Growing up feeling different - with Despina Hapeshis

Play Episode Listen Later May 10, 2020 61:58

It was difficult to be a normal teen for Despina Hapeshis (or Des, for short), particularly because she was a refugee. Eyes were always on her and bullies often made fun of her background.  To be truthful to yourself and to live your life when so many saw you differently was difficult. In this episode of the Raising Successful Kids Podcast, we hear more of Des’ personal stories and even her passion project turned business, the Transforme Fitness. It’s through Transforme that she helps people achieve transformations in their lives and relationships. Learn more about how she was able to keep her chin up whilst growing up differently and how she continues to inspire others by listening in today. KEY TAKEAWAYS Des was born in Cyprus, but she and her family had to seek refuge from different countries during her childhood. It was in 1999 when she and her family moved to England and then stayed there for good. Contrary to most refugees, Des, as an extrovert, got along well with other people easily. There was a culture shock at first, but she was always adaptable and ready to learn. Being surrounded by other Cypriots in her neighbourhood helped a lot. Though Des became a medical doctor, she didn’t feel that was where she should be. She was happy that she was helping others, but felt there was something else out there for her. Then, she discovered Zumba. At first, she was only planning Zumba to be a side hobby, but it crossed her mind that she could do this for the rest of her life, she could train others and help them achieve their fitness goals. So this is what she did. It made her happy to see others being the best versions of themselves. Influencing a community involves responsibility and compassion. It’s the people who should be at the centre of your cause, not you. The priority lies in bettering them, guiding them to attain their transformation. Everything else is will follow—the fulfilment, success, and even wealth. For kids, it’s important to not to pamper them. While, yes, parents and educators are big influences, keep enough distance for them to discover and find their values and skills. It is also important to instil some discipline and responsibility as early as possible. Success leaves clues. It’s easy to learn from other people’s journeys. You can tweak it according to your needs and capabilities. It should be easy to do this if you’re self-aware and determined to push forward. Des suggests that you find a coach or a mentor that jives with you so you have someone who can be there alongside you. BEST MOMENTS “The wealth will come but the wealth is not just money.” - Irene “We become slaves of our business.” – Des “You don’t know how far our ripples of our lives are gonna touch. So, you have a responsibility… whenever you are teaching kids or young people.” – Irene “If you have an element of faith in your life, it’s like adding an extra ingredient into a dish to make it tastier.” “Never stop seeking. Search deeper. Be open-minded. Your life is your life. You’re responsible. You’re able. You have the power inside you to make your choices.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Listen to the Raising Successful Kids Podcast on Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/raising-successful-kids-podcast/id1378597983 Take the course Lose Weight, Tone Up and Balance Your Hormones on Udemy: https://www.udemy.com/course/lose-weight-tone-up-and-balance-your-hormones/ Book a Zumba class with Despina Hapeshis: https://www.zumba.com/en-US/profile/despina-hapeshis/108551 ABOUT THE GUEST Despina Hapeshis runs Transforme Fitness. Elaina Jones interview

Play Episode Listen Later Apr 26, 2020 54:17

How is it lately being stuck with your kids 24/7? For some, the current living situation might be very difficult and also have a significant impact on family dynamics. In this episode of Raising Successful Kids Podcast, Irene talks to Elaina Jones about how parents and children can cope together during this very worrying and stressful period. Irene also reminds us that it’s important to keep a check on our mental health and maintain healthy relationships. Tune in as she gives you tips on how you can survive all of this as well as annihilate the stigma of mental health. KEY TAKEAWAYS How can parents and kids cope together during the coronavirus quarantine? If you’re anxious about the pandemic and the new living situation, learn how to work out your feelings and communicate it to your kids. Treat them as important as anyone in the family. Don’t coddle them. Respect their input, so they’ll listen to you. Schedule family activities. This can help beat the cabin fever. Or let them volunteer to do some chores in the house. This way they also learn about responsibility. Social media has its pros and cons. For some, this is where they get news updates. Elaina Jones advises choosing what and who you see on your news feed or timeline. If someone makes you feel bad about yourself, think twice. Maybe it’s time to cut them off. You’ll find the right people (the ones who help you grow) soon. Attend a therapy with your family. When we’ve exhausted every way to reach out, and nothing’s still working out, then maybe it’s time to consider an intervention. Openly communicating thoughts and sentiments among family members is always possible. What are the traits of successful people? Happiness and wellness. When people are happy with what they’re doing, they try to step out of the confined box and take on fresh adventures. They’re aware of their failures and they’re unafraid to face and get through them. BEST MOMENTS “The things that make us comfortable, look at them if they’re making situations worse.” “It takes courage to say, ‘I will not fall for it.’” “Find your people. Find your tribe. Find those who you truly feel good about yourself.” “Kids know when you talk them down.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Listen to the Raising Successful Kids Podcast on Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/raising-successful-kids-podcast/id1378597983 Listen to the Cope Queens Podcast on Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/cope-queens/id1482485234 Listen to the Cope Queens Podcast on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/2EmgzXF4Til5nez4q8omgm ABOUT THE GUEST Elaina Jones is the host of Cope Queens Podcast, which is on a mission to annihilate the stigma of mental health. Strong Willed Teens

