Today's episode is the second of our two recent live recordings of PPF, this one in front of an audience at the Bath Curious Minds Festival. David talks to historian Robert Saunders about the life of Winston Churchill and all its twists and turns of fortune: from disgrace in WWI, economic disaster in the 1920s, wilderness in the 1930s, through to redemption in 1945 and rejection by the voters in the same year. How to make sense of it all? Is there a thread that connects the ups and downs? Has there ever – anywhere – been another political life like it? Out now on PPF+: David discusses the influence of Marinetti's Futurist Manifesto (1909) – from cars to cod liver oil, from fascism to techno-optimism, from the madness of pre-WWI Europe to the craziness of Silicon Valley today. But where did that idea come from? With their graceful movements, air of mystery, and uncanny ability to land on their feet, cats have earned a reputation for being nearly indestructible. This myth spans centuries, rooted in ancient civilizations and passed down through folklore and cultural storytelling - from the sacred temples of ancient Egypt to Arabic legends and old English tales, cats were often seen as magical, mystical, and even divine.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

This episode is everything about feminine energy and self empowerment coming from two of the strongest yet kindest women I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Culture is everything when it comes to influencing our decisions and choices in life. But do they work in our favor, or against who we authentically are?Alysha Wright, Producer of ‘The Burden of Nine Lives, and Ashley Rose Nicholas, Lead Actress in the movie, dive deep into their upbringing that lead to their AHA moments of authenticity. Alysha cites her Belizean and Jamaican heritage for sharpening her skills to question why things are done. The perfect life skills of a film producer. Ashley remembers how her parents, Caribbean and Black American, helped her find her voice amongst the dominantly white neighborhood by introducing her to theater. And just like the movie, this episode comes to you Probably as you think you would typically hear actresses and producers talking about movies but The twist continues throughout this episode just like the movie Where by the end you are leaning in Hanging on every word that these two women talk about because they are lighting you up They are fueling your fire. They are getting you ready To take back your life And by the end of the episode, you will be cheering. You will be clapping. You will be leaning in. Yes, sister.Catch 'The Burden of Nine Lives' on Prime Video to watch these goddesses in action!

On March 25th, 1971, President Yahya Khan launches Operation Searchlight in East Pakistan, a brutal military crackdown intended to snuff out Bengali separatism and restore West Pakistani authority. Meanwhile, an American diplomat in Dacca named Archer Blood begins reporting and documenting the slaughter, hoping to convince his government to step in and restrain Yahya. In Washington, D.C., President Richard Nixon and his national security advisor Henry Kissinger weigh the political costs of intervening in the atrocities, while secretly planning a groundbreaking outreach to Communist China.  SOURCES: Bass, Gary K.
