Bonus content at wickedproblems.earth Overshoot, a new four-part documentary series from climate strategist and Wicked Problems alum Laurie Laybourn—goes further than nearly anyone has before. And he came back to unpack some of the key ideas in Overshoot and what he hopes people will do with it.In Overshoot the story starts with the fact that we can no longer avoid the storm, we've enetered it. How to survive and steer through it—generation after generation—is the conversation we urgently need to have now. Drawing on interviews with diplomats, scientists, and communities on the frontlines, Laybourn dismantles the win/lose logic that has dominated climate politics since Paris and asks what it means to live in an age of overlapping crises and hard adaptation choices. Our conversation ranges from the myth of Easter Island to the politics of “carbon sucking,” from managed retreat in Wales to the legal aftershocks of 1.5°C's failure. It's a clear-eyed look at what comes next—and why, even at the moment of “net zero,” we'll be living in the most dangerous period in human history. Hosted on Acast. Send us a textMargie Goldsmith, author of Becoming a Badass: From Fearful to Fierce, suggests "do one thing every day that scares you" – a mantra that transformed her into the adventure-seeking "badass" she is today. She shares captivating stories from her journeys across more than 100 countries, revealing how memorable travel experiences often arise from unexpected human connections. We start in the remote mountain paths of Bhutan, where Margie found herself teaching American camp songs to fascinated schoolchildren. In Morocco, what began as local women laughing at her marathon training outfit evolved into a joyous mountain-top celebration. Her tales take us to Mongolia, where an 85-year-old toothless horseman (the country's fastest racehorse rider) led her across vast plains, and to Easter Island, where she recounts the dangerous traditional Birdman competition where participants risk their lives.Whether she's distributing harmonicas to children in developing nations, playing blues with an Acadian women's drum corps in Canada, or exchanging personal items with a mountain guide in Argentina despite having no common language, her tales ring with authenticity, and resonate decades later. From following a Finnish reindeer herder through Lapland's snowy forests to navigating past aggressive elephant seals in Antarctica, Margie demonstrates how facing fears leads to extraordinary experiences and personal growth. This engaging conversation, including many of Lea's travel tales as well, will inspire you to seek authentic connections in your travels – and challenge yourself, as Margie does. As she proves through her harmonica performance ending the episode, it's never too late to develop new passions and continue growing through travel and creative expression._____Margie Goldsmith is an award-winning writer, musician, and author of Becoming a Badass: From Fearful to Fierce, available in print, Kindle and audiobook, with Margie narrating (including some of her music!). Can a decades-old drug unlock new possibilities for longevity? Rapamycin, originally discovered in the 1970s on Easter Island, was once used solely as an anti-rejection medication for organ transplants. Today, at much lower and less frequent doses, it is being studied and repurposed for its potential to extend health span, reduce inflammation, and support overall vitality. In this episode, Bryana Gregory, pharmacist and physician liaison, breaks down the history of rapamycin, the design and findings of the 2024 Pearl Study, and why proper compounding matters for bioavailability and effectiveness. She also explains how this drug works on the mTOR pathway, helping improve cellular function, brain clarity, skin health, and even bone density and lean muscle mass in some patients. If you're curious about repurposed drugs, longevity, or ways to reduce inflammation naturally, this discussion sheds light on how rapamycin may become an important tool for the future of wellness. In this episode of Supply Chain Now, Scott Luton welcomes Lushentha Naidoo, Managing Director of the European Supplier Diversity Program (ESDP), for a candid conversation on purpose-driven leadership and the business value of inclusive procurement. Drawing on a 14-year transformation career at Unilever and a personal journey from apartheid-era South Africa to global operations leadership, Lushentha shares how caring as a leadership “superpower” can fuel innovation, save jobs, and build psychologically safe teams. She explains how supplier diversity isn't charity. It's a competitive advantage that increases agility, strengthens resilience, and unlocks fresh thinking when disruption hits. She also breaks down how ESDP bridges corporates and diverse suppliers through a fast-growing database, networking events, and the Inclusive Procurement Academy, teaching pitching, storytelling, and “corporate readiness.” From real success stories (mentorship that kept a founder in the fight) to pragmatic guidance for senior leaders doubling down on DEI, this conversation offers actionable takeaways: define the why, build inclusive cultures, and widen the supplier funnel so the best partner wins.Jump into the conversation:(00:00) Intro(03:18) Lushentha's inspirational journey to Easter Island(06:50) Growing up during Apartheid(12:53) The impact of Nelson Mandela's leadership(17:40) Lushentha's professional journey at Unilever(23:45) The power of diversity and inclusion(26:01) The transition to the European Supplier Diversity Program (ESDP)(29:09) Lushentha's advice for corporate leaders(32:17) Challenges for women in the workplace(33:52) What ESDP does, its mission, and its impact(44:06) The importance of inclusivity and DEIAdditional Links & Resources:Connect with Lushentha Naidoo: https://www.linkedin.com/in/lushentha-naidoo-99730439 Learn more about ESDP: https://esdp-org.eu/ Connect with Scott Luton: https://www.linkedin.com/in/scottwindonluton/Learn more about Supply Chain Now: https://supplychainnow.com Watch and listen to more Supply Chain Now episodes here: https://supplychainnow.comWEBINAR- From Compliance to Impact and Competitive Advantage: How to Decarbonize Your Supply Chain: https://bit.ly/47uXKKoWEBINAR- The Power of Partnership: Building Long-Term Success with Automation Integrators: https://bit.ly/3Ie1WUOWEBINAR- Reengineering supply chain planning: How to get more bang for your buck in 2026- https://bit.ly/3VahMCQWEBINAR- Optimizing End-to-End Logistics: Efficiency, Collaboration, and Innovation- https://bit.ly/4ml2TZhSubscribe to Supply Chain Now on your favorite platform: https://supplychainnow.com/join Work with us! Easter Island remains one of the world's most underrated destinations—not because it lacks beauty, but because it's so remote and hard to reach. It's not the kind of place most first-time travelers would choose, yet for those who make the journey, it offers endless wonder. In this episode, I share the lessons I took home from this extraordinary island—about history, perspective, and the kind of growth that only comes from stepping far outside the usual path.