We’re in the middle of a lockdown because of the COVID-19 outbreak. And for sure, for parents who have a teenager stuck at home, they might be at their wits’ end right now. In this episode of the Raising Successful Kids Podcast, Irene shares how to deal with strong-willed teens. She herself has been trying her very best to engage with her son, who has been locking himself inside his bedroom a lot. Though we refuse to accept it, our kids will grow up, mature, and form their own opinions. They now have their own preferences and know their own boundaries. Learn how to communicate with your strong-willed teens today. KEY TAKEAWAYS The lockdown has changed how things work inside the house. Irene doesn’t have to wake up that early, but has to do in-house exercises instead. Her husband, who manages their business from home even before the lockdown, likes it though since his family keeps him company. Her son, though, has been spending his time inside his room. Your kids will grow up and mature. Your child has now become more independent. They think critically and form their own opinions. Call them stubborn or strong-willed, but this is something you should be happy about. We can’t control them. There are some things, though, that you still need to butt in for. For their own welfare and safety. Check in and remind them of the importance of limits and boundaries. Openly communicate. Since you live in one house, let them know how important it is that they also be mindful of other people’s presence. Recognise too if it’s you who’s the problem. You might cling to a carefree youngster that won’t ever get old. Face the fact that they will grow up. Instead of trying to relive your kid’s childhood, why don’t you enjoy and be supportive of their new journey instead? BEST MOMENTS “I am not expecting him to be hanging on my coattails all the time, but it has become of a challenge to get him spend the time with us.” “This push and pull between teenagers and parents is perfectly normal. It’s something that we should be aware is going to happen.” “You have to acknowledge what you’re feeling, part of the reaction you’re going through, is because you’re not prepared.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Raising Successful Kids Podcast ABOUT THE HOST Irene Santineer is a working mum of an entrepreneurial child and shares a passion with her husband to see him succeed. ‘I’ve seen people stumble through the traditional curriculum year after year and come out with nothing at the end. Ultra is an amazing vehicle that exposes you to an entrepreneurial mindset’ Irene is with Nathan Shillingford at the Ultra children’s event. They discuss Nathan’s drive to create better opportunities for young people and the events in his own journey that have fuelled his passion for creating the ultimate legacy, listen in and find out more.   KEY TAKEAWAYS I followed the expected route through education and after obtaining my degree I expected I would get a job. I found myself in the world of self-employment through adversity The challenges have helped me find my ’why’ and it’s developing the entrepreneurial skills that will enable our young people to gain experience and the skills they need to move forward successfully. I co-foundered ‘the future melting pot’ supporting young people in gaining work experience and upskilling their existing skill sets. I believe the tradition systems are restricting the talents and gifts our young people have they need an alternative route. Our young people need to be exposed to success and understand how they can achieve it. For me, Ultra is a way of giving back and making sure there is a legacy. We have to show them who they are not what they are. We are learning from each other and it’s an ongoing process. Once you learn you need to be able to apply what you have learnt and continue to develop your skills. It’s about developing the individual. We are working from our passion, creating more opportunities and showing young people how they can create their own opportunities.   BEST MOMENTS ‘The future melting pot helps hard to reach young people gain the experience and skills they need to move forward’ ‘I found myself in the world of self-employment through adversity’ ‘I’ve seen people stumble through the traditional curriculum year after year and come out with nothing at the end’   VALUABLE RESOURCES Raising Successful Kids Podcast Ultra Education   ABOUT THE HOST Irene Santineer is a working mum of an entrepreneurial child and shares a passion with her husband to see him succeed. Irene is speaking to Helen Pritchard, founder of a hugely successful coaching and training business specialising in LinkedIn for lead generation. Helen built a  successful business on LinkedIn leads and now she teaches others how to do this. She is focused on helping others attract the clients they really want through understanding their ideal avatar and being able to generate productive inbound leads. Her approach is different and has helped people move away from viewing LinkedIn as a recruitment platform to being able to use it as a business tool. What she doesn’t know about LinkedIn isn’t worth knowing and in this in-depth episode she shares her story, achievements and motivation. As a successful business owner, Helen knows exactly what it takes to achieve the life you want, listen in to find out how you can too.   KEY TAKEAWAYS LinkedIn is very powerful for me and using it my way completely changed my life and the fledgling business I had founded. I knew who my ideal avatar was - a middle-aged guy with a brick and mortar business who knew about social media but didn’t want to do it so would pass it over to me. I knew what I had to earn each month to survive – my ‘need to earn’ amount I only teach how about how I use LinkedIn for my business. I used my LinkedIn page as a landing page instead of an online CV. I’d been in the marketing space for some time and I understood marketing techniques. I knew that I had to grab attention with my headline because everybody sees that part. I’m not for everyone and my ideal client isn’t for everyone, I wanted that ideal fit with someone who appreciated my direct approach. When you make a decision that something not going well and you pivot you have to be prepared to go all in. The process works whatever the business, I wanted to help the 10 years ago me and I became the LinkedIn woman. Earning money is different when you are earning it in a way that lights you up. Money flows through you and it is high vibrational money that brings energy and motivation. We can use adversity as an excuse or as a catalyst using the energy to do something great. Whatever you chose to do it has to be something aligned with your values that you are going to enjoy doing every day. If I can do it anybody can do it, we are at an incredible intersection with technology and knowledge. Part of raising successful kids is being a role model and my children have always seen me having a full and interesting life. I live my life on my terms and they need to live theirs how they want to. Investing time and energy finding out how my mind works has been a journey of self-discovery. It’s about becoming a master of your own mind. Once you understand you have the control then anything is possible. I’m open and honest with my children about mental health and wellbeing. We are winging it every day, there is no manual that comes with children, but they are winging it too. The key to raising successful children is not positioning your version of success on them and enabling them to be comfortable with who they are and showing up in the world.   BEST MOMENTS ‘You can’t make something new fly until you let go’ ‘Symbolic things and rewarding yourself are important’ ‘The person who inspires me most is me because I understand that no one is going to save me except me’ ‘Money doesn’t make you happy but it helps to address the hierarchical need for security by ensuring you can pay your bills and have a home’   VALUABLE RESOURCES Raising Successful Kids Podcast Helen Pritchard website Helen Pritchard LinkedIn    ABOUT THE HOST Irene Santineer is a working mum of an entrepreneurial child and shares a passion with her husband to see him succeed. Darren is passionate about entrepreneurship and in particular young entrepreneurial people. When he started out Darren didn’t know what an entrepreneur was and after several unsuccessful businesses failed he founded Expert Apps a company that is now generating 8 figures. As a workaholic, he has along his journey faced many challenges and has had to understand what motivates him to move forward. This podcast has something for everyone and is a great opportunity to hear about the importance of sticking with it and finding your own ‘why’ – even if it’s not you are expecting. Listen in and enjoy.   KEY TAKEAWAYS What is your ‘why’ This is a question that is often asked and I have been very honest with myself and others – my why is the need to be significant. For years I was the one who couldn’t connect and wasn’t going to go anywhere. I felt I was unable to achieve, but I have to acknowledge that the need for significance has shaped who I am Blending the entrepreneurial businessman with a family I balance it because in the past I neglected my family and wasn’t present and ultimately it cost me my relationship and living a normal life. I balance my business with my relationships because I know what will happen if I don’t put in the time to keep my relationships going. Staying connected I connect and disconnect repeatedly The hardest thing has been letting them make their own mistakes But I understand that everyone’s mistakes make them stronger How you speak to your kids and conflict management are the key to successful relationships with them In the past part of my problem was my ‘minimum wage mentality Because I was undereducated and thought I was worthless I didn’t think I was worth more than the minimum wage. I try to teach my children about their worth. I lead by example because I don’t want them to only think they are worth the minimum wage. It’s about having a choice, understanding there are different possibilities There will be challenges in any journey and it’s about moving through them to achieve success.   BEST MOMENTS ‘I didn’t even know what entrepreneurial meant’ I was 10 years in business earning less than the minimum wage’ ‘It will never happen again as a result of my actions’ ‘I finally got my wife and kids back and we had to completely rebuild our relationship’ ‘We’ve got to learn from each other’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Raising Successful Kids Podcast Darren Galvin LinkedIn Darren Galvin FaceBook Expert Apps    ABOUT THE HOST Irene Santineer is a working mum of an entrepreneurial child and shares a passion with her husband to see him succeed. ‘They are always passionate about what you are passionate about’ In this episode, Irene's son Caiden discusses his journey with Ultra and the role they have played in the development of his multiple businesses. He has been involved with them for several ways and attended numerous events so is able to offer a great perspective on what has worked for him and why. Also discussed is how technology can be used to facilitate business and develop self-education. Technology can break down the barriers for young entrepreneurs because if you are getting the job done and doing it well then your age shouldn’t be important. The social media space is a second home for the majority of teenagers so running a business as a young entrepreneur has many positives but this has to be balanced with interaction with real people it is a continual learning process for everyone involved. Listen in and find out what this young entrepreneur thinks in this inspiring episode.   KEY TAKEAWAYS First impressions It took time for me to get involved but now I’m able to take advice when and where I need it Ultra provided an opportunity to meet and discuss our businesses with an international brand consultant. A live streaming event by Ultra provided a great opportunity for networking and the opportunity to see what the next level of Ultra looks like. What you could aspire to TAKEAWAYS If you want to be successful you need to be determined and understand when you want to achieve it by. Having goals are vital if you want to achieve your vision and get where you want to be. Having the right mindset is vital. Early on with Ultra, I spent the weekly sessions working on what my passion was and how I could develop my business idea. I was able to build my social media presence and brand in preparation for the launch of my business. The strength of Ultra lays very much in their child and person led approach The students have complete ownership and its inspiring for them. They are good at extracting the lessons from one experience and exploring how it can be used moving forward to the next business. They are always passionate about what you are passionate about. They’ve helped me a lot with the different things I’ve done I couldn’t have done what I’ve done with anyone else The challenge is how to keep young people involved as they move forward. The challenge is once they’ve been ‘Ultraed’ how do they keep in contact with everyone. Could technology play a role in keeping those connections? The struggle as entrepreneurs is achieving a balance between their educational commitments and developing as entrepreneurs The business App will allow young entrepreneurs to connect and network globally without interrupting their studies. My business is built around social media so this is the technology I use on a continuous basis. Technology allows me to connect with anyone I want to whenever I want to. The advent of social media has enabled more interaction between generations people don’t know how old you are. If you can get the job done and do it well it, your age doesn’t matter. The barriers can be broken down because of social media. I have both personal and business devices. I research trends and products using technology. Developing my business is key so I’m particularly interested in self-education that will contribute towards my entrepreneurial journey.   BEST MOMENTS ‘We wanted Caiden to have every opportunity and junior entrepreneurship was a great way to further his entrepreneurial journey’ ‘It was very useful to me working 1 on 1 because he was working only with me and focusing on my business’ ‘It’s not about your age it’s about your following and credibility’ ‘Social media has helped people to connect with big influencers from older generations’ Lots of school homework is set online’ ‘He is a strong-willed person but he is getting to an age where he has to be responsible for himself’   VALUABLE RESOURCES Young Achievers Podcast   ABOUT THE GUEST Caiden Santineer is an inspiring young entrepreneur, sharing ideas and experiences to help you achieve your goals and dreams, however young you are. Ultra Education – with Barbara Chandler

