Jeffery Wilson returns to discuss his latest publication, "Ancient Monuments of the Mississippi Valley, Expanded Edition." Jeffrey gives us new insights into Chillicothe's antiquarian research team's documentation of mounds in the Ohio Valley. What did their original notes state about their observations? Were their drawings different than what was printed? How do the differences change our understanding of prehistory? Of course, we will get into the mysteries at the Serpent Mound. Jeffrey will be a presenter at this year's Loveland Frogman Convention too. https://serpentmoundbooks.com/?fbclid=IwAR2fiTPEIE0vFMSkubqiWkVKty1h8-KIE5xQWsCs3UdRm2m24fUeLMBGj_I

Graham Hancock is catching a new wave of popularity! Thanks to his latest documentary on Netflix, "Ancient Apocalypse". The main stream (orthodox) academics like to label him a pseudoscientist. You could say they think he is a "quack" or a "fraud". What arrogance! Mr. Hancock has spent over 30 years investigating & collaborating with some of the best scientist, geologist, architects, and astronomers to piece together his theories. In many cases he brings indisputable proof the history we are force fed is absolutely impossible. Take one example, Baalbek, Lebanon. One of the largest and heaviest stones ever used in construction. 1200 TONS! (2.6 million pounds). TRANSPORTED from a quarry quite a distance. Lifted into place. Perfectly cut angles. Placed with no mortar. You can't even place a razor blade, hell a human hair between the stones! The Great Pyramids have much the same story. Just not as large of stones, but considerably more quantity. I will give you a quick synopsis of who Graham is, and his accomplishments. Then we will move on to his fascinating discoveries & theories (that actually make logical sense compared to the main stream). - Lost civilizations. He has proposed many civilizations have existed predating recorded history. - Ancient Monuments & Megaliths. Proof of technology that cannot be explained has been discovered. Consider some things accomplished in ancient history, we can't replicate now. Yet you have been taught simple minded hunter gatherers with bronze tools made these wonders. - Advanced Knowledge. Astrological alignment perfectly to stars, the sun, and moon! True north alignment of structures shows understanding of the earths poles. Vast amounts of structures built worldwide with similar techniques & shared cultural stories. This suggests communication & travel ability world wide! - Altered States of Consciousness. Sites have been discovered having remnants of psychoactive substances. Graham believes this was integral to spiritual practices & beliefs. We are just know becoming aware of the mind expanding, healing properties these substances possess. Some tribal cultures exist now & still use the ancient practices of their elders, or shaman. This is just another example in recent times how we have come across some of these practices. - Catastrophic Events & Apocalypses. The Earth has experienced a cycle of different calamities that have now been proven. Some are still being discovered. Yet some are still just theories. Pole shifts, Floods, Asteroid impacts, Earthquakes, & Volcanic explosions! Many myths & legends correspond across the ancient world. Meaning maybe not all are just myth. Graham Hancocks is groundbreaking & inspirational. Not just for me, but many other people. There is validity & great importance in his work. As I always like to remind everyone, the TRUTH is often stranger than fiction! Thanks for listening! Please rate, review, and share. Also, look for the monthly SUPPORT link at the bottom. Join Rachel Hurdley as she opens the front door to step into a story of security, sociability, style and even the supernatural. The front door may seem to be just a simple way of coming in and out of a house, but it almost always reveals more about the householder than they might expect. The style of door, its colour, the letter box, doorbell, even perhaps the house name, are all chosen to present an image to the outside world. In this programme, Rachel reveals how to interpret a front door and how developments in their design and use over the centuries reflect social changes. Rachel starts at Chepstow Castle, where she admires what's thought to be the oldest castle door in Europe and finds out why it was built to provide a strong deterrent to intruders; at the moated manor house of Baddesley Clinton she discovers how Medieval and Tudor home owners used their doors to ward off evil spirits; in Bath she goes back to the time of Jane Austen to hear about the social etiquette of paying a visit; moving forward to the 19th century she learns why the Victorians loved to put a house name on their front door; and finally she visits the Becontree Estate in East London and sees how the building boom of the 1920s and 30s meant many families had their own front door for the first time. In this episode, Nate goes further into the occult science of esoteric Freemasonry, putting a finer point on the symbolism within the "Entered Apprentice" Trestle Board. The symbols covered are the Checkerboard Floor, the Level, Plum-Rule, and Square, the 3 Greater Lights, the dot within a circle, the "Floor Plan," the 3 initiates, Jacob's Ladder, the Key, the Anchor, and the 3 Columns. Does this information conceal the timeless language back to the Ancient Monuments? Does it really help reveal the map of consciousness, symbolically? And what makes this information last the test of time?