Noah Paoa is a PhD candidate in the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. His research focuses on sea level rise-induced flooding and its specific impacts on coastal cultural assets and archaeological sites throughout Polynesia. Using digital elevation mapping and wave-driven flood models, Paoa's work projects future threats to irreplaceable heritage sites. In this episode of weekend one on one, he explains his research on Rapa Nui - also known as Easter Island - shows that iconic monuments, including the famous moai statues of Ahu Tongariki, are at significant risk from coastal erosion and could be reached by destructive waves as early as 2080
Archeologist Ed Barnhart of MayaExploration.org, among other places, rejoins us to discuss Easter Island. But before that, we discuss his theory on how certain megalithic blocks were fused together. You won't want to miss that. But the main event is Easter Island. We start with it's modern history since Western "discovery". What are the orginial settlement theories? What do the indiginous themselves say? What does the archeology say? We go into their likely societal structures, certain times of disruption, the myths about trees, just who are those giant head statues of? We talk some about mythology and concepts like "the navel of the world". Your host offers some un-vetted theories on many areas he is not qualified to theorize upon. But that's just how I do.Basically, everything you want to know about Easter Island plus more in about 90 minutes.

AP correspondent Ben Thomas reports rising seas could put Easter Island's famed statues at risk.
Dive into the fascinating world of longevity research as we explore rapamycin, potentially the most powerful anti-aging pharmaceutical currently known. Dr. Rick Cohen, longevity physician with over 25 years of experience, reveals how this natural molecule discovered on Easter Island targets a fundamental cellular pathway called mTOR that acts as our body's metabolic switch between growth and repair. This episode is sponsored by Gatlan who makes rapamycin that we will be discussing available in their program. I am an advisor to Gatlan but I only advise companies that I believe in and would use for myself and my family. The conversation uncovers the remarkable story behind rapamycin's discovery - how it sat forgotten in a researcher's freezer for years before its life-extending properties were recognized. Dr. Rick explains that mTOR has been conserved through billions of years of evolution precisely because it's so critical to survival, sensing nutrient availability and telling cells whether to grow or repair themselves. What makes this discussion particularly valuable is Dr. Rick's practical approach to using rapamycin as a metabolic health tool rather than a miracle drug. He shares insights on proper dosing strategies, emphasizing the importance of cycling between periods of mTOR suppression and activation to mimic natural patterns our bodies evolved with. This cycling approach - perhaps taking rapamycin for a few months, then taking a month off for anabolic growth through strength training - may be key to optimizing its benefits. The breadth of rapamycin's benefits is truly remarkable - from hair regrowth and skin rejuvenation to improvements in hearing, fertility, and protection against diseases ranging from Alzheimer's to atherosclerosis. This suggests rapamycin isn't just treating symptoms but addressing a fundamental mechanism of aging itself.Ready to understand how this single pathway could influence every aspect of how we age? Listen now to discover why balancing growth and repair cycles might be the key to extending your healthspan and potentially your healthspan and potentially your lifespan.https://www.gatlan.com/Lies I Taught In Medical School : Free sample chapter- https://www.robertlufkinmd.com/lies/Complete Metabolic Heart Scan (LUFKIN20 for 20% off) https://www.innerscopic.com/Fasting Mimicking Diet (20% off) https://prolonlife.com/Lufkin At home blood testing (20% off) https://siphoxhealth.com/lufkinMimio Health (LUFKIN for 15% off) https://mimiohealth.sjv.io/c/5810114/2745519/30611 Web: https://robertlufkinmd.com/X: https://x.com/robertlufkinmdYoutube: https://www.youtube.com/robertLufkinmdInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/robertlufkinmd/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/robertlufkinmd/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@robertlufkinThreads: https://www.threads.net/@robertlufkinmdFacebook: ...

Fresh off our recent expedition to Peru and Easter Island, I sit down with fellow history researcher and explorer Simon Tufnell to discuss the endless ancient anomalies that we witnessed, touched and examined during our South American expedition. From the Nazca Lines, to strange elongated skulls, to Cusco's 200 ton blocks, to mysterious caves, to "The Lost City" of Machu Picchu and to the Colossal Moai statues of Easter Island (Rapa Nui), Simon and I not only share our own reflections and theories concerning these enigmatic sites, but we dive deep into some of the long forgotten legends and oral traditions regarding them. Is there more to history than we have been told?TOURS

I am fresh off my expedition to Peru and Easter Island, so I start this episode off by sharing a few highlights from the trip and revealing my favorite souvenir! Next I break down the news about the lawsuit involving Mr Beast, Mexico & Mayan pyramids. After this, we dive into the exciting new discovery involving an ancient Egyptian tomb and the enigmatic relics found inside. I then give a quick update regarding the Khafre Pyramid SARS scan discovery before spending most of the episode breaking down the big interview heard around the world between Joe Rogan and infamous mainstream archaeologist Zahi Hawass. Of course I save the best for last - the supposed giant mummified finger that was discovered in Egypt. Is it real? Is it fake? See all the photos and hear my take...TOURS Full Joe Rogan interview
