Most of us live our lives often unaware that the tension we are experiencing in our lives means that it's time to reinvent ourselves. Maybe you've found yourself in moments of discontent: scrolling social media, mindlessly eating, procrastinating. It could be a signal that it's your moment to reinvent. So what if you want to change, but feel stuck in your day to day? Maybe you're living a life based on decisions you made long ago. Those decisions may not reflect who you are currently or want to be. You must release the old narrative to make room for a new story. We often resist this change because much of it comes from our innate need for belonging and approval. Questions like 'Do I belong?', 'Am I right?', or 'Am I on the correct side of things?' often drive our actions, keeping us within the boundaries of our current selves. This is often buried in our subconscious. If you're not making the progress you hoped, pause. Ask yourself: What would your future self tell you in this situation? The key is active movement. Too often, we engage in passive movement such as reading and consuming. This is not the way that we will develop a relationship with our future selves. Through the journey of reinvention - the active movement to our new self - we learn to detach our sense of self from static labels. Your journey of transformation is a testament to your strength, courage, and pursuit of purpose. Make sure to watch the full YouTube video here. For most of our existence as humans, fear has been a great thing. It's part of how our brains are wired to operate and has kept us safe for so many hundreds of years. But when entrepreneurs have to make really tough decisions, a lot of times fear comes into that decision-making process in a way that isn't beneficial. There are so many ways in which it shows up, and sometimes it's hard to identify what is driving the decisions that we're making in our business. If your sales aren't where you want them to be question is, why? And you might be assuming, well, my marketing agency is sending me bad leads. Or maybe it's just that we're not following up enough, or I've had a lot of front desk turnover. Those are all good reasons why sales might not be where you want them to be. But what if it's as simple as the offer? A lot of times, that's what we find is the actual offer is the reason why sales isn't where the business owner wants it to be. And if you've been kind of plateauing, you've explored some of those other options, like, maybe it's my lead flow, maybe it's my paid traffic campaign, maybe I'm not doing enough outreach, maybe I don't have enough partners, those are all really good marketing activities to have in place. But in my experience, the offer is usually that point of leverage for a lot of business owners that they're not thinking about, that can make a massive difference. So in this podcast episode, I'm going to be sharing with you some of the elements that I see with a really powerful offer, and how you can incorporate that into your business today. Today I'm going to challenge an assumption that is the cornerstone of so many marketing practices that I'm seeing online. And this assumption, if left unchecked, could be obstructing your impact, stifling the growth of your organization, and more tragically, muffling the call of your mission. So imagine, there's this myth circling, and it's causing organizations to undercut their potential and generate online content that just kind of dies when people read it. And as I'm looking at more and more websites and enrollment funnels, I'm finding that this myth has made its way into strategies, messaging, and very much an outlook towards marketing. So today, I'm going to be unveiling this myth and how we debunk it. Hold on to your seats, because we're about to revolutionize your understanding of mission-driven marketing. Time to debunk a myth that's been floating around for way too long. It's this idea that if you create something valuable, be it a service, a product, or initiative, your audience will somehow discover it on their own and beat a path to your door. Unfortunately, that's just not how it works. Especially not in the fast paced, saturated marketplaces we find ourselves in today, as business owners and CEOs. In my consulting work, I've been privileged enough to help social change companies, educational institutions, and nonprofits revolutionize their marketing and recruitment strategies. And here's what I've learned: It's never about throwing a message out into the void and hoping it sticks. It's all about “the ask”. So buckle up, because we're about to dive deep into what that ask really means. And why build it and they will come is a dangerous fallacy, and how you can employ real world strategies to make a real impact in your organization and the world. Adversity and hardships are a part of life. Whether it's personal struggles we go through, or the challenges that come with taking on something new, there is value in facing and overcoming them. As the wise words of Maya Angelou have so famously stated, "You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them." No matter how hard life gets, it's important to remember that hardships can help us grow. They provide us with an opportunity to learn and develop our character, and ultimately give us the strength we need to continue on our path and reach our goals. My guest today was Courtney Elmer, Founder of the EffortLESS Life. On today's podcast, we chatted about: Key habits every business owner needs to grow Why is “taking action” is the least scalable thing as a small business owner How to leverage adversity to your advantage Learn more about Courtney here: Podcast: https://www.antifragileentrepreneurship.co Website: https://www.theeffortlesslife.co If you've been loving the Next Level Leap podcast, would you just stop what you're doing right now and give us a quick review? In today's episode, we're