Video Version Only on HCPLive! In this episode of Diabetes Dialogue, hosts Diana Isaacs, PharmD, an endocrine clinical pharmacist, director of Education and Training in Diabetes Technology, and codirector of Endocrine Disorders in Pregnancy at the Cleveland Clinic, and Natalie Bellini, DNP, program director of Diabetes Technology at University Hospitals Diabetes and Metabolic Care Center, discuss the top-line results from the ACHIEVE-1 trial evaluating orforglipron—an investigational, once-daily oral glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist (GLP-1 RA) developed by Eli Lilly—for adults with type 2 diabetes (T2D) inadequately controlled by diet and exercise. Isaacs and Bellini emphasized the clinical significance of orforglipron's Phase 3 data in the ACHIEVE-1 trial, which demonstrated substantial reductions in A1c (1.3–1.6%) from a baseline of 8.0% and notable weight loss averaging 16 pounds (7.9%) at the highest dose over 40 weeks. Impressively, more than 65% of participants achieved an A1c below 6.5%, meeting the American Diabetes Association (ADA)'s target for diabetes control. The hosts highlighted the convenience advantage of orforglipron compared to oral semaglutide, which has strict dosing requirements. Oral orforglipron can be taken without food or water restrictions, potentially increasing adherence and reducing treatment burden. They also noted the drug's favorable safety profile, with gastrointestinal side effects similar in type and incidence to existing GLP-1 RAs, and no hepatic safety signals observed in the trial. Beyond glycemic control, Isaacs and Bellini discussed the broader implications for obesity treatment, pointing to the drug's potential utility in weight management, pending regulatory submission. They explored the possibility of using injectable GLP-1 RAs for initial weight loss followed by oral maintenance with orforglipron—potentially lowering costs and improving access. The conversation touched on the upcoming ACHIEVE trial series, which will explore orforglipron in head-to-head comparisons with other agents, its use in insulin-treated T2D, and future indications including cardiovascular risk and kidney disease. While optimistic, the hosts stressed the need for cardiovascular outcomes data to confirm orforglipron's safety and potential benefits in this domain. If confirmed, they suggested orforglipron could become a cornerstone oral therapy for T2D and obesity. Relevant disclosures for Isaacs include Eli Lilly and Company, Novo Nordisk, Sanofi, Abbott Diabetes Care, Dexcom, Medtronic, and others. Relevant disclosures for Bellini include Abbott Diabetes Care, MannKind, Provention Bio, and others. This year, eSentire is also celebrating the 10-year anniversary of the opening of its international headquarters and Security Operations Centre (SOC) in Cork, Ireland. eSentire established the Sean Hennessy Bursary award in 2021, in collaboration with the Department of Computer Science at MTU, in response to Ireland's growing cybersecurity skills shortage. According to Cyber Ireland's 2024 Security Snapshot Report, the cybersecurity industry employs approximately 8,000 professionals in Ireland, an increase of 8% since 2022. The Sean Hennessy Bursary provides college financial aid, as well as the opportunity to participate in a nine-month internship with eSentire. The scholarship is named in honour of the late Sean Hennessy, a former eSentire team member who was instrumental in establishing and managing eSentire's Global SOC in Cork in 2015. Sean Hennessy passed away in 2016. This is the fourth year that the Sean Hennessy Bursary has been awarded to a MTU student. Impressively, the three previous recipients of the award are all currently employed with eSentire's Global SOC in Cork, Ireland. Each of them has reached various stages of eSentire's Career Development Program, which fosters and supports security analysts' growth through attainment of internal and external certifications, mentoring and progression. "I would like to sincerely thank everyone at eSentire for this incredible opportunity to further explore the fascinating world of cybersecurity, which is a passion and interest of mine. I am also grateful to MTU for their support and guidance through my studies. In an era marked by global uncertainty, it's natural to feel a sense of anxiety about the future. So, this week on Doing Well: The Wellbeing Science Insights Podcast, host Lu Ngo interviews behavioral scientist Coltan Scrivner, Ph.D. on how the practice of morbid curiosity can, unexpectedly, offer benefits to our well-being. Based at the Recreational Fear Lab at Aarhus University in Denmark, Coltan Scrivner, Ph.D. investigates the evolutionary and psychological underpinnings of our fascination with the darker side of life. Impressively, Coltan Scrivner, Ph.D. is in the midst of writing his first book on the science behind morbid curiosity and our fascination with horror, true crime, the paranormal, and other spooky parts of life. Slated for publishing by Penguin Random House, the book will dive into how enjoyment of scary entertainment is related to personality, mental health, and the evolution of our species. In this episode, Coltan Scrivner, Ph.D. sheds light on the surprising connection between morbid curiosity and well-being, sharing that those who practice morbid curiosity wind up learning valuable lessons from their seemingly carefree experiences of visiting haunted houses or spiraling into a rabbit hole of apocalyptic films, leading them to rank highly in positive resilience during the pandemic. Together, Lu and Coltan Scrivner, Ph.D. exchange ideas for how to practice morbid curiosity, especially for those who are unfamiliar with the endeavor. Today's episode is from Mobile Home Park #107 that originally aired on March 12, 2019. Kevin Bupp speaks with manufactured housing finance expert Jerry Muir. He is Managing Director at Greystone working with the Agency Lending Team with a primary focus on building out and expanding their manufactured housing lending platform.
