Football Nation proudly presents its Week 5 episode of "Monday Morning Huddle" with host Dave Holcomb. This week's show starts out differently with a fantasy segment of the upcoming Week 6. Through FFChamps.com and Draftkings.com, daily fantasy players can sign up to play fantasy football in Week 6 for a chance to win $1 million. Holcomb offers his best hints and advice to winning the big prize. Then, our host breaks down the Sunday Night Football blowout as the Patriots responding to all the criticism the team faced all week, but the bigger story is how much the Cincinnati Bengals struggle in big games on the road. Holcomb also briefly discusses the other top story lines of Week 5. Finally, the show dives further into three issues: Jim Harbaugh and his relationship with his players in San Francisco, the issues surrounding the Vikings offense and the latest with Geno Smith and the Jets quarterback situation. All that and more on this edition of Monday Morning Huddle.
Football Nation proudly presents its ninth episode of Monday Morning Huddle with host Dave Holcomb. Normally, MMH recaps the Hall of Fame class the weekend after the induction ceremony, but this year Holcomb will be on vacation next Monday. So, this episode begins with the host listing the accolades of all seven Hall of Fame players who will be inducted on Saturday. In the next segment, Holcomb updates listeners on Browns, Vikings and Jets camp, specifically on the young quarterbacks fighting for starting job under center. Then in the 'Fourth and Long' segment, our host discusses Marshawn Lynch's holdout, Mike Shanahan's comments to the media on Friday and Ray Rice's two game suspension. All that and more on this week's Monday Morning Huddle.
Football Nation proudly presents the eighth episode in season three of "Monday Morning Huddle" with host Dave Holcomb. This week's podcast starts with the Minnesota Vikings and the suspension the franchise handed out to its special teams coach Mike Priefer. In former Vikings punter Chris Kluwe's story and letter to Deadspin, Kluwe included several anecdotes where Priefer said homophobic statements, one of which an investigation confirmed. The former punter, however, still argues the suspension does not fit the crime. Next, Holcomb discusses the highly unlikely possibility the Bills relocate, the feature back for the Jacksonville Jaguars and offensive lineman Chris Snee's plans to announce his retirement. Finally, in the 'Fourth and Long' segment, the host debates 2014 first round busts, the Denver Broncos and the most memorable plays in NFL history. Monday Morning Huddle will return next week, on Monday, July 28th.
Football Nation proudly presents the seventh episode in season three of "Monday Morning Huddle" with host Dave Holcomb. In honor of the last official game retired 49er legends played at Candlestick Park, Holcomb listed the Top 10 Most Memorable Moments from the stadium. During the podcast, the host lists moments ten through six while listeners can find moments five through one in a slideshow article to be released on Tuesday, July 15. Holcomb also discusses the last four unsigned draft picks from the 2014 draft, Football Nation's Top 100 List of 2014 and the DEA investigation into pain pill abuse. Then in the 'Fourth and Long' segment, our host debates the Packers waiting to retire Brett Favre's number, Maurice Jones-Drew's comments about London deserving an NFL team and Jay Cutler being a potential MVP candidate. All that and more in the newest Monday Morning Huddle.
Football Nation proudly presents the sixth episode in season three of "Monday Morning Huddle" with host Dave Holcomb. On this week's podcast, Holcomb discusses Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon's latest run-in with rules, this time with the laws of North Carolina. Raleigh police arrested the NFL's leading receiver for driving with influence on Sunday morning. Meanwhile, Miami Dolphins former first-round pick Dion Jordan failed a drug test and is subjected to miss the first four games of the 2014 season. In the second segment, the host discusses the decision that New Orleans Saints Tight End Jimmy Graham is indeed that and what will come next for Graham and the Saints. Finally, Holcomb debates the Denver Broncos offense improving in 2014, the Baltimore Ravens extending Torrey Smith to a long-term deal and Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers listed as the 11th best player on NFL Network's Top 100 Players List. All that and more on this episode of Monday Morning Huddle.
Football Nation proudly presents its fifth episode of Monday Morning Huddle Season 3 with host Dave Holcomb. On the show, Holcomb explains why fans who hope the Washington Redskins undergo a name change might have to hold their excitement despite the team losing its trademark on the team nickname. In the second segment, the host talks about Chuck Noll and despite his lack of attention through his retirement years, the important impact he had on the league. Finally, Holcomb debates Jimmy Graham's franchise tag, fellow writer Cooper Allen's latest slideshow of the NFL's Top 100 players, and Big Ben and Eli Manning's Hall of Fame chances in the 'Fourth and Long' segment. Monday Morning Huddle will return in two weeks, on Monday, July 7th.
Football Nation proudly presents the fourth episode in season three of "Monday Morning Huddle" with host Dave Holcomb. After last episode's discussion of the NFC West, again this week's podcast begins debating the new huge contract Colin Kaepernick received from the San Francisco 49ers. Which side does it favor more and will more contracts be structured like Kaepernick's? In the second segment, Holcomb takes two of Football Nation's top stories and disagrees with them. First, Patrick Barber lists three teams that should make a quarterback change before the season starts, but one of the franchises has made the playoffs each of the last three seasons. Next, Ryan Hutson names five coaches with something to prove this season, but does a two-time Super Bowl winning coach really have something to prove? Finally, the show ends with four statements in the 'Fourth and Long' segment. To start, Tom Brady and whether he is still an elite quarterback. Then, the draft potentially moving to other cities around the USA and whether fans should believe Pete Carroll in saying that if he could do it over, he would not leave USC. Lastly, the NFL announced it would use Super Bowl 50 as its logo rather than Super Bowl L. Monday Morning Huddle will return in two weeks, on Monday, June 23rd.