Barbara Chandler came from a primary school educator background, and has seen first-hand, the problems that children can have in the mainstream curriculum. These problems all seem to be rooted in the “why” of educating; such as demonstrating from an early age the importance of learning mathematics, literacy and creative pursuits. Ultra offers a different route, having built a business on inspiring your people through entrepreneurial educational programmes, offering 7 - 18 year-olds exciting and challenging courses of education. Barbara joins Irene today to discuss the many benefits of the Ultra programme, as well as how you can become involved in shaping the minds of tomorrow. KEY TAKEAWAYS Ultra have successfully run pilot franchise operations and are now looking for business-minded people who have a strong empathy with children, to take Ultra education into new areas. Ultra allows the child to discover their own passions and interests, and allows them to realise the importance of certain education paths upon their own destinies. When you’re aiming for anything in life, it’s always best to plan so that you can check your progress, and see your future before you. One of Barbara’s core principles is to bring out the teacher in everyone. As she puts it, “no one is an empty vessel”. Everyone is the sum of their experiences, and is already part way through life’s journey. And so everyone has something to teach others. The costs involved in setting up your Ultra franchise include marketing and training. The training is an investment in yourself, and adds to your personal development in myriad ways. The secret to success is taking an idea and turning into reality. It means achieving your goals and dreams, and surrounding yourself with those who want you to do well. Irene is speaking with serial entrepreneur Fredrik Sandvall who shares his experiences of life and the ways it has shaped his parenting. They discuss the importance of deep curiosity and how parents influence the development of this in their kids. Fredrik talks about the importance of being an individual, finding out about the world and learning as a tool to leapfrog to further success.   KEY TAKEAWAYS I have a huge curiosity and drive to find things out. The biggest transformation for me was moving from leading around twenty to leading upwards of one hundred. Instead of knowing everything you have to trust others to do it in their own way. If you learn to trust others until they give you cause to think otherwise then you can leverage to move forward. I want my kids to be competitive and have a winning approach, in many European countries there is an attitude of entitlement but kids need have a level of hardship in order for them to develop a winning approach. We have used sports as a way of developing competitive attitudes in our children Our kids get very different things from my wife and myself, this is great for our kids. There is a great balance between us and it benefits our children. Money is a taboo subject but if we don’t talk about money how will we learn about it. In our family, I am always explaining how the business works to educate them. To have a successful mindset it is  fundamental that you understand how money works as both a positive and negative Education plays an important role in our family and we have a shared view on its importance in life. I would ideally like them to follow a route personal development enabling them to access accelerated learning. Kids must ultimately be able to find their own way and make their own mistakes.   BEST MOMENTS ‘When you travel you get perspective  and appreciate what you have ‘ ‘To let go and not have everything your own way is a good skill to have’ ‘My wife and I are polar opposites to each other’ ‘My dad is very unselfish in the way he parents me’   VALUABLE RESOURCES Raising Successful Kids Podcast    ABOUT THE HOST Irene Santineer is a working mum of an entrepreneurial child and shares a passion with her husband to see him succeed. When Teenagers say No

