Possibly the most entertaining NFL player that ever talked publicly has to be Art Donovan. Art Donovan. Do you need any more reason to listen to this episode or watch this show? Well, you shouldn't; but King of the Ring 1994 also is the official beginning of the New Generation Era, contains the best 5 minute match you'll ever see between Owen Hart and 123 Kid, and has too much IRS. The perfect recipe! And even better, James from "That 90's Wrestling Podcast" joins me to go through all this tomfoolery! We have a fun time stepping in the ol' time machine for this one; lots of hilarity and interesting aspects to this show. Give it a listen! Thank Friar Ferguson, we’ve come to the end of Raw So Far 1994! In this final episode of the series, the boys talk about yet another “Match of the Year” candidate, Ryan fills us in on what’s so special about Raw 68, and talk about the master of the inappropriate wrestling comment, Art Donovan! This is the last episode where the boys talk about large periods of time; after this, they get to their usual episode format of one episode of Raw per one episode of Wrasslin’ Raw. Oh, did you know that Dominos delivers?
Hello Randomers and Randomites. As the saying goes, I don't know art, but I know what I like. In that case for me, it's a tie between Art Donovan and Art Carney. But moving beyond that, we're joined today by a guest, local Rochester artist Dusty Payette to talk the Rochester art scene, artists in general, a touch of football (though the game we reference has long since passed) and his upcoming exhibition which we urge you to go and check out. Details below! Stay tuned after the podcast for some music from another new friend of The Carnival, Dusty Payette and his band Anchorage Nebraska. We are proud to present their song "A-Ok." Mighty Blue On The Appalachian Trail: The Ultimate Mid-Life Crisis
A member of the Class of 2018, Art Donovan is fulfilling a dream that his mother had 50 years ago. With retirement came the desire to cross the AT off his bucket list, honoring both his mother and assisting her plight by raising funds for Alzheimer's Disease. He's even found the time to leave the trail to become an American Citizen. Art has had quite the adventure so far, sharing time with one of his daughters on the trail and saving the last 30 miles of the Smokey Mountains for his other daughter after she has given birth later in the year. Below, Art is at MacAfee Knob. You can follow Art's adventure on Facebook, where you'll also have the chance to donate to Alzheimer's should you so wish. We also heard this week from Stacey Bucklin, or Stylez, in "If I Did It Again." Stylez leaves us with a memorable quote to consider. Our Merch Store now has a pink Hiking Radio Network logo for tee shirts, hoodies, mugs etc. We hope that you like it. Don't forget to visit the site of our wonderful sponsor, Trailtopia.

Episode 36 of RWP takes a look at King of The Ring. Alex issues an apology to other announcers following 3 hours of Art Donovan. Patrick brings us the news of the week including a challenge of Beast vs. Beast. Plus, we (and the WWE) can't figure out how to fix Raw. Enjoy!
Art Donovan was an NFL champion, a part time liquor salesman, and the son of an accidental murderer. But what he'd most want you to know is that he never worked out, thus earning him the nickname "Fatso." Dan Chamberlain (Above Average) reads as Donovan.
This week on the Lapsed Fan, the “Co-Chairmen” return to the pomp and circumstance of the King of the Ring… But this time 1994's entry. Amidst the Vince McMahon steroid trials and Hulk Hogan signing with WCW, the WWE was struggling to find its new identity and a "new generation" of superstars. Headlined by “Rowdy” Roddy Piper versus Jerry “The King” Lawler, this event seemed more like a step backward than a step forward.Jack Encarnacao and JP Sarro bring their brand of humor and nostalgia to the 1994 King of the Ring, discussing among other things:– Arguably the worst pin in the history of the sport of kings– How hard it was to find this particular show in video stores– Roddy Piper's prejudice against people without a neck– Who Bret Hart claimed was the WWE's most “stunning figure” at the time– Two words…Art DonovanThat and so much more on the Lapsed Fan review of the 1994 King of the Ring, only at WrestleZone.com. Brace yourself… We're about to get medieval.
