Southport Atrocity Fallout: Did Silence From Starmer and Police Fuel the Riots?  #SouthportRiots #KeirStarmer #UKPolitics #PoliceAccountability #FreedomOfSpeech In the aftermath of the Southport atrocity and the violent unrest that followed, a growing number of voices—including legal experts and counter-terrorism advisors—are questioning whether the government's lack of transparency helped ignite the very violence it aimed to prevent. Jon Gaunt examines: • The official report from the Chief Inspector of Constabulary. • Criticism of Prime Minister Keir Starmer's crisis response. • The role of misinformation and the consequences of an information vacuum. • Public perceptions of policing bias—and why they matter. • Allegations of unfair imprisonment and tragic consequences. Jon Gaunt also proposes constructive steps forward, including a review of prosecutions, a public inquiry into the communications failure, and reforms to police disclosure protocols. This is a sensitive and complex topic, handled with care and respect. The goal is not to inflame but to inform—and to ask whether government caution actually made things worse.

The Connecticut Office of the Inspector General released a report determining detention staff were not at fault for the in-custody death of a Hartford woman last year. That news broke earlier this month and a lot of times, when you hear inspector general, many wonder how exactly does the job work? For example, how does the office determine an officer-involved shooting is deemed justified or not? We asked James Viadero, Chief Inspector for the Office of the Inspector General. A police affidavit says Tiffany Adams allegedly gave statements indicating she was responsible for the deaths of Veronica Butler and Jillian Kelley.  Investigators now say they believe Butler and Jillian Kelley were lured to the location, arriving around  9:40 a.m. Besides the pools of blood, officers found Butler's glasses on the ground near a broken hammer.  Police say they believe the women were forced into another vehicle. Much information has been released in the probable cause affidavit, but not the women's cause of death. The bodies were found in a cattle pasture, leased by Tad Bert Cullum, the boyfriend of grandmother Tiffany Adams.  The location was narrowed down by cellphone data from three burner phones purchased by Adams. The phones first pinged at the location of Butler's abandoned car, the data then led police to the pasture property. Obvious signs of digging were discovered. A hole had been dug and filled back in. Inside the hole were the bodies of the missing women. The motive, according to investigators, is custody of Butler's two children: a custody battle has gone on for more than five years. Father Wrangler Rickman, Tiffany Adam's son, had custody of the children, but Rickman was confirmed to be in a rehabilitation facility in Oklahoma City.   Veronica Butler's custody arrangement allowed her supervised visitation with her children every Saturday. And reportedly, according to Butler's attorney, she was likely to be granted unsupervised visitation during an upcoming hearing. The affidavit states that  “Adams vehemently opposed this and went to great lengths to plan and purchase items used in Butler and Kelley's murders,” It continues... “Adams, Cullum, Cole and Cora were willing to kidnap and murder two victims to limit visitation for Butler.” Court documents allege that Adams and the other suspects tried to killer Butler once before in February.  Adams, her boyfriend, and the other couple drove to Butler's home near Hugoton, Kansas, intending to kill her. A witness told investigators that the planned was to throw an anvil through Butler's windshield while she was driving. They reasoned that it would look like an accident, but Butler did not leave her home. As state investigators pulled information from Adams' phone, it showed web searches for “taser pain level, gun shops, prepaid cellular phones, and how to get someone out of their house."  That's also according to the probable cause documents.  Adams reportedly purchased five stun guns before the women's disappearances, according to the documents. She bought three prepaid, unregistered burner phones from a Walmart near her.  All the prepaid burners stopped transmitting the mornings the women went missing. Nicholas Alahverdian's obituary appeared on a memorial site called Ever Loved. It detailed how the man, who grew up in foster care became a Harvard Graduate and a vocal critic of Rhode Island's childcare system after suffering sexual abuse as a child.  