The Mint sign, one of the all-time great neon signs in Las Vegas. It runs a close second of the Dune turret marquee as those most missed from the landscape. The Mint was absorbed into Binion's Horseshoe in 1989. A part of the sign still exists to this day, viewable from the staircase up to Whiskey Liquor up. The Rich Zeoli Show- Hour 2: 4:05pm- Jurors began deliberation in the Donald Trump “hush money” trial on Wednesday—they were dismissed for the day after several hours and will resume at 9:30am on Thursday. Trump has been charged with having concealed payments made to adult film star Stormy Daniels. The Rich Zeoli Show- Full Episode (05/29/2024): 3:05pm- Jurors have begun deliberation in the Donald Trump “hush money” trial. Could we get a verdict before the end of the day? Trump has been charged with having concealed payments made to adult film star Stormy Daniels. Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg alleges that the payment concealment amounts to falsified business records which ultimately influenced the 2016 election. 3:30pm- While appearing on Fox News, Andrew C. McCarthy explained the bizarre instructions Judge Juan Merchan gave to the jury prior to deliberation—in order to convict former President Donald Trump, the jury is not required to agree on which crime was committed. And in a piece he wrote for National Review, McCarthy explained, Judge Merchan “effectively concealed what should have been fatal holes in [the prosecution's] case.” 3:40pm- Dr. Ben Carson—Former U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development & a Retired Neurosurgeon and Professor of Medicine at Johns Hopkins University—joins The Rich Zeoli and reacts to Joe Biden's appearance at Girard College in Philadelphia on Wednesday, where the president attempted to appeal to black voters. Dr. Carson argues that it'll take more than one trip to Philadelphia to stifle the enormous progress Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has made with black voters. Dr. Carson's new book— “The Perilous Fight: Overcoming Our Culture's War on the American Family”—which he co-authored with his wife Candy Carson, is available here: https://a.co/d/5RggqEs 3:55pm- While speaking from Girard College in Philadelphia on Wednesday, President Joe Biden asked, “what do you think Trump would have done on January 6 if black Americans had stormed the Capitol?...This is the same guy who wanted to tear gas you as you peacefully protested George Floyd's murder.” He went on to compare former President Donald Trump to a “landlord who denies housing applications because of the color of your skin.” 4:05pm- Jurors began deliberation in the Donald Trump “hush money” trial on Wednesday—they were dismissed for the day after several hours and will resume at 9:30am on Thursday. And in a piece he wrote for National Review, McCarthy explained, Judge Merchan “effectively concealed what should have been fatal holes in [the prosecution's] case.” 6:05pm- The New York Times has targeted Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito for flying an American flag upside down in response to a confrontation with a neighbor displaying a political message with an expletive. It was flown by Alito's wife—a sign of distress following the conflict. Additionally, Alito has been criticized by the left for having flown an “Appeal to Heaven” flag from his shore house in New Jersey—with the left arguing it's an insurrectionist symbol. However, the flag is associated with George Washington and John Locke and remains the official maritime flag of Massachusetts. 6:30pm- While appearing on The View, First Lady DOCTOR Jill Biden said that if Donald Trump were to appoint one more Justice to the Supreme Court, Americans would “lose all our rights!” 6:45pm- Christopher Cadelago, Sally Goldenberg, and Elena Schneider write that Democrats are in a full-blown freakout over the 2024 election cycle—specifically Joe Biden's potential performance at the top of the ticket. “A pervasive sense of fear has settled in at the highest levels of the Democratic Party over President Joe Biden's reelection prospects, even among officeholders and strategists who had previously expressed confidence about the coming battle with Donald Trump.” You can read the full article here: https://www.politico.com/news/2024/05/28/democrats-freakout-over-biden-00160047

In the aftermath of the murder of George Floyd in the summer of 2020, the "abolish the police" movement gained traction in American politics. However, in the years that followed, we learned more about policing in our communities. In the latest research, it doesn't show that Americans want fewer police. We all want better, more ordered, and safer police practices. Billy Binion is an associate editor at Reason Magazine and talks with Boyd about the ways to improve policing in America.

The Rich Zeoli Show- Hour 4: Bill Binion of Reason writes about the 1998 murder of Matthew Shepard which was labeled an anti-gay hate crime. Binion explains, “Shepard's murder was, without a doubt, an act of hate and violence. But the latter part of Biden's statement—that his murder was spurred by homophobic animus—is the most important. For years, it has been repeated in the some of the largest media outlets. It has driven federal policy. It is the part that ‘changed America,' despite all evidence pointing to the fact that it isn't true.” You can read the full article here: https://reason.com/2023/10/12/matthew-shepards-murder-was-almost-certainly-not-an-anti-gay-hate-crime/ Rich is joined by 1210 WPHT producers Anthony and Dan who are at Citizen Bank Park ahead of tonight's game 4 playoff matchup between the Philadelphia Phillies and Atlanta Braves. Steve Scalise (R-LA) to be the next Speaker of the House—113 to 99. However, it is worth noting that former Speaker Kevin McCarthy won his party's support last November with 188 votes before ultimately requiring 15-votes to officially win the speakership. During an interview with Jake Tapper on CNN, Representative Nancy Mace (R-SC) said despite the vote she will not vote for Scalise, and that there were at least twelve other House Republicans that feel similarly.
The Rich Zeoli Show- Full Episode (10/12/2023): 3:05pm- In a post to the social media outlet X, Reason editor and podcaster Nick Gillespie discussed the libertarian response to the October 7th Hamas terror attacks against Israel. Gillespie explains, “I'm increasingly frustrated by whataboutist libertarian takes on indefensible Hamas terrorism that seemingly deny Israel's unquestionable right to respond to war crimes committed within its own borders. If your first—or second, or third—response to civilian deaths is to point out that not all the children were decapitated, you're doing it wrong. These takes tend to conflate questions of legitimate national self-defense on the part of a country and possible US intervention that is often morally, strategically, and pragmatically suspect. A similar conflation was evident when Russia invaded Ukraine, with too many libertarians justifying Putin's war-of-choice as the inevitable result of US foreign policy, impugning Ukrainians defending themselves, or waving away solidarity with and empathy for the invaded as ‘CIA talking points.' Same with Taiwan and Hong Kong. But the righteousness of self-defense and American military involvement are totally separate matters. More than most nations, Israel is capable of defending itself (and will do so with greater restraint than most countries would in similar circumstances). The US should not become involved militarily even as we should offer humanitarian aid and assistance, including to Gazans suffering under Hamas rule. We shouldn't be the world's policeman (the past 20 years of our foreign policy testify to that) but we also can play a role in minimizing conflict and suffering.” You can listen to Gillespie's podcast here: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/EBfQXtaCpKg 3:40pm- Kara Scannell of CNN reports that, “[f]ederal prosecutors on Thursday announced an additional charge against New Jersey Democratic Sen. Bob Menendez and his wife, alleging they conspired to have the senator act as a foreign agent of Egypt. The superseding indictment filed against Menendez, who was chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee at the time of the alleged actions, adds a new dimension to the case by alleging a US senator was working on behalf of another country.” In September, Menendez was charged with accepting hundreds of thousands of dollars in bribes with federal prosecutors finding $500,000 in cash, as well as gold bars, in Menendez's home—some of which contained fingerprints or DNA of Fred Daibes, a real estate developer accused of bribing Menendez and his wife Nadine.