diving into the fascinating and increasingly important topic of ethics and marketing. As business owners and marketers, it is our responsibility to ensure that our marketing practices align with our values and social responsibility. In fact, I would propose that the general marketplace is burnt out from getting offers from people who don't prioritize ethics. And in doing so, we're going to stand out from the crowd and create sustainable growth in our company, while making a positive impact on our customers, employees and community. Next up, I'm going to be sharing with you why ethical marketing isn't just about doing more of what's right-it's also a smart business strategy that can lead to stronger customer relationships. What if attempting to tackle every single marketing avenue is actually sabotaging your business's success, rather than propelling it forward? Today, we're diving into the world of multi-channel marketing to debunk a common myth: that utilizing every marketing channel is always the best strategy for every business. I find that many marketing teams are doing all the things because they feel pressure to. And while multi-channel marketing can be a powerful way to reach a broader audience, it is not a one size fits all solution. So in this podcast episode, I'm going to explore the reasons why a multi-channel approach may not be the best fit for every business and discuss alternative strategies that might be more effective. AI (Artificial Intelligence) and EI (Emotional Intelligence) are two terms that have become increasingly popular in recent years. AI is the ability of machines to interpret data, learn from it, and make decisions without direct human input. Emotional intelligence is the capacity for a person to recognize, understand, and manage their own emotions as well as the emotions of those around them. When discussing AI and EI, it's important to note that they are two separate concepts, but they can work together in harmony. AI is best used for tasks that require information processing, data analysis, and decision making using big data sets. Meanwhile, EI helps humans create meaningful connections with one another and understand the emotional consequences of their actions. In this podcast episode, I'm going to help you understand how to connect both EI and AI to get the exact result that you want from your marketing. When it comes to evaluating the success of a marketing campaign, it is so important to prioritize data over feelings. Yet, this is really difficult for many established organizations and quickly growing entrepreneurs. You might think of this as a problem that businesses in the beginning stages tend to have, but based on my experience, it is an issue at all stages of business. Because here's the truth: emotions can be really powerful. We've all experienced that in our lives. And it can lead us down the wrong path. We need to rely on cold, hard facts, and objective data to make more informed decisions. And that really means taking a good look at metrics that maybe we're not used to looking at, like conversion rates, engagement levels, click through rates. And by doing so we can identify what's working and what's not, and adjust our strategies accordingly. So that's what I will be sharing with you today in this episode. Stick with me if this is something that you know, you want to get better at! As an entrepreneur who has seen extreme highs and the lowest of lows in the last 20 years, most, if not all of my most stressful moments have been rooted in the topic of money. I remember when I was in my late 20s, I was at a Vistage meeting, which is a local CEO network of seven figure and eight figure business owners. And there was a moving company owner who was a veteran. And he had said that during the Gulf invasion, jumping out of planes was actually less stressful than what he was currently experiencing and not being able to make payroll. That always stuck with me, as it was strangely reassuring that we all experienced that financial stress. I currently have the strongest business I've ever had financially. And that's mainly because I spent the first 15 years of being an entrepreneur, honestly, just trying to figure out the money part. And money is a hot topic right now. The stock market is about to go on sale, inflation is increasing, there's talks of layoffs at this time of recording. So today, I want to share with you my biggest lessons learned from my most favorite book called The Psychology of Money. Stick around to hear more. In the internet marketing world, we tend to be hyper focused on the front end and don't stop to think about the leaky back end until we get to a certain point where we realize that we are filling this bucket, and then all of the water is just pouring out of the bottom. This usually happens when you cross the six-figure mark and start creeping towards seven-figures. Today my guest was my very best friend, Shana Bresnahan, Community & Retention Strategist. She helps people with online programs, courses, memberships, group programs to enhance experience. Shana and I talked about: The philosophy she used to build her whole business What to do if people don't feel safe in a community Mistakes people make when creating a community Tune into this episode to hear about the strategies and tools Shana uses to fix those leaky buckets and how you can best use them to benefit your business. Something you might not know about me is that over the last few years I've been building a successful consultancy that serves both financially prosperous for-profit seven and eight figure brands, as well as nonprofit organizations. While nonprofits have this incredible value of being mission driven, they tend to struggle with driving awareness and lack the systems to predictably increase enrollments. By applying methods typically reserved for the for profit businesses, we've been able to create something