“And a great storm of wind arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that the boat was already filling [.…] And he awoke and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, ‘Peace! Be still!' And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. He said to them, “Why are you afraid? Have you no faith?” (Mk 4: 37-41) Bishop Athanasius Schneider, auxiliary bishop of Astana in Kazakhstan, has identified the challenges of our age, “a new pagan society,” he calls it, and “anti-Christian”; others have said “post-Christian” or apostolic. Although the time is difficult, Bishop Schneider is not afraid. He tells us to pray and to have confidence in the power or the Rosary, its importance and efficacy. So, today we are talking about his new book, Salve Regina: A Rosary Crusade for Holy Popes (Sophia, 2025); he entreats us to petition God that He give us holy popes in the coming years, that the head may lead the body, as the church sails on into the unknown. He also talks about the traditions and history of the Rosary. We also talk about his remarkable life. Love to hear from you; “Send us a Text Message”Is the Catholic Church facing an unprecedented crisis? Join us for an enlightening conversation with Bishop Athanasius Schneider as we tackle the pressing challenges undermining the Church and Western civilization today. We compare the current climate of relativism and heretical acceptance to historical crises such as the Arian crisis of the fourth century and the modernist theories of the 19th and 20th centuries. Explore the nuances of the Second Vatican Council with us through the lens of Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre'sinterpretations. Reflecting on Pope Paul VI's indication that the council did not propose infallible teachings, we emphasize the importance of future magisterium to rectify these issues. Personal anecdotes and experiences are shared to provide practical advice for Catholic families aiming to prioritize their love for God as the cornerstone of their faith. We also discuss the liturgical changes post-Vatican II, focusing on the significant departures from the guidelines of Sacrosanctum Concilium. Our discussion delves into the controversies surrounding the Novus Ordo Mass and the historical reactions from Church leaders. We explore why some clergy find the Traditional Latin Mass and its Christocentric approach uncomfortable compared to the anthropocentric Novus Ordo. Ending on a hopeful note, we underscore that the Church's essence is divinely safeguarded, irrespective of any one Pope's influence. Send us a Text Message. What is the true nature of heresy, and how does it threaten the integrity of our faith? Join us for an eye-opening episode of the Manly Catholic featuring the esteemed Bishop Athanasius Schneider. We start by unpacking the etymology and severe implications of heresy as a violation of divine truth. Bishop Schneider, drawing from his latest book, shares profound insights into over 130 doctrinal errors throughout history and underscores the vital role of bishops as spiritual physicians. We also tackle the pressing issue of "cafeteria Catholics" who selectively follow Church teachings, thereby undermining the unity of divine revelation. Can excommunication be a form of love and protection for the Church? This engaging segment confronts the modernist heresy, which poses a significant threat to religious convictions today. By drawing parallels between spiritual health and disease, we argue the necessity of excommunication as a corrective measure. Modernism, rooted in Kantian philosophy and nominalism, is dissected for its dangerous impact on the stability of divine truth. Bishop Schneider passionately discusses the erosion of religious convictions and the acceptance of practices contrary to traditional Church teachings, reinforcing the importance of adhering steadfastly to doctrinal truth amidst cultural shifts. How can we truly appreciate the depth and beauty of Catholic truth? In this final segment, we delve into the divine origin and timeless teachings of the Catholic faith. From the Trinity to the Eucharist, Bishop Schneider emphasizes the importance of deepening one's faith through prayerful reflection and meditation. Today's Topics: 1) Gospel - Mk 4:1-20 - On another occasion, Jesus began to teach by the sea. A very large crowd gathered around Him so that He got into a boat on the sea and sat down. And the whole crowd was beside the sea on land. And He taught them at length in parables, and in the course of His instruction He said to them, "Hear this! A sower went out to sow. And as he sowed, some seed fell on the path, and the birds came and ate it up. Other seed fell on rocky ground where it had little soil. It sprang up at once because the soil was not deep. And when the sun rose, it was scorched and it withered for lack of roots. Some seed fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked it and it produced no grain. And some seed fell on rich soil and produced fruit. It came up and grew and yielded thirty, sixty, and a hundredfold." He added, "Whoever has ears to hear ought to hear." And when He was alone, those present along with the Twelve questioned Him about the parables. He answered them, "The mystery of the Kingdom of God has been granted to you. But to those outside everything comes in parables, so that they may look and see but not perceive, and hear and listen but not understand, in order that they may not be converted and be forgiven." Jesus said to them, "Do you not understand this parable? Then how will you understand any of the parables? The sower sows the word. These are the ones on the path where the word is sown. As soon as they hear, Satan comes at once and takes away the word sown in them. And these are the ones sown on rocky ground who, when they hear the word, receive it at once