Studio Kroner presents ALL ELSE PALES: 2 —an immersive exhibition uniting artists, scientists, and activists to explore sustainability, climate change, and environmental justice. Join Studio Kroner from April 17 – May 24, 2025, for dynamic discussions, artist talks, and community engagement. In this episode, Armin and I are joined by artist, designer, and owner, Paul Kroner and two participating artists, Devon Horton and John Sabraw. We delve into the origins of ALL ELSE PALES with Paul. The exhibit built off the first version held in 2022. The exhibit is Paul's invitation for artists to face environment fears and hopes. By doing so, the art displayed is a catalyst for open conversations on the challenge of global environmental sustainability as well as individual introspection on our own awareness into areas we can take action. The artists Devon Horton, who is also the co-curator of the exhibit) and John Sabraw, who is featured in our episode 78 podcast, brings this discussion alive with insights into their journey of creating work with a universal and global message. for artists and audience alike. The show notes here will be more extensive than usual as we will list the websites of the participating artists. Please take the time to check them all out. Even better, visit the exhibit in downtown Cincinnati, Ohio at Studio Kroner located at 130 West Court Street. There is a full event schedule listed on the website. Stāsta Rīgas ielu pētnieks Edgars Lecis. 1729. gadā Vecķeipenes muižā piedzima Gustavs Emanuels fon Veismanis, kurš kļuva par Krievijas impērijas armijas inženieri. 18. gadsimta otrajā pusē viņš vadīja dambju izbūvi, kas regulētu Daugavas gultni no Ķengaraga līdz Daugavgrīvai. Daudzas no šīm hidrotehniskajām būvēm ir saglabājušās līdz mūsdienām. Darbu gaitā iegūdams ievērojamus līdzekļus, fon Veismanis iegādājās vairākas muižas, tostarp muižiņu mūsdienu Šarlotes ielā 3. Šo muižiņu fon Veismanis nosauca savas meitas vārdā – par Šarlotentāli. Kaut arī 19. gadsimta sākumā muižu savā īpašumā ieguva Rīgas daiļdārznieks un Ķemeru parka izveidotājs Heinrihs Vāgners, un turpmāk to sauca par Vāgnera muižu, Šarlotentāles nosaukums saglabājās pašam rajonam. Pašu Šarlotes ielu izveidoja 19. gadsimta sākumā, nosaucot to par Lēģeru ielu jeb Palesādu ielu.
Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today we're going to be discussing 5 spells from the wizarding world of Harry Potter. But before we get started I want you to brace yourselves to the fact these aren't just any old 5 spells- these are 5 of the most powerful, destructive spells the wizarding world has ever seen- spells so formidable that by contrast even the notorious killing curse (avada kedavra) PALES in comparison. Now, within the wizarding world magic can be leveraged for a wide variety of functions- from help with every day tasks (like cleaning), to picking locks, to teleportation. But perhaps one of the most IMPORTANT uses of magic in a tumultuous wizarding world (that seems to face a new dark wizard every few decades) is the ability to perform martial magic - that is, magic for combat. Now, in every day context martial magic is not necessary, but it certainly never hurts to be prepared for an invasion of death eaters or dark wizard acolytes, and that's probably why most of these 5 powerful spells were created in the first place. Anyway, I won't dawdle any longer. Without further ado- here are 5 of the most POWERFUL offensive spells in the wizarding world. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Abby and Patrick welcome Palestinian psychoanalyst and psychologist Dr. Jess Ghannam to talk about his twenty-five years of work doing empirical research and carrying out public health initiatives in Gaza. They discuss his studies of mental health in refugees from across the Middle East and in Palestinian children; intergenerational histories of traumas both collective and individual; the limits of the “post-” in post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) when it comes to what is “normal” in spaces of concentrated and ongoing trauma; his reflections from years of observing thousands of Palestinian children at play; the relationship between physical repression and psychic violence; and much more.Relevant articles by Dr. Ghannam include:Unattended Mental Health Needs in Primary Care: Lebanon's Shatila Palestinian Refugee Camp. We're living in a time where our masks can no longer hold. Curtains are being pulled back. Veils are being torn down. There's no more hiding from yourself or from the truth of yourself. Everyone is showing themselves, whether they intended that or not. Pales-tine is helping us see that. So how do we deal with the loss and ensuing grief of the lives we used to know? The ones in which we had so many friends who understood us and now are no longer aligned because they continue to insist on holding on to how things used to be when really, that's not possible. Not in the face of gen0cide. Tune in to this week's episode to find out how to move on in life without the people you thought would always be there.
Life is challenging in so many ways, last week was a doozy, Surgery, Selling Stuff, Indian Food - oh my! (We had a crazier week this week- when we can stomach it, we'll talk about it and record it because what a wild ride…) And by now you know we're obsessed with litter, downright obsessed. So let me share a theory on how the Goody Corporation sources their products! And we've started to write down trivial things to amuse you, Email us if you want to subscribe to our weekly newsletter! You and I have real frustrations with the direction of America and the political change that threatens the Constitution. But after watching Gold Star families talk about the botched withdrawal from Afghanistan, it's obvious our frustrations pale in comparison. Wait until you hear one father from Missouri on Capitol Hill yesterday. A group that studies elections says two former swing states are out of play in 2024 and are now both solidly red and it won't change. The Chiefs keep seven wide receiver for two very good reasons. And www.heroesamonguskc.org does wonderful work with veterans and their families in the midwest and they could use a little of your help either playing in their charity golf tourney on 9/11 or making a donation at their site. An extended and slightly meandering discussion on our best tips for creating and brewing hazy pales and IPAs!