Jerry is a 25 year veteran of Fannie Mae and, during his time as Director of Multifamily Credit underwriting Fannie Mae, was responsible for a 12-state southeast region.
He had dual roles in developing and managing the manufactured housing community lending platform. Impressively, he has overseen north of 10 billion in financing.  Quotes: "You might not have the prettiest homes in there but if it's a well-run community, it's stable, it's going to do well." "Our manufactured housing community, because you've got so much stability because it costs so much for a resident to take his home and move it to another park (I mean it could be in excess of $7000), they're not just going to move down the road like in the multifamily property."
"If you've got a tier 2 loan on the property and you want to do a supplemental, you would get tier 2 pricing on the supplemental, basically."
"Their regulator, the FHFA, basically restricts the amount of business the two agencies can do and they call it cap or uncapped business. An uncapped business is they can do as many loans as they want in that space."
"They really open to more people and make it more affordable for them to get into a home and get into a park, no question about it.

A Ghost Story for Christmas is a series of annual British short films first broadcast on BBC One from 1971 to 1978, and sporadically revived by the BBC since 2005. With one exception, the original films were directed by Lawrence Gordon Clark and shot on 16 mm color film. The series aimed to adapt classic ghost stories for television, echoing the tradition of telling supernatural tales at Christmas. So far, we've covered A Warning to the Curious and The Signalman in Episode 21, Whistle and I'll Come to You and Stigma in Episode 32, and The Stalls of Barchester along with The Treasure of Abbot Thomas in Episodes 41a and 41b.This year, we're bringing you Lost Hearts on New Year's Eve. But tonight, Christmas Eve—the traditional night for ghost stories—we'll be discussing The Ash Tree. Written for the screen by David Rudkin and based on M.R. James's short story, The Ash Tree was directed by Lawrence Gordon Clark. Looking back at Clark's credits, it's surprising we haven't mentioned that he also directed one of our favorite monkey-man TV drama events from the 1990s—Chimera. That's definitely something we should cover, assuming we can find a way to watch it. The Ash Tree aired on December 23, 1975, and featured Edward Petherbridge in the dual roles of Sir Richard and Sir Matthew. According to IMDb, Petherbridge began his career in 1961 and appeared in a wide range of film and TV roles. He's apparently best known as the sharp and snooty sleuth Lord Peter Wimsey in The Dorothy L. Sayers Mysteries. Impressively, he kept working until 2017, with one of his final roles being the voice of a gentleman fish in one of Tim Burton's Alice films. The cast also included Preston Lockwood as Dr. Croome, Barbara Ewing as Anne Mothersole, and, happily for our status as a secret Doctor Who podcast (though perhaps less happily for James), Lalla Ward as Lady Augusta. Barbara Ewing had an impressive career on the small screen, appearing in shows like Peak Practice, Casualty, The Bill, an episode of Hammer House of Horror, and even the Pertwee-fronted game show Whodunnit?. She also appeared in Chiller, a British horror/fantasy anthology series from 1995 that Ross has somehow never seen but seems to pop up constantly on people's CVs. are you two aware of this and should we be covering it?) Beyond acting, Ewing is also an accomplished novelist, with nine books to her name. Her novel A Dangerous Vine even made the long list for the Orange Prize. Lalla Ward had a fascinating career trajectory. Her first film after leaving the Central School of Speech and Drama was Hammer's Vampire Circus. She was close friends with Douglas Adams, who famously took her as his date to a screening of The Empire Strikes Back in the early 1980s. Adams also introduced her to her second husband, Richard Dawkins (for whom she would later provide illustrations for his controversial books), at his 40th birthday party—they were the only two who showed up on time! Of course, her first husband was Tom Baker, with whom she starred in Doctor Who as the second incarnation of the Time Lady Romana from 1979 to 1981. There really should be a General Witchfinders drinking game where you take a sip every time we mention someone in this next bit: In 2019, a modern-day audio adaptation of The Ash Tree was released by Bafflegab Productions. Written by Matthew Holness, it starred Amanda Abbington, Reece Shearsmith, and John Sessions. Get bonus content on PatreonSupport this show http://supporter.acast.com/general-witchfinders. I had the honor of meeting Ambassador John Rakolta, Jr. this past summer in New York City. His name