Celebritymania AKA ‘Wrestlemania XI' is the show being reviewed in Episode 13 of The New Generation Project Podcast Featuring more shouty promos than we've ever had before, Cyndi Lauper vs Muhammed Ali vs Liberace, the history of Lawrence Taylor, the Urn gets stolen AGAIN, Adam turning into Art Donovan, Roddy Piper gets the Bruce Hart award, Paul Scrivens' brother “Seth Rollins” him and your celebrity Wrestlemania ideas. Also, find out the answers to the questions: Who exactly did Bret Hart face at Wrestlemania VIII? What new item of clothing has The 123 Kid purchased? Where did Vince get the idea for the XFL? What is the gravitational potential energy of Bam Bam Bigelow on the top rope? And... WHO'S PAMELA ANDERSON? Plus... SID!
How much does this Episode weigh? In this edition, we tackle one of the most infamous PPV's of all time - 'King Of The Ring 1994' AKA 'Night Of Piledrivers' . Featuring: Marty Jannetty vs Dean Malenko in a court room, the etymology of the word 'beard', possible wrestling names for a baby and the hypocrisy of this being the first PPV under the 'New Generation' banner! Plus, Adam has a moment of personal clarity! Also, big thanks to Chris Pilkington for the Art Donovan intro music!
In this week's episode, host Dave Holcomb has the pleasure of going through the seven most recent Hall of Fame inductions and explaining each individual's credentials that make them a Hall of Fame player. The list includes Offensive Guard Larry Allen, Wide Receiver Cris Carter, Linebacker Curly Culp, Offensive Tackle Jonathan Ogden, Head Coach Bill Parcells, Linebacker Dave Robinson, Defensive Tackle Warren Sapp. Next, there are many players who deserve to be inducted into Pro Football's Hall of Fame, but have not be elected yet. Dave takes a look at three names who should have busts in Canton soon. In the second segment, the show begins with Hall of Fame news with Art Donovan passing away on Sunday. The defensive tackle won two NFL Championships with the Baltimore Colts and was enshrined in Canton in 1968. Sunday night, Dallas defeated Miami 24-20 in the seasons first game which had a unheard of rookie making a huge play. To finish the segment, Dave discusses two different Petersons. The episode concludes with the popular 'Fourth and Long' segment, which includes two statements from a loyal listener, Chad Johnson. Chad wants to know if Quarterback Donovan McNabb has any chance at the Hall of Fame and if Tight End Tony Gonzalez has a realistic chance at passing Jerry Rice for the All-Time leader in receptions. The final statement covers the latest controversy, or lack their of, from Tim Tebow and New England.
This week marks the 20th anniversary of the very first KING OF THE RING pay-per-view, which saw Hulkamania get squashed and Bret Hart capture his second (yes, second) crown. On this special edition of the Sound Off, Solomonster takes you back through the early days of the KOTR long before it ever aired on TV, then revisits each event from 1993 to its demise in 2002, and its resurrection in 2006, 2008 and 2010. This includes the commentary of Art Donovan (hear it for yourself!), the birth of Austin 3:16 and how the MSG Curtain Call incident made it possible, why Bret vs. Shawn never happened, Mick Foley's plunge off the Hell in a Cell, the end of DDP as a main event player, how William Regal blew the biggest opportunity of his career, and... Sheamus' Antlers. Finally, he examines who the KOTR helped, who it hurt and whether the tournament should be brought back.
This time around we have devoted an entire podcast to reviews! Since we began STEAMGeeks folks have been rather enthusiastic about our reviews. The nice folks at Harper Voyager Publishing and Fox Chapel Publishing have sent us a couple books and put in contact with such authors as Tee Morris and Pip Ballantine. Independent craftsmen "Cogbots" sent us a generous review package of their wood gear kits. In order to catch up with what has become almost too much of a good thing, we are bringing you an all review Review-A-thon! Naturally we had to start with another beverage review! This time we sample and savor some common and not-so-common Hard Ciders. Then we review the book "The Art of Steampunk" by Art Donovan. We wrap things up by examining and reviewing the Cogbots Cogs.
