As a drug and alcohol counsellor, Michael Cameron clearly thinks that working with individuals to confront their alcohol and drug patterns and navigate their recovery journey is a privilege. However, this work is often made more difficult by the current state of our AOD and the broader healthcare system. Michael describes how access to treatment options is limited, waiting lists can be long, and there are unequal opportunities for those who may not have the financial means or insurance coverage. In this podcast, Michael and Jack discuss how these challenges can create roadblocks in people's change process and make it harder for individuals to get the support they need along with some things they think need to change. ______________________________WE HAVE A NEW BOOK (ONLY $5 FOR A LIMITED TIME)Click here to claim the special offer. Here's an insider's taste of what you'll discover in the book...How to create uncompramising and consistent transformation, using my simple and easy to implement recovery ethos. Why the new stories you tell yourself (when you know the secrets detailed in chapter 2) maybe the most important thing you ever actualize in your recoveryThe one thing you should NEVER do when you're trying to achieve recoveryHow to make recovery feel "effortless" when practising these 11 straightforward stepsHow to immediately find and qualify that special "core group" of support people that will act as the foundation of your life re-design. One of the more frustrating things that we find about the alcohol and drug system is that there is often zero focus on the biochemical side of addiction recovery. That's why we feel incredibly lucky to have the wizard Holly Sinclair on our team. In this podcast, we talk about how people can reset their biochemistry using microbiome testing, the brain-gut axis and how personal responsibility is essential when engaging in a biochemical transformation. Here is more about Holly Sinclair and her organisation The Women's Series WOMENS HEALTH CRUSADER, B. Psy Sc, FDN-P, PT AND NATURAL THERAPISTWe are sold a message that does not support nourishment, strength or self-care. Instead, women are led to believe that starving, excessive cardio and issues such as chronic gut issues, are just what we should expect in order to uphold certain social standards. And despite the overwhelming amount of online 'fitness' professionals and the programs that accompany them, women's health has never been worse. Chronic disease, obesity and biomechanical issues are plaguing women, leaving us to wonder where did it all go wrong?I believe that education is power, which is why after spending over a decade working with both the general population and athletes, I decided to create a platform that offered just that. The Women Series was born from a desire to want to empower as many women as possible. No longer shall we go hungry, be exhausted or be told that our bodies are simply not working. Today, and every day after, we will learn how to love, create, propionate and thrive in a world that suggests we shouldn't.I'll eat to that.To find out more about The Women's Series: https://www.thewomenseries.com/_______________We have a new book!
