For Task #8 in our Prep for the Holidays checklist I'm putting the focus on getting your holiday market applications in - for makers, artists and creative service providers (yes, there's room for you, too!). While it may be too late to apply to some of the bigger craft and maker markets in major urban centres, there's no shortage of opportunities in smaller, local markets. I'm sharing tips for finding those smaller markets because there's a LOT of them and they're looking to fill their vendor rosters now! Plus, these smaller, community markets can be a great way for newer sellers to get some experience and gain some confidenceOh... and those big markets that are already full? They often host spring markets and now is the time to research those market application deadlines!Past episodes you may want to listen to:EP080: Get Ready for Craft Market Season with Louisa Hrennikoff of Luli Designs JewelryThis episode is brought to you by our Premium Subscriber Community on Patreon and BuzzsproutYou can find Melissa at finelimedesigns.com, finelimeillustrations.com or on Instagram @finelimedesigns.Support the Show. You can connect with the podcast on: Instagram at @andshelookedup Facebook YouTube Tik Tok at @AndSheLookedUp For a list of all available episodes, please visit:And She Looked Up Creative Hour PodcastEach week The And She Looked Up Podcast sits down with inspiring Canadian women who create for a living. At the end of June, a queer artist group's craft market was scheduled to celebrate Pride Month in Saskatoon with an event called Cheers for Queers. The organizers declared support for Palestine, later laying down an umbrella ban on Zionists. Jews could come, they said—just not Zionist ones. That's when a local parent recalled an interview they'd heard on this very podcast stream, aired exclusively to subscribers of The CJN Daily, in which a Montreal-based lawyer discussed ways to combat antisemitism. Now other parents have joined her to form a new grassroots organization to draw newfound attention to the myriad problems faced by Jews in their Prairie city since Oct. 7—including a disturbing antisemitic drawing made on the blackboard of a Saskatoon public high school classroom. The activists join_The CJN Daily_ to explain how they successfully got the anti-Zionist market moved, for now, how a little divine intervention worked in their favour, and what they hope to do next. Welcome to Michael's petty era, he's come in raging over an article asserting that Season 3 of his hit TV series ‘The Newsreader. Rumours that the series is wrapping up because his cast don't wanna do it anymore are false, and the truth is he never planned to go beyond a third season ever. Cut to Michael calling the article's creators to have it adjusted (something Em was never able to do when fake articles about her came out) and much discussion of who cares, who's show gets better numbers, and assurances we won't be cutting anything Michael says out (which we didn't). Then it's onto the biggest mistake in Em's life, jumping in on a Craft Market stall with comedian Lizzy Hoo to sell a bunch of clothes and shoes. Em went in hard, we're talking swings tags, paper bags, classy coat hangers, clothing racks, full outfit washes and Em's mum Jenni stepping in to help organise and run the market stall too. It is a LOT and Em will never be doing it again. Finally there's the shocking news that Jennifer Lopez emailed Em to tell her that she was cancelling her ‘This Is Me…Now Live' tour, plus there's the latest attempts to prove her and Ben Affleck are still very much in love and all is fine in Bennifer land to check in on too. Plus there's much gushing when they both discuss the new doco based on the creator of The Muppets, Fraggle Rock, The Labyrinth and so much more, ‘Jim Henson Idea Man'. In our Sealed Section, on our premium service Emsolation Extra, Em and Michael ‘Okay, Stop!' the viral TikTok of comedian Georgia Godworth vox popping the one and only Baz Luhrmann, whilst having zero idea she was chatting to someone so famous. What are your sales goals for these events? When do you know if you're good enough to try a juried event? Are there specific juried events you recommend, i.e. ZAPP or just local juried events?
