She recommends a concert this Sunday where the flute will take center stage. Flutist Adam W. Sadberry, accompanied by Joe Williams on piano, will perform this month's Coffee Concert at the Lakeville Area Arts Center, Sunday, Feb. 2 at 2 p.m.  Roma says: Adam's really put together an interesting program with a lot of music from Black composers. Perhaps the one that catches my attention most is the finisher on the program, “Wish: Sonatine” by Valerie Coleman. Valerie is a living composer. She's a Black woman who is a flutist and a composer, and she's gotten a ton of attention in recent years with with great reason; she always has such engaging, exciting works.  One of the big pieces that I'm also excited about is the [J.S.] Bach Partita [in A minor]. It's a real tour de force for flutists. It's not very often that we have these solo pieces where we just never stop playing. He has so many different composers on this program, so I think it'll be really fascinating to hear him switch gears so many times between different eras, different styles, different feels to his repertoire.— Roma Duncan13 years of musical marriageTheater artist Laurie Flanigan Hegge from Minneapolis recommends a light-hearted musical to see with your sweetheart: the musical “'Til Death.” Written and performed by real-life married couple Jeremiah and Vanessa Gamble of Bucket Brigade, the musical, now in its 13th season, opens Friday and runs through Feb. 15 at Art House North in St. Paul. Laurie says: This show is a Valentine to marriage and commitment and a love letter to their community on the west side of St. Paul [where they live and perform].  “‘Til Death” features two sets of couples: a married couple who have been together for 15 years but are on the brink of separation, and a newly married couple who are goofily in love with each other. The two of them come together on a snowy night in a blizzard and end up spending a kind of madcap, silly night together, where the realities of what it means to be married and committed kind of crash into each other.  It's a fun musical: warm, funny and light-hearted, and it's performed in a really intimate space called Art House North, which is an old church.— Laurie Flanigan HeggeRochester JazzJazz musician Eric Heukeshoven of Winona recommends spending your Wednesday nights this February at the Rochester City Jazz Fest. Hear live jazz at the Thesis Beer Project from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., starting Wednesday, Feb. 5.  Eric describes the line-up: Next Wednesday, Feb. 5, is Darren Saner Quartet. Darren is a crooner from Rochester, very well known. There is a wonderful band backing him up. The next Wednesday, Feb. 12, is a group called TakeTwo & Friends. They're very much straight ahead, right in the pocket. It's piano, drums and tenor sax, but I think the “friends” indicates they're going to have people sitting in with them that night. Then on the 19th is a new group from Minneapolis called 3-D. It features guitar, bass and drums. And wrapping it up [on Feb. 26], just in time for Mardi Gras, is Loud Mouth Brass, which is a New Orleans-style brass band. They will bring down the house, I'm sure.— Eric Heukeshoven

The Salvation Army along with partner agencies are fighting hunger in North Carolina with the initiative called, Bucket Brigade.   This is a unique program for families to grow their own portable ‘Grow Buckets while learning how to grow vegetables themselves. This can even help families stretch their grocery budgets.   From budding young planters to seasoned master gardeners, attendees learn both the basics and finer techniques to make their gardens grow.   Many low-income households usually do not have a big yard to grow things, but they do have a patio or a front porch where they can place their buckets in the sunlight and keep the plants properly hydrated and tended.   Everything is free for participants, thanks to a state grant given to The Salvation Army.   Master gardeners are trained to do public outreach and to teach budding gardeners the basics.   Also at these events, cooking demonstrations complete the food production cycle, deemed “From the ground to the table.”