It also detailed how Alahverdian died of Hodgin's Lymphoma at 32 years old, leaving behind a wife and two young children who remained at his bedside as he died. Alahverdian's death was a lie, an elaborate scheme created by Nicholas Rossi, a man charged with sexually assaulting a former girlfriend in Orem, Utah as well as multiple complaints against him in Rhode Island for alleged domestic violence.  David Rossi, the stepfather says at an early age Nicholas would hit his mother, grandmother, and siblings, and wouldn't listen in school. Alahverdian was placed in psychiatric care. Nicholas Alahverdian, using the name Rossi, was accused of assaulting a young woman he met at Sinclair Community College in Ohio. The two had lunch together.  Alahverdian offered to walk the co-ed to her next class. The coed claims Alahverdian then pinned her against a wall in a basement, groped her, and masturbated. Alahverdian apologized and asked the girl not to tell anybody. She made a police report and Alahverdian, aka Rossi, was convicted of public indecency and sexual imposition, and was required to register as a sex offender. Two years later, police are called to an apartment in Rhode Island.  Officers can hear arguing and screaming. When a woman comes to the door, she has marks on her face neck, and left eye and her right eye is swelling. The woman tells police she and Alahverdian were arguing and when she tried to leave he slapped her in the face. Police arrest Alahverdian who proclaims his innocence and begins banging his head on the bars in the back of the squad car. Officers have to use pepper spray to make him stop trying to hurt himself. Alahverdian pleads no-contest to domestic simple assault. Testing reveals Alahverdian's DNA is present in a rape case, and other allegations have already been lodged. Fraud charges also land in Alahverdian's lap, and this is when he fakes his death and heads overseas. The death of Nicholas Alahverdian is met with skepticism.  Alahverdian's foster mother Sharon Lane said she was contacted by Alahverdian's biological mother.   The minute Sharon Lane read the obituary, she believed it was written by Alahverdian himself. Utah authorities continued investigating the first rape allegation against Nicholas Alahverdian and issued a warrant for his arrest seven months after he supposedly died. An FBI search of Alahverdian's iCloud account and cell phone records led investigators to Scotland. As investigations were looking for Nicholas Alahverdian and Nichols Rossi in the United States, a man named Arthur Knight was being treated for Covid-19 at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow.  He had been living a happy new life,  married a woman named Miranda, and worked as a tutor, but then he suffered a serious case of pneumonitis, caused by Covid-19. Someone recognized him through his distinctive tattoos. They were a match to those from a Pawtucket police booking photo of him.  In December 2021,  they arrested the convicted sex offender in the Glasgow hospital. Authorities say Knight was just one of Alahverdian's 16 known aliases, which include Nicholas Rossi, Nicholas Brown, Arthur Brown, and Arthur Knight-Brown. Nicholas Alahverdian fought extradition back to the US.  For over two years, Alahverdian exhausted every legal avenue available in the UK. Ultimately the courts ruled he was a wanted fugitive and agreed to the United States' request to send him home.  Joining Nancy Grace Today: Greg Ahlgren  – International Attorney-at-Law at the US-MX Law Group, Ltd. & DRT Alliance/Diaz Reus International Law Firm Dr. Jeff Kieliszewski  - Forensic Psychologist, Author: " Dark Sides;" YouTube: Dr. Jeff Kieliszewski,  rv Brandt – Senior Inspector, US Marshals Service International Investigations Branch; Chief Inspector, DOJ Office of International Affairs, US Embassy Kingston, Jamaica; Author: “SOLO SHOT: CURSE OF THE BLUE STONE” – AVAILABLE ON AMAZON IN JANUARY; ALSO “FLYING SOLO: Top of the World;” Twitter: @JackSoloAuthor Brett Brown - Executive Director of SASS Go (Surviving Assault Standing Strong, a Nonprofit on a mission to eradicate abuse, trafficking, and violence against women and girls globally; @sassgoglobal on FB, Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok  Tim White - Investigative Reporter and Managing Editor for WPRI-TV (A CBS News affiliate), Co-Author: “The Last Good Heist: The Inside Story of The Biggest Single Payday in the Criminal History of the Northeast;" Adjunct Professor of Journalism at Roger Williams University in RI; X: @timwhiteRI, FB: Tim White-WPRI   See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Just after midnight, Kimberlee Singler, 35, calls 911 to report a home break-in. She tells police that her two of her children have been murdered.  