Play Episode Listen Later Aug 18, 2019 15:06

In this very personal episode, Irene reflects her experiences and observations of teenagers saying ‘no’ and the importance of seizing the moment when they say ‘yes’ to doing something together.  Childhood is brief in the journey of life and teenagers say ‘no’ most of the time but when you are lucky and get a ‘yes’ then it should be seized and used to create memories and celebrate the incredible people they are becoming.     KEY TAKEAWAYS  In these challenging teenage years, they will say no most of the time because that’s what they are supposed to do.  In saying ‘no’ because they want to be with their friends, forge new pathways or figure out who they are meant to be they are preparing themselves for their future and us for our new world, a place where we are no longer the centre of their universe.  Sometimes when we are lucky we get a ‘yes’ and we must make the most of it.  The time we have with the young people in our lives is incredibly precious.  When we are teaching them how to be successful, to think in diverse ways and consider different alternatives we need to also think about just spending time with them and allowing them to be just kids.  It’s about creating memories and spending time together building bridges and strengthening the relationship you have.  In that time when they are teenagers, when they are finding their feet and trying to work out who they are when they say yes we should grab the opportunity with both hands and relish it.  It's important to just spend time with them celebrating the people they are growing up to be.    BEST MOMENTS  ‘There is much magic to be had with the growing kids in our lives’  ‘We’ve had fourteen summers now since he arrived, and it’s really not that much at all’  ‘When they are young you can't imagine that they are going to grow up’  ‘The time will come much more quickly than you realise when they won’t yearn to hold your hand’        VALUABLE RESOURCES  Raising Successful Kids Podcast      ABOUT THE HOST  Irene Santineer is a working mum of an entrepreneurial child and shares a passion with her husband to see him succeed. Erica Lester, Mother and Rapid Transformation Coach talks to Irene about her journey which began with the realisation she had created a great life on the outside but was miserable on the inside.  Now she is passionate about working on the ‘internal game’ with others helping them to understand their many layers and transform their lives.  Irene and Erica discuss the journey of transformation and how being intentional and living your life with purpose impacts positively on everyone’s lives.     KEY TAKEAWAYS  The process is not always pretty so being committed to your starting point is vital.  I had a lovely life but was miserable, I have completed a long journey to find and live a life that was as good on the inside as it looked on the outside.  It's transformational  to take time every day as see what feelings you experience, get to know  yourself  Emotions,  traumas and past experiences are stored in our physical body as we move through life.  Relieving the physical tension from your body can help to break building emotional tension  Teenagers are amazing people, growing into who they will be  All we are really doing is holding space for them to find themselves and become the person they already are.  Recognise they are not going anywhere you are still their parent. It’s just a different stage in life.  You have to be a consistent person in their lives, so they come back to you  We have skewed perceptions of ourselves and a mentor can show you what they see.  The reflection helps you to bring balance to who you really are.  Your mentor must be someone you can build a rapport with and take advice from.  Live life on purpose - You must make a decision in every moment, as often as you can, about what you are doing or experiencing be intentional about the type of life you want to live and what you want to leave behind when you leave the planet.  Getting connected to who you are can help clarify your vision and what it is your business is here to do in the world, what lights you up?  We think that business is outside of us but it’s really about being passionate and doing what you love.  If you don’t have joy in your business you will not be able to sustain it or drive forward.  In the teenage years, grounding can be important to help individuals relax and begin to spend time for themselves.  Moving from being invisible to visible was the realisation that if I wanted to help people I would have to move forward and be visible.   The concept of being visible is about letting people see you for who you really are and that it may be messy and it's ok to not be perfect.            BEST MOMENTS  ‘Being available to offer support, but recognising I am not the driver of their lives’  ‘It's coming to a point where you recognise you don’t feel the way you want to feel or desire the life you have and are ready for more’  ‘It's transformational  to take time every day as see what feelings you experience, get to know  yourself’     VALUABLE RESOURCES  Raising Successful Kids Podcast      ABOUT THE HOST  Irene Santineer is a working mum of an entrepreneurial child and shares a passion with her husband to see him succeed. In the second part of the conversation with Julian Hall from Ultra Education, the focus is on young entrepreneurs who are combining education and running a business. Irene and Julian discuss how both parents and kids can navigate this complex area not become overwhelmed as they pursue new things,  listen in now to hear this invaluable advice.     KEY TAKEAWAYS  We see kids who have a business and are in school, they are passionate about their business and then we see others who are overwhelmed by it.  Young entrepreneurs are doing something different, something the ordinary person would not do.    If you continually remind the school that your child is also running a business they will come to a point of understanding.  If they are trying at lots of new things they need time to reflect, to internalise, to digest, to work out what to do next.  Give them the tools and capability to respond to change and to keep themselves focused on the things they enjoy most.  If they enjoy it they’ll do it better and that will have enough value to give them remuneration.  The fourth industrial revolution requires kids to have ideas and navigate new ways of thinking and feeling about things.  Our job is to give them a new set of skills that will enable them to do new things to be creative, innovate and think about the things they really want to do and believe that it's possible.  This new era is ushering in opportunity and the belief it is possible.  Entrepreneurs solve problems so when it's solved we either build on that or move to something new.  There is support for the Arts there should be support for kids wanting to learn about entrepreneurship and business.    BEST MOMENTS  ‘A business is often about doing what you love’  ‘Its ok to take a breather’  ‘There are learning opportunities that are lost’  ‘It requires that the parent doesn’t discount what is happening in the world today’    VALUABLE RESOURCES  Raising Successful Kids Podcast      ABOUT THE HOST  Irene Santineer is a working mum of an entrepreneurial child and shares a passion with her husband to see him succeed. ‘If you want to your kids to grow then you have to be there as a support system’ Julian from Ultra Education joins Irene to talk about the exam season and the challenges children face during these times. If you take an aerial view it wouldn’t be out of place to recognise that league tables drive behaviour and exams remain a key element of the education system. In this episode, you can hear about how to deal with overwhelm and the underpinning strategies and thought processes that operate in the context of exams. KEY TAKEAWAYS What can we do about overwhelm? Finding the source of overwhelm is key. If you understand where it is coming from whether it is your or your child’s overwhelm then it goes a long way to making it manageable. When exams arrive, everyone can be overwhelmed and it’s about managing this. If the child is in a stressful environment they will also become more stressed. Exams are one of the first points where children face overwhelm, we can ask whether it can be turned around to be a point of growth as for the entrepreneurial child it can become growth. What can you do when they begin to check out and disengage? You need to review why they are becoming disengaged. The ability to teach and coach becomes vital when they begin to check out. Find more engaging ways for them to learn the topic this may involve looking for learning beyond the classroom and increases the stake and involvement of the parent. Kids only understand their context at that time they have no understanding of the frameworks of life. This means they cannot understand the potential impact and pathway of a particular action and context. Kids are far more informed and know when it’s not working for them The challenge is to provide perspective and apply what you have learnt. As parents we have to be prepared to hear things we don’t want to hear in order to support them. BEST MOMENTS ‘Why should my primary child face the stress of these exams?’ ‘Entrepreneurs often don’t like school they often see it as too restrictive’ ‘They use it as a way of growing and stepping forward’ Giving them opportunities that convention doesn’t currently’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Raising Successful Kids Podcast ABOUT THE HOST Irene Santineer is a working mum of an entrepreneurial child and shares a passion with her husband to see him succeed. Carey shares her expertise and practical tips on how you can ensure you and your children are eating well, listen in now.   KEY TAKEAWAYS Fluids are incredibly important, as humans we are able to go without food but not water. You need to have alternatives that taste better, and smoothies can be an important way of disguising vegetables for children. When coaching it’s all about the client there is no judgement and I have no preconceptions. In the coaching process, the client is setting their own destination. I wouldn’t impose my priorities on anyone else. It is a spectrum and people are joining the journey at different points. I want people to eat well and be as healthy as possible I can help them to do that and upgrade foods for them. There is lots of information available and it's about sorting the information effectively. If I’m asked I am happy to offer an opinion but that is entirely driven by the clients. At the end of the initial 12 weeks, I am often able to move into a pure coaching position to support other areas for the client. This process will make you want to know what is in your food Stop and question - is this a forward or backward food for me? It will gradually permeate your thinking and you will always want to know what is in the foods you are eating. Shopping by colour is a good way to ensure you are buying fruit and vegetables that are good for you. The pressure on teenagers is enormous but it is at this point as parents we have less control and the food choices they make can radically affect all aspects of their lives. Food - Universally it’s the way we connect.   BEST MOMENTS ‘When its appealing they are going to want it’ ‘100% organic if you can. It’s all about how well you are going to be’ ‘It’s about setting your environment up so that you can move forward successfully’ ‘You have to start somewhere; you trust in your client to know where they want to go’   VALUABLE RESOURCES Raising Successful Kids Podcast Eat, Nourish, Flourish Carey Davis-Munro LinkedIn    ABOUT THE GUEST Carey Davis-Munro Helping overstretched, brilliant mums achieve a healthier & beneficial relationship with food for themselves and their family. ‘I made it my quest to introduce the things I needed, take away those foods that were damaging and create the most delicious and nutritious food to reward myself’ Irene is in discussion Carey Davis-Munro who coaches individuals in changing their relationships with food forever. This episode provides an enlightening opportunity to consider the importance of parenting in relation to food, explores our own experiences of food and the changes we need to make, listen in to find out more.   KEY TAKEAWAYS I work with people as a food coach to optimise food and nutrition for individuals. As an athlete I was not aware of the importance of food and continued to ignore what I was fuelling myself with over a period of years. This resulted in several injuries and feeling continually exhausted. When I sought advice, I discovered that I needed to make a complete change to my diet and food intake in order to make myself well. Following my visit to a nutritionalist I was able to put into practice what was required. I work with people who lack confidence, are dealing with other things, don’t have the time or feel they lack the knowledge to be able to implement the changes. What I do is different from a dietitian, different from a nutritionalist but much of my knowledge is similar. I work with people in a practical way, coaching them to achieve the changes successfully. My clients are centre stage. They set their own goals and are central to the coaching process understanding the thought process and connecting to the why. It’s a lovely process because it is entirely client led. It’s about changing the relationship with food for ever and being able to sustain it. You can parent food in the same way you parent anything else. A treat is something that is truly nourishing. Parents often give children foods that they think they want but usually these foods offer no nutrition for physical or mental health and do not contribute towards positive relationships. The basis of everything is the food we eat. It’s about integration and understanding yourself. It’s vital to be consistent and explain why something is bad and why the alternative is better for them. Identifying and understanding why you are making changes will help you to develop a new interest in food. Set up your environment for success with the ingredients for several go-to meals and your feelings of food overwhelm will subside. Food has to be the passion of the day  and you must find recipes that really inspire you.   BEST MOMENTS ‘We get food weary; we can suffer with food overwhelm’ ‘It’s upgraded very slowly and very sustainably’ ‘Integrate different things into your routine to upgrade’ ‘It’s about changing mindset and being a parent in relation to food’ ‘We educate them about stranger danger but the most significant danger to them is food’   VALUABLE RESOURCES Raising Successful Kids Podcast   ABOUT THE GUEST Carey Davis-Munro Helping overstretched, brilliant mums achieve a healthier & beneficial relationship with food for themselves and their family. The Importance of Time

Time is precious. We’ve heard this a hundred times before, and it still holds so much truth. Time is a resource that we all have, but it runs out. So, in this episode of the Raising Successful Kids Podcast, Irene talks about the importance of time and how you can instil them to your kids. Time management should be taught as early as possible. It’s one of the essential skills that can lead to success. Teach them also, as cliché as it may sound, how to treasure every moment and be grateful of the people they’re with. For sure, success and happiness will just be around the corner if they learn the value of time, so start tuning in to know more. KEY TAKEAWAYS Time is measurable and at the same time, immeasurable. We can easily count it by increments of seconds to days to decades, but there is always the feeling that it’s too fast or too slow, depending on where we use it on. Teach your kids the value of time. Teach them how to use it for the benefit of others and themselves. Be punctual. It’s very advantageous to have this attitude if they want to excel in what they do. Teach your child to be respectful of the schedule and priorities of others. No one ever commends tardiness especially in school and in the work place. Celebrate the wins and treasure each moment you spend with your loved ones. Don’t put any time to waste just by sulking or regretting on an unexpected outcome. BEST MOMENTS "The most important thing that we have and we can never get enough of but all of us want more of is time.” “None of us can escape the passing of time.” “Being on time and being aware of what time is shows that we are taking responsibility.” ABOUT THE HOST Irene Santineer is a working mum of an entrepreneurial child and shares a passion with her husband to see him succeed. Topics For a Podcast