may not sound familiar, but John is a serious visionary who currently serves as chairman of Walbridge, a $6.5 billion construction firm based in Detroit, Michigan. Founded in 1916, Walbridge boasts being one of America's largest contractors with deep roots tied to building automotive and manufacturing facilities. Impressively, John predicted the importance of technology in American commerce and steered Walbridge into the future.Today, Walbridge is a leader in building electric vehicle facilities and hyperscale data centers. But here's where it gets interesting: Mr. Rakolta served as the United States Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates and played a lead role in architecting the Abraham Accords between the UAE and Israel. Since then, the Middle East has been literally on fire.On this episode, Ambassador Rakolta provides an in-depth analysis of the Middle East and shares for the first time how the Abraham Accords were established, how they have been effective, and what's next in the region. Ambassador Rakolta also shares his insights on effective leadership, his personal work ethic, and reflections on the current state and future prospects of peace in the region. The episode concludes with thoughts on national security and the importance of bringing manufacturing back to the United States.Preorder Marc's new book, "Some Future Day: How AI Is Going to Change Everything"Sign up for the Some Future Day Newsletter here: https://marcbeckman.substack.com/Episode Links:Amb. Two cocks are best, in a woman's bed..Based on a post by Drmaxc. Listen to the ► Podcast at Steamy Stories. It had all been rather lovely. Even Sylvie's comment that Malcolm had cum there under his fingernails!Perhaps a rather quiet evening spent in front of the television, but bedtime proved rather more lively. Malcolm found himself being invited into Sylvie and Elvin's bed."You're not asleep, are you Malcolm,"came a voice from the doorway just after he had turned his light off. A movement towards the bed and then there was Sylvie in bed with him in the dark and a hand feeling for and finding his already erect organ. In another moment she was on top of him, and his erection pushed right up into her. Malcolm's large tumescent penis inches and inches up inside Sylvie."Not a lot of foreplay, Sylvie!"Her warm mouth smothered his."This is foreplay, Malcolm! We want you to come back to our bed. I just thought I'd check you were up for it. I didn't get a lot of cock this afternoon. I want to make up for it and be really fucked. Two men are best in a girl's bed." Her movements did not stop as she talked."That's really nice, Malcolm, Are you coming to join us now? Elvin will be waiting."Quite something to get out of bed in the darkness.  But Malcolm was guided by his penis, to the couple's bed. Led with a firm hand on his erection."In you get."Sylvie in the middle, Elvin the other side of her. Tucked up in bed with young bodies. Outside the world cold and still, in the bed all warm and cosy. The two men snuggling up against her, hips turned to her. She could feel Elvin's penis hard against her asshole. Sylvie's hand, or was that two, tickling his penis, his penis still wet from Sylvie cunt. And then Elvin went down on her for a sloppy licking of her cunt. Malcolm kneeling near her head as she nibbled over his full knob.He was not expected to go down the bed. A thing for young people. Rather than seek her sexual organs for cunnilingus, she was brought to him. Presented to him straddling, almost on the pillow. Lovely to bury his beard and his lips in Sylvie's wet place, his lips to hers, his tongue seeking and penetrating, his lips sucking on her 'little man' And then he felt Sylvie's lips, down the bed, once more taking him in, as her hips straddled Elvin, who was lying on his back with his head at the baseboard. It was all very cosy. Father Christmas and his elves. It was not a double oral spurting. Instead, it was copulation. Shared and energetic copulation. Sylvie moving from one man to the other, one cock to the other, in different and pleasing positions all within the warmth of the bed.Her instruction was neither of the men was to come, if possible, for a long time. She wanted a really long fuck. And she got it. Interesting to speculate just how much length of cock she got. If each thrust and out-pulling was measured in inches how far would that be? If Malcolm did an almost full in and out that would be at least six inches each way. A foot indeed. So, three thrusts make a yard. Twenty-two yards to the chain and ten chains to the furlong. Perhaps not that far, but might Sylvie have had a good hundred yards of cocking? Finally, Sylvie said,"Enough, please cum."But even so that was quite a few yards further between them before Elvin and Malcolm in turn did what she asked. So good to fuck