with joy. But they have no roots; they last only for a time. Then when tribulation or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away. Those sown among thorns are another sort. They are the people who hear the word, but worldly anxiety, the lure of riches, and the craving for other things intrude and choke the word, and it bears no fruit. But those sown on rich soil are the ones who hear the word and accept it and bear fruit thirty and sixty and a hundredfold." In this episode of The Cordial Catholic, I'm joined by Bishop Athanasius Schneider to talk about what new Catholics, non-Catholic Christians, and even Catholics who have been around the faith for a long time can, and should, make of the current state of affairs in the Catholic Church. How to thrive and live faithfully, following Christ, when it seems sometimes like the Church is in crisis. How, and why, anyone should even consider becoming Catholic when it seems, some days, like the Church is a mess of confusion. We talk about the roots of the current tensions in the Church, what it means for Catholicism going forward, why certain voices seem to crowd out others, and what hope there is for the future. Not a pessimistic or negative conversation, Bishop Athanasius Schneider brings joy, hope, and a deep and abiding love for Christ and His Church in this fantastic interview. Around the world, priests are being canceled, silenced, and stripped of their ministries — all because of corrupt bishops who are actively working on behalf of a globalist “Shadow Church.” A culture war has been unleashed on tradition, most vehemently against the Traditional Latin Mass. However, there still remain bishops who are faithfully upholding the Church's teachings despite ongoing attacks — brave men including Bishop Athanasius Schneider and Bishop Joseph Strickland. Watch and find courage and inspiration from the heroic examples of Bishop Athanasius Schneider and Bishop Joseph Strickland during this unprecedented time of persecution coming from within the Church. The Catholic Herald Podcast: Merely Catholic with Gavin Ashenden
Bishop Athanasius Schneider is our guest for this 64th episode of Merely Catholic, the podcast series for the Catholic Herald. The Auxiliary Bishop of Astana, Kazakhstan, talks about his new book, Credo: The Compendium of the Catholic Faith, a catechism commissioned by the US-based Sophia Institute Press, and why the bold and clear iteration of the truths of the Catholic Church is more vital than ever in these times of moral and doctrinal confusion.
A critical appraisal of the catechism of Bishop Athanasius Schneider
November 22nd, 2023 - We welcome back Brent Haynes to tackle Thanksgiving myths. Then we're joined by Bishop Athanasius Schneider to discuss his new catechism "Credo". TheStationOfTheCross.com/ACT
Michael Lofton examines Bishop Schneider’s new catechism Credo. He analyzes its section papal heresy and covers the examples provided from Pope Honorius, Pope John XXII and Pope Francis. Michael then asks some probing questions on why Bishop Schneider left certain key information out that he was directly given by Pope Francis.
Bishop Athanasius Schneider sits down with John-Henry Westen in Rome to critically examine Pope Francis's disastrous impact on Catholic doctrine. Bishop Schneider provides a how-to guide on demanding from bishops the true teaching of the Church. Through Bishop Schneider's articulate analysis, this first segment of our two-part interview sheds light on the crisis of the magisterium of the Church. Pope Francis is still being accused of endorsing the blessing of gay “unions” – as well as accusations of endorsing sacrilege and blasphemy. He is also being accused of attempting to deceive faithful Catholics. Michael Lofton examines these accusations made by Bishop Athanasius Schneider and considers if they are true.
Bishop Athanasius Schneider’s Credo catechism has been endorsed by many prominent figures including Cardinal Sarah, Bishop Strickland and Dr. Scott Hahn. Yet, it redefines schism in a very disturbing way. Michael shows the problem with Credo’s ecclesiology and urges Catholics to resist its “recognize and resist agenda.”
Regarding using bad language, Patrick discusses strategies on how to overcome this habit, helps a young caller understand why Jesus kept His wounds after His resurrection and delves into what it means to be baptized children of Christ. Brenda - My mother didn't like that I cursed a lot when I came back from college. When I went to confession, the priest said I should replace the word with something I didn't like. Now I use 'Figs' instead of language and it works. Julie (23:03) - What do you think of the new movie called 'After Death' by Angel Studios? Audrey - We had our car picked up yesterday to deliver to Relevant Radio. Thank you for all you do. Casimir - Are the planets in our solar system correlated with the 9 choirs of angels? Judy - I only cussed one time at a person at a supermarket, because he provoked me. How bad am I for doing that? Richard - We just took in our first foster child. Is it okay to conditionally baptize him before we adopt him? Denise - Is a plenary indulgence possible if you say the Rosary with Father Rocky on the FRAA? Benito (40:21) - Getting upset with people about language. When someone flips me off, I make the sign of the cross. When someone says have a good day, I say 'have a blessed day'. Rowen (9-years-old) - Why did Jesus keep his wounds after the resurrection? Kelly - Could you clarify something that Bishop Athanasius Schneider put in his Catechism regarding us not having fraternity with anyone who is not baptized?
Michael Lofton explores Bishop Athanasius Schenider’s new catechism Credo. He examines his position on Pope Francis, communion for adulterers, Muslim adoration and Vatican II, among other topics, and offers his feedback.