The police response report says Officers found "an adult female and an 11-year-old female who had sustained injuries," as well as a 9-year-old girl and 7-year-old boy who were "deceased at the scene." Singler's third child, the 11-year-old daughter was transported to a local hospital for treatment.  She is hospitalized for a few days and then released. Singler is also treated for minor injuries.   As police investigate the reported burglary, Singler works with officers, giving statements about what happened.  Then police determined the burglary report is unfounded, and present evidence to obtain a warrant for Singler's arrest, but the mom is nowhere to be found. Since she was not a suspect, Singler was not under surveillance and by the time she needed to be, she was gone. Police uncover an ongoing legal battle between the mom and her ex-husband Kevin Wentz.  Wentz's attorneys say their contentious divorce and custody dispute has been going on for over five years.  Just three months ago, Kimberlee Singler filed a request for a temporary protection order in El Paso County. She claims Kevin Wentz waved a knife at her. Wentz denies the allegations. Two months later,  in a different jurisdiction, a Larimer County court held a hearing on Singler's emergency motion to restrict parenting time over the same allegations about the knife. The court rescinded the order finding there was no imminent threat from Wentz. The court ordered that the children have additional time with their father, Kevin Wentz, around Thanksgiving and again December 16 through December 31.   It was arranged for the child exchanges to take place at a police station in Colorado Springs and the Greely Police Station.  When Singler failed to show up with the children, Wentz's attorney filed an emergency motion to law enforcement for assistance to enforce parenting time. The Court granted the motion. Wentz was awarded custody.    The Colorado Springs police investigation led to the charges against Kimberlee Singler. On December 26th, investigators established probable cause and obtained an arrest warrant for Kimberlee Singler on the multiple charges, including 2 counts – Murder in the First Degree, Class One Felony ,  1 count – Criminal Attempt – Murder in the First Degree Child Abuse, and Assault in the First Degree.  Details of the arrest warrant are currently sealed under court order and are expected to be unsealed at a later time. Singler was arrested in London and is fighting her extradition.  Joining Nancy Grace Today: Eric Faddis  - Partner of Varner Faddis Elite Legal, former felony prosecutor and current criminal defense and civil litigation attorney,  www.varnerfaddis.com, Instagram: @e_fad @varnerfaddis; TikTok: @varnerfaddis  Dr. Angela Arnold - Psychiatrist, , AngelaArnoldMD.com, Expert in the Treatment of Pregnant/Postpartum Women, Former Assistant Professor of Psychiatry, Obstetrics and Gynecology: Emory University, Former Medical Director of The Psychiatric Ob-Gyn Clinic at Grady Memorial Hospital, Voted My Buckhead's Best Psychiatric Practice of 2023  Irv Brandt -  Senior Inspector, US Marshals Service International Investigations Branch, Chief Inspector, DOJ Office of International Affairs; Author: “SOLO SHOT: CURSE OF THE BLUE STONE” available on Amazon, Also "FLYING SOLO: Top of the World" Twitter: @JackSoloAuthor   Dr. Eric Eason  - Board Certified Forensic Pathologist, consultant, Instagram: @eric_a_eason, Facebook: Eric August Eason, LinkedIn: Eric Eason, MD   Heather Skold - KRDO13 Anchor and Reporter, www.krdo.com , FB: HeatherSkoldNC13, IG: Heatherskoldkrdo, X: @HeatherSkold13/@Krdo_13   See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Decatur, Alabama police get a call for a well check on 36-year-old Cindy Crow.  WAFF reports a family member believed  Crow to be 8-months pregnant. Crow, however, looked like  she had lost a lot of weight, overnight. The family member, a sister,  told police that she had seen Crow leaving her home, with a large, white trash bag in the back floorboard of her car.  In the home, bloody feminine products were found in the trash.  Police contacted Crow at work, where she agreed to go to the hospital to prove that she was not pregnant.  While waiting for the test results, Crow gave an officer consent to search her cell phone, where he found the app LIFE360.   