in the warmth of the bed. So good to have three of them all tucked up together. Malcolm could get very used to that! So good to, finally, follow Elvin into Sylvie's vagina, she on her back, Malcolm on top and not just engage in the motions of sexual intercourse but to keep going past the point of stopping and withdrawing, and then feeling his spunk spurting out into the girl squashed beneath him. Lovely to lie there feeling his penis subside and then turn over and drop into a deep sleep, rather tired and 'shagged out.'It had snowed in the night as it had the previous afternoon. Malcolm judged they could still get away on the morrow but probably not if it snowed again. He was up early, feeling really rather chipper from the events, the long copulation, of the night before. After a cup of tea, he wrapped himself up in insulated coveralls, boots, mitts, and a trapper hat; and ventured outside and down the drive a little way. Perhaps with a bit of clearing the car could make it down to the road. He might get them all working with shovels. Or should he wait until the next day. Pointless to do a lot of work if not needed. Perhaps better to build a snowman. And after breakfast that is what they did. A snowman each, only Sylvie made a snowwoman. The difference was rather obvious, not that neither Malcolm nor Elvin had used carrots for penises rather than noses, big upright carrots indeed (and perhaps lumps of coal as balls!). That would have been rather good. Sylvie's snowwoman was obviously such, due to her oversized breasts and, well, her less than upright position. On her back with legs splayed and, well, if Malcolm and Elvin's snowmen did not have upright penises of carrot or snow (or perhaps a stick each), Sylvie had been rather detailed between the snowwoman's legs, and not just with the patch of moss she had shaped into a triangle! It was funny. And Elvin and Malcolm then had to make a snowwoman themselves, and, yes, complete with that special hole, molded and poked with delight into the packed snow. This snowwoman not standing but on her knees and with ass in the air, yes indeed, very much in the 'doggy' position. Impressively detailed in all respects."Oh, you've just got to!"And it was obvious to Malcolm and Elvin just what Sylvie meant.Just too cold to do that, copulate with the snowwoman, from a standing start. Well, not that even! They needed to go inside and warm first."Start with me and then rush out and finish with 'her', Elvin."And not content with that, Sylvie's idea expanded. She wanted Elvin to do the deed naked.Malcolm got his camera from his bedroom, pausing to undress and put on his red coat. When he returned downstairs, there were Elvin and Sylvie 'at it' in front of the fire. Naked young people fucking 'doggy' style.Sylvie warming her boyfriend up for the challenge. The challenge of rushing outside naked, sticking his hot, girl wet erection into the snowwoman's specially prepared orifice and releasing. It was going to be cold, not just on penises, but swinging balls as well, to say nothing of feet and generally exposed skin. Would the sheer eroticism maintain Elvin's enthusiasm and arousal. Could he really do it?Between the buttons & buttonholes of his red coat Malcolm's penis appeared, growing firm at the sight. He raised his camera and clicked the shutter. Hopefully a good photo of the couple bathed in the orange glow of the fire."Almost. Do I really have to. Can't I just come in here? In Sylvie's vagina or in the warmth of the cottage and by the fire?”said Elvin, pausing. The answer from Sylvie was negative! A deep breath from Elvin, another few strokes and then, hard penised, the naked young man was heading for the door out into the snow. Malcolm in boots and coat came with him. Naked, Sylvie watched through the window.Cold outside, freezing. Though at least the sun was out and there was not a breath of wind. Elvin more than ankle deep in snow and running naked to the bent over snowwoman. Malcolm hurrying after him, keen to photograph the penetration. Quite a sight. Pale blue sky, wonderfully detailed and white snowwoman and Elvin standing there all pink and naked and importantly with his cock up and hard.'Click' as Elvin's knob touched the snow orifice. 