This podcast is changing because my work is changing! I'm still offering business coaching, and you can find out how I help therapists and healers with their businesses at rebeltherapist.me. AND I've stepped back into working with clients as a healer. I have been on a HUGE healing journey of my own that started with a guided psychedelic journey in January of 2023. I then received Brainspotting, first from my friend, Alicia Taverner. Hire her if you can. She's at *https://www.ranchocounseling.com/.* Then I received some parts work. I have gotten so much help from these modalities. They really get to the root of my trauma in a way that nothing else has. I felt this magnetic pull to learn these modalities myself and to start working as a healer again. I work with people who are estranged from a parent or caregiver and other folks who want to do some big healing. I also have a workshop coming up later this summer for people who are estranged from a parent or caregiver and are working to build their most beautiful life. If you're interested in checking out any of that, find it at AnnieZam.com. Let's get to today's amazing therapist guest who I adore. My favorite kind of practitioner is the kind that wouldn't ask their client to do anything they don't do themselves. I'm SO excited to introduce Jaclyn Tyson, a therapist and spiritual companion who helps people reconnect with their inner wisdom through spirituality, creativity, and healing practices. She weaves together approaches like Brainspotting, parts work, energy healing, and expressive arts to support personal and collective transformation. In our conversation, you'll hear about how she uses these modalities with her clients AND how they're central to her own growth and healing. Here's some of what we talked about: How Jaclyn processed her grief after her father passed and she knew she needed something beyond the tools she already had Jaclyn's mentorship with a Shaman How she brings Reiki, Brainspotting and IFS together all at once with her clients The rituals she does before and after sessions Show notes at https://rebeltherapist.me/podcast/247

What up, Beasts! In this episode, I sat down with the incredible Suyapa, a licensed clinical social worker and fellow eldest daughter who knows all about the pressure of having it all together. She opened up about growing up in a Mexican and Honduran family, caring for her siblings who live with disabilities and mental health challenges, and what it means to carry adult responsibilities before you even hit your teen years. We talked about what it's like to be the one who always holds it down, the emotional weight that comes with that role, and how it shapes our relationships, our bodies, and our sense of self. This one hit me in the feels. Suyapa and I got real about hyper-independence, loneliness, and how healing starts when we finally give ourselves permission to ask for help. We also dove into how our past can mess with our self-trust, and how unlearning old narratives takes serious patience and compassion. Whether you're navigating your own healing, supporting a family member, or just trying to figure out who you are under all the pressure, this episode will remind you that you're not alone, and that connection really can be medicine. As always, I hope something lands with you today. This short episode is an important message in our time. It is taken from a recent production that is core to his trainings, writing and healing retreats. Mark speaks from the heart about the essence of healing and in this brief snapshot, covers key concepts that have been subjugated and marginalised in so much therapy and healing work. Through this narration, we can remind ourselves of the relationship between the person and the psyche, the importance of ritual and ceremony, the power of the collective or the tribe, and the power of meeting our pain within and well beyond psychology. This piece then invites listeners and seekers to explore the retreat opportunity, Brainspotting: From Source. Mark will co-host this alongside esteemed trainer Dr Roby Ables and the remarkable musician, yoga teacher and sound healing trainer, Siobhan Swider. In this episode, I'm joined by Linda Thai — a mental health clinician, storyteller, and educator who has had her own lived experiences of individual, collective, historical and cultural traumatization...and healing. I've interviewed many fascinating individuals in the past seven years of running The Weekend University, but there was something different about Linda. It might have something to do with her getting off the grid and living in the wilderness in Alaska, or perhaps it's the eclectic self-education she has immersed herself in. Whatever it is, Linda brings to the table a unique and holistic perspective on attachment, that I think is years ahead of the conventional wisdom. Expect to learn: — The difference between psychology, trauma-informed psychology, culturally-informed psychology, and liberation informed