Oregon decriminalized all drugs with Measure 110. Kassandra Frederique, Executive Director of the Drug Policy Alliance helped get this measure into action and is helping drug treatment facilities be created with Cannabis tax revenue. Is this a good idea? Will it render the Drug War obsolete? We take a look at what Portugal noticed after decriminalizing drugs and how they helped treat addictions using movement. But the main conclusion is, how can we use this same understanding in breaking the whole of society out of our rigid addiction to the status quo that's damaging mother earth? #BenStewart #Oregon #DrugPolicy #CurrentEvents #ComedyYou are the most powerful technology. Today we spoke with Christina Vesalak who is dedicated to saving and transforming lives through her work as a mental health nutritionist, specifically utilizing amino acid and nutrient therapy. In this conversation, Christina discusses her personal journey with nutrition and mood. She describes the mechanics of a starving brain and how to feed it to achieve optimal functioning, maximize therapeutic work and for relapse prevention. Chrisitina also shares about her training programs and the Certification in Amino Acid Therapy for Addiction Recovery and Sustained Mental Health, which is a 5 month training program starting in a few weeks. Christina T. Veselak is the founder and director of the Academy for Addiction and Mental Health Nutrition. She has been a licensed psychotherapist for over 30 years, and currently provides on-line Relapse Prevention Coaching and Mental Health Nutrition to a wide variety of clients.Christina consults for supplement companies as well as IV detox programs and residential addiction treatment, helping them integrate this life-saving nutritional approach into their programs. She is an experienced public speaker, and has presented at conferences and trainings around the country. We understand that nutrition is not a cure all or one size fits all intervention, but often times mental health professionals are not sufficiently trained in the biological aspect of the framework, which includes nutrition and its effects on the brain and body. There is an abundance of research on nutrition and mental health and it can be very confusing to sift through. In our integrative clinic, we found that many of our clients were struggling to understand what to eat and not eat for their mood as well recognizing social -emotional factors that play a role in our diet; such as disordered eating, diet culture, food insecurity etc. Check out our courses on nutrition and supplements for mental health. We compiled the most current evidence, case studies from our own practice and knowledge from a variety of integrative practitioners and tons of resources, handouts and guided practices that you can use and share with your clients. Addictions can be the greatest of struggles. On my own journey I suffered from multiple addictions and at one time had given up hope. But there is an easy way to overcome any addiction and that is to quantum jump into a reality where you have no addiction. This when combined with specific breathing exercises and transferring physical pain into your astral body is one of the most powerful methods I have found to change your reality. If you suffer from any addiction, drugs, food, porn, you name it, you can use this meditation to instantaneously overcome it. You circumvent the left brain and open up the right brain. You will enter a new body and you will be able to transfer your pain out of your physical body. Sometimes we think it has to be hard to overcome any addiction. it doesn't. There is a version of you that does not have any addictions that is living in a wonderful timeline right now. You can jump into your new body and your new life today. Alexander Holt, Founder of Limitless Ventures, joins us today to talk about addiction, recovery, and investing in behavioral health and addiction-focused startups. His venture fund, Limitless Ventures is an impact investment firm, that looks to fund companies seeking to help people who need behavioral health and addiction treatment solutions. Their mission at Limitless is to combine venture capital and philanthropic capital to scale multi-disciplinary solutions for people impacted by mental health challenges as well as addiction. They have a unique way of combining capital from non-profits as well as for-profit investors that he explains in detail in our conversation. You can connect with Alexander here: Limitless Ventures Website, Alexander Holt LinkedIn HERE ARE SOME OF THE THINGS WE TALKED ABOUT: Alex talks about growing up in a great family environment surrounding by love and afforded many great advantages in life. However, this did not spare him from difficulty, and a desire to be accepted which ultimately led him to alcohol, and eventually to drugs and finding his way into trouble. Alex explains having ADHD as a kid and struggling to focus his attention. He suggests that he needed more behavioral support, but never got it and eventually found himself getting into fights and struggling socially in middle school. Eventually, his desire to fit in led him to figure out how to “bring the life” to the party which meant getting access to alcohol. Alex shares about the moment he realized when he was powerless over alcohol and that his life had become unmanageable. We talked about our shared experiences in rehab, and Alex shares in detail how he got sober, and how he has maintained his sobriety for over 5 years. We talked about our shared experience in the Alcoholics Anonymous program and one of the key components of that program: Service. Alex talks about how he gives back to the AA community, how he helps others, and why that is so important for his recovery. We talked about the “recovery community” which is a concept that seemed so foreign to both of us as we entered rehab. However, that recovery community has been one of the most powerful and influential things in both of our lives in recent years. There are over 40 million people out here who are going through what we went through, and they are there to help each other on a regular basis. There is a lot of power in that. Alex talks about his venture capital fund, Limitless Ventures and his “double bottom” line approach. His objectives are to improve mental and behavioral health outcomes while also driving outsized returns for investors. Limitless is structured as a family of 5 funds, each focused on various points in the continuum of care: Prevention Life sciences Healthcare Technology Treatment Long Term Recovery Limitless currently operates as an independent sponsor creating SPVs for each deal while they work toward their goal of raising $3.5 billion over the next few years. Source of Capital: Every dollar they invest is comprised of 40% ROI focused on investor capital and 60% non-profit foundation capital. Alex explains the tax structure, and plan that allows him to combine capital types and do something unique for his industry. Alex talks about one of his investment projects which is filling a hole in the recovery market around housing for those in recovery. He is part of a team-building a 500 bed co-living apartment in New York, NY that will house people living in recovery. The apartment building will be located in Times Square, in a 40-story high rise where a full continuum of care will be proved to people living in recovery from addiction. Are you discouraged that you have failed multiple times to cut back or quit? Do you want to cut back or quit drinking, but you're leery of some of the conventional “public” methods of recovery such as Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and rehab? Are you in recovery but feel stuck Are you wondering what you can do to create more passion and enthusiasm in your life and your sobriety? If you answered yes to some or all of these questions, then you are in the right place! I found an incredible way to become sober using reality creation concepts such as reality transurfing, neville goddard, and quantum jumping. Susun Weed answers 90 minutes of herbal health questions followed by a 30 minute interview with Marcie Goldman. Marcie Goldman started her nutrition journey as a child growing up with a compulsive over-eater and dieter (her father went from morbidly obese to the "Biggest Loser"). Losing over 100lbs, he went from "food-addict" to "fit & healthy" before her eyes. At age 8, food meant LIFE or a constant battle. Most recently her passion for mental health led her to a certification as an Addiction Recovery Nutrition Coach through the Alliance for Addiction Solutions.