'Click' as it went into the snow cave.Gasping, almost unexpected noises, from Elvin as he pushed home. The snow hole probably nothing like as smooth as Sylvie's place. Certainly, a completely different temperature but bumps and perhaps an unexpected twist as he pushed in."Ooh, wow, ooh, wow! Cold on my balls! Cold everywhere.”Exclaimed the young man as his buttocks flexed and he pushed in and out.No hanging about, no prolonging the 'pleasure', straight into fucking - Elvin went for it. A hard fuck, a real pounding for the perhaps unsuspecting snowwoman. And she was then, indeed, inseminated. The cold, the snow or ice, did not make Elvin 'lose it.' A click of the camera as Elvin pulled out, hot cum still dripping down to the snow."Wow, that was different! You've got to try that, Mr Butteridge."Through the window glass Sylvie was watching, her hands playing with her body, ‘jilling' to the sight. Malcolm opened the leaves of his great red coat. Father Christmas had the capability and was about to fuck a snowwoman. And who else, really should do that? Who else should fuck a snowwoman than Father Christmas himself? Perhaps, sometimes, he might get a little bored with his elves up at the North Pole or in Lapland, maybe yearning for a more substantial woman than his little elves. Might his elves fashion a buxom snowwoman for him and sprinkle elven dust to animate her for a time? Might they reach into his coat and play with his great cock, stimulating and preparing him for the bout?A smile at Sylvie through the glass, her eyes though on his cock, proud upright and purple fringed, and then he stepped up to the bending snowwoman. Would Elvin's work have melted the snow a little, made it wet and slippery or might Elvin's ejaculate have had that effect?Ice cold, though, on his body warm erection as he touched the entrance to the snow cavern. Best not to tarry once started. A gasp as he felt the cold slide up his cock as he slid in. "Whoo!" he exclaimed as his balls pressed against the snow. Up to the hilt in the snowwoman. Malcolm began thrusting. Not as cold, not at all, for Malcolm compared to Elvin. Apart from his penis, the rest of him was covered by his coat and on his feet his boots. Elvin had been stark naked. The intensity of the cold was localised, where there were a lot of nerve endings! It had been all around Elvin.Tight and unyielding but he got in and was fucking.Within the cottage, both Sylvie and Elvin watched. Elvin had not hung about, instead he had hurried inside to warm frozen feet and cold pretty much everything else. Malcolm fucked outside alone, if the snowwoman did not count. Stroking himself towards orgasm. When it came it was remarkably good. Remarkably good in fact, the icy cold having a surprisingly pleasing effect, not least the touch of ice to his balls just as the first spurt issued, when he rammed home pushing his balls right against the snowwoman. Malcolm's mouth opened and he let out a cry, "Oh wow!" just as Elvin had done, and he was free spurting, hot cum shooting out in electric spasms of pleasure. A second insemination for the snowwoman, just as Sylvie had received before in the snow. The afternoon again involved a snowy walk. A board game after lunch and general relaxation. It was only after coffee that things became sexual again. It was Sylvie's suggestion that they should be naked in front of the fire. It was a very good fire, & very cold outside the cottage. The rest of the cottage was not so warm away from the lounge or the fire, but beautifully warm in front of its leaping flames. The smell of wood smoke rising up the chimney to drift away in the frosty air.So good, Malcolm felt, to pull clothes from his body and be there naked with his young friends. The implication of Sylvie's suggestion had aroused him. So good to be there with them and not be just naked but powerfully erect. Standing & waiting to see what Sylvie might suggest. Standing there with the equally erect Elvin, his nice little cock pointing up at the ceiling and his balls hanging like a double pendulum."Now, you two, sit down facing each other in front of the fire, then lay on your backs. Put your right leg over the other's left leg, and scoot your asses down tight against each other. I want your cocks together so I can play with two at once."A bit of shuffling rearrangement and then there they were. Malcolm's penis and Elvin's up together and their balls hanging together and touching. Sylvie crouched, still in her corduroy dress, but Malcolm could see up into it, see her furry sex without knickers. A pleasing sight. Sylvie reached and grasped both cocks in her hand, squeezing them together, hardness against hardness.Did Sylvie want to be a sandwich?  