    Ivy Insights

The Complex Trauma Recovery podcast, hosted by Kina, is an exceptional resource for anyone seeking to understand and heal from childhood trauma. Kina's deep and healing approach to unraveling the complexities of childhood trauma is truly remarkable. Her presentation of information is insightful, well-researched, and explained in a way that is easily understood. As someone who has personally experienced complex childhood PTSD and spent years on a healing journey, I have gained tremendous benefit from Kina's work.

One of the best aspects of this podcast is the immense depth of insight that Kina provides. She delves into the complexities of the childhood trauma brain, providing listeners with a thorough understanding of what goes on inside a traumatized mind. Her research-backed explanations help to demystify the effects of trauma and offer hope for healing. Furthermore, her warm and compassionate demeanor shines through in every episode, creating a safe space for listeners to explore their own experiences.

Another great aspect of this podcast is its ability to provide comfort and perspective in between therapy sessions. Listening to Kina's insights has been incredibly helpful for those moments when additional guidance or understanding is needed. Her ability to distill complex topics into digestible episodes makes it easy to access valuable information when it's most needed.

While it may be challenging to find any negative aspects of The Complex Trauma Recovery podcast, one possible downside could be that some listeners may find certain episodes triggering or emotionally overwhelming. Given the nature of childhood trauma, exploring these topics can be difficult for survivors who are still in the early stages of their healing journey. It would be beneficial if trigger warnings or content advisories were provided at the beginning of episodes that delve into particularly sensitive subjects.

In conclusion, The Complex Trauma Recovery podcast is an incredible resource for anyone seeking knowledge and healing related to childhood trauma. With her vast expertise and compassionate approach, Kina offers invaluable insights that can guide listeners on their journey towards recovery. Whether you are a trauma survivor, therapist, or simply seeking to expand your understanding of complex trauma, this podcast is a must-listen. Kina's dedication to spreading awareness and providing support is commendable, and her work has undoubtedly made a positive impact on countless lives.

Shelby graduated with her master of social work degree in 2020 from Grand Valley State University and has since worked as a children's homebased therapist in community mental health, and as an outpatient therapist in private practice with adults. She has experience working with children, families, perinatal mothers, and adults. Just like Kina, her favorite clients to work with are young adults who have struggled to gain deeper healing in therapy. As a trauma therapist, Shelby uses a variety of modalities and interventions, including Internal Family Systems/parts work, Polyvagal Theory, Compassion-Focused Therapy, Mindfulness, and Somatic Experiencing to attempt deeper healing and meaning. IFS is one of her favorite modalities because she has seen so many clients resonate with it (including herself), and has also seen such powerful shifts in how clients relate to themselves, the people in their lives, and to the world. IFS is an approach to complex trauma treatment, as well as various other treatments, that aims to integrate all "parts" or personalities of a person into a more functional and accepting whole system that is led by the self. The goal is to heal "wounded" parts and restore mental balance. She has found this modality especially effective for clients who tend to have dissociative symptoms and/or attachment/relational trauma. Shelby is currently based in Muskegon Michigan; for more information on her or how to work with her, you can find her information on Tiktok (@Shelby_thetherapist)."

Here is Melissa's bio and where to find more of her work!    Melissa is a licensed therapist in private practice in the state of South Carolina.  She has been practicing for 17 years this year and she specializes in working with adults with complex trauma and couples.  She is certified in EMDR and can provide consultation for therapists pursuing EMDR certification.  She has had several advanced trainings that inform her work and some of her favorites include Attachment Focused EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, Internal Family Systems, and Emotionally Focused Therapy, to name a few.  She can be found on Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok @melissaparkssays   https://linktr.ee/complexptsd  Support me on Patreon and unlock more CPTSD blog posts and videos   https://www.patreon.com/complextraumarecovery --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/complextraumarecovery/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/complextraumarecovery/support