Football Nation proudly presents the third episode in season three of "Monday Morning Huddle" with host Dave Holcomb. On this week's show, Holcomb leads off discussing what has transpired over the last week. Arizona Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson did not have too kind of words for fellow defensive back Richard Sherman, and Ray Rice's incident in Atlantic City returned to the NFL forefront with his press conference. The show's host argues how an already crowded NFC West could be just heating up with Peterson's comments. In the second segment, Holcomb analyzes the Monday Night Football schedule by naming the best games, and then the popular 'Fourth and Long' segment returns as Holcomb talks NFC Super Bowl contenders, Andy Dalton's future with the Cincinnati Bengals and a possible Ryan Mallet trade to the Houston Texans. All that and more on this episode of MMH. Happy Memorial Day to all the Veterans! Monday Morning Huddle will return in two weeks, on Monday, June 9th.
Football Nation proudly presents the second episode in season three of "Monday Morning Huddle" with host Dave Holcomb. On this week's show, Holcomb names the top story lines stemming from the NFL Draft weekend, which includes Houston taking Jadeveon Clowney No. 1 overall, but waiting on a quarterback until the fourth round, Johnny Manziel dropping to the Cleveland Browns at No. 22 and Michael Sam becoming the first openly gay NFL players drafted, and much more. In the second segment, Holcomb lists ten drafted players, either on his own or from other Football Nation articles, and puts them into either the 'boom' or 'bust' category. To wrap up the show, the host then picks one team with the best draft overall and one team with the worst draft. Happy Mother's Day! Monday Morning Huddle will return in two weeks, on Monday, May 26th.
Football Nation is proud to present the first episode in season three of Monday Morning Huddle with host Dave Holcomb. On this week's show, our host takes his best stab at breaking down the NFL Draft for the listeners. In the first segment, he recaps the top story lines from the offseason. Then, he lists the top five draft prospects for each position and finally he runs through three different mock drafts selection-by-selection and provides commentary based on his own research. Monday Morning Huddle's next episode will be Monday, May 12 and will breakdown everything that transpired over draft weekend. For the first time ever on the show, Holcomb wants the listeners to decide what he talks about next week. What from the NFL Draft excited you? What teams do you have your eye on that you would like Holcomb to talk about next week? Tweet @dmholcomb or e-mail, holcombmdavid@gmail.com.
Football Nation proudly presents its second-ever Super Bowl edition of "Monday Morning Huddle" with host Dave Holcomb. Just like last season, Holcomb has brought in FN Senior Writer Tom Pollin to help him breakdown Super Bowl XLVIII. The Seahawks defense was flying high in New Jersey, causing four turnovers and scoring twice while also returning a kickoff for a touchdown. Wide Receiver Percy Harvin not only played, but was dynamic as ever and quarterback Russell Wilson was as poised as ever playing on the NFL's biggest stage. But what happened to the Broncos? QB Peyton Manning struggled despite the warmer than expected temperatures, Denver could not establish any sort of running game, and the Broncos defense lived up to its billing by stopping the run but not the pass. Holcomb and Pollin discuss all that and more. Finally in the last 'Fourth and Long' segment of the season, guest star Tom Pollin stays to debate the Seahawks' chances at a repeat, the possibility of Peyton Manning retiring, and the 2014 Hall of Fame Class.
Football Nation presents "Monday Morning Huddle" with host Dave Holcomb. On this week's episode, Holcomb asks guest star Cooper Allen seven burning questions to start the Super Bowl discussion. With all the analysis of "Omaha" and Richard Sherman's "Thugness", it might be nice to hear some actual discussion of the game and that's what listeners get in the first segment. In the second segment, Holcomb makes his award predictions which will be announced on Saturday, and then debates the success of the 2014 Pro Bowl. Then in the 'Fourth and Long' segment, the host lets out his anger about Commissioner Roger Goodell's proposal for taking out extra points and discusses two Football Nation articles with the exact same title, but different conclusions. Finally, Holcomb makes his final prediction of the 2013 season and tells the audience who will win Super Bowl XLVIII.
Football Nation proudly presents a Championship edition of Monday Morning Huddle with host Dave Holcomb. On this week's show, the host dissects the important factors of the Broncos' and Seahawks' victories in their respective conference championship games. First, Seattle sticks to its running game plan and comes back to defeat San Francisco 23-17. Running back Marshawn Lynch had a big impact rushing for over 100 yards, but the referees questionable calls certainly didn't hurt Seattle in most cases. For New England, they did not get any running game going on Sunday and virtually had no offense to speak of through the first three quarters. A near perfect game from Peyton Manning put Denver in its seventh Super Bowl. What does the results of the AFC Championship mean for Manning and Tom Brady's legacies? That, along with why Championship Sunday is better than Super Bowl Sunday and Richard Sherman's post game interview are debated in the 'Fourth and Long' segment.