Earlier today, July 14th the Justice Department issued a press release:  High-Level Member of ISIS Sentenced to Life in Prison for Material Support to a Foreign Terrorist Organization Resulting in Death This convicted terrorist, Mirsad Kandic, was described in the press release this way: Former Brooklyn and Bronx Resident Convicted of Being an ISIS Fighter, Weapons Smuggler, Propagandist and Recruiter. However his indictment begins by noting that he was previously granted Lawful Immigrant status.  In point of fact, he is a native of Kosovo. Clearly the Biden administration seeks to obfuscate the nexus between immigration and terrorism. Each year over the last two decades, volunteers have contributed several thousands of dollars to support the WVDNR's limestone sand acid waters restoration program by distributing trout fingerlings into appropriate waters and gathering water quality and temperature data to discover new waters that may be suitable for trout introduction.  The help of these volunteers has provided additional fishing opportunities that WVDNR staff do not have the resources to evaluate. With assistance from the “Bucket Brigade,” they have improved conditions in the Middle Fork Williams River.  The modest boost in alkalinity in watersheds like the Middle Fork Williams as well as Cranberry rivers makes survival of Brook Trout eggs and fry much more likely than in the seasonally acidified conditions. Brian, Richard, and, (checks notes), Jake are back for an all-new episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast!Blake is away to Sweetwater for some sort of content creator jamboree so we are blessed to be joined by the giant intellect of Jake Steffes, Wampler's top engineer, and he has some grievances to air.  Richard is intrigued to hear about Jake's early years, how he got into electronics and how he wound up making awesome pedals via Brian's legendary deck and fishpond.Brian and Richard have a genius idea for a new sport. The guys then take a look at the history of one of Wampler's best selling pedals,  the Ethereal, which was one of Jakes proudest achievements at the time despite the challenges of the limited interface. Richard also drops a large hint before Brian completely destroys him. Paul Reed Smith have announced the Myles Kennedy signature guitar which looks somewhat like a telecaster, and so the guys talk about it. Richard is currently not a fan of the aesthetics, but he may be swayed as time heals all shocks, and admits he would be up for trying one. There is some Bass talk, and there is band talk, because Jake happens to be a fantastic player in an awesome band! On June 6th, we observed the 80th anniversary ofD Day.  Here is how the U.S. Army website describes this major battle of World War II: On June 6, 1944, more than 160,000 Allied troops landed along a 50-mile stretch of heavily-fortified French coastline, to fight Nazi Germany on the beaches of Normandy, France. Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower called the operation a crusade in which, “we will accept nothing less than full victory.” More than 5,000 Ships and 13,000 aircraft supported the D-Day invasion, and by day's end, the Allies gained a foot-hold in Continental Europe. The cost in lives on D-Day was high. More than 9,000 Allied Soldiers were killed or wounded, but their sacrifice allowed more than 100,000 Soldiers to begin the slow, hard slog across Europe, to defeat Adolf Hitler's crack troops. ANTIFA and the Radical Left claims to be “Anti-Facist”- ihowever, the true Anti-Fascists were the gallant Allied soldiers who fought and won the war at great cost. On February 7th the House Committee On Oversight and Accountability conducted a hearing on the topic: “On The Front Lines of the Border Crisis: A Hearing with Chief Patrol Agents.” Two Border Patrol chiefs testified at the hearing and painted a terrifying picture about how the disastrous border crisis is undermining national security and public safety. On January 31, 2023 FrontPage Magazine published my article: A Former FBI Counterintelligence Chief and Russian Collusion That article was predicated on two DOJ press releases we examined on my show that reported on the arrest of both the former FBI Chief of Count-Intelligence and a Reitred Russian Diplomat and translator who became a naturalized U.S. citizen and then got a sensitive job as a translator for the federal court system.  They alleged to have colluded to provide illegal assistance to a U.S.-sanctioned Russian oligarch in exchange for hundreds of thousands of dollars. For my program this evening I have decided to focus on the how the enforcement of our immigration laws has morphed over the past 50 years, calling upon my institutional memory of the former INS when I was hired back in 1971. Beginning with Jimmy Carter who ordered that INS employees stop using the term to describe illegal aliens - and use the term “undocumented immigrants” public perceptions were altered by the political leaders of both parties. The Republicans have wrested control of the House of Representatives but they have failed to act decisively to  secure our borders and support effective immigration law enforcement.  Here is what they need to do- if they are truly serious about immigration law enforcement. It has never been more important that we truly learn how to speak with our fellow Americans in non-confrontational but in fact-based effective and persuasive ways.  Immigration is one issue that should unite all Americans- if all of the facts were made known. FrontPage Magazine published my most recent article on November 7, 2022: Former DOD Contract Translator Arrested for Alleged Ties to ISIS- The ongoing threat of Jihad This shocking case has been all but ignored by the media- but I will focus on it because it provides a clear example of a massive failure of the administration to “Connect the dots.” Also, earlier today Associated Press reported, AP sources: US border agency leader is being forced out. He never should have been given his job in the first place- indeed, I wrote about him in my April 27, 2021 article, Biden's Curious Choice to Lead Customs and Border Protection Finally I will share some of my thoughts about the midterm election results and where we need to go from here. On October 18, 2022 Rolling Stone published an important article: Feds Charge Pentagon Contractor With Lying About Ties to ISIS:  Mohammad Rafi Mohammadi worked for the U.S. in Afghanistan. He was also allegedly helping the terrorist group behind a bombing that killed 13 American troops Another report about the arrest, this one published in American Military News described the subject of the arrest as  “Kansas City Man.” This case is multifaceted and illustrates how the Biden administration's immigration policies have created serious threats to national security and public safety. This evening I will begin by focusing on this case and show how America's national security and the well being of Americans is being compromised in unprecedented ways by Biden's immigration policies.
