After suffering a firework accident on July 4, New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul didn't sign a contract extension. Finally, in our 'Fourth and Long' segment, our host discusses Roger Goodell's tactics for releasing "Decision 2.0" regarding Tom Brady's suspension, Pittsburgh Steelers defensive end Cameron Heyward's new deal, and Brett Favre's return to Green Bay. The show returns to a couple topics from last week's episode, including wide receiver Jalen Strong and quarterbacks Bryce Petter and Brett Hundley, while also opening up new discussing such as the Dallas Cowboys lack of desire to address the running back position in the draft. At the end of each conversation, Wagner and Cassidy share their expectations for the two teams they follow the most closely, the 49ers and Giants, respectively. As always, the show concludes with the 'Fourth and Long' segment where Holcomb talks general draft news, LSU tackle La'el Collins, and the draft fallout for quarterbacks Zach Mettenberger and Sam Bradford. All that and more in this episode of "Monday Morning Huddle".

All that and more in our NFL Draft preview with Cassidy.Next, the show welcomes a very important guest in DiCaro, who wrote a great piece called Five Things the Chicago Bears need to know about domestic violence after the Bears signed defensive end Ray McDonald this offseason. Football Nation proudly presents its ninth episode of Monday Morning Huddle with host Dave Holcomb. Normally, MMH recaps the Hall of Fame class the weekend after the induction ceremony, but this year Holcomb will be on vacation next Monday. So, this episode begins with the host listing the accolades of all seven Hall of Fame players who will be inducted on Saturday. In the next segment, Holcomb updates listeners on Browns, Vikings and Jets camp, specifically on the young quarterbacks fighting for starting job under center. Football Nation proudly presents the eighth episode in season three of "Monday Morning Huddle" with host Dave Holcomb. This week's podcast starts with the Minnesota Vikings and the suspension the franchise handed out to its special teams coach Mike Priefer. In former Vikings punter Chris Kluwe's story and letter to Deadspin, Kluwe included several anecdotes where Priefer said homophobic statements, one of which an investigation confirmed. The former punter, however, still argues the suspension does not fit the crime. Next, Holcomb discusses the highly unlikely possibility the Bills relocate, the feature back for the Jacksonville Jaguars and offensive lineman Chris Snee's plans to announce his retirement. Finally, in the 'Fourth and Long' segment, the host debates 2014 first round busts, the Denver Broncos and the most memorable plays in NFL history. Monday Morning Huddle will return next week, on Monday, July 28th.

During the podcast, the host lists moments ten through six while listeners can find moments five through one in a slideshow article to be released on Tuesday, July 15. On the show, Holcomb explains why fans who hope the Washington Redskins undergo a name change might have to hold their excitement despite the team losing its trademark on the team nickname. In the second segment, the host talks about Chuck Noll and despite his lack of attention through his retirement years, the important impact he had on the league. Finally, Holcomb debates Jimmy Graham's franchise tag, fellow writer Cooper Allen's latest slideshow of the NFL's Top 100 players, and Big Ben and Eli Manning's Hall of Fame chances in the 'Fourth and Long' segment. Monday Morning Huddle will return in two weeks, on Monday, July 7th.
Football Nation proudly presents the fourth episode in season three of "Monday Morning Huddle" with host Dave Holcomb. After last episode's discussion of the NFC West, again this week's podcast begins debating the new huge contract Colin Kaepernick received from the San Francisco 49ers. Which side does it favor more and will more contracts be structured like Kaepernick's? In the second segment, Holcomb takes two of Football Nation's top stories and disagrees with them. First, Patrick Barber lists three teams that should make a quarterback change before the season starts, but one of the franchises has made the playoffs each of the last three seasons. Next, Ryan Hutson names five coaches with something to prove this season, but does a two-time Super Bowl winning coach really have something to prove? Finally, the show ends with four statements in the 'Fourth and Long' segment. To start, Tom Brady and whether he is still an elite quarterback. Then, the draft potentially moving to other cities around the USA and whether fans should believe Pete Carroll in saying that if he could do it over, he would not leave USC. Lastly, the NFL announced it would use Super Bowl 50 as its logo rather than Super Bowl L. Monday Morning Huddle will return in two weeks, on Monday, June 23rd.