The AFC and NFC Championship are just a few days away. Four teams remain and only two will advance for the privilege of competing for the Lombardi Trophy in Super Bowl XLVIII. The Patriots and Broncos start things off at 3:00 pm (est) in the AFC Championship and the 49ers and Seahawks will cap off Championship weekend on Sunday Night at 6:30 pm (est). Todd DeVries and Bill Enright host this special two hour Conference Championship preview episode of Football Nation and break down each of these should be classic match-ups. Todd and Bill play a game of “who has the edge” for each match-up in the following categories: Coach, Quarterback, Running Back, Wide Receiver, Tight End, Defense, and Special Teams. Kerry Byrne from ColdHardFootballFacts.com joins us to break down these games from a statistical standpoint. You can find Kerry’s Real and Spectatcular picks at ColdHardFootballFacts.com Insider.
There were eight teams heading into the Divisional and only four teams made it out alive. For the most part, the four teams we all assumed would win ended up being victorious. The Seahawks, Patriots, 49ers, and Broncos all won their match-ups which makes for a very exciting AFC and NFC Championship round but on the flip side, the Divisional Games left us fans wanting a bit more excitement.
Football Nation presents another playoff edition of "Monday Morning Huddle" with host Dave Holcomb. On this week's episode, BostInno sports writer Alex Reimer joins the show to discuss the Patriots power running game that destroyed the Indianapolis Colts. Will New England bring the same game plan to Denver? In fact, both the Seahawks and 49ers also ran the ball effectively on their way to victories in the Division round. Holcomb recaps how those teams win as rivals Seattle and San Francisco get ready to square off in the NFC Championship. Plus, Peyton Manning returns to the AFC Championship Game for perhaps the final Brady-Manning showdown in the playoffs. Finally, in the 'Fourth and Long' segment, Holcomb makes his final Super Bowl prediction, picks what Harbaugh brother has had a more impressive coaching start, and choices which of the four teams eliminated over the weekend has the best chance to get to the Championship Game next year. All that and more on Monday Morning Huddle's Division Week episode.
For now, there’s 8 teams, 7 games, and just three more weeks of NFL action for the Season (let’s be honest no one cares about the Pro Bowl). This weekend’s games are an excellent combination of great offense vs. a great defense (Saints-Seahawks), defensive battles (49ers-Panthers), division rivalries (Chargers-Broncos), and a renewal of a legendary post-season rivalry (Colts-Patriots). That’s what makes the NFL Playoffs compelling, dramatic, and entertaining, these are the games we want to watch and these are the teams that we want to see. Adding a 7th seed to the playoffs would NOT make the Playoffs more compelling and yet that is seemingly the direction Roger Goodell and the NFL Owners are taking us toward. Much to Bill and Todd’s dismay, a 7th seed will make the playoffs in the not so distant future. Our two hosts discuss the Positive and (mostly) Negative aspects of bringing in an additional team to the post-season. Want to go to the Super Bowl but can’t afford tickets? Just sue the NFL. That’s what a New Jersey man decided to do after shelling out $4,000 for two Super Bowl Tickets. Our FN Legal expert, James DeStefano, joins us to discuss the Class Action lawsuit. And of course we get into game previews and predictions for the NFL Divisional Playoffs with some help from Kerry Byrne from ColdHardFootballFacts.com.
If you are a fan of the NFL you were NOT disappointed in the action from Wildcard Weekend (unless of course you root for the Chiefs, Eagles, Packers, or Bengals). But in general, all four games were absolutely SPECTACULAR. We were treated to one of the biggest comebacks in NFL History with the Colts fighting back from a 38-10 deficit to beat the Chiefs 45-44. While Andrew Luck was throwing for 443 yards and 4 TDs and T.Y. Hilton was catching 13 passes for 224 yards and 2 TDs, Alex Smith was becoming the first QB in playoff history to throw 4 TDs, 0 INTs and still lose. Unfortunate for Chiefs fans, great for Colts fans. There was a major upset in Cincinnati with the Chargers taking down the Bengals 27-10. The combo of Marvin Lewis and Andy Dalton have lost their opening playoff games three years in a row. And finally, the 49ers and Saints both won their match-ups thanks to game-winning field goals in the final seconds of the game. San Francisco beat the Packers 23-20 and the Saints took down the Eagles 26-24.
Football Nation proudly presents the 29th episode in season two of Monday Morning Huddle with host Dave Holcomb. In this playoff edition of MMH, Holcomb analyzes all four games from the weekend along with two guest stars. Cold, Hard, Football Facts Official Coroner Justin Henry dissects the Philadelphia Eagles 26-24 loss to the New Orleans Saints and Chad Johnson from thecasualheroes.com breaks down the Cincinnati Bengal's first loss of the season at home at the hands of the San Diego Chargers. Holcomb talks about the other two wild card match ups on his own. Then in the 'Fourth and Long Segment', Holcomb briefly previews next week's games, and discusses the possibility of Ken Whisenhunt to be the next head coach of the Detroit Lions and the likelihood the Houston Texans trade the number one pick. All that and more in this week's episode of Monday Morning Huddle.