Play Episode Listen Later Apr 28, 2019 17:15

In today’s episode of Raising Successful Kids Podcast, Irene discusses key points that you need to know to put together your own podcast that your audience with always love to listen to and never get bored of. Irene shares with you tips on content creation, securing guests, advertising your podcast and much more. KEY TAKEAWAYS How to put a podcast together. Content. There are lots of podcasts out there that talk about content. There's lots of marketing podcast that talk about content for your podcasts. You can look on Google and spend hours searching and reading and you'd have loads and loads of information on how you would put together topics to cover for your podcast, but it can be quite daunting when you're thinking what you are going to talk about. The second thing is to invite guests on to your podcast. If you know people who are influential, either in the niche that you're talking about, or you can relate it somehow to your niche or actually could just maybe do a grenade type podcast where they're not related at all, but you actually just want to have them on your podcast because you know it will be a great podcast. So if you've got influential people that you can get hold of that will be happy to talk to you get them on and get them involved. Advertise your podcasts. Make sure that you promote it so that it's going to be put in front of your audience and their audience as well. Ask the right questions. Whoever you have on your podcast whether they're influential people or not doesn't really matter to be perfectly honest. Just think about how you're going to structure your questions to them. Don't ask the obvious questions all the time, especially if it's somebody who has been on lots of different podcasts. Think about different questions, ask either some searching questions or questions that nobody else has asked. Do research. It is also a good idea if you can think about whatever your topic is, whatever your niche is and do some research about that. Read the recent study and then talk about it. Talk about pain points that your audience might be experiencing. Pain points can be hard to talk about but they are really great to address and people really like hearing how you're managing to deal with a particular situation, whatever it might be in your niche. Don’t be scared to address the tough topics, be sensitive to them, be sensitive to your audience but don't shy away from doing it because you're putting your podcast out there to serve people and it might be that that is what you need to talk about a particular given moment because there is somebody who is going to benefit very, very much from what you're saying. If you're looking to have somebody else on your podcast as well as a guest, think about having, rather than a question and answer session, maybe think about having a debate, think about how you can have a topic and you could put that out to a community that you're maybe part of or involved with and say that you're thinking about having a debate on your podcast, might not necessarily be just one session, you can have it may be over two or three podcasts. Ask them what they would like debated and see how you can make that into a successful podcast. Be real. By being real and talking about subjects that other people wouldn't necessarily want to talk about, that helps make you stand out from the crowd. There are plenty of people out there, there are plenty of people who do controversial subjects on their podcast. So don't be afraid to do it. If you're going to monetize your podcast, how you're going to do that. Ultimately that's what everybody seems to want to do and that's not a bad thing. Think about how you can want to monetize your podcast, do some research about it, share that on your podcast, let other people know about it. BEST MOMENTS “Think about what you're going to say to your guests and how you're going to have that conversation so that whoever's listening to your podcast is completely engaged in what you're talking about.” “Do not be boring by being repetitive because if you are not boring, it becomes a good way of engaging people into listening to your podcast.” “Don’t be scared to share personal stories or experiences, but the level of personal is up to you.” “It's really important, to be honest, and real and truthful because if it's something that could affect your audience then and help them grow, then that's only going to be fantastic for you and your podcast.” “Enjoy putting your message out there.” VALUABLE RESOURCES www.facebook/raisingsuccessfulkidscommunity.com ABOUT THE HOST Irene Santineer is a working mum of an entrepreneurial child and shares a passion with her husband to see him succeed. Latipha also shares her career background, how her business skills helped her in her teaching career, and the reason why she chose to teach instead of pursuing her prior plan to be an educational psychologist. She emphasises that for kids to be successful, they to be aware of who they are and what they want. Listen in to know more about Latipha and entrepreneurial education. KEY TAKEAWAYS Latipha has been teaching in the UK and abroad for over 20 years. She didn’t want to be a teacher; She wanted to be an educational psychologist. Her degree was in Design Technology and Psychology. She planned to be a teacher for a while as preparation for her career as an educational psychologist. But a time came when she realised she didn’t want to follow that anymore since she found that her calling is teaching. She’s got a couple of businesses. She owns coffee shops and bakeries in West London. She’s also a property investor. She bought her first house when she was 18. She realised that a bulk of her time goes to managing her business and her time for her real passion, which is teaching, is not enough. She wants her student to be the best by giving them what they deserve and what they need. Success has a different meaning when it comes to education. Latipha wants to incorporate the entrepreneurial mindset when learning inside the classrooms. We learn more about risks, failures, organisation, etc. This gives them the kids clearer and a more realistic view about success. Latipha teaches kids to prioritise the ‘WHAT’ and ‘WHY” rather than the ‘HOW’. Be clear on what you want to achieve. Planning and execution will be more natural if you know your target. BEST MOMENTS "I want my students to achieve the best they can.” “As an entrepreneur, you’ll know that mindset is everything.” “I went to education to make a difference. Public Speaking is All About Being ‘Present’; With Paul Doust