psychology — Where traditional attachment theory falls short — Why we need to redefine the parameters of attachment and take an ecosystem view And more. You can learn more about Linda's work and trainings at https://www.linda-thai.com/. --- Linda Thai, LMSW ERYT-200 is a trauma therapist and educator who specializes in brain and body-based modalities for addressing complex developmental trauma. Linda has worked with thousands of people from all over the world to promote mindfulness, recover from trauma, and tend to grief as a means of self care. Linda's work centers on healing with a special focus on the experiences of adult children of refugees and immigrants. Her teaching is infused with empathy, storytelling, humor, research, practical tools, applied knowledge, and experiential wisdom. She has assisted internationally renowned psychiatrist and trauma expert, Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, with his private small group psychotherapy workshops aimed at healing attachment trauma. She has a Master of Social Work with an emphasis on the neurobiology of attachment and trauma. Linda has studied Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Somatic Experiencing, Brainspotting, Internal Family Systems, Trauma-Informed Stabilization Treatment, Havening Touch, Flash Technique, and structural dissociation of the personality, and offers the Safe and Sound Protocol, yoga, and meditation within her practice. Linda works on the traditional lands of the Tanana Athabascan people (Fairbanks, Alaska) with those recovering from addiction, trauma, and mental illness. She is passionate about breaking the cycle of historical and intergenerational trauma at the individual and community levels. --- Interview Links: Linda's website - https://www.linda-thai.com/

— Honoring Ancestral Grief work is very subtle and profound, that takes place on a molecular level. It takes patience, devotion, compassion and an open heart to generate and embody these changes, until one day the process unfolds organically and naturally without utilizing immense reservoirs of effort. Some of the positive changes occur on the neuroplasticity level, which is the brain's ability to change through growth and reorganization. Some manifest as a deeper attuned nervous system and wider access to the information and sacred wisdom our bodies carries, a whole inner architecture that we get to know, our ancestry library. A big part of the work of processing the un-metabolized grief of our ancestors, is to grief for them, and by doing so, for us as well. Grief call us to life. There's an importance in embracing grief to help us find deeper meaning in the joy and vitality of life. Healing this grief may come through reconnecting with our forgotten lineage, allowing us to restore a foundation that may be missing, from which we can move more deeply into relationship with the wider world. The prayer is for the individual sovereign work we do, to ripple into our families, communities, eco-systems, lineages and the earth. What we liberate in ourselves, echos back infinitely and eternally, as a different quality of energy gets passed on to the next generations. A holistic, ancient, awaked, wise energy. One that witnesses the stories from a birds eye perspective, one that is generating the oceans of compassion and light hearted freedom. One that is expanding our map of consciousness, that is stretching the elasticity of our collective memory and presence. It is essential we support the accessing of our own inner wisdom, so that we may connect with the ancestor that we wish to become. Valeria interviews MayRav Nissim — She is an open hearted, warm and experienced therapist and space holder. Her work is informed by a wide range of healing modalities to help you restore, balance, and bloom. The northern star of her work is the important role the mind-body connection plays in healing and growth. Her practice is the interweaving of Psychotherapy, BioIntelligence, Neurobiology and Indigenous wisdom. Her certifications and continued areas of study include Internal Family Systems Level 3, Somatic Attachment Therapy, Somatic Experiencing, Brainspotting, Sound Healing and an ever-present apprenticeship in Shamanic practices. MayRav views her work with clients as a shared, supportive and compassionate reminder of ways to reconnect with their most authentic self, while they integrate deep sustainable change. It is her intention to guide them to create a more rooted foundation in their body, mind, heart and soul, from which they may step into greater vitality, presence and wholeness. MayRav honors the knowing that our individual healing work eternally ripples within our homes, families, lineages and systems. She is passionate about breaking the cycles of historical and intergenerational trauma at the individual and community levels, and deeply believes in the healing power of coming together in community to witness and be witnessed, express, grief, renegotiate and reorganize.