Happy New Year It’s playoff time in the NFL with Wildcard Weekend just a few days away. We are in for a treat with two days of exciting NFL Playoff Action. The Chiefs and the Colts kick things off on Saturday Afternoon and the Saints and Eagles take on Primetime on Saturday Night. Then on Sunday the Chargers and Bengals start things off early at 1:00 est and the 49ers and Packers close out what should be an excellent Wildcard Weekend at 4:40 pm (est). We breakdown all of this weekend’s games plus review the Black Monday madness with a handful of NFL Coaches getting fired.
Football Nation proudly presents the final regular season episode of Monday Morning Huddle with host Dave Holcomb. This week's show kicks off with coverage of both winner takes-all games in the NFC on Sunday. Say all you want about the missed opportunities this season by the Cowboys and Bears, but both the Eagles and Packers went on the road in Week 17 and won in a must-win scenario. In the second segment, Holcomb reviews the AFC Wild Card chase that came down to the wire in an overtime matchup out west. Talk about missed opportunities, Miami and Baltimore both miss the playoffs after 8-6 starts to the season. Finally, in the 'Fourth and Long' segment, Holcomb discusses Kansas City sitting its starters against San Diego on Sunday, the Saints chances in Philadelphia next week along with the other road teams' shots to win in the wild card round, and the first coach getting fired on Black Monday. Well, Black Monday Eve. All that and more on the newest Monday Morning Huddle.
Football Nation proudly presents this Christmas edition of Monday Morning Huddle with host Dave Holcomb. On this week's episode, Holcomb discusses Carolina earning its first playoff berth since 2008 with a victory over New Orleans, Pittsburgh staying alive with a narrow win in Green Bay and Philadelphia destroying Chicago on Sunday Night Football. Next, the host dissects two what he calls "under-the-radar" teams, Indianapolis and Arizona, and gives his honest opinion of both team's Super Bowl chances. Then in the 'Fourth and Long' segment, Holcomb predicts what Jerry Jones will do if Dallas fails in another winner-take all Week 17 matchup, who will capture the sixth seed in the AFC, and reviews Peyton Manning's record setting season. All that and more on this week's version of Monday Morning Huddle.
Adam Dobrowolski examines with the road woes of multiple projected playoff teams, and if it could mean that this postseason will have a full course home cookin' up until the Super Bowl.
Every Fantasy Football manager had this weekend circled since back in August. Week 16. The Fantasy Football Championships. It’s finally here and we’re ready to help you win the cash, win the bragging rights, and win your trophy. Not only does your Fantasy Football team have major post-season implications this weekend but the actual NFL teams do as well. Todd DeVries and Bill Enright breakdown the full slate of playoff standings for both the AFC and NFC teams and review who needs to win, lose, or needs some help from others in order to make it into the playoffs. Speaking of playoff teams, Kerry Byrne from ColdHardFootballFacts.com, joins us to identify the weaknesses of the top playoff contenders. After all we know the Broncos have a prolific passing attack and the Seahawks have a dominant defense and run game, but what do those teams do poorly? Kerry joins us to discuss.
This is it. Week 16 of the NFL can only mean one thing to Fantasy Football Players, THE FANTASY FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP. Whether you were saved by Jamaal Charles or escaped the wrath of Justin Tucker’s six Field Goals, including one 61 yard-er, there’s just one more week to bring home that trophy, bragging rights, and cash. Luckily it seems a lot of our regular callers and listeners made it past their semi-finals and into the Championship week. We were overwhelmed by calls and emails, praising us for our service. We certainly appreciate the great testimonials, but there’s still one more week to prepare for, which is what we do on the Week 16 episode of the Fantasy Football Champs.
Football Nation proudly presents another episode of Monday Morning Huddle with Host Dave Holcomb. On this week's show, Holcomb highlights the missed opportunities each team had in securing its playoff position. First, top-seeded Denver loses to San Diego, but then second-seeded New England failed to move into a tie for first by losing to Miami. Playing on Sunday night, Cincinnati watched both the Broncos and Patriots lose and knew its team had a chance to increase the liklihood of a first round bye, only to lose to division rivalry Pittsburgh. In the NFC, Philadelphia lost to Minnesota, who was without its top two running backs, but Dallas blew a 23-point halftime lead and did not move into a first place tie in the East. The show ends with the 'Fourth and Long' segment that features a discussion on the return of Jay Cutler, the Saints running into blues outside of New Orleans and Jamaal Charles' nearly record setting day. All that and more in this episode of Monday Morning Huddle.
Adam Dobrowolski examines the question surrounding the potential "end" of the Patriots' legitimate Super Bowl hopes -- and it has more to do with the Mathletics than the Gronk injury. Also, find out the impact of a touchdown-heavy Week 14 on the CHFF Big Board.