Welcome back to the Raising Successful Kids Podcast! Are you worried that your kid is too shy or too timid to go talk to other people? It’s time to improve their social skills. In this episode, Irene talks to Paul Doust, an actor, a playwright and a TV scriptwriter, about public speaking and presenting yourself in front of your audience. Discover today how the 3 circles of attention can help you ease your way into communicating with people and engaging them for discussions. Paul shares some great strategies, including ‘being present’, breathing properly, or speaking face to face. These could be perfect for your kids who have their entrepreneurial side and wants to start their journey as early as possible. KEY TAKEAWAYS Paul Doust specializes in public speaking and more so, teaches his students to be themselves, to be ‘present’ and to communicate well with the listeners. Circles of attention: 1st: preoccupation with yourself. 2nd: connection with another person or a group of people. 3rd: aggression and domination. There’s a need for speaking and talking to people face to face. It’s difficult to be present with someone else when we communicate through technology. Paul emphasizes the importance of breathing. Irene is in discussion with a highly successful property investor, business coach and mentor for women and founder and owner of Business Accelerator Mastermind, Vikki Thomas.  in this episode of Raising Successful Kids. Irene and Vikki discuss why helping kids that have an entrepreneurial mind grow are essential to development. They go on to explain why investing in yourself and your kids will be the best investment you can make and share with you how you too, can raise successful kids. KEY TAKEAWAYS Why help women and their daughters who have entrepreneurial minds to achieve their goals. The barriers and the limited beliefs and not believing in themselves its imposter syndrome. All these kinds of negative limitations that these women have, these are some of the reasons why you should help women to achieve their goals. A successful entrepreneur should still think of her own self-investment. This is the kind of investment like paying coaches to coach you and educate you. The growth that it gives you internally and the growth that it actually gives your clients and the growth that it gives the people around you is worth more than anything you could ever achieve in this world. Education and self-investment. This puts you on a different level completely in how you understand how people work or how you understand yourself, how you work and how your brain functions and your negative belief, all those things, self-sabotages that you go through, it helps you deal with all of those and then you could just pass that on to whoever you're dealing with, whether that's teenagers, or successful entrepreneurs themselves. External confidence and internal confidence. The external confidence how you perceive, how you talk whereas internal confidence is very much where you've got these limited beliefs and these barriers, which is, you see somebody else, they're doing that, they're better than me, or I can't do that, because she's doing or he's doing it. It’s imposter syndrome, that perhaps I can't do it because I haven't really spent as much time on it, or as much money on it, or really because of what people might think of me. Why do you only focus on mums and daughters? First, it’s a calling to help these women and daughters and secondly its so that we can recode together because I’m also a mum and an entrepreneur. The idea of everything is for successful women entrepreneurs that want their teenage daughters to be more successful than themselves because, for me, I want my daughter to go and fly. Seeing the success of others should always inspire you to work very hard for you to acquire success as well. Raising successful kids. It's understanding that they are totally different to us, they're not going to want to have the same attributes that we've got, we were brought up to, you know, get a job, pay your mortgage off and retire. Kids nowadays they're going to rent and it's just totally different. Successful kids are to let them lead, they know what they're doing with the right guidance and the right recording and the right love. They can be successful in their own rights. BEST MOMENTS “If you're not growing, you're dying.” “If you're not growing within, then you're dying.” "Self-investment is the codes of reprogramming our limited beliefs and our barriers so that we can actually spread the word, the training, the teachings and the recording to everybody out there.” “External confidence is so different from the internal confidence.” “We can't be coded, all we can do is look after our loved ones.” “As soon as you get proper inner success and you are following your passion, your vision, your purpose, then the financial success just flows to you anyway.” “Children and teenagers tend to listen more to other people as their role models than they do their parents.” “When you're part of a tribe, you're part of a mastermind.” VALUABLE RESOURCES vikkithomas.com ABOUT THE GUEST Vikki works with people who want to take action to improve their performance and who are ready to embrace change in their personal or professional lives.  She helps turn your knowledge into behaviour. She works with ladies who are motivated to do whatever is needed to reach their potential and find their success. Drink plenty of water. This has always been the #1 advice from your friends, relatives, your health practitioner, and so on if you plan to live a healthy lifestyle. So, in today’s episode, we discuss more the benefits of drinking water. We lay out all the necessary numbers and strategies to convince your young ones to learn the habit of consuming more water. Discover how big of a difference it will be – short-term and long-term – to the kids’ routines and discipline. This will help them grow healthy and always have the energy to work for their goals. I also teach you how to make a Celtic salt solution, which my family and I drink every morning, to help us improve our bodily functions – digestion, blood circulation, excretion, etc. so make sure to tune in. KEY TAKEAWAYS Water will provide everything that your body needs to perform at its optimal level. Make sure you drink enough water. What's the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning? Drink a glass of water. Your body gets the best benefit every morning to get you through the day. What’s the reason behind your frequent visits to the bathroom lately? Cells in your body are dehydrated. They're not capable of holding on to the water that's passing through. So, make sure you have enough minerals in your body. In a recent study, the fluid loss of only 1.5% after exercise among young women impaired their mood and concentration. These people also suffered from dehydration headaches. BEST MOMENTS "As a Christian, I truly believe we have a responsibility to look after ourselves because we've been gifted with these bodies." "Success isn't just about money. It's about success in our lives of how we think, how we are, and how we look after our bodies, and how we encourage other people to do the same." What is Purpose?