In this episode Stephen & Aaron are joined by returning guest, Elliott Carrington AKA Crafty Carrington who first appeared on the show back in 2020 as a home brewer and enthusiast. Since then, things have changed somewhat as Elliott is now a brewing assistant at Powder Monkey Brewery in Gosport and the trio drink some Powder Monkey beers whilst having a chat how Elliott found himself at Powder Monkey. During the show, the chaps drink their extremely nice Explosion West Coast IPA, the Drop Anchor Vienna Pale Ale and the BBQ Pitmaster Rye IPA, all of which were superb. Powder Monkey brew some interesting styles which aren't regularly seen in the beer world, alongside the hazy IPAs and Pales you'd expect them to. Do you want to learn about the second swallow? Then listen in to this show as Aaron tells you all about it! You can find more out about Powder Monkey by visiting their website or finding them across social media by searching for Powder Monkey. They are also offering 20% off their beers for a limited time only so use code 'POB20' at point of checkout to receive 20% off your order!
Psychic Warfare is thrilled to feature Jake Duszik, vocalist of one of the coolest and forward thinking bands in heavy music, HEALTH, on the podcast. We take an incredibly deep dive into the ideas and forces that have shaped Jake's pragmatic view of existence, the lingering curse, and eventual salvation, of our own consciousness and awareness of pain and mortality, and the biological complexities of the human mind that shape exactly how we behave in any given moment. Just like his band, Jake truly is a forward thinking and insightful individual and you're not going to want to miss out on this incredibly enlightening conversation.

The pair begin by analysing how recent legislative changes will impact Australia's cyber security environment, and the flow on effects that policy changes will have on local business. Thompson and Pales continue the podcast discussing the importance of having cyber security expertise at senior management levels in companies to ensure that businesses have a cyber security culture. The pair wrap up the podcast by discussing strategies on how businesses can maintain cyber safe practices. Enjoy the podcast, The Cyber Security Uncut team

For Cyber Security expert Claire Pales, starting her own business was always on her ‘career to-do list' but it came about sooner than she expected. She certainly wasn't planning for it to be right after returning from four years in Hong Kong with two young children in tow. However, some difficult experiences with local recruiters in Melbourne delivered her the ultimate blessing in disguise – it showed her a gap in the market. And her experience as an expat, gave her the confidence to do something about it. Today Claire runs her own advisory service helping companies identify and then hire the right cyber security specialists. She runs a podcast called The Security Collective, has published two books and now provides advice to boards on cyber security risks. By her own admission, Claire is risk adverse and she has a stellar career that speaks to this! So while living overseas didn't instil in Claire necessarily a sense of adventure, she says it taught her how to problem solve, be resourceful and how to fall on your feet in a foreign country. She said, “It showed me a new way of living and gave me the confidence to start something new.” She shares not only her story but what skills she learnt as an expat that have helped her build her businesses and the life she now enjoys.

Martin Franklin 0:18 Hello, welcome back to Metapod, podcasting and beyond. You know, the more I think about what I do with my business, the more I think about the definition of this podcast and what the goal of it is, and every time I come to do a new episode seems to have changed. So, podcasting and beyond, I'll be using my expertise as a Podcast Producer, to bring you a series of podcasts or profiles. This will be a series of interviews where I talk to successful long running podcasters about how they do what they do. I'll be asking them questions like how they integrate their podcast with their business, how they develop their audiences, and how they've developed their own style and unique voice. The first podcast that I'll be talking to is Claire pails. Claire runs the security collective podcast, focusing on attacking it audience. She's been running the show for seven seasons now. Claire has got a great attitude about serving the audience and being useful. She's also got some great tips on promotion, and recording techniques. So let's get into this interview, we're going under the dooner. with Claire pails. Everyone's got different motivations about why they do what they do. And I thought your case is distinctive in as much as it you know, it's it seems to connect very closely to your business. Claire Pales 1:48 The other thing too, is that there are not a lot of security podcasts out there that focus on anything other than kind of the technical nature of security, or the kind of hacks and incidents that are happening around the world. And, you know, that's not what keeps people busy every day, what keeps people busy every day is having enough capability in their teams to service the business as usual of an organization. The incidents might happen to you a big one might happen to you once a year. And yes, then it's all hands on deck. But I wanted a podcast that talks about day to day life of a security team, not just Well, you know, we've had a huge data breach. So what do we do? Martin Franklin 2:30 So you talked about the book being sort of quite a strategic tool for you with the you know, being a sort of Uber business card. Do you feel what what sort of space? Do you feel like the podcast fills in in that respect? Or how close How does it connect with your business strategy? Claire Pales 2:51 Yeah, I, I guess I don't really have a business strategy. I mean, I do I do have a business strategy. Don't get me wrong, I am. I have a business strategy to the extent that I have goals and targets of things that I want to achieve. But I don't look at the podcast as a necessarily as a cash generating activity. I look at the podcast as an opportunity to raise my profile. And it's a really good opener for me to connect with people on LinkedIn. When I see CIOs, I can say hSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