This allowed the detective to trace the route Cindy Crow took when she left her home with the white trash bag.   Using information garnered from the LIFE360 app, detectives found a location with a dumpster, Wally World Mini-Mart.  Investigators searched of the inside of the dumpster and found the trash bag containing the deceased body of a newborn baby girl. It was stuffed in the bottom of the dumpster under several other large bags of trash. Cindy Crow was arrested and so far is charged with abuse of a corpse. After opening statements, witness testimony began in Kaitlyn Armstrong's murder trial. Mo Wilson's brother, Matt Wilson, answered questions about Wilson's professional cycling and what type of person she was. Wilson testified that Mo Wilson and Colin Strickland were not having a romantic relationship when she was killed. The woman that Mo Wilson stayed with in Austin and whose apartment in which she was killed, Caitlin Cash, said the same thing when asked about the Wilson / Strickland relationship. Caitlin Cash also testified on how she found Mo Wilson on the floor of her apartment bathroom covered in blood. The state also played the call Cash made to 911. Cash cried while the recording of her call was played in court.  During ADA Ricky Jones' opening statement, he said Armstrong knew that Wilson was in town because the day before the shooting she looked Wilson up four times on a phone app called Strava that showed where Wilson planned to race and gave the address of the house where Wilson was staying. Jones also pointed out that Armstrong had used Colin Strickland's login information on her cell phone and looked up pictures of Mo Wilson. A jury had been set and opening argument will be presented today in the murder trial of Kaitlyn Armstrong. The yoga instructor is accused of killing professional cyclist Moriah "Mo" Wilson.  Wilson was in Austin to tackle the “Gravel Locos” race in Hico. As luck would have it, Wilson has friends in the area, so instead of booking a hotel, bunks down with her friend. The friend already has plans for the evening, but that's ok. Wilson has plans of her own. She tells her friend that she's meeting up with a guy she dated briefly, to go swimming, grab a meal, catching up.   Wilson's friend was also Kaitlyn Armstrong's boyfriend. During a brief period when Armstrong and Colin Strickland were separated, he and Wilson dated. It made Armstrong angry, to the point that she confronted Wilson, telling her not to contact Strickland.   When Mo Wilson's friend returns home from her dinner plans, she finds Wilson unresponsive inside the home. There's blood everywhere and her friend is in the bathroom, lodged between the toilet and the wall. 911 is called. Police arrived to find Wilson has been shot multiple times, with a 9mm weapon,  and it doesn't appear the shooting is random. As the Austin Police Department investigate, they reach out to neighbors,  asking for surveillance video. A neighbor's camera, pointed at the driveway of the home where Wilson was staying, caught a Black Jeep Grand Cherokee driving  past the house just one minute after Wilson went inside.  In the meantime, police reach out to Colin Strickland, who agrees to an interview at his home. When the police arrived, they see a Black Jeep Grand Cherokee in the driveway... The same one, seen in the surveillance video. It belongs to Strickland's girlfriend Kaitlyn Armstrong.   Police begin to look at Kaitlyn Armstrong as a suspect.   An anonymous caller tells  police Armstrong said she wanted to kill Wilson, and even bought a gun.  On May 12th Kaitlin Armstrong was brought in for questioning but APD wasn't able to get probable cause until May 17. When Armstrong spoke with homicide detectives, she couldn't explain why her SUV was in the area the night Mo Wilson was murdered. Police release Armstrong. When officers try to talk to Armstrong again, she is nowhere to be found.  Three days later, a video is released of Armstrong in Austin's airport.  Investigators say she flew from Austin to Houston and then on to New York.  Surveillance footage shows Kaitlin Armstrong flying into New York's La Guardia airport on May 14th, then on May 18th, the day after a murder warrant was issued for Armstrong, someone dropped her off at New Jersey's Newark airport, but there's no record of her taking a flight. US Marshalls tracked Armstrong to Costa Rica. She had used a family members passport to get there. She had died her hair and had plastic surgery to change her appearance.  After a 43 day manhunt, Kaitlyn Armstrong is taken into custody.  