Typically on our Football Nation radio show we spend close to 45 minutes or so helping our listeners with their Fantasy Football lineups. During the other Hour and 15 minutes we discuss the latest NFL Headlines, talk about the playoff picture and what needs to happen on the schedule for team’s to make last second pushes or clinch home field. It’s a great balance that touches on both the NFL and Fantasy Football. But when it’s the Fantasy Football playoffs, all plans are thrown out the window. Literally for an Hour and 45 minutes we were on the phones taking your calls and answering your lineup questions via emails. It was very rewarding for both Bill and Todd to know that not only are our listeners still making a run for the Fantasy Football Championships but their teams are stacked thanks in part to the advice we’ve given all year (audience praise not patting ourselves on the back). So below you’ll find out the latest playoff breakdown since we didn’t have time to get to it during the show. But again, it’s the Fantasy Football playoffs, so if you couldn’t tune in LIVE, listen now On-Demand for our strategy and lineup advice in Week 15. NFC: Seattle 11-2 NFC West Clinched playoff New Orleans 10-3 NFC South Philadelphia 8-5 NFC East Detroit 7-6 NFC North Panthers 9-4 wildcard 49ers 9-4 wildcard In the hunt: Arizona 8-5 Chicago 7-6 Dallas 7-6 Packers 6-6-1 AFC: Denver 11-2 AFC West clinched playoff Patriots 10-3 AFC East Bengals 9-4 AFC North Colts 8-5 clinched division Chiefs 10-3 wildcard Ravens 7-6 wildcard In the hunt: Miami 7-6 Chargers 6-7 Jets 6-7
Week 14 was one of the craziest NFL weeks in recent memory. A major snow storm ripped through multiple stadiums. Three games came down to last second finishes. A record setting amount of touchdowns were scored. Gary Kubiak got fired. Rob Gronkowski tore his ACL. Adrian Peterson went down with an injury that may keep him out in Week 15. Matt Prater set the record with a 64 yard field goal. Plus it was the opening round of the Fantasy Football Playoffs and the semi-finals start in just a few days. So, you think we had enough to talk about on Fantasy Football Champs Radio? As always we recapped the players that went down with injuries in Week 15 including Gronk, Peterson, plus discuss players like Eddie Lacy, Reggie Bush, Maurice Jones-Drew, and Wes Welker. We also reviewed the Champs and Chumps including the dominant performances by LeSean McCoy, Jamaal Charles, Josh Gordon, and Josh McCown. Get prepared for Week 15 with our Waiver Wire report which includes grabbing Tight End Dennis Pitta, especially if you just lost Gronk. Plus Todd and Bill have some fun with your emails, discuss Todd’s experience at the blizzard game in Philadelphia, and of course help set your lineups with our weekly rankings.
Football Nations proudly presents the 25th episode in season 2 of Monday Morning Huddle with Host Dave Holcomb. Week 14 is the craziest week in the NFL in a very long time with heavy snow in four games on Sunday and last minute comebacks in New England and Baltimore. But the NFC showdowns later in the day stole the headlines with New Orleans rebounding to snap Carolina's eight-game winning streak and San Francisco edging out Seattle by the bay. Next, in the worst/best weather game of the weekend, Philadelphia outlast Detroit behind a magnificent performance from LeSean McCoy. In the AFC, Cincinnati routs Indianapolis to earn claim to the third seed, and Baltimore, San Diego, and Miami capture near must-wins. In the 'Fourth and Long' segment, Holcomb will update you on the latest Rob Gronkowski injury, discuss the last 2:05 seconds of the Ravens/Vikings game, and makes a bold prediction on which team will win the NFC North. All that and more on this week's Monday Morning Huddle.
Adam Dobrowolski breaks down how Russell Wilson is breaking regression and improving on his stellar and stunningly-efficient rookie season. Can Wilson possibly can BETTER against quality opponents in 2013 than he was in 2012? Also, Dobrowolski breaks down the best games of Week 14, including three top-10 match-ups, according to CHFF's Quality Stats Power Rankings.
The Fantasy Football Playoffs start this week, unfortunately it’s with the worst Primetime Game in History. The 3-9 Jaguars host the 2-10 Texans opn Thursday Night Football. It is truly a battle for the Number 1 pick in 2014. Should Jaguars fans hope their two-game win streak comes to an end or the Texans fans cheer for their 11th straight loss? Will see if Tanky For Teddy comes into play. Luckily the Sunday Night game and Monday Night’s action makes up for the nauseating match-up on Thursday. Panthers travel to New Orleans to take on the Saints and battle for NFC South supremacy on Sunday Night and the Dallas Cowboys fly up to the Windy City to play the Bears on Monday. Think about all the potential fantasy match-ups that depend on performances from Monday Night. Tony Romo, Jay Cutler/Josh McCown, Matt Forte, DeMarco Murray, Brandon Marshall, Alshon Jeffrey, Dez Bryant, Martellus Bennett, and Jason Witten all in action for this week’s final game. Lot of swearing and crying or cheering and celebrating from Fantasy Managers after that Monday Night Game. As if the Fantasy Football playoffs don’t get you pumped up, we discuss Aliens, Government conspiracies and more in this very special and entertaining edition of Football Nation. Plus Kerry Byrne from ColdHardFootballFacts.com joins us to discuss the Power Rankings in the NFL. The Seahawks seem like a lock to represent the NFC in Super Bowl 48 but who will meet them from the AFC? Kerry, Todd, and Bill all debate.