really unique and effective. Among my many clients is the University of Notre Dame's Lab for Economic Opportunity. This is an incredible partnership that applies what I have learned in the for-profit world into the nonprofit sector. For all of the for profit minded folks who are tuning in-this is a fascinating look at how nonprofits are embracing tried and true for-profit strategies to power up their lead generation. This is a rebroadcast of a LinkedIn live where I spoke with Heather Reynolds, Managing Director at Wilson Sheehan Lab for Economic Opportunities and Dave Keil, President of Franworth about the work that we're doing. In a recent article on LinkedIn News called 41 Big Ideas That Will Change Our World in 2023, number 21 was that social media users will turn their back on the algorithm. Turned off by the trolls and burnt out by the pressure of chasing likes, consumers will begin to reconsider their relationship with big social networks and smaller sites will start gaining popularity. These will create the safe spaces people really miss from the early days of the internet. And they want to go back to those intimate digital environments. This transitions nicely into what I predict will be the third trend that you really need to be aware of when marketing your business in 2023, which is a truth more than it is a trend. And that is the magic of human connection. I believe that it's the results that come through connection that's often missing from most marketing and sales efforts. And as a result, people are struggling, their launches aren't doing as well and enrollments are down. They think it's because of the way in which the world has changed in the last few years, and they're not wrong. But most importantly, what's often missing from this analysis is how much of the marketing and sales efforts that have taken place online in the last few years has become extremely impersonal and dehumanized. So in today's podcast episode, I'll be sharing with you the third and final truth that you need to know about marketing your business and 2023 and beyond. According to the National Council for Behavioral Health, over 70% of adults in the United States have experienced some kind of traumatic event at least once in their lives. A very severe reaction to traumatic events can stem from childhood abuse or neglect, war and other forms of violence, physical, emotional, or sexual abuse, accidents, natural disasters, grief and loss, witnessing violence, cultural, intergenerational and historical trauma and medical interventions. I think about this often in my marketing, as funny as that may sound - because there is very much a connection between the two. Many people experienced extreme trauma during the pandemic. They lost people that they loved, or at least knew of somebody who lost somebody that they love. So when we're marketing, and we're selling to the general public, it's important for us to know and realize that we are selling to people who've experienced trauma. And as a marketer, I try to stay as trauma informed as possible. So how do we operate as marketers with integrity in this post traumatic world that we are living in? How do we approach things so that we are not only helping and creating a new possibility for people who might not even know what's on the other side of their healing, but that we're calling them forward in a way that is relevant, that has a high level of integrity and is helpful? I want to share with you some of my thoughts around this topic in this episode. In the midst of preparing for my book launch, recording these podcast episodes, and being a guest on other podcasts, I've had some heart stopping conversations that have really made me pause. People are so consumed with the pressure to spend a lot of time on social media and because of everything that they're seeing, it's making them question if it's even worth building a business at all. Some are so overwhelmed with trying to keep up with all of the demands and forge all of the paths forward, that they are ready to burn it to the ground. They're seeing it as a race to grow their business. The “not enoughness" and the worry if they're doing it right and whether or not they're giving it the correct effort overwhelmed them because in their view, they've failed unless they can make enough money. So in this last episode of my Win Win book series, I will discuss the secret to authentic growth. For a limited time, if you preorder the book, you will receive a relationship marketing toolkit free of cost (valued at $1,200). Head to createyourwinwin.com and click on the preorder button. Then, go back to the website, put in your order number and look for your free training in your inbox.
The visibility stage of relationship marketing will be one of your most effective, lucrative and impactful efforts that you can do for your business. So why is it that so many business owners tend to obsess over fans, followers and likes on social media and worry more about the reach of their most recent Instagram real then nurturing key relationships? The reason is that most people just aren't pursuing relationship marketing in the right way. They give up quickly and move on to the next marketing trend. The result? Many businesses are fantastic and make their customers happy. But those same companies tend to be the best kept secret around because they struggled to gain visibility or they think that visibility is only made possible through significant public relations investments. So, tune into this episode, the third in my Win Win podcast series, to hear about gaining visibility through partnerships. For a limited time, if you preorder the book, you will receive a relationship marketing toolkit free of cost (valued at $1,200). Head to createyourwinwin.com and click on the preorder button. Then, go back to the website, put in your order number and look for your free training in your inbox.