Football Nation proudly presents the third episode in season three of "Monday Morning Huddle" with host Dave Holcomb. On this week's show, Holcomb leads off discussing what has transpired over the last week. Arizona Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson did not have too kind of words for fellow defensive back Richard Sherman, and Ray Rice's incident in Atlantic City returned to the NFL forefront with his press conference. The show's host argues how an already crowded NFC West could be just heating up with Peterson's comments. In the second segment, Holcomb analyzes the Monday Night Football schedule by naming the best games, and then the popular 'Fourth and Long' segment returns as Holcomb talks NFC Super Bowl contenders, Andy Dalton's future with the Cincinnati Bengals and a possible Ryan Mallet trade to the Houston Texans. All that and more on this episode of MMH. Happy Memorial Day to all the Veterans! Monday Morning Huddle will return in two weeks, on Monday, June 9th.
Football Nation proudly presents its second-ever Super Bowl edition of "Monday Morning Huddle" with host Dave Holcomb. Just like last season, Holcomb has brought in FN Senior Writer Tom Pollin to help him breakdown Super Bowl XLVIII. The Seahawks defense was flying high in New Jersey, causing four turnovers and scoring twice while also returning a kickoff for a touchdown. Wide Receiver Percy Harvin not only played, but was dynamic as ever and quarterback Russell Wilson was as poised as ever playing on the NFL's biggest stage. But what happened to the Broncos? QB Peyton Manning struggled despite the warmer than expected temperatures, Denver could not establish any sort of running game, and the Broncos defense lived up to its billing by stopping the run but not the pass. Holcomb and Pollin discuss all that and more. Finally in the last 'Fourth and Long' segment of the season, guest star Tom Pollin stays to debate the Seahawks' chances at a repeat, the possibility of Peyton Manning retiring, and the 2014 Hall of Fame Class.
Football Nation presents "Monday Morning Huddle" with host Dave Holcomb. On this week's episode, Holcomb asks guest star Cooper Allen seven burning questions to start the Super Bowl discussion. With all the analysis of "Omaha" and Richard Sherman's "Thugness", it might be nice to hear some actual discussion of the game and that's what listeners get in the first segment. In the second segment, Holcomb makes his award predictions which will be announced on Saturday, and then debates the success of the 2014 Pro Bowl. Then in the 'Fourth and Long' segment, the host lets out his anger about Commissioner Roger Goodell's proposal for taking out extra points and discusses two Football Nation articles with the exact same title, but different conclusions. Finally, Holcomb makes his final prediction of the 2013 season and tells the audience who will win Super Bowl XLVIII.
Football Nation proudly presents a Championship edition of Monday Morning Huddle with host Dave Holcomb. On this week's show, the host dissects the important factors of the Broncos' and Seahawks' victories in their respective conference championship games. First, Seattle sticks to its running game plan and comes back to defeat San Francisco 23-17. Running back Marshawn Lynch had a big impact rushing for over 100 yards, but the referees questionable calls certainly didn't hurt Seattle in most cases. For New England, they did not get any running game going on Sunday and virtually had no offense to speak of through the first three quarters. A near perfect game from Peyton Manning put Denver in its seventh Super Bowl. What does the results of the AFC Championship mean for Manning and Tom Brady's legacies? That, along with why Championship Sunday is better than Super Bowl Sunday and Richard Sherman's post game interview are debated in the 'Fourth and Long' segment.
Football Nation presents another playoff edition of "Monday Morning Huddle" with host Dave Holcomb. On this week's episode, BostInno sports writer Alex Reimer joins the show to discuss the Patriots power running game that destroyed the Indianapolis Colts. Will New England bring the same game plan to Denver? In fact, both the Seahawks and 49ers also ran the ball effectively on their way to victories in the Division round. Holcomb recaps how those teams win as rivals Seattle and San Francisco get ready to square off in the NFC Championship. Plus, Peyton Manning returns to the AFC Championship Game for perhaps the final Brady-Manning showdown in the playoffs. Finally, in the 'Fourth and Long' segment, Holcomb makes his final Super Bowl prediction, picks what Harbaugh brother has had a more impressive coaching start, and choices which of the four teams eliminated over the weekend has the best chance to get to the Championship Game next year. All that and more on Monday Morning Huddle's Division Week episode.