Joining Nancy Grace Today: Alan Bennett – Former Assistant District Attorney, Partner at Gunter, Bennett, and Anthes, gbafirm.com Dr. Bethany Marshall (Beverly Hills, CA), - Psychoanalyst www.drbethanymarshall.com/, Instagram & TikTok: drbethanymarshall, Twitter: @DrBethanyLive   Irv Brandt -  Senior Inspector, US Marshals Service International Investigations Branch, Chief Inspector, DOJ Office of International Affairs; Author: “SOLO SHOT: CURSE OF THE BLUE STONE” available on Amazon, Also "FLYING SOLO: Top of the World" Twitter: @JackSoloAuthor Joe Scott Morgan –  Professor of Forensics: Jacksonville State University, Author, "Blood Beneath My Feet", Host: "Body Bags with Joseph Scott Morgan", Twitter: @JoScottForensic   Tony Plohetski -  Investigative Reporter, Austin American-Statesman and KVUE, Twitter: @tplohetski (512) 507-0532 See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Jordan DeMay was a popular, well-liked sports star at his Michigan high school. The 17-year-old took his own life just hours after someone demanded money to keep a compromising photo from being sent to his parents and friends. The extortionists, a group of men from Nigeria who have targeted more than 100 children and adults, initially contacted DeMay over a hacked social media account, posing as a teen girl who enticed Jordan into sending a nude photo. The sextortionist then flipped the script, pressuring DeMay to pay to keep the photo private. The teen sent everything he had, totaling $300. The perpetrators wanted more. Police say the entire sequence of events appeared to have taken about six hours, until deputies responded to the DeMay home just after 7:30 a.m. The family is now hopeful Jordan will receive justice. FBI agents, with help from Nigerian law enforcement tracked down the three men behind the international sextortion ring. Samuel Ogoshi, 22, and Samson Ogoshi, 20, have now been extradited from Lagos to Michigan to face charges related to sextortion and Demay's death. Authorities are still working to extradite a third suspect, Ezekiel Robert. Later that afternoon, Smyth reaches out to the young woman and shows up at her dorm.     After some small talk, Ben suggests the two play a game of "truth or dare." Smyth reportedly starts kissing her and asking her about her sexual history. Smyth pushes her shoulders to lay her down on the floor. The woman pushes Smyth off of her and tells him she “does not want to do that." Even though the young woman tells Ben Smyth she does not want to have sex, the teen swimmer reportedly ignores her, takes off his shirt and pants, and grabs the woman by the back of her head, continuing the assault. It's been nearly two decades since Alabama teen Natalee Holloway disappeared in Aruba. Now, the man last seen with Holloway and also the man suspected of killing her will be extradited to the US. Joran van der Sloot will not be on trial for Holloway's murder however, but for extortion of money from her mother, Beth Holloway. Beth Holloway says van der Sloot reached out to an attorney promising to explain what happened to Natalee and lead authorities to the remains. He asked for $250,000, which was $25,000 wired to him as part of an FBI sting. This is the basis of the current wire fraud and extortion charges against him. Van der Sloot fled Aruba to Peru where he was arrested for the murder of 21-year-old Stephany Flores. She died five years, to the day, of Natalee's disappearance. Joran van der Sloot was convicted and has been serving a 28-year prison sentence.   An extradition treaty with Peru is making temporary extradition possible.  Joining Nancy Grace today:  Dale Carson - High Profile Criminal Defense Attorney (Jacksonville), Former FBI Agent, and Former Police Officer (Miami-Dade County); Author: "Arrest-Proof Yourself;" Twitter: @DaleCarsonLaw  Caryn Stark - Psychologist- Trauma and Crime Expert; Twitter: @carnpsych Sheryl McCollum - Cold Case Investigative Research Institute Founder and Host of the new podcast: "Zone 7;", Twitter: @149Zone7   Irv Brandt - Senior Inspector, US Marshals Service- International Investigations Branch; Chief Inspector, DOJ Office of International Affairs; Author: “SOLO SHOT: CURSE OF THE BLUE STONE” (available on Amazon); Also: "FLYING SOLO: Top of the World;" Twitter: @JackSoloAuthor   Joseph Scott Morgan - Professor of Forensics: Jacksonville State University, Author, "Blood Beneath My Feet;" Host: "Body Bags with Joseph Scott Morgan;" Twitter: @medcolegaldeath  Art Harris -Two-time Emmy-Winning Investigative Journalist See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