The Fantasy Football Playoffs are here. Yes Jim Mora, the Playoffs!!! Get ready for the Fantasy Football post-season with Todd DeVries and Bill Enright who help set your lineups for Week 14 via their answers to your emails and phone calls. Whether you have a first round bye or are battling this weekend for a chance to play in the semi-finals, this episode of Fantasy Football Champs radio is packed with great advice for your Championship run. For example: the waiver wire typically becomes a forgotten source of value during December and although we preach “use the players that got you here” there are some wise moves to make on the Waiver Wire; most notably use Defenses that have great match-ups for an extra boost to your point total. Throughout the show, Bill and Todd discuss the players that are on fire like Alshon Jerffrey, Josh Gordon, Nick Foles, and DeMarco Murray and whether or not they can keep on dominating. Plus they take a look at players that under-performed in Week 13 like Eddie Lacy, Wes Welker, and Danny Woodhead and predict if and when they can turn things around. It’s another can’t miss episode of the Fantasy Football Champs just in time for the Fantasy Football Playoffs.
Football Nation proudly presents the 24th episode in season two of Monday Morning Huddle with host Dave Holcomb. This week's show runs extra long due to all the action from Week 13. The episode starts out with a complete breakdown of the Broncos edging the Chiefs as Kansas City loses for a third straight time, and the Eagles hold on to defeat the Cardinals in the battle of the birds. In the second segment, Holcomb discusses everything turkey and stuffing, mentioning the top story lines from the three games on Thanksgiving. Then, in the 'Fourth and Long' segment, Holcomb debates the penalty that should be given to Mike Tomlin for his foot being on the field during a play, the latest accusations of the New England Patriots spying on teams, and who should start at quarterback for the New York Jets. All that and more on this episode of Monday Morning Huddle.
For this Thanksgiving edition, Adam Dobrowolski fills your plate by buying or selling playoff contenders from a projected playoff picture. Also, he offers his favorite games in a week full of great battles.
We are entering the final chapter of the 2013 Fantasy Football regular season. Whether you’ve clinched a playoff birth or fighting for the last wildcard spot, the guys from FFChamps.com are here to help you prepare for Week 13 and beyond. But before we take a look at the upcoming schedule and player rankings, we first look back at the epic battle between Peyton Manning and Tom Brady. In terms of the actual game, we couldn’t have asked for a better outcome. Broncos up 24-0 at the half, Brady and the Pats fight back to take a lead, Peyton sends the game into overtime, and the early blow-out turned into a nail-biter at the end. Just another instant classic in the Peyton-Brady rivalvry. But what the heck happened to all the Fantasy Football performers? Outside of Brady, Knowshon Moreno, Rob Gronkowski, the other usual suspects didn’t come to play. Eric Decker and Wes Welker had a minimal impact, luckily Demaryius Thomas saved his stats with a late game TD. Plus Julian Edelman finished with over 100 yards and 2 TDs but was started in less than 10% of leagues...CRAZY! Luckily, there were plenty of Fantasy regulars like Josh Gordon, Jamaal Charles, and Adrian Peterson who were making some big time plays over the weekend. As we look ahead to Week 13, we strongly advise everyone to take a look at some RBs on the Waiver Wire. Bilal Powell, Montee Ball, Dennis Johnson, and Benny Cunningham have the ability to help your squad in the Fantasy Postseason.
Football Nation proudly presents another episode of "Monday Morning Huddle" with host Dave Holcomb. In this show, Holcomb doesn't give much thanks as he takes shots at whether or not the Sunday Night matchup between the Broncos and Patriots was actually a classic. Do fans really believe it was a classic or does the media want us to believe that? Next, the host gives credit to Dallas for its big win in New Jersey, but does say the Giants are not eliminated and then previews the Thanksgiving matchup between the Steelers and Ravens, who are both 5-6. In the 'Fourth and Long' segment, Holcomb debates whether the NFL is now a victim to its own parody. Parody keeps more fans watching, but the deluded quality of teams and talent gives undeserving clubs a shot at a Super Bowl championship. Holcomb also rants about the way referees now call the games in the NFL. All that and more in this episode of Monday Morning Huddle.
Adam Dobrowolski gives the 49ers and Patriots the Vince McMahon to Bret Hart treatment, as he explains why shortcomings in the teams' respective passing games caused them to lose their controversial Week 11 games.
The NFL is all about the quarterback and with two of the best QBs of this generation facing each other this weekend, the NFL world has its eyes fully focused on Gillette Stadium for the Broncos and Patriots game on Sunday Night. It’s the 14th time fans will see Brady and Peyton on the same field. So far, Brady has the edge, winning seven out of the previous 13 battles. But the Broncos are red hot, boasting what is on pace to become one of the best offenses in NFL History. With the 14th match-up of these two colossal QBs just a few days away, Fantasy Football managers should be drooling over this game. One major theme throughout our show was simply: Start anyone from Denver or New England. We can pretty much guarantee this won’t be a low scoring affair. The Vegas bookmakers predict it will be the highest scoring game of the week and with so much on the line in your Fantasy Football standings, you’d be crazy to consider benching anyone with a DEN or NEP next to their name. The Broncos and Patriots game certainly has a lot of NFL Playoff implications, as does a few other games this weekend. Todd and Bill breakdown the full playoff picture and update you on the latest standings, the match-ups that matter for playoff purposes this weekend, and predict who will win each division along with the Wildcard Spots. As always, we take your Week 12 lineup questions throughout the show and introduce you to the DraftKings.com Fantasy Football arcade where you can compete for $1,000 for just 25 cents.
