Can we forgive and forget when it comes to our favourite sports stars? That's the question we're all asking as Trent Alexander-Arnold leaves Liverpool, world number one, Jannik Sinner, returns to tennis after a 3-month doping ban, and Zhao Xintong wins the Snooker World Championship after a 20-month suspension for being party to match fixing. Mark and Kelly Cates are joined by Sinner's lawyer, Jamie Singer. How has the ban affected Sinner off the court? What's it like having just 24 hours to prove your innocence? And has Sinner got special treatment by not missing any Grand Slams or losing his rankings ? Jeremy Wilson, Chief Sports Reporter for The Telegraph, explains why Xintong was given the ban, how he came back so strong and what his victory means for global snooker. Plus, London City Lionesses' last-minute promotion, Fantasy Football to elect a new Pope, and have you seen the life-size LEGO F1 cars? Welcome back to ‘It's All Kicking Off!' On today's episode, Ian amends an error that sharp-eared fans would've picked up on in Monday's episode… with even Producer Henry catching strays. The lads then get down to the nitty gritty, naming their player of the season. As you can see in the headline, Ian's one really is quite something to behold. Perhaps he's forgotten about the Egyptian winger at Liverpool who's had a half decent campaign. They also get stuck into the reports, as broken by our Chief Sports Reporter, Mike Keegan, that Leeds are considering replacing Daniel Farke, despite overseeing their promotion campaign. Welcome back to ‘It's All Kicking Off!' Neither Ian, nor Chris could join for this episode, but fear not… we've brought out the big guns and drafted in our Chief Sports Reporter, Mike Keegan, and our Manchester United Correspondent, Nathan Salt. We kick off by praising Arsenal's two-legged dominance over Real Madrid, singling out Declan Rice for his immense contributions. Is this where the fun ends for Mikel Arteta's side, or does Munich glory await them? Nathan claims that Marcus Rashford's spell at Aston Villa, while decent, has been far from outstanding, and that the forwarded has benefited from being away from the Manchester United spotlight. The lads reignite the debate that's brought Ian Ladyman's social media into turmoil, after he claimed that Europa League success shouldn't result in a Champions League place. AND we have our say on which Championship sides would benefit the Premier League the most. Sepp Blatter served President of FIFA, football's international governing body, between 1998 and 2015. To mark the beginning of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, my guest and I take a look at his time in charge of the world's most popular sport. The irony of the Qatar decision is that Blatter didn't actually want the World Cup to go there; instead, he lost control of the corruption that had infested world football governance for decades prior. Amid some of the other things currently going on in the world, many might claim that focusing on something as trivial as a football tournament is unimportant. But I'm not so sure; there is, for example, something rather fitting about millions of Brits shivering in their freezing homes due to soaring energy bills, watching football matches played and attended by the wealthiest people in the world. And despite the constant attempts to make football a more accepting sport for gay fans and players, the current world cup and the one before it have been hosted by two of the most intolerant countries one could hope to find. On the contrary, then, the Qatar story isn't a distraction from the worst things happening in the world today, but a reflection of them. My guest for this episode is Martyn Ziegler, who is the Chief Sports Reporter for the Times and Sunday Times, and is the author of a recent article exposing the Qatar World Cup bid for that publication. As well as Blatter's career, we discuss the inconsistencies and hypocrisies in world football, the potential for future tournaments to be hosted by unpleasant regimes, whether there is too much football played today, and, on a lighter note, who Martyn thinks will win the World Cup in Qatar.

THIS PODCAST WAS RECORDED BEFORE CHELSEA AND MAN CITY LEFT THE COMPETITION: English football clubs triggered shockwaves of revulsion at the weekend when they announced their plans to join a €4bn breakaway ‘Super League'. Is the plan starting to crack, and can English football be saved? The man who broke the story, Chief Sports Reporter for The Times Martyn Ziegler, tells Andrew Harrison how a greed-fuelled vanity project came about, why the owners are unwise to discount “legacy fans”, and if there's anything fans can do to stop it. “This has gone beyond sabre rattling, this is civil war”“These owners simply don't care about the tradition and community that surrounds their football clubs”“There is no doubt that the clubs have been taken aback by the reaction from fans, the media and even politicians”“The Premier League's success is built on the fact that Leicester can win the title, and ‘Super League' clubs can have a bad season”“In 30 years of reporting on sport I have never known the Government behave like this towards football”Produced and presented by Andrew Harrison.