What is Purpose? Every person has a reason to want to fulfil a purpose and it’s important to understand what the purpose for yourself is in your own life. In this episode Irene explores the complexities of purpose in connection with both business and community. Purpose it is about what is beyond just providing and is integral to how a business should run. As young consumers increasingly seek out organisations that have an integral purpose embedded to further the greater good, Irene explores how young entrepreneurs can learn about purpose as part of creating a business .     KEY TAKE AWAYS Think about a purpose for yourself Life is very short and it’s important to not think you are spending every day clock watching, don’t spend it thinking about how you’re going to get through the hours. At some point in your career there will a time where you’ll wake up and ask yourself what am I really doing? This is the point where making money will just not be motivation enough   What is the reason for me doing this? If your answer reflects a specific or greater purpose, that will give you the energy and inspiration to continue that journey and that original thought, about what you’re doing, will enable you to explore what your purpose is .   Doing something for the greater good Majority of people if asked want to feel they are doing something for the greater good they want it to mean more than just a salary. As a business owner it’s important to articulate the purpose of the  business very clearly to all. This means the business is of one mind and everyone can move forward in the same direction for the same reason.   Consumers, especially the younger generations, are increasingly keen to support organisations that look beyond the bottom line of profit and look toward the needs of others - what they can do for the greater good   The purpose for your community What is the purpose of the community you live in; what legacy could be let for future generations?   The purpose for your business In many ways business represents the best way to bring about change in any community  and business has a responsibility to fulfil this. While the economic engine of any business can help, business that is purpose driven multiplies that influence in ways that are much more far reaching and impactful.   BEST MOMENTS   “Every business should have a clear and succinct expression of its purpose”     “Everyone has a clear directive of what this company is going to do that is more than just producing goods /products”   “Whats the reason for your employees to come to work”   “Every person has a reason to want to fulfil a purpose. this is different for each person”   “Really important in the world we live in to look further than just making money”     ABOUT THE HOST Irene Santineer is a working mum of an entrepreneurial child and shares a passion with her husband to see him succeed. Today, your host Irene Santineer talks about showcasing young kids and making sure that whatever their passion is that they learn how to turn it into a business that they can make money. Tune in to learn about this and much more. KEY TAKEAWAYS For kids, if you're starting out, baking is a good thing to do and then you move on from there because sometimes that market can be quite saturated. Kids have time to test any other businesses apart from baking and if they have the entrepreneurial mind, they may come up with a very brilliant idea that may even turn into a very big company. One should encourage or support their kids if they notice that they have that entrepreneurial mind because they may be surprised by what their kids can do and later become very successful human beings in society. Showcasing these young kids making sure that whatever their passion is that they learn how to turn it into a business that they can make money from their passion. Once they start making money from their passion and they're encouraged to think whether they can scale their business and if they can scale it, then amazing. Encourage your young ones not think inside the box try and think outside the box all the time. Think outside the box think how you're going to make a business that is scalable. This will help them to be successful in their business. Encourage them to set their goals. Encourage them to have a vision board so that they can see what those goals are. And then just let them go for it and put them in touch with people who are going to encourage them, put them in touch with people who are going to mentor them and coach them along the way. BEST MOMENTS “Kids are encouraged to make mistakes so that they learn from them.” “Making mistakes is not a failure but a learning step.” “It isn't always about making loads of money; it is about making sure that they know that they can be successful in whatever they do.” “Success isn't just about wealth, success is about standing in front of people and being able to talk about what you do what and you love.” “Don’t think inside the box try and think outside the box all the time.” “Collaboration is really the key if you want to scale up.” VALUABLE RESOURCES The business app. ABOUT THE HOST Irene Santineer is a working mum of an entrepreneurial child and shares a passion with her husband to see him succeed. In today's episode of the Raising Successful Kids Podcast, your host Irene interviews the professional interior designer, writer and founder of "Decorbuddi" Debbie Blott. She is the founder of Decor cafe and has experienced raising 3 children as well, a 24-year-old son and 22-year-old twin girls. She discusses the history of the Decor Cafe, how it started, how it became successful, and how it has been helping creative people and people who need creative people to make their homes creatively beautiful. They also talk about how Debbie raised her children as a successful entrepreneur. Learn more about Debbie as she shares her journey and experience with motherhood and as an entrepreneur. KEY TAKEAWAYS The Decor Cafe. Debbie is the founder of this community. It is composed of like-minded creative people. Their goal is to inspire people to create their own home or their own home business so it is quite unique. The original concept of the workshop is to help people create something that suited them. Most often people don’t have the time or experience to do that. So, you need talented and experienced people to help them. That is where the network started growing. Decor cafe has a network and a history of interior designers who can help people to create a home that suits them. Creating an environment for a child for individuality and space. It's important that you create an environment which is best for them. They begin to evolve there and develop themselves. It is recognizing and understanding the difference between you as the parent should be imposing on your child for their own health and well-being and when to let go and actually to let them have their own space and universe. Matching people. What they look for in are in their network are matching people who've got complementary skills and finding the right people to help you. So typically, a lot of what she's doing is matching people rather than taking things herself. Bringing up children as an entrepreneurial mom. Debbie would say that a key thing for bringing up her children was very much about allowing them to be who they are and find out who they are and just try and support them in that when. When it comes to entrepreneurial, her kids would say, mum, you know I don't want to turn that into a business or no Mum I don't want to do that. Just in terms of bringing them up. Debbie just thinks the most important thing or one of the most important things is to allow them to be you know who they want to be and encouraging them in the direction that they want to take. Inspiration. Debbie is inspired by everyone around her, her children, her family, and the network that she is involved in the individuals within that are incredible and they've started up original businesses and have the most amazing things. She is also inspired by people who have dedicated themselves to bring up their own children and still find time to be themselves. Marrying business and raising up children. The challenges around both of quite have a commonality in them. Debbie thinks in both cases, you need to be kind to yourself and be realistic and allocate time to each. Frank Gehry. If Debbie would be given a chance to sit down, have coffee and have a conversation with someone, it would be Frank Gehry, the architect. He is someone that has clearly got an extraordinary created brain. Debbie would love to know more about him. Choice of Break. A remote secluded beach. Debbie would choose somewhere probably that was quite rugged remote, and dramatic. Perfect day. It would involve exploring something new with her family. Discovering and experiencing new things together. Raising Successful Kids. It is about helping your children know who they are and to find their place in the world. How they want to contribute to the world in a way that suits them. It's about finding a balance between supporting them in their own exploration and giving them as much possible opportunity and education as you can. Just giving them as much possible opportunity as you can. To do as many different things as they can so that they can find the things that they enjoy. BEST MOMENTS “There is so much opportunity in every person that you meet. I'm always blown away by the skills that they have and the potential for supporting each other developing their own businesses and that was in any way.” “I think it's been a really positive experience for them to have a role model of a mother who is doing something has set up something for herself.” “We tend to beat ourselves up about not doing good enough job on bringing up of children not doing enough... We're doing a really good job. If we are kinder to ourselves and are more relaxed then we will be more confident in ourselves, and we will be more confident in ourselves that breeds more success whether it's in supporting your children or in grow ing your business.” ABOUT THE HOST Irene Santineer is a working mum of an entrepreneurial child and shares a passion with her husband to see him succeed. Welcome back to another episode of The Raising Successful Kids Podcast. Today, your host Irene Santineer introduces a new series of Ultra episodes lead by serial entrepreneur, CEO, and founder of ‘Ultra Education’ Julian Hall. In this introductory episode, Julian talks through the step-by-step approach to teaching entrepreneurship to kids and how you too can follow this six-step pedagogy to Raising Successful Kids. KEY TAKEAWAYS How do you teach entrepreneurship at such a young age? When we first started Ultra Education we developed a pedagogy, an educational approach to how we actually teach entrepreneurship. It’s a guide for both teachers, parents and children to understand how to identify their passion. Practically, it teaches us how our children can take the mechanics and dynamics of entrepreneurship and create a business out of it.   Ultra’s Six-Step Pedagogy Find what you’re passionate about - Once you’ve got them to think about what they want to do, ask them to write down a list of all of the things that they’re passionate about and that they love doing. From here you can get them to prioritise it and get them to tell you what’s most important to them. Do your research - The research is really important, it enables you to find a way or an angle of doing things differently and creating a revenue stream from it. Try and find the method or approach that works well with that child and find a nice within a niche. SImply by researching online, you can find a business model or revenue options to connect your child's passion and create a business from it.   Creating a product or service - Understanding whether you're going to make a product or service is important. Realise that the product or service has to fit your customer and serve a purpose. Some kids enjoy the hands-on experience of providing a service and some kids prefer creating a product and finding your audience. Have them do both and find out which they prefer and which they're interested in. Research again - Now you know what offering you're providing you can go back to your research and decide if you're providing a low, medium or high-end product or service. Ensure your kids understand the value of their time and place a value on how they are spending it. From here they can start to put into context how long it takes to provide their product or service and account for this in the profit/costing of the product. Do things in a cost-effective manner, but realise the value of the time it takes to create. Method of sale - How is the product or service going to be sold and communicated to the audience. With social media, we can start instantly and sell from social profiles. Using things like Shopify and Godaddy you can start selling product and services right away and at a low cost. Do they enjoy it? - One of the main motivating factors will be if your child enjoys it. Make sure there is enough profit in there that they find it worthwhile and that this is the business venture you want to proceed with. At this point, it is still an assumption. Selling the product or service qualifies the assumption and shows us that there is a tangible return for their time and effort. Our kids need to experience selling and earning a profit because they can relate to it and they can understand it.  After working through the pedagogy you'll be able to evaluate the process and see if your kids want to continue and really make a business out of it. BEST MOMENTS “Do what you love and aim to make money from it. There’s a business behind almost anything and it’s driven from passion.” “There’s a good chance the niche that you select, there’s isn't a young entrepreneur already doing it.” “With a service, you can only make money if you're delivering it. So it can be easier to make and monetise a product.” "We’ve not been taught to be introspective, but when we ask our children to tell us what they want to be, and what they would like to do. It’s an introspective question." ABOUT THE HOST Irene Santineer is a working mum of an entrepreneurial child and shares a passion with her husband to see him succeed. Irene offers tips to ensure that any traveller can use to protect themselves when away. KEY TAKEAWAYS Savvy Travellers Checklist: Most people think they are ‘savvy’ about travelling, but most are not. Be prepared when embarking on any travel. Preparation and research can be done by anyone and helps greatly when visiting other countries Make sure you have a list of contact numbers such as the local police Find out about the popular scams being carried out in the place you are visiting Have an emergency plan and make sure people know what it is. Always arrange to check in with people at home. Lock up your valuables and find a ‘secret place’ like a lipstick container to store emergency cash. Remember to find out what the local people wear and dress in the same way so that you don’t draw attention to yourself as a tourist. Implementing these tips will help ensure that any traveller is a happy traveller. BEST MOMENTS “Always do a lot of research, to get the most out of the area” “Everyone thinks they are savvy- maybe you’re not as savvy as you think you are” “The world is a beautiful place, these people just go to work on other people” “These things do happen it’s better to be savvy about it” VALUABLE RESOURCES Evernote WhatsApp ABOUT THE HOST Irene Santineer is a working mum of an entrepreneurial child and shares a passion with her husband to see him succeed. Julian and Irene discuss how the kids of today, are not being fulfilled and prepared for society. Julian says we need to be more entrepreneurial as a society, we need to look at problems quicker more innovatively and be able to teach the next generation to make an impact. Discover how ‘Ultra Educations’ teaches entrepreneurship, critical thinking, resilience, communication, leadership and teamwork and why entrepreneurship can be taught and nurtured in all kids if you give them the opportunity. Julian talks about one of the secrets to success, consistency. If you love what you're doing it doesn't feel like work and if you attach what you love to some kind of financial income you are an entrepreneur. ‘Ultra Education’ is going global, creating opportunities for kids and allowing them the chance to be successful. The vision is that all children and young people regardless of background or social standing have access to essential entrepreneurial education. KEY TAKEAWAYS We are entering a 4th industrial revolution we are seeing changes happen to society. 60% of primary school kids will go into jobs that aren’t even invented yet. Ultra is on a mission to provide those kids with the tools to adapt to change, to be successful and to be prepared. Irene: What advice would you give to anyone starting their own business? Julian: Understanding your customers wants, needs and desires. The first thing you need to do is really understand what it is your audience want. You must also need to be able to adapt and be on the forefront of change, respond to the ways in which people digest information. Finally, decide if you are the entrepreneur or the business person and go all in. Irene: What does raising successful kids mean to you? Julian: It means ensuring they are in a loving environment and they are comfortable. You need to meet this as a baseline in order to express confidence and entrepreneurship. BEST MOMENTS "I've had entrepreneurship in my life to help navigate the challenges I've had" "Help the next generation embrace entrepreneurship and develop the skills that will need to be successful" "The reason why lots of people are turned off from business is that adults make it boring" "I’ve explored every type of business in every type of sector, I’ve started 15 different types of business and they've mostly failed” “Societal thinking has remained the same, we need to adopt a different way of thinking in order to solve older social problems.” “Sometimes parents are managing the growth of their kids instead of loving them and raising them.” VALUABLE RESOURCES https://ultra.education/ info@ultra.education https://www.facebook.com/theultrapreneur/ ABOUT THE HOST Irene Santineer is a working mum of an entrepreneurial child & shares a passion with her husband, to see children succeed. Welcome to another episode of The Raising Successful Kids Podcasts. Your host Irene Santineer interviews entrepreneurial mum Veronika Sam to discuss how she has raised one of the UK’s youngest motivational speakers, authors and entrepreneur, 11 years old ‘Inspiring Vanessa’   Veronika Sam is an entrepreneur herself creating a network marketing business as well as pursuing her passion for nutrition, health and fitness. As a single mum, Veronika has helped Vanessa learn and grow, creating an entrepreneurial environment and instilling confidence in her from a young age.   Discover how to surround yourself with positive people, be organised and have the confidence to merge your passion and profession.   KEY TAKEAWAYS When you're an entrepreneurial parent and instil entrepreneurial traits in your child they are more likely to go on and seek out an entrepreneurial path. A lot of people are looking up to celebrities, but no one is actually showing them how to have confidence. You are a parent supporting your children, the kids are not doing it on their own. They need a supportive environment to allow them to flourish.   Irene: What is the key to a sustainable business Veronika: A lot of people talk about relationships, and it's essential that you maintain relationships with your customers, your colleagues and everyone you deal with.   Irene: What inspires you to carry on? Veronika: When you don't see a result, most people, they give up straight away. For us, if we only inspire one person each day it's worth it. Keep going when it gets hard and see the light at the end of the tunnel.   Irene: What does Raising Successful Kids mean to you? Veronika: My journey started 3 years ago and really I think that my daughter would have still seen these celebrities and entrepreneurs, but she would never have known she could be doing it for herself.     BEST MOMENTS "She is a child and she is doing what she loves." “Children are worth something and have the ability to do anything they want.” "If you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life" "Seeing her on stage makes me proud, I can't believe that's my child." "Getting paid for doing what you love is a bonus." “You need to be passionate and love what you do in order to create consistency.” "There will be that tipping point, when things start to happen.   VALUABLE RESOURCES Young Achievers Podcast https://omny.fm/shows/young-achievers/playlists/podcast   ABOUT THE HOST Irene Santineer is a working mum of an entrepreneurial child & shares a passion with her husband, to see children succeed. What To Do When Things Go Wrong