The Referees interfered with two games in Week 11 but depending on your team loyalty or perhaps Fantasy Football agenda, likely determines what you thought about each penalty. Obviously we are referring to the Roughing the Passer call during the 49ers and Saints game which helped the Saints tie the game in the final minutes and the flag that was later deemed no flag on the very last play of the Patriots and Panthers game. Unlike the Saints-49ers game which really only helped Garrett Hartley and maybe stole a few points from the 49ers defense, it didn’t have major Fantasy Football implications. But the Patriots-Panthers Rob Gronkowski/Luke Kuechly play not only decided the outcome of the game but also some fantasy football outcomes as well. Think about it: Tom Brady and Rob Gronk both could have had TDs on that play. Instead Brady ends up with an INT, which got him negative points, the Panthers get the INT and didn’t let up another score. That’s a tough way to lose if you were banking on Brady, great way to win if you had the Panthers. Because of the penalties and referees those two games over-shadowed the Chiefs and Broncos game which some argue lived up to the billing. But not if you were banking on Jamaal Charles or Eric Decker/Wes Welker. Instead guys like Montee Ball and Dwayne Bowe were scoring TDs. In addition to recapping the action from Week 11, our hosts help you sort your way through the Waiver Wire and set your lineups for Week 12. Remember, just two more games before the Fantasy Post Season, so every point matters from here on out.
Football Nation proudly presents another packed episode of Monday Morning Huddle with host Dave Holcomb. On this week's show, Holcomb analyzes the top games of the Sunday with the Broncos getting a must-win against the unbeaten Chiefs and the Saints stay hot versus the hapless 49ers offense. Did the referees make the correct call late in the game when Patrick Willis hit Drew Brees up around his neck area? In the second segment, Holcomb goes to the Giants and Steelers, who captured big wins on Sunday to stay alive in the playoff hunt. Can either of these teams make a run at the Super Bowl? And what other 4-6 teams are mostly likely to make a playoff run? Holcomb discusses that and the Mount Rushmore of Quarterbacks in the 'Fourth and Long' segment.
As we get closer to kickoff in Week 11 we breakdown the schedule for this weekend’s action. Unfortunately the first game of the week, Colts and Titans, isn’t exactly an exciting match-up. But luckily, the other two Primetime games will certainly live up to the billing. Chiefs and Broncos on Sunday night may be one of the best match-ups of the year. With Kansas City undefeated and Denver looking to get ahead of the Chiefs in the AFC Standings, there’s a lot on the line. Will Peyton Manning’s ankle injury become an issue. Is Dwayne Bowe’s arrest a distraction for KC? We answer those questions and give our predictions for the game. Plus for the first time in a long time, we’re treated to a great game on Monday Night Football. The red-hot Carolina Panthers host the New England Patriots who are coming off a bye. Carolina’s defense has suffocated opponents all season but did the bye week give Coach Belichick and Tom Brady plenty of time to figure out how to beat the ferocious felines? During the second hour of the show, Kerry Byrne from ColdHardFootballFacts.com joins us to discuss the Chiefs and Broncos game along with the Eagles and Redskins which should be a very high scoring affair. We want you to get in on the action at DraftKings.com in Week 11 where you can compete for over $500 in Cash Prizes. Todd and Bill reveal their Best Buy and Over Priced players for the Daily Fantasy Football contest. All that plus your Fantasy Football Lineup Questions for Week 11.
Welcome to the Week 11 episode of Fantasy Football Champs. Was Week 10 super boring or was it just us? Nine teams scored less than 20 points, which is a major blow to Fantasy Football contributors. There were four teams that scored more than 30 points but two of them were the Rams and the Vikings. Instead of superstars like Dez Bryant going bonkers in Week 10, we saw Tavon Austin get the hat-trick with his 3 TDs. Instead of Chris Johnson having a big day it was Mark Ingram who ran for 145 yards. But fear not, everything will return to normalcy in Week 11. Hopefully you woke up to an asterisk next to your team name for locking up a playoff birth but if you didn’t, don’t worry because there’s still three more weeks until the start of the postseason. We discuss our Waiver Wire pickups for the week, recap the Champs and Chumps along with the injury report from Week 10 and of course help you set your lineups for this week.
Football Nation proudly presents another full episode of Monday Morning Huddle with host Dave Holcomb. On this week's show, FN Reporter Cooper Allen again guest stars to discuss the status of the NFC with Holcomb. Hear who each expert has winning the four divisions and capturing the home field advantage in the NFC. Both reporters have slightly changed their initial decisions and have unexpected teams getting the sixth seed for the playoffs. Then, Allen and Holcomb pick a disappointing & surprising player and MVP for the NFC through the first 10 weeks. The show concludes with the usual 'Fourth and Long' segment where Holcomb debates the Steelers possibly trading away Ben Roethlisberger after the 2013 season, the impact of the Titans loss to Jacksonville on Sunday, and the status of the AFC North after Cincinnati lost again in overtime to the Baltimore Ravens. Listeners get it all here on the latest episode of Monday Morning Huddle.
