In an egregious display of contempt, DHS Secretary Mayorkas and FBI chief Chris Wray decide NOT to appear before a Senate committee on homeland security. Mayorkas floats the idea he'd step down before Trump's inauguration IF he's granted immunity from prosecution. From what? HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra squirms in the hot seat and says "he'll get back to" a House panel investigating more than 300,000 migrant children the Biden administration has lost.

Quite a few scary scenarios about our nation are showing up daily. Every day, it appears that Israel and Iran are about to launch a full-scale war. Hundreds of thousands of Americans are fighting for their lives and everything they own in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. DHS Secretary Mayorkas announced that DHS has NO funding left to assist citizens in those states who desperately need assistance because they've lost everything. (What happened to those billions of dollars taxpayers sent to the government for that exact purpose?) Joe Biden just showed up for a brief tour of the ravaged areas of North Carolina. He waited six days before going. VP Harris not only has not gone but has announced no plans to do so! Where are our President and Vice President? They should be serving the people of the U.S. and not on vacation or conducting campaign fund rallies.
//The Wire//2130Z October 2, 2024////ROUTINE////BLUF: IRAN STRIKES ISRAEL WITH BALLISTIC MISSILES. MASS SHOOTING REPORTED IN TEL AVIV. CONTROVERSY CONTINUES TO MOUNT IN SOUTHEASTERN DISASTER ZONE.// -----BEGIN TEARLINE------International Events-Middle East: Last night, multiple Iranian ballistic missiles stuck various targets in Israel. Video footage from people on the ground indicate dozens (possibly hundreds) of missiles were launched, many of which were intercepted by David's Sling defense systems. So far, the casualty count appears to be minimal, though official numbers may change over time. Initial Israeli media reporting indicates that Iran targeted military sites, not civilian centers.Nearly simultaneously, a mass shooting was reported in Tel Aviv, resulting in 10 fatalities and 20 wounded so far. AC: Due to the Iranian strikes, the details of this developing mass shooting event have been hard to verify with any confidence.Far East: This morning a WWII era bomb exploded at Miyazaki Airport in southwestern Japan. The bomb, which had been dropped during WWII, cratered a taxiway and caused the diversion and/or delay of dozens of flights. Local authorities have confirmed there is no further threat to aviation and normal aviation operations will commence on Thursday.-HomeFront-United States: Bank of America customers reported widespread issues this afternoon, resulting in either a total outage of banking systems or their accounts showing a zero balance. AC: No word has been provided regarding the cause of the outage.Southeast: Recovery efforts continue, despite federal involvement. Reports continue to mount regarding federal agencies discouraging people from helping, or outright threatening citizens with arrest for trying to aid disaster victims. There have been some limited reports of federal aid agencies confiscating disaster supplies from volunteer groups. FEMA resources, largely unseen throughout the affected disaster zone, are allegedly being deployed at the moment. However, this afternoon DHS Secretary Mayorkas stated that while FEMA funding is adequate for now, FEMA lacks the required resources and funding to manage federal emergencies that may need management by a federal agency this hurricane season.-----END TEARLINE-----Analyst Comments: With any disaster, there are always those with a good heart that try to help, but inevitably make the situation worse. These situations are quite rare, but do sometimes happen. Similar situation with those who try to volunteer but end up needing rescue themselves…the nuance of various situations on the ground inevitably results in conflict that is not exactly indicative of a top-down policy sometimes. However, overall the atmospherics on the ground in this situation appear to be more nefarious in nature than the standard tensions that arise during any disaster. The prevailing story throughout some areas is that federal (and even some local) agencies don't want citizens to help, because the government is in charge…but these same agencies don't do anything at all, or at minimum are way over their heads with regards to the scale of the response needed. Roads are being closed to only “official” vehicle traffic, despite well-prepared and skilled citizens that are more than capable of providing aid more professionally and efficiently than formalized agencies. Similar situation with private pilots who can outfly any National Guard asset any day of the week, and yet are somehow held to higher standards and formalization than even the policing agencies themselves. With this disaster, the red tape has begun to entangle even private volunteer efforts, with many volunteers learning valuable lessons regarding how little the government values their efforts, and as most clearly demonstrated during the Maui crisis, are sometimes outright adversarial. The reasons for this vary wid

//The Wire//2100Z April 18, 2024////ROUTINE////BLUF: 911 CALL CENTER OUTAGE REPORTED OVERNIGHT. EXPLOSION AT BAE SYSTEMS FACILITY IN MONMOUTHSHIRE.// -----BEGIN TEARLINE------International Events-United Kingdom: An explosion was reported at the BAE Systems munitions factory in Monmouthshire. The explosion occurred at a remote part of the facility where munitions were being manipulated by remote control. No injuries were reported, and blast containment procedures were reported to have functioned as designed.-HomeFront-USA: Last night a cascading failure of 911 call center services impacted many states around the country. Services have mostly been restored as of this report. No official word on the cause of the outage, however unconfirmed rumor suggests that a fiber optic cable being cut may have been the cause for the incident. In Congress, the U.S. Senate votes to dismiss the impeachment of DHS Secretary Mayorkas without trial.-----END TEARLINE-----Analyst Comments: While entirely possible, it is hard to imagine that a single cable being cut could impact 911 call centers in a wide range of states, among seemingly unrelated systems. However, even without knowing specifics most public infrastructure (especially telecoms) is just that vulnerable on an everyday basis. Despite the obvious vulnerabilities that have been created, many public service telecoms networks have transitioned to cellular systems, or otherwise more centralized systems which, while vastly more efficient, often times do not allow for the hardened and robust nature of more traditional networks.Analyst: S2A1//END REPORT//