When life throws you some curve balls, what do you do? For an adult who has experienced much ups and downs in his life, this will be easy to answer. But how about for a kid? What do we do or tell them when knockbacks happen? On today’s episode, Irene discusses tips and strategies we could teach our kids how to deal with unforeseen events or just simple stuff that didn’t go as they want to. Know also that your behaviour when dealing with a difficult situation is mirrored by them. So be conscious of what the kid sees in you when you’re having a tough time. If you panic and lash out at someone, then that wouldn’t be the best for the kid. Be calm and have composure through tough times. KEY TAKEAWAYS Don’t be a half-glass-empty kind of person. Don’t panic. Tell your kids to look onto the positive, don’t think about the negative. There should be upside on everything’s that happening. Don’t wallow. Your kid will learn from it and will try to avoid what caused it next time. There are people on your side; you’re not alone. Make your kid feel that the burden or sadness his feeling can be dealt if he shares it with his family and friends. Sometimes, a kid tends to lash out on others what they’re feeling. Talk to him. Tell him what he can do about it. Be realistic and accept it. Try to control only what is happening rather than what’s beyond control. Stick to the future rather than thinking about the future and dwelling on the past. Tell them that it’s part of growing up. We just have to accept and don’t try to overanalyze it. Find simple pleasures in life. Get some fresh air or let them play to keep their body moving. This would help them think clearer also on how to deal with it. Start writing down about the positive things that happened in your life and maybe, you could look at them later to not feel a BEST MOMENTS “Happiness is a result of your approach to life, not what happens to you.” “The way you behave is the mirror of how the kids in your care or home are gonna behave.” “Focus on what has been, not what is happening.” “Those bad times are not gonna define you but your approach to it will.” ABOUT THE HOST Irene Santineer is a working mum of an entrepreneurial child & shares a passion with her husband, to see children succeed. Welcome to another episode of The Raising Successful Kids Podcasts. Your host Irene Santineer welcomes fellow successful mum Sam to discuss how to raise kids with an entrepreneurial mindset in this new series of 'In conversation with' Simply social skills implemented from a young age can help to form professional manners, things such as eating at the table and holding a conversation from a young age can help to build confidence and create a learning mentality. Irene and Sam discuss the need to educate your children and why it is important to always encourage learning. As a parent you have an obligation to help your child think differently, the challenges you lay as a parent to help your child are so integral, that they become routine and your child begins to think differently. Understand that you must encourage and not push your children to success and ensure you learn the techniques to help your child to switch off, when not to be creative or to learn and when to simply relax.  Your responsibility is to arm your child with all the tools to be successful, and then it’s up to them how they use them in life. Learn how to teach your child to see everyone's point of view and become non judgemental, as empathy can be a key component to success. Finally ensure you are instilling drive and passion into your children’s lives, so they can be happy and in future turn a hobby into a job and merge both passion and profession and inspire you as you inspire them. KEY TAKEAWAYS How avoid being shy, having a lack of confidence and encourage having no fear How not to be reserved and why that holds you back Why you should always encourage and not push How to feed the mentality to want to learn by relaxing with a book and learn by osmosis How to be inspired by your children and learn from them, as they learn from you BEST MOMENTS Manners aren't just please and thank you it's sitting at the table and holding a conversation “There’s no better gift than being inspired by your children and in turn inspiring them” What do you do to channel your child’s busy mind? - Encourage reading and learning materials. Do you solve your child's problems when they come to you? - No children should attempt to solve problems themselves first. What does Raising Successful Kids mean to you? - Options, it means giving your child options and the opportunity to think about things different.   VALUABLE RESOURCES Young Achievers Podcast https://omny.fm/shows/young-achievers/playlists/podcast ABOUT THE HOST Irene Santineer is a working mum of an entrepreneurial child & shares a passion with her husband, to see children succeed. Leaving Your Comfort Zone

DESCRIPTION Challenging your child is part of guiding and supporting them. Does it sound cruel? It shouldn’t if you do it appropriately. Challenging them means believing in them and encouraging them to leave their comfort zone. Besides, do you know any successful entrepreneurs who wished to be stagnant in one place? On today’s episode, Irene will discuss how to help your kids reach more of their goals and leave their comfort zone. How could they come to the realisation of their goals if they don’t try? Learn from Irene how you could teach them how to be confident in gearing towards their goals. KEY TAKEAWAYS Here are things you could tell your kid on how to convince him to leave his comfort zone: “It’s going to be scary but you have to face your fear.” There’s a quote that’s very apt for this – “Comfort zone is a beautiful place but nothing ever grows there.” The first step is to let them acknowledge they have to leave it and act now! “You will fail you will learn and be confident.” Not everyone is gonna hit it the first time, anyways. Failure is a difficult thing to understand for kids. You just have to be there to tell him that it’s part of the process. You learn a lot and gain confidence if failure happens. “Continue to challenge yourself.” The comfort zone also expands and grows, so a person also has to continue getting away from it. There are more opportunities and experiences that could happen if they continue to push themselves. BEST MOMENTS “Being able to set a goal and achieving it is an amazing feeling.” “You learn more from failures than you ever will from successes.” “Do not let fear take hold of you and stop you.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Young Achievers Podcast (https://omny.fm/shows/young-achievers/playlists/podcast) ABOUT THE HOST Irene Santineer is a working Mum of an entrepreneurial child & shares a passion, with her husband, to see children succeed.