Adam Dobrowolski delves into the Mathletics at the mid-point of the season, finding out which teams/players are living up to regression expectations and finding out which one are breaking the trend. Also, Dobrowolski explains why the Cold, Hard Football Facts illustrate the dysfunction on the Miami Dolphins offensive line with the Incognito-Martin situation.
As we head into Week 10 of the NFL Season the Richie Incognito and Jonathan Martin controversy is dominating headlines but what about the games? Seems no one is talking about some of the exciting match-ups we have in store for this weekend. There’s four games with eight high caliber QBs facing off against each other: Broncos and Peyton Manning vs. Chargers and Philip Rivers Saints and Drew Brees vs. Cowboys and Tony Romo Panthers and Cam Newton vs. 49ers and Colin Kaepernick Seahawks and Russell vs. Falcons and Matt Ryan We rank those four match-ups plus give you our Can’t Miss Game of the Week and our Must Miss Game of the Week (here’s a hint they are both featured on Primetime). As always we help you set your Fantasy Football lineups for this week and help you win some money playing Daily Fantasy Football over at DraftKings.com. Plus Kerry Byrne from ColdHardFootballFacts.com joins us to discuss why the Kansas City Chiefs are the smartest team in the NFL History and why the Carolina Panthers should not be overlooked in the second half of the season.
Welcome to Week 10 of the 2013 NFL Season. There’s just four more weeks until the Fantasy Football playoffs begin. Right now is the time to start stacking wins, ensuring your spot for the playoffs, and preparing your squad for a productive playoff run. As for all the action this past weekend in Week 9, it was awesome. Despite high powered offenses like the Lions and Broncos on bye, there was plenty of TDs to go around thanks to some surpisingly awesome games (Eagles/Redskins, Seahawks/Bucs, Redskins/Chargers, Patriots/Steelers). There was also some great performances by running backs in Week 9 which we’ve seem to have lacked thus far in 2013. Week 9 also saw one of the most coveted players in all of Fantasy Football go down with an injury. No we aren't talking about Darren McFadden (though he did get hurt too), but referring to Packers QB Aaron Rodgers who is expected to miss at least three weeks thanks to a small fracture in his collar bone. What does losing Rodgers mean for guys like Jordy Nelson, James Jones and Eddie Lacy? We discuss and strategize plus help you make smart Waiver Wire moves and lineup decisions for Week 10.
Host Dave Holcomb is proud to announce two great Football Nation reporters guest star on this week's episode of Monday Morning Huddle. First, FN Reporter David Levin comes onto the show to answer any questions remaining from the Thursday Night matchup between Cincinnati and Miami. What is the Bengals defense going to look like without Geno Atkins? And is Lamar Miller finally the number one back for the Dolphins? In the second segment, Cooper Allen returns to the show to discuss the rest of the AFC. Holcomb and Allen discuss playoff seedings and the wild card races. Then in the third segment, they each give their surprise & disappointment player along with the MVP of the conference. To close the show, Holcomb ties up all the loose ends from week nine including a seven touchdown performance from Nick Foles, a miraculous comeback by Indianapolis and two head coaches with major health concerns.
Adam Dobrowolski looks to see if the mental meltdown in last week's Cowboys-Lions game will be a sign of the Cowboys decline. Also, find out what the CHFF Big Board has to say about the Seahawks' O-line and Steelers' pass D.
Happy Halloween. Before we jumped into the Week 9 slate of games including the Thursday Night match-up between the Bengals and Dolphins, our hosts debate what they enjoy about Halloween. Todd loves Halloween. Loves the candy. Loves the Costumes. Loves the Horror Movies. But Bill on the other hand, hates everything to do with this made up “holiday” other than the fact women tend to dress up in a very revealing fashion. Sticking with the Halloween theme, Patrick Imig from ColdHardFootballFacts.com joins us to discuss the scouting report for 11 Horror Movie Villains. In his article, Imig analyzed the potential for the likes of Michael Myers, Jason Voorhees, Leatherface, Freddy Krueger and more as NFL players. Which Horror Movie Bad Guy would make it in the NFL? We debate and give our answers during the show. As always, we help you win some money playing Daily Fantasy Football at DraftKings.com with our Best Buy and Over Priced players list for our Week 9 contest. It’s only $5 to enter and winner take all in the head-to-head match-up.
Other than Calvin Johnson’s monster performance against the Dallas Cowboys, the rest of the games in Week 8 left us a bit hungry and yearning for more action. Perhaps it was the crazy amount of teams (6) on a bye. Will it get better in Week 9? Not likely. Once again we have six teams on a bye in Week 9 and there are some offensive juggernauts that won’t be in action. The Broncos, Lions, 49ers, Giants, Cardinals, and Jaguars all have the week off. If you take Kickers and Defenses out of the equation there’s about 22 big time Fantasy Football Contributors not in action this week because of a bye. That’s major problems for Fantasy Football managers looking to string together some winning weeks for the playoff push. Luckily, as we discuss during the show, there weren't many injuries this past week and there’s some solid options emerging on the Waiver Wire. Plug in your headphones and boost up the volume for two hours of Fantasy Football strategy and analysis heading into Week 9.