She was certainly, more than happy to be spank or fondled up her ass, Malcolm rather thought his cock too big for Her ass. He would not be averse to a double penetration. Elvin in Sylvie's ass and him in the proper place. That would be good, feeling both Elvin's cock through the thin walls and Sylvie's delight at the same time. It would have been nice, but he was not pushing for that, still less to try for Sylvie's puckered sphinker holeSylvie's stroking hands on the rug in front of the fire. Two penises together, balls jangling against the other pair. Good feelings. The gorgeous warmth of the fire felt on the sensitive penile skin, the up and down movement, and that view up Sylvie's dress to her delightfully hair fringed and somewhat open sex. Sylvie bending her head and licking over both knobs together, tongue playing at their openings and then trying to get both into her mouth at once."Too big, too much cock!" she paused, "I wonder?" The girl knelt up and pulled off her dress, so she could straddle the double penis. Tall on her knees & facing Elvin, she reached in front & behind to collect her two cocks.Holding them together, Sylvie lowered herself down, grasping the penises together, pulling Elvin's upwards so both knobs were touching and paired. Hot, wet cunt pushing against shiny and taut knobs but, held together, there was just not room to go in despite the lovely slipperiness of Sylvie's arousal. Her hand slipped a bit and Elvin's cock dropped downwards leaving Malcolm's taller organ to stand 'head and shoulders' above Elvin's. Only then was a penetration achieved. Malcolm's thick organ slid in alone until Sylvie's cunt came down to Elvin's knob. A lovely feeling, obviously for Sylvie, not at all bad for Elvin but really good for Malcolm!"It's not going to work, is it?" Clearly Sylvie meant she wasn't going to be able to double stuff herself with two cocks, she did not mean Malcolm's cock was not going to work, because, actually, it was not far off 'working' and spurting his hot cum up into her! It was fully capable. "Just let me rub a little more. I think I can come against you both."And she did, a double rub up and down her sex. Steady and wetly pleasurable. Not one but two smooth glans penises running over her hard and needy clitoris.A delightful and so warm orgasm by the fire. The girl came down from her semi-mounted position to play once more with the two erections. Her mouth and tongue upon them, tasting herself there, a slippery wet coating to the two penises. And then a double handed holding, one hand grasping cocks and foreskins, the other reaching under and clasping four balls together."I wonder who'll cum first," Sylvie mused as she moved the double skin up and down. Very slowly. It was Elvin. All at once a spurting, cum pouring out of one of the little slits, out and onto Malcolm's penis, running down around his purple fringed head, down between the two penises and onto and into Sylvie's hand. A sudden and additional warm lubrication. Spent and shrinking, Sylvie let go of Elvin and concentrated on Father Christmas' large cock. Up and down went his foreskin, so gooey and cummy yet unejaculated. A cock with icing, almost as iced as a Christmas cake. A strong manly penis not a rich, dark, fruit cake! Was it good enough to eat? Sylvie certainly thought so, her head went down on it, and she absorbed it into her mouth. Elvin's cum and all.Sylvie had said back in Malcolm's room at the department store, when she had sat naked on his lap after her shower, that 'what I do want for Christmas is a really big cock,' and her wish had come true! It was there in her mouth, as it had been, actually, that first time when she had been naked with him. And if that was not enough, Sylvie received more than just the really big cock whilst there in the warmth on the rug by the fire in the cottage. White bearded white-haired Father Christmas poured more gifts right into her waiting mouth.A long and rather copious load, considering; blasted into her mouth. A considerable pleasure for Malcolm as well, an eye screwing up, shuddering release.Afterwards they dressed. For the last time they dressed up as Father Christmas and his elves, and they went outside into the dark and the cold and the still. A clear night, the moon not yet risen, the stars out in the blackness above, bright and twinkling. Great Orion with his belt, the Plough, Cassiopeia, the Great Square of Pegasus, so many constellations, so many stars. The Milky Way as a great band across the sky. So still, so clear, so frosty. They stood still together, gazing. Across the landscape silence and not a lit window in sight. The little party was remarkably alone in the snow-covered countryside. It had been just the break Malcolm had hoped for. It could so easily have been grey, wet, and windy. When it rained there, it rained. And Sylvie and Elvin had been such good companions. Fun, delighting in the cottage and certainly providing plentiful grown-up games! All being well, unless it really snowed in the night, and that did not look likely, they would be homeward bound tomorrow. A pity, Malcolm would not at all be averse to a few more days at the cottage with them. Perhaps they might manage one more game in the morning. Perhaps all in bed together. Another sharing of, and in, Sylvie. Another double deposit made. More Christmas presents for Sylvie! Malcolm rather thought, if he rummaged around in his sack, his ball sack of course, he might find a few more for presents for Sylvie!Based on a post by Drmaxc for Literotica.