Football Nation proudly presents the 29th episode in season two of Monday Morning Huddle with host Dave Holcomb. In this playoff edition of MMH, Holcomb analyzes all four games from the weekend along with two guest stars. Cold, Hard, Football Facts Official Coroner Justin Henry dissects the Philadelphia Eagles 26-24 loss to the New Orleans Saints and Chad Johnson from thecasualheroes.com breaks down the Cincinnati Bengal's first loss of the season at home at the hands of the San Diego Chargers. Holcomb talks about the other two wild card match ups on his own. Then in the 'Fourth and Long Segment', Holcomb briefly previews next week's games, and discusses the possibility of Ken Whisenhunt to be the next head coach of the Detroit Lions and the likelihood the Houston Texans trade the number one pick. All that and more in this week's episode of Monday Morning Huddle.
Football Nation proudly presents the final regular season episode of Monday Morning Huddle with host Dave Holcomb. This week's show kicks off with coverage of both winner takes-all games in the NFC on Sunday. Say all you want about the missed opportunities this season by the Cowboys and Bears, but both the Eagles and Packers went on the road in Week 17 and won in a must-win scenario. In the second segment, Holcomb reviews the AFC Wild Card chase that came down to the wire in an overtime matchup out west. Talk about missed opportunities, Miami and Baltimore both miss the playoffs after 8-6 starts to the season. Finally, in the 'Fourth and Long' segment, Holcomb discusses Kansas City sitting its starters against San Diego on Sunday, the Saints chances in Philadelphia next week along with the other road teams' shots to win in the wild card round, and the first coach getting fired on Black Monday. Well, Black Monday Eve. All that and more on the newest Monday Morning Huddle.
Football Nation proudly presents this Christmas edition of Monday Morning Huddle with host Dave Holcomb. On this week's episode, Holcomb discusses Carolina earning its first playoff berth since 2008 with a victory over New Orleans, Pittsburgh staying alive with a narrow win in Green Bay and Philadelphia destroying Chicago on Sunday Night Football. Next, the host dissects two what he calls "under-the-radar" teams, Indianapolis and Arizona, and gives his honest opinion of both team's Super Bowl chances. Then in the 'Fourth and Long' segment, Holcomb predicts what Jerry Jones will do if Dallas fails in another winner-take all Week 17 matchup, who will capture the sixth seed in the AFC, and reviews Peyton Manning's record setting season. All that and more on this week's version of Monday Morning Huddle.
Football Nation proudly presents another episode of Monday Morning Huddle with Host Dave Holcomb. On this week's show, Holcomb highlights the missed opportunities each team had in securing its playoff position. First, top-seeded Denver loses to San Diego, but then second-seeded New England failed to move into a tie for first by losing to Miami. Playing on Sunday night, Cincinnati watched both the Broncos and Patriots lose and knew its team had a chance to increase the liklihood of a first round bye, only to lose to division rivalry Pittsburgh. In the NFC, Philadelphia lost to Minnesota, who was without its top two running backs, but Dallas blew a 23-point halftime lead and did not move into a first place tie in the East. The show ends with the 'Fourth and Long' segment that features a discussion on the return of Jay Cutler, the Saints running into blues outside of New Orleans and Jamaal Charles' nearly record setting day. All that and more in this episode of Monday Morning Huddle.
Football Nations proudly presents the 25th episode in season 2 of Monday Morning Huddle with Host Dave Holcomb. Week 14 is the craziest week in the NFL in a very long time with heavy snow in four games on Sunday and last minute comebacks in New England and Baltimore. But the NFC showdowns later in the day stole the headlines with New Orleans rebounding to snap Carolina's eight-game winning streak and San Francisco edging out Seattle by the bay. Next, in the worst/best weather game of the weekend, Philadelphia outlast Detroit behind a magnificent performance from LeSean McCoy. In the AFC, Cincinnati routs Indianapolis to earn claim to the third seed, and Baltimore, San Diego, and Miami capture near must-wins. In the 'Fourth and Long' segment, Holcomb will update you on the latest Rob Gronkowski injury, discuss the last 2:05 seconds of the Ravens/Vikings game, and makes a bold prediction on which team will win the NFC North. All that and more on this week's Monday Morning Huddle.
Football Nation proudly presents the 24th episode in season two of Monday Morning Huddle with host Dave Holcomb. This week's show runs extra long due to all the action from Week 13. The episode starts out with a complete breakdown of the Broncos edging the Chiefs as Kansas City loses for a third straight time, and the Eagles hold on to defeat the Cardinals in the battle of the birds. In the second segment, Holcomb discusses everything turkey and stuffing, mentioning the top story lines from the three games on Thanksgiving. Then, in the 'Fourth and Long' segment, Holcomb debates the penalty that should be given to Mike Tomlin for his foot being on the field during a play, the latest accusations of the New England Patriots spying on teams, and who should start at quarterback for the New York Jets. All that and more on this episode of Monday Morning Huddle.