Rachel Hurdley opens the window on an architectural feature which reveals a story of conflict, hierarchy, status and ventilation. The history of windows in our homes begins with simple openings, designed to let in some light and air but small enough to protect the occupants from intruders. Glass was rare and expensive so only the wealthiest could afford to show off their affluence with a display of glazed windows. But, as the technology of glass making developed, windows became larger and made a statement about sophistication and modernity. Rachel traces the history of the window from the arrow loops of Chepstow Castle to the massive plate glass windows of the 20th century and beyond. She visits Gloucester Cathedral to admire a stained glass window which was said to be the largest in the world when it was created and discovers how its design reinforced the medieval social order. Rachel also goes back to the 1590s to find out why Hardwick Hall was described as ‘More Glass Than Wall' and how its many windows were used to show off wealth and status. She discovers how department stores with their tempting window displays brought about social change and played a part in female liberation and she considers why windows suddenly got so much bigger in the early years of the 20th century. Along the way, Rachel hears from the Poet Laureate, Simon Armitage, about how his lockdown window provided poetic inspiration and she reflects on the central question of the window – are we inside looking out or outside looking in? This week on Expanded Perspectives Classic Rewind we go all the way back to April 7th, 2014 when we spoke with Rick Osmon about Romans in America prior to Christopher Columbus. Rick Osmon was selected for the United States Air Force Academy right out of high school. He later attended Vincennes University and earned an Associates of Science in Laser and Electro-Optics Technology. He worked for defense contractors a number of years and then took a job with the US Navy as a civilian with an engineering support field activity, specializing in radar, night vision, and laser equipment for surveillance and munitions guidance. Most of this work was in direct support of Special Operations forces equipment acquisitions. In that capacity, Rick also became familiar with video-teleconferencing technology. But all those years, Rick was also reading everything he could find about the weird and unusual, history, archeology, paleontology, geography, cartography, cryptozoology, cryptography, and hollow earth theory. After leaving government employment in early 2005, Rick began this hunt for hidden knowledge full-time. He also began blogging, researching, and writing, and, in early 2007, started an internet radio show entitled “The Oopa Loopa Cafe”. In 2008, he began pestering his long-time research buddy, Dennis Crenshaw, to start another internet show about the various mysteries. Dennis chose the title “Unraveling the Secrets”. At the beginning of 2010, those 2 shows became part of an affiliation network with other show hosts to form Paranormal Soup Network. By the end of 2010, the endeavor was re-branded and renamed the Soup Media Network. Now Rick is becoming well known on the conference circuit and is writing more than blogs. His first book, The Graves of the Golden Bear; Ancient Monuments and Fortresses of the Ohio Valley released in October 2011. Hop Forward: Getting You Ahead in the Brewing and Beer Business
There are countless stories of brewers, cider and wine makers across the world who have abandoned city life and the smell of smog for the countryside and the aroma of freshly malted barley and green hops. One such couple to take such a bold step are Miranda Hudson and Derek Bates, founders of Duration Brewing. Leaving a brewing post at Brew by Numbers and architects in London respectively, Bates and Miranda covered a majestic site in West Acre, Norfolk, rooted amongst the ruins of the 12 century priory. Duration is nestled in ancient woodlands midway along the Nar Valley Pilgrim Trail. In the ruins of an old priory and by the banks of a chalk river, with seasonal camping and a variety of accommodation close by. Having worked tirelessly on planning applications to convert a 16th century barn on a site that holds the same Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Areas protection as Stonehenge was a massive undertaking in and of itself, let alone the conversion and construction of the site from a derelict ruin to brewhouse containing a near-fully automated German brewhouse and all mod-cons while retaining its charm and character. Fortune favours the brave and Bates and Miranda brewed their first beer on 23rd October 2019. Beers such as the piney West Coast IPA, Remember When the Pub, and the juicy, soft, tropical APA called Turtles All The Way Down are a shining example of the quality that craft beer geeks and local residents alike could look forward to for many