During Delainey's third birth (her second freebirth), her baby experienced a true shoulder dystocia at his emergence - a complication that is almost never heard of in home or free births, and can be one of the few, rare, actual obstetric emergencies. His head was out for eight whole minutes before the rest of his body was born, and Delainey could feel exactly where his shoulder was stuck. Impressively, she and her partner stayed very calm and, guided by their intuition and intimate connection, were able to safely get their son born. Delighted to be joined by multi-talented musician, Steve Hillage on the Synthetic Dreams podcast this week  Hillage is an Insanely prolific musician, so there was a lot to cram in, but we mange to cover all manner of things, including the early Canterbury music scene, which Steve was a big part of. Meeting Daevid Allen and joining psychedelic rock band, Gong. Steve was in the classic line up of the group, appearing on three of their most successful and best-known records, including the utterly bonkers but brilliant ‘Flying Teapot' album After leaving Gong, Steve enjoyed huge success as a solo artist in the mid 70s's to early 80s, releasing nine well-received albums, including ‘Fish Rising', ‘Motivation radio' and the brilliant ‘Green' album, which, 46 years after its release,  still sounds fantastic and totally way ahead of it's time. After nine years as a record producer, Steve formed electronic act, System 7 in 1989 with his parter, Miquette Giraudy, who worked with Steve on all his solo records and was also part of Gong. Impressively, they have released over 14 albums as System 7 and three as Mirror System, including ‘Route 77', which we discuss in the interview. As well as being a brilliant electronic artist, Steve is, in my humble opinion, one the greatest guitarist's this country has ever produced. A guitar hero to a lot of people I'm sure  "I don't want to be a guitar hero, I want to be a guitar zero! http://www.stevehillage.com Steve Hillage - The Salmon Song (Live) Steve Hillage - Hurdy Gurdy Man (Live) System 7 - Field Of Dreams System 7 - Habbi

Impressively researched and committed to creating a dazzling, expressionistic visual style to evoke the sensations of exploring the uncharted corners of the world wide web, the film is both an ode to the young, brilliant minds at the forefrunt of cyberspace and an anthropological time capsule of a subcutlure that would aesthetically inform the way the burgeoning landscape of the internet and its denizens were depicted on film throughout the rest of the decade and beyond. We discuss the film's impressive layers of authenticity, as elicited by screenwriter Rafael Moreu alongside real-life hacker consultants (including then-teenager Nicholas Jarecki, who would later become a filmmaker himself). Then, we discuss Hollywood's attempts to visualize the unconquered, uncharted landscape of the fledgling internet, and how the film paints its protagonists as intrepid trailblazers in the same spirit as classic character motifs from the American western. Finally, we discuss the noteworthy landmark design of the film, from its production and sets, to its immaculate fashion, and its pitch-perfect, multi-volume soundtracks of contemporary electronic music.Brazil isn't on Twitter anymore, so follow Gus Lanzetta on Bluesky.Check out Gus's latest podcast adventure The Boku Diaries.....Our theme song is "Mirror" by Chris Fish.

This week felt like two weeks rolled into one. To kick things off, Mary Ann Azevedo walked everyone through Clio's huge fundraise. The Canadian legal tech company raised $900 million at a $3 billion valuation — a very large sum anytime, but especially in this market. Impressively, the company is still growing rapidly, which isn't easy to do when you're at such a late stage. We talked about the drivers behind that growth and how Clio differs from other legal tech startups raising capital these days.Next up, Mary Ann and Rebecca Szkutak discussed Alphabet's announcement this week that it would invest another up to $5 billion in Waymo. It's an obvious vote of confidence on self-driving cars on Alphabet's part, but both Becca and Mary Ann agreed on one thing: They'd prefer to stick with riding in cars with human drivers. We closed out our deals of the week with a lively discussion on a 17-year-old founder and investor who pitched investors out of the stall of his high school bathroom. He just raised money for his startup, Aviato, and his story is an inspirational and fun read.Next up was cybersecurity company Wiz turning down a $23 billion acquisition offer from Alphabet. We talked about potential reasons and looked at other examples of large M&A deals not working out.We wrapped up Equity with a look at digital banking startup Mercury abruptly shuttering its service to founders located in certain countries, such as Ukraine. Founders were naturally not happy, but another fintech was waiting in the wings to help affected customers. It was a super fun episode, so don't miss giving it a listen!Equity is TechCrunch's flagship podcast, produced by Theresa Loconsolo, and posts every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. You will not believe how easy this is! Nick Wood is the "King of Digital Real Estate." He is the founder and CEO of Digital Landlords, a thriving online course community that teaches its students how to create an online “side hustle” that is resulting in life-changing passive income for many of its members. Impressively, Nick Wood went from $60,000 in debt as a struggling entrepreneur to building Digital Landlords into a multi-million dollar business in one year. His mission now is to help inspire and create the next generation of digital entrepreneurs. Digital Landlords now has over 400 students of all ages from across the world creating life-changing passive income through his method of building simple websites for niche services in small markets and renting the leads out to local businesses each month for profit.   