//The Wire//1700Z February 14, 2024////ROUTINE////BLUF: IRANIAN PIPELINE EXPLODES. ISRAEL CONTINUES ACTIONS ON MULTIPLE FRONTS.// -----BEGIN TEARLINE------International Events-Middle East: Attacks on various U.S. military bases in Iraq and Syria have increased over the past few weeks, following heightened tensions in the region. Over the past few days, POL facilities in Syria (such as the al-Omar oil field), along with adjacent U.S. military bases have been sporadically targeted with rockets. These attacks have ebbed and flowed in response to events in Israel, or in response to U.S. targeting in Yemen. In Iran, a major natural gas pipeline exploded in Borujen last night. AC: No details have been provided regarding the cause of the explosion, but considering the context of the multiple wars in the region, this was almost certainly an attack and/or sabotage conducted by Israel or the United States, both of which have a long history of these types of actions within Iran. Additionally, some social media accounts in Iran are claiming that a second explosion has occurred at a pipeline in Khorramabad, but this cannot be independently verified with any confidence at this time.In Israel, the bombing campaign against Hezbollah targets in Lebanon continues, along with sporadic strikes in the vicinity of Rafah. In the south, the Palestinian Red Crescent has reported that they have not received any supplies due to roads being blocked by ongoing protests by Israeli civilians demonstrating against sending humanitarian aid to Gaza.-HomeFront-Washington D.C. – DHS Secretary Mayorkas has been impeached by the House for issues related to the border crisis. AC: This impeachment will now head to the Senate where it likely will not pass.-----END TEARLINE-----Analyst Comments: The situation on the ground with regards to humanitarian aid in Gaza is very fluid. Egyptian authorities report trucks have made it through from their side, but it's not clear as to how many trucks are actually making it to aid distribution centers. This has been a common struggle to determine throughout this conflict so far, as the demand for the truth of the situation on the ground is not able to outweigh the information operations that have become exceptionally overwhelming.Analyst: S2A1//END REPORT//

In this episode of the P.A.S. Report podcast, Professor Nick Giordano discusses how the border battle is heating up. The Biden administration has been derelict in its duty to secure the southern border, and states like Texas are taking decisive action. As Governor Greg Abbott takes a stand against the open border crisis, the administration's attempts to hinder Texas intensify the conflict. Against the backdrop of the impeachment proceedings against DHS Secretary Mayorkas, and the rejection of a Senate border bill deemed insufficient, this episode offers a compelling exploration of the deepening crisis and its profound impact on the nation's security and political landscape. SERIES 2 EPISODE 114: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (1:44) SURPRISE! A decade ago, conservative icon Justice Antonin Scalia issued a Supreme Court opinion in which he declared - and reiterated to two stunned conservative attorneys - that the President of the United States IS an OFFICER OF THE UNITED STATES. Thus the man who Trump called one of "the greatest Americans to ever live" has already destroyed Trump's only argument that he cannot be disqualified for the presidency under the 14th Amendment because the president is NOT an officer of the United States. Unearthed by Roger Parloff of Lawfire - how, as the cliche goes, is this not the lead story everywhere in the nation? The Scalia ruling and letter (which may itself have been agreed with by Chief Justice Roberts, Justice Alito, and Justice Thomas) destroys Trump's only argument for why the 14th Amendment Disqualification Clause does NOT apply to him and can't be used to kick him off the ballot. Trump insists the president is NOT an "officer." Yet four years ago Trump proposed a garden dedicated to the 30 greatest Americans who ever lived - and Scalia was one of them! Historians have also found a Senate argument confirming that body agreed that the disqualification clause applied to Presidents, and that it was self-enforcing, and that it was acknowledged as such by everybody from Jefferson Davis to President Andrew Johnson. Also, the Illinois Election Board was to meet today to address the bid there to enforce the 14th. Also: Trump has now enabled Biden to run on the Bipartisan Border Enforcement and Great Economy platform, while his House lackeys have made DHS Secretary Mayorkas look like the border hardliner of the bunch. On Day 15 of his mental health crisis Trump's mind continues to corrode, and damn but Nikki Haley isn't letting up, and more importantly seems to be having a gas calling Trump unhinged and in decline EVERY SINGLE DAY. B-Block (22:32) IN SPORTS: The Clay Travis Taylor Swift/Travis Kelce/Super Bowl/Joe Biden conspiracy theory has now been disproved. It has been replaced by the Vivek Ramaswamy Taylor Swift/Travis Kelce/Super Bowl/Joe Biden conspiracy theory. And why Bill Belichick going to do TV football could be the greatest move since John Madden did it. (29:36) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: Charlie Kirk defames one of the Central Park Five while trying to dig himself out from having already defamed him; Elise Stefanik scrubs her website; South Dakota Governor (former South Dakota Snow Queen) Kristi Noem thinks the Constitution is a treaty signed between the 13 Colonies and Texas. C-Block (36:51) THINGS I PROMISED NOT TO TELL: In memory of the late Red Sox, Astros, and Blue Jays' manager Jimy Williams, the saga of the day I was thrown off the field at Fenway Park and directed to sit next to Yankee owner George Steinbrenner who promptly joined me on the Fox game broadcast and accused Williams of trying to instigate a riot during the game.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
