why is this? Fear of spending money Fear of it not being right Fear of too much to do to drive awareness All of this and more I will say this is all part of the journey and when I look back I might laugh but right now, it sucks. I'm upset because I expect more from myself, people say I'm doing really good but I know I'm not reaching my full potential. It's important people know it's been sh7t because the last few days I've been at an event and I've received a few messages about how great things are going but that's not the case. yes the event was a success but in regards to my online training program, i'm months behind schedule. Can I change this and get it up and running? YES I CAN!! NOW FOR SOME GREAT NEWS I have a very special guest who has agreed to be on my podcast who I met at the event. People talk about law of attraction but they forget about the action part, well, I made this happen I asked the person directly and they agreed, WHOOP WHOOP!! Along with this, I ran into someone that connected me the right person at a company and now it looks like a potential to do ALOT of training sessions next year. LET"S DO THIS!!! Hope you enjoy the podcast and me being me and thank you for listening.