Football Nation proudly presents another episode of "Monday Morning Huddle" with host Dave Holcomb. In this show, Holcomb doesn't give much thanks as he takes shots at whether or not the Sunday Night matchup between the Broncos and Patriots was actually a classic. Do fans really believe it was a classic or does the media want us to believe that? Next, the host gives credit to Dallas for its big win in New Jersey, but does say the Giants are not eliminated and then previews the Thanksgiving matchup between the Steelers and Ravens, who are both 5-6. In the 'Fourth and Long' segment, Holcomb debates whether the NFL is now a victim to its own parody. Parody keeps more fans watching, but the deluded quality of teams and talent gives undeserving clubs a shot at a Super Bowl championship. Holcomb also rants about the way referees now call the games in the NFL. All that and more in this episode of Monday Morning Huddle.
Football Nation proudly presents another packed episode of Monday Morning Huddle with host Dave Holcomb. On this week's show, Holcomb analyzes the top games of the Sunday with the Broncos getting a must-win against the unbeaten Chiefs and the Saints stay hot versus the hapless 49ers offense. Did the referees make the correct call late in the game when Patrick Willis hit Drew Brees up around his neck area? In the second segment, Holcomb goes to the Giants and Steelers, who captured big wins on Sunday to stay alive in the playoff hunt. Can either of these teams make a run at the Super Bowl? And what other 4-6 teams are mostly likely to make a playoff run? Holcomb discusses that and the Mount Rushmore of Quarterbacks in the 'Fourth and Long' segment.
Football Nation proudly presents another full episode of Monday Morning Huddle with host Dave Holcomb. On this week's show, FN Reporter Cooper Allen again guest stars to discuss the status of the NFC with Holcomb. Hear who each expert has winning the four divisions and capturing the home field advantage in the NFC. Both reporters have slightly changed their initial decisions and have unexpected teams getting the sixth seed for the playoffs. Then, Allen and Holcomb pick a disappointing & surprising player and MVP for the NFC through the first 10 weeks. The show concludes with the usual 'Fourth and Long' segment where Holcomb debates the Steelers possibly trading away Ben Roethlisberger after the 2013 season, the impact of the Titans loss to Jacksonville on Sunday, and the status of the AFC North after Cincinnati lost again in overtime to the Baltimore Ravens. Listeners get it all here on the latest episode of Monday Morning Huddle.

In the 'Fourth and Long' segment, our host discusses Cleveland's three-game winning streak, Kansas City's 5-0 record, the late Sunday night game between San Diego and Oakland and Tom Brady and Drew Brees' matchup next week. To wrap up the show, Holcomb mentions Josh Freeman and how quickly he can start for his new team. All that and more on Monday Morning Huddle.
Football Nation proudly presents another episode of Monday Morning Huddle with host Dave Holcomb. On today's show, we tried to generate more fan participation by asking did people watch the series finale of Breaking Bad or the New England Patriots at the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday night? Breaking Bad may have been thrilling, but SNF got a lot more exciting than the Patriots would have hoped. Holcomb goes over what we learned about each team. In the second segment, Holcomb slightly deviates from his normal rundown and analyzes the status of the North divisions in both conferences. Then in the 'Fourth and Long' segment, Holcomb discusses the Denver Broncos' record setting pace, the worse start for Pittsburgh in 45 years, the New York Giants worse start in 26 seasons, and Seattle's struggles on the road despite winning. Week of: July 7 - July 11, 2011 (Original Air Date - July 2008) Due to the 'Fourth of July' holiday, I decided to bust out an older segment (with an updated intro) that I had recorded back in July of 2008, in which I did a historical discussion of the "Declaration of Independence" and the causes | reasons leading up to our desire to separate from England to form a new nation. I'm not sure if playing an older segment makes me extremely lazy or extremely efficient (I prefer the latter), but seeing how our history as a new nation does not change, the information and discussion is just as relevant today as it was 3 years ago...without me having to record it a second time. ;) Also, seeing how this segment from the archives is no longer available on-demand, it will be the first time hearing it for any listeners who have discovered the show in the last few years. So, to commemorate our Independence Day, I hope that you enjoy this robust historical discussion on the subject...enjoy the show! www.stimulatedboredom.com