years to come. The future was looking bright. Then, Covid-19 would plunge the brewery into uncertainty. Times like this really are make or break for people, especially those who have put their heart and their soul and much on the line to accomplish their goals and see their vision fulfilled. In this recent conversation with Miranda, you’ll hear in detail about the challenges she and Bates have experienced over the years of putting together Duration. We discuss their story, their ethos, and share some experiences of pre and post covid times, while looking to a promising future and remaining thankful, regardless of the current circumstances. Perhaps things may not have transpired for Duration as they’d originally planned, but the best laid plans of mice and men can’t keep Miranda and Bates from doing it anyway…! Sharing Passions: discovery, documentation and the destruction of cultural heritage in the Middle East and North Africa. A tribute to Dr Andrea Zerbini (1984-2019) Slides of this lecture to accompany the audio recording can be found here: https://cbrl.ac.uk/event/discovery-documentation-and-the-destruction-of-cultural-heritage-in-the-mena-region Archaeologists thrive on discovering places, objects or stories about the past, especially when they give us a sense of identity and meaning in our modern lives. Archaeologists also love to travel but also want to understand their roots and where they came from too. This talk will explore these aspects in terms of what it means to be an archaeologist working in the twenty-first century as well the challenges of working in the Middle East and North Africa. These include harnessing the latest technology, to help preserve the ever-threatened cultural heritage. The talk will be a tribute to the life and work of Dr Andrea Zerbini. About the speaker: Robert Bewley has been Director of the Endangered Archaeology in the Middle East and North Africa project, University of Oxford since 2015. He has been Co-Director of the Aerial Archaeology in Jordan project since 1998, and very recently was able to set up the Aerial Archaeology in Oman project. Welcome back Folks of the Interwebs...Double J here...I will be your pilot and navigator for this somewhat shenanigan infused journey into the mind of this particular Garbage Can Dood. Today I get the astute honor to sit down with local standup comedian, podcaster, coffee barista, real-life carnie, & military veteran, Mr. Dan Dean. Where we discuss ‘Merica...specifically, where is it? where ya at, ‘Merica? I can’t find ya. I share with Dan (and you folks of the Interwebs) a tale where myself (Double J here) is a wanted man from multiple law enforcement agencies here in ‘Merica’s #1 drug overdose capital of ‘Merica, Clermont County Ohio. It appears that my professional life as a Private Detective has now mashed with my Operation GCD biz...cause these folks have actually forgot they live in ‘Merica & it’s a story that I feel is indicative of a larger problem today in ‘Merica. Also in today’s Pode we tackle the dilemma over the origins of Cheesecake...and why it’s a “cake” & not a “pie”... On this episode of Expanded Perspectives we discuss the recently captured Chupacabra, UFO sightings over Canada, Gigantic Stone Wall found in Siberia, Russia and we speak with Rick Osmon about Romans in America prior to Christopher Columbus. After leaving government employment in early 2005, Rick began this hunt for hidden knowledge full time. He also began blogging, researching, and writing, and, in early 2007, started an internet radio show entitled "The Oopa Loopa Cafe". In 2008, he began pestering his long time research buddy, Dennis Crenshaw, to start another internet show about the various mysteries. Dennis chose the title "Unraveling the Secrets". Melvyn Bragg and his guests discuss Hadrian's Wall, the largest Roman structure and one of the most important archaeological monuments in Britain. Stretching for eighty miles from the mouth of the River Tyne to the Solway Firth and classified today as a World Heritage Site, it has been a source of fascination ever since it came into existence. It was built in about 122 AD by the Emperor Hadrian, and a substantial part of it still survives today. Although its construction must have entailed huge cost and labour, the Romans abandoned it within twenty years, deciding to build the Antonine Wall further north instead. Even after more than a century of excavations, many mysteries still surround Hadrian's Wall, including its exact purpose. Did it have a meaningful defensive role or was it mainly a powerful emperor's vanity project? With: Greg Woolf Professor of Ancient History at the University of St AndrewsDavid Breeze Former Chief Inspector of Ancient Monuments for Scotland and Visiting Professor of Archaeology at the University of DurhamLindsay Allason-Jones Former Reader in Roman Material Culture at the University of NewcastleProducer: Victoria Brignell.
