En este episodio, entrevistamos a Luli Arrotea y Pepa Lacasia. Conocemos a Luli y a Pepa desde nuestra juventud, cuando compartíamos con ellas los grupos de jóvenes de nuestra parroquia, la Parroquia Nuestra Señora del Pilar. Hoy, ambas son religiosas pertenecientes a la congregación de las Misioneras de la Caridad, fundada en 1950 por la Madre Teresa de Calcuta. Las Misioneras de la Caridad profesan votos de pobreza, castidad y obediencia, además de un cuarto voto especial: “entregar gratuitamente un servicio de amor a los más pobres entre los pobres. “Como Pepa y Luli nos explican, son contemplativas en el corazón del mundo.   Luli actualmente vive en Buenaventura, una ciudad portuaria sobre el Pacífico, en Colombia, donde conviven el narcotráfico, la guerrilla y una gran pobreza. Allí, las Hermanas de la Caridad tienen un hogar de ancianos y trabajan con los niños. Por su parte, Pepa vive con su comunidad en Chimbote, una pequeña ciudad a ocho horas al norte de Lima, Perú, donde las Hermanas de la Caridad atienden a muchas familias inmigrantes necesitadas.   Luli y Pepa nos comparten cómo sintieron el llamado a la vida consagrada y, en especial, a ser Misioneras de la Caridad. También nos cuentan cómo viven la pobreza, no solo material, sino también espiritual, abandonadas a la Providencia. Conversamos sobre cómo ellas encuentran a Jesús en los pobres y en la Eucaristía, cómo los pobres las llevan a Jesús y Jesús las lleva a los pobres. Luli y Pepa nos invitan a reflexionar sobre cómo Jesús quiere que lo encontremos especialmente en los pobres, que muchas veces están muy cerca de nosotros. “No tengo plata ni oro, pero te doy lo que tengo”: un espacio donde encontrarnos con el que verdaderamente nos llena, para que nos tome de la mano, nos levante y nos ponga en camino nuevamente. Minha convidada foi criada em um ambiente de muito esporte. Sua avó foi uma grande atleta em provas de lançamento de disco e dardo, e no tênis conquistou diversos títulos. Ela, por sua vez, foi do judô à natação, da corrida de velocidade ao lançamento de pelota, do jazz ao tênis. Nas águas da Ilhabela acompanhava seu pai no mergulho livre. Em Campos do Jordão, cidade serrana que frequentava bastante, tornou-se ao lado da mãe uma especialista no resgate do pai quando ele saltava de asa delta. No último escolar, chegou a ir com pedalando para as aulas com uma amiga através da caótica via Marginal Pinheiros, em São Paulo e já na faculdade, usava a bicicleta como meio de locomoção. Um dia, na academia de ginástica que frequentava, recebeu o convite para integrar uma equipe em uma corrida de aventura. O cara que a convidou sumiu, mas animada, decidiu seguir adiante e montou a própria equipe. A modalidade casou perfeitamente com o seu espírito e durante alguns anos ela competiu diversas provas, como as icônicas Ecomotion, Brasil Wild, Chauás, Adventure Camp, Haka Race entre tantas outras. Participou também da ultra maratona Cruce de Los Andes, de uma prova de ciclocross e algumas de mountain bike. Em 2008 trabalhou foi voluntária na Cape Epic e ficou maravilhada. Convidou a irmã que a vida lhe deu e juntas se prepararam para participar da próxima edição da prova de mountain bike em etapas mais famosa do mundo. A sintonia entre as duas foi perfeita, tornado a experiência mágica e fazendo com que a dupla quisesse viver mais momentos assim. Como um time, o Flower People, participaram ainda do Tour de La Patagônia, a Transrockies, a Brasil Ride em tandem, a BC Bike Race e até a Loire 725, uma prova de uma semana remando de stand-up paddle 16h por dia. A alegria, descontração e animação da dupla, aliada ao emprego sem limites da cor rosa em seus uniformes, equipamentos e adereços, além de coreografias exaustivamente ensaiadas fazem a alegria dos participantes e chamam a atenção da imprensa de qualquer evento que participem, criando assim a sua marca registrada. Mesmo quando sua parceira não pode, ela não para e está sempre entretida com algum desafio, como uma Spartan Race na Tailândia, o Desafio do Dunga em Orlando, um XTerra na Sardenha, uma Backyard Ultra em Portugal, uma prova de mountain bike no Vietnam e agora, recentemente, uma tradicionalíssima prova de 90km de esqui cross country na Suécia, a Vasaloppet. Andrea Wang shares Luli and the Language of Tea, a story that reminds us that when you're looking to communicate with people, you look for a common bond.  BOOK DESCRIPTION: Luli and the Language of Tea by Andrea Wang; illustrated by Hyewon Yum   Though they may speak different languages, kids from all over the world come together to enjoy the shared pastime of tea in this delicious book for young readers.   When five-year-old Luli joins her new English as a Second Language class, the playroom is quiet. Luli can't speak English, neither can anyone else. That's when she has a brilliant idea to host a tea party and bring them all together.   Luli removes her teapot, thermos, and teacups from her bag and calls out "Chá!" in her native Chinese. One by one, her classmates pipe up in recognition: in Russian, Hindi, Turkish, Persian, Arabic, and Spanish, Portuguese, and Swahili. Tea is a tasty language they all know well, and it gives them a chance to share and enjoy each other's company. When all the tea is gone and it's time for dessert, Luli gets to use her favorite English word, cookie! After that, the playroom isn't so quiet.   Informed by her own experience as the child of Chinese immigrant parents, Andrea Wang makes the point that when you're looking to communicate with people, you look for a common bond. The word for "tea" is similar in many languages, and tea becomes the unifying metaphor that brings a diverse group of children together. Additional material at the back of the book explores the rich and ancient history of tea drinking across cultures all around the world and contains maps, statistics, and fascinating details that will delight young readers.