Nick grew up working long hours on his family's alfalfa farm, which created in him a ridiculously strong work ethic and a commitment to living by the motto: “Make hay while the sun shines.” At 19 years old, he opted into a two-year humanitarian effort in the jungles of West Africa where he was featured on BBC News after learning the local dialect and growing an online platform dedicated to sharing the vibrant culture there. Nick began his career in business as a door-to-door salesman in the scorching sun of the South. The next 10 years would see him through failed tech ventures that landed him $60,000 in debt.   Nick's end goal: Create a $100M net worth in the next three years through digital real estate… and then spend his time, energy, and resources creating job opportunities for the people of Africa and teaching them how to create sustainable online income for generations to come.   https://www.facebook.com/iamnickwood   www.digitallandlords.com

The World War II historical drama from "Band of Brothers" producers has great production quality and details. Over on Amazon Prime Video, there is a fine new retelling of the famous swashbuckling hero, "Zorro." While it was enjoyable, the English dub wasn't as good as it could have been. And in select theaters, "The Zone of Interest" reminds us that real people can do terrible things once they've dehumanized another group of real people. Making All Births Intended and Wanted: Cadence OTC and Samantha Miller

Did you know that nearly half of all pregnancies in America are unintended? And that percentage skyrockets when we're talking about teen pregnancies, more than three-quarters of which are unintended.  While teen pregnancies and teen births are thankfully at an all-time low in the US, we're still behind countries like the UK and Canada in this regard. A big reason teen pregnancies have fallen so dramatically in recent decades is simply that it's much easier to have access to contraceptives. But as evidenced by nations like the UK and Canada, there's still more work we Americans can do. After all, it's easy for men to get condoms everywhere, but not nearly as easy for women to get birth control. Females who have babies as teenagers are more likely to stay or fall into poverty, attain lower levels of education, have more health problems, and generally have worse life outcomes for the mother and child. I should note that I happen to be married to someone who defied these odds and turned out just fine despite being the product of teen pregnancy, but still, the statistics speak volumes. And in a world with eight billion of us and counting, it goes without saying that it'd be preferable if the only new people joining us were both intended and wanted by their parents. A big barrier toward that end is that if women want to go on birth control, typically they require a prescription from a doctor, which is of course a hurdle, especially for teens. That's a hurdle that Cadence OTC is working to overcome, and we've got their CEO Samantha Miller on the show to talk all about it. (Side note unrelated to this episode: Samantha's is also a plant-based foods advocate and is affiliated with the Good Food Institute!) Cadence has raised $35 million in venture capital over the past six years to bring to market over-the-counter (OTC) birth control pills for females, both in the form of OTC birth control pills and OTC morning after pills. As you can imagine, this is important work no matter what, but especially in light of the Supreme Court decision ending federal protections for abortion rights, greater and easier access to contraceptives is something all of us should be able to support. In fact, just this year, in 2023, the FDA for the first time approved an OTC birth control pills for women.  Impressively, Cadence just inked a deal with Lil Drug Store Products, which services 180,000 retail locations, including convenience stores, to start carrying Cadence's Morning After pill starting in January 2024. Not only will this pill be OTC, but it will be half the price of the leading Morning After pill. As Samantha points out, it's imperative that we make it as easy, cheap, and convenient for women to control their reproductive destiny, which is exactly what Cadence OTC is working to do.   Discussed in this episode Our past episodes on family planning with Your Choice Therapeutics (male contraceptives), Dr. Escar Guarin (World Vasectomy Day), and Family Empowerment Media (family planning in the developing world). Pew Reserarch Center says US teen birth rates are falling thanks to greater access to contraceptive care. Samantha recommends reading The Birth of the Pill and listening to How I Built This More about Samantha Miller Samantha serves as co-Founder and CEO of Cadence OTC, on a mission to increase over-the-counter (OTC) access to safe, effective, affordable contraceptives.  She is a small pharma executive leader with more than two decades of experience in strategic partnering, product and technology acquisitions, commercial planning, supply chain, regulatory management, and corporate financing.  Samantha started her career as a scientist, and quickly found her passion for building new companies. She has deep entrepreneurial experience having served as chief business officer for pharma start-ups InCarda Therapeutics and Dance Biopharm. She also led business development for mid-market ventures Theravance, Nektar, and Onyx, and values her early training at P&G Pharmaceuticals.   She has negotiated and closed more than 50 licensing & partnering agreements with a total aggregate deal value of over $3 billion, and she has led more than fifteen equity financing rounds with total funds raised >$300 million. Samantha holds a BS in biochemistry from the University of California, San Diego, an MSc in microbiology & immunology and an MBA from the University